Dr. Wang is a great professor! she goes a little too fast sometimes but if you are confused then she will stop and answer your question. she is pretty straightforward. but if you don't get something you MUST ask her question before she moves on. Her tests are pretty easy if you do the study guide! her quizzes are a little tough but manageable.
Dr. Wang is great! Usually in these labs the TAs do all of the work. Not the case in Dr. Wang's class! She is always available, patient, and ready to help. She tells you everything you need to know for the quizzes, two exams, and the midterm and final reports. The first six quizzes are extra credit so be sure to do well on them! That's 30 points!
I respect Dr. Wang because she is patient yet challenging. Earning an A is not easy in any science class, but Dr. Wang isn't stingy with disclosing how one can do well in her class. I wish that I could have her class for Organic Chemistry II.
She is helpful yes but everything in her slides are "important". Her PowerPoints are compacted of a lot of information which makes it harder to tell what will be on the quiz/test and she speeds through the PowerPoints. She has a sarcastic tone whenever you ask her questions. I wish I had taken another teacher for organic.
Wang expects you to learn fast although the material very well. Homework is pointless, she makes it seem like it's crucial that you did it (as in complete and must be correct). But i reality it was only 2% of your final grade and is not based on correctness but completeness. The homework is time consuming and OWL sucks as a learning mechanism!
Dr. Wang is a strict teacher but I really like her! Her power points extremely helpful. They broke down the information well and were easy to understand! She provided so many practice problems before the exam, I was able to practice and found my weakness! Very clear and helpful, fantastic young lady :-)
Extra practice and ACS questions are in her exams so REALLY study those. Hard subject, but she really loves this subject and will try to get you to understand. Quiz every Friday and she goes over them before exam day. Emails quickly and always answers questions. She's a great professor. Definitely recommend taking her for lecture and lab.
Attend SI. Show up to class at all times (extra credit is usually given when students are least expected to come). Go to her office hours to recheck her grading for all tests and quizzes. Don't take her if you're not going to study on your own. Don't take her with other harder class (you won't do good). Go to office hours and get help if needed.
I honestly wasn't sure if I would pass orgo 1 the first time around because of the heavy course load I was taking. Quiz every week, tests are harder than lecture but she gives extra practice, drops one test and 2 quizzes, extra credit and always available for office hours. Great teacher for a tough class.
I didn't think I would pass orgo 1 because everyone said it was hard and I"m really not good at chemistry but I made an A!! Just study, attend ALL SI sessions and you'll be fine!
Tests aren't easy but focus on quizzes, the reactions and mechanisms she does in class, extra practices she posts, and SI worksheets to study. Orgo 2 is difficult anywhere and Dr. Wang's class is no exception. Definitely go to SI, it's immensely helpful. Orgo 2 requires ALOT of studying and practice. Be aware.
Dr. Wang is a very solid orgo professor. She makes the lectures simple to understand. Her exams can get pretty tricky, but if you study and practice her worksheets and problems in class, you will do perfectly fine. Don't miss class either! Sometimes she would give out extra credit points, and you don't want to miss out on those. :-)
Dr. Wang gave pretty decent lectures, but you could easily access the info outside of class via book or khan academy just because of how standardized Orgo is. She would work with you individually if you prove to put in work. Highly recommend doing the hw.
AWESOME professor, you can tell she really cares about her students. Gives attendance quizzes. She is always prepared and explains things very clearly. She does lots of practice problems in class, which is how I learn best. Her tests are tough but fair, review her practice problems and the quizzes and you'll be set. Lots of extra credit offered.
She's really chill. Tests are pretty easy.
I love Dr. Wang! I think she is a great professor and makes herself accessible for her students. If you try hard and follow her notes and practice you can do well in her class. I took her for both Orgo 1 & 2 & lab!
Dr. Wang was great! This was my first science ONLINE class and I was so nervous about it. She gave very detailed emails for each week of class (which helped a lot!!). And she was alwasy available to me when I had questions. I never lost even though this is online class. I really enjoyed being part of Dr. Wang's class.
As someone who took 1211 with her, HIGHLY recommend to take her. She teaches the material very well in lectures and seems to be flexible with answering any extra questions outside of class. She posts tons of "workshop" practice on iCollege, which are extremely useful in practicing for the exam. I'm glad that I had Dr. Wang as my professor!
I found Dr. Wangs organization to be so helpful. The course follows a set routine, which is great. Material is harder due to online format. Many videos to watch really helps make the content come together.
Overall, I liked Dr. Wang. She was very approachable and nice. I was in a very big lecture hall and she still took the time to answer questions and concerns. They are a few chances for extra credit but for the most part the grade is based on your tests and weekly quizzes. Im not sure if she accepted late grades but I finished with a solid A
Dr. Wang's lectures are pretty straight forward and she posts all of the powerpoint online. Attendance isn't mandatory but you really should try to go to every lecture. She does practice problems and sometimes gives out handouts that she won't post online. The quizzes are easy but the tests are very hard.
Great online professor! Class was difficult but not because of the professor, mainly because it is chemistry & I am not a chem major. Whenever I was confused & would email, the professor always tried the best to answer with good feedback. Provides the textbook for free, in depth powerpoints, worksheets to help do problems like on quizzes and tests.
Very straightforward and simple class. Had no serious or difficult quizzes or exams. She makes the material so simple and understandable. Would take 10 times over if I needed to.
Dr. Wang is a great teacher for chemistry 1. I had her online class she gives us quizzes every Friday which are 10 multiple choice questions. There very easy, also for labs we use the site called Lab Flow, you would have to watch the videos and complete the quiz of from the videos.
This class is fully online and it's not easy. You have to study by yourself and it's not always that simple. If you want to get an A your gonna have to study everyday. There are 4 tests and all of them are multiple choice, but quizzes every week. I wish she did more class time instead of recording videos.
Dr Wang is probably one of the better chem professors at state. She has a little bit of an accent but nothing too difficult to understand. WATCH THE LECTURES AND TAKE NOTES!! It might seem tedious but that helped me get through the semester.
Took as an online class. It was fine but no lectures at all, and for any non-STEM majors who rely on lectures to understand science/math, it can get irritating. Her grading is very uniform, you either get answers wrong or right. Offers some extra credit. If you do the EdPuzzles, practice sheets, and read her PPT, you'll do fine.
Her class is pretty easy if you diligently take notes from her videos every week, and read the assigned chapters. The daily wrap quizzes pretty much aligns with her lectures. And, her exams are also very similar to the homework and quizzes she assigns. Definitely recommend her for Chem 1211k.
Never take online chemistry. This class was hard and there was no face to face instruction. Teachers didn't prepare us that much. This class was too stressful too.
Dr. Wang didn't really give off the impression that she put much care into the class. I emailed her on several occasions and she never gave me clear responses. There were also many errors on homework, quizzes, and tests, some of which never got corrected. Her slides were very clear and informative though, so it is easy to learn from those.
Dr. Wang was a great professor. She was very helpful. She answered emails on time. Exams are so difficult . Final was even worse. Weekly homework, 4 exams, 2 projects, and a final. You need to WORK for this class. Attend SI sessions. She gave out extra credit too.
Dr. Wang was a good professor overall. Class consisted of weekly homework based on reading, 4 exams + 1 make up exam to replace a lower exam grade, 3 projects, and the final exam. She also allowed extra credit work. If you have a hard time understanding accents, she might not be the professor for you. You'll have to read and attended SI to do well.
Dr. Wang made the class way harder than it needed to be. Her accent is really strong so she was hard to understand, and she explained things in the most difficult way possible. I ended up having to teach myself all the material from youtube. Tests were way harder than homework and she was unhelpful when I told her I was struggling in the class.
I've been going to GSU for about 3 years now, and Dr. Wang's teaching approaches are borderline terrible. There is a complete disregard on her behalf for students' other heavy core classes, half of the classes are failing, and she simply boils it down to us being irresponsible. I get it, it's a pandemic. But Dr. Wang, try to care a bit more.
She knows what she's talking about which is very helpful when asking her questions. She replies to emails on time and prepares you for the week with what you're going to learn/do. You have to actively participate in the class (lectures and homework) in order to do well. She has plenty of resources for you to use. Liked her a lot!
I believe most of the bad reviews are because the class is online and a difficult course. Chem is NOT easy and it takes a LOT of work. That being said, class is pretty difficult to fail. As long as you do decent on the exams, you will pass. For online chem 1, Dr. Wang is probably your best option.
Took class online and had to grind to the get grade I got. I didn't attend lectures since I learned nothing from them, and I just watched the weekly lectures that she would post along with self study. Textbook is long and confusing so didn't even bother. Professor had accent which made lectures confusing to understand sometimes. Prepare to work.
I am horrible at science AND online classes, but Dr. Wang was so helpful! She provided a good amount of extra credit and allowed us to miss a few questions and still make a 100%, which I appreciate greatly. Very quick to respond as well! My only real issue with the class was grades don't immediately release, but I understand why.
She's very knowledgeable about chemistry and offers extra credit which will 100% benefit you at the end. Final and tests are hard so try to do well in homework and lab. Great professor overall.
Please make sure to pay attention because if you don't and you miss one thing you will literally be behind. She is a good professor and she breaks down the problems so everyone can understand. She gives extra practice too. The only thing is I just realized she didn't give me my extra credit.
Really didn't like this class at all. The professor was okay, maybe it would have been better in person. GO TO SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION, it will help a LOT!!!! Passing this class requires a lot of extra time studying, be prepared to work for it and most of all, ask for help when you don't understand, or it'll catch up to you!
If you took chem in high school, this class is easy. I knew a lot of the material already, but if you have no background, you will definitely need to go SI sessions and watch lots of Organic Chem Tutor on YT. Lots of extra credit. There is a makeup exam at end of semester that replaces lowest test grade. Lectures are really not that helpful.
Okay so I like her as a person, but as a professor there is no reason to make a lab so hard. Like the quizzes and lab reports are graded so harshly if you don't know what you are doing 100% of the time. I still got my A, but there is no reason why I should be stressed to the max in an AM lab
Honestly not sure if she just doesn't care, but she is not flexible with students at all and does not email back right away. The class content was not that hard to understand but tests seemed tougher than lecture material. Also not a fan of lockdown browser cause it is buggy, requires a mic and camera, and overall is just a hassle. Thumbs down.
She does have a heavy accent, but it didn't get in the way of understanding her lectures- which were so incredibly long and boring. Textbook is optional, free, and useless- just watch her lectures, read the powerpoints, and take your weekly quizzes on time! She gives a ton of extra credit and every test or quiz you take is multiple choice.
For context, I took this during the summer. I will say that the lectures were hard for me to follow on complex concepts. The final exam was "cumulative" but felt like very little of the early units' content was on it. The last two modules were more calculation than the whole class up to that point. She does offer a good bit of extra credit.
Great lady and totally goated.
Do not take this teacher if you are terrible at chemistry. She makes too many mistakes in her practice problems and the material is already confusing enough since she rushes through it. I am only halfway through the semester and I am a bit frustrated.
We had quizzes every Friday on lockdown browser. That were only open from 6 am to 11:59 pm on Friday.
First of all, let me get the obvious things out of the way. Dr. Wang has an accent and because of that many people in her rating say they can't understand her well that is stupid because she literally quotes exactly what is written on the screen in plain English. She gives you very similar questions in her worksheets to her tests and quizzes.
She has really informational and helpful powerpoints that she always posts online. A good amount of assignments but they are helpful to getting a good grade. She is very kind and actually teaches chemistry rather than just assigning a reading or assignments. Really knows her stuff. Weekly online assignments and weekly quizzes. Extremely nice.
Very formulaic, every week is the same, so good for people who enjoy routine. Moves very fast though.
Dr. Wang is really helpful, especially if you ask her questions. Chem 1 can be difficult, so it's important to come to class and pay attention to her lectures. The best way to pass her class is to do the extra practice she gives out. Her lecture slides are very comprehensive.
In order to pass this class, you would need to pay attention bc when you look up, you wouldn't know what is going on. She goes really fast during lecture & would show like one problem & that's it due to time limit. IF YOU WANT TO PASS THIS CLASS PLS STUDY. EXAM IS HARD
Chem is very hard in itself but Dr. Wang is a great professor who makes it easier. There are quite a lot of assignments in the class but they are very routine and do help a lot. She makes the material understandable and explains and guides you through what you need to know, though she is a little fast. She is also accommodating in and out of class.
She was my professor for Chem 1121K.She was very nice and caring. The content does move fast, so you have to study every day/read ahead or your grade will suffer. She creates helpful power points, work sheets, and content with step by step answers. The lectures are mostly a review, and are the same format every day. If you try you will do good.
She is a very very nice professor. Signing up for CHEM can be very nerve-racking, but she made it less complicated. She is very routine-based, most weeks are the same. You'll do fine if you pay attention to her lectures and do the workshops. The exams are a little tough, but not extremely hard. She does have a slight accent, but it's manageable.
Even if you are not a chemistry or biology major, take her! She knows her stuff and even though lectures aren't required she gives out bonus points if you come. She's super helpful and offers lots of resources (especially in lecture) to help you understand the material and do well in the course, and for lab, she's also great. I highly recommend her
Great professor as far as giving plenty extra credit, lectures come from powerpoint, so basically study the powerpoint to pass but she gives plenty worksheets during course, tells you what to memorize but shes not visual so the class is difficult for a visual learner.
She is a nice teacher and gave a lot of extra credit points. Her lectures are based on her PowerPoints, but she goes over examples in class which is really helpful. There are four tests, but one gets dropped, and there are quizzes every Friday. A worksheet is also due every Thursday, but it is based on the PowerPoint.
This class requires a lot of time. Many weekly assignments required. She is a harsh grader but the final tends to bump your grade up a whole letter grade. She explains things well when you have questions. Occasionally gives pop assignments as extra credit. Overall a really good professor who will help you succeed.
I took Dr. Wang for the spring 23'. Her lectures are very fast paced and it is a lot of material but each topic connects with one another. Her exams are tough but multiple choice and does drop the lowest grade at the end. She curves the final grade which is good. Does give weekly assignments but are fairly easy. Definitely would take her again.
Dr. Wang was a great professor and lab instructor! She is very approachable and instructs in a very clear manner. Lecture attendance is not mandatory, but pretty much everything on the tests and exam is covered in lectures. 10/10 would take again!
She was very nice and clear in her lectures. She told you before hand when the quizzes were going to be.
Doesn't give out many opportunities for extra credit: there was just a survey at the beginning of the semester and some ACS study assignment at the end. Anyway, I hope the prof will curve our grades.
I took her in the Summer 2023, and I think she's a great professor who provides me everything I need to succeed in the course. To me, it's just the course itself that is kind of scary... But she's pretty chill overall. She actually might be a bit fast sometimes though.
Professor Wang was a really good chemistry teacher. She was very clear with her instruction and everything on the test was in the lectures. If you attend all the lectures, your studying time will decrease. She also provides enough material to help. Her teaching is a bit faster, so you have to keep up.
Overall, she was a very considerate professor. I know objectively Chemistry is a difficult course, but she condenses all of the content into powerpoints and handouts, which made it much simpler for me to study and prepare for exams. It is a fast paced course mostly, but sometimes she did not finish covering a chapter before we had a quiz or exam.
Very chill and understanding professor. She wants you to succeed as much as possible and will spend a lot of time offering you constructive feedback. Sometimes she is a bit hard to understand/ lab lectures were not 100% due to a language barrier, but she has a really great attitude about teaching and is a very lenient grader.
She's great with making sure you understand the material. Chemistry does require a lot of self-study itself, but her note sheets help a lot to prepare you for the final. Weekly HW also helped a lot to get some practice problems in and posts workshops as extra (optional) practice. She cares about her students and really sets you up for success!
I liked Dr wang she holds many opportunities were you can get help after class. She does go really fast but honestly its expected taking a science class. Her study session are amazing it helped me on test. if you take many notes and go to class everyday you can pass. Not much assignments. 4 test and final
Dr. Wang is great. The course is heavy, but this is expected from a Chem class. The homework is easy and few. The quizzes are quite hard, but she drops the 2 lowest. There are 4 exams, 1 gets dropped. Attendance is optional but GO ANYWAY. My only complaint is she does not answer questions over email, so you will need to go to office hours.
I had Professor Wang for CHEM1212K Lab and she was amazing, in the pre-lab she will go over the procedures of the experiment and go over how to do the calculations. During lab itself she is always walking around checking on students and is very careful. TAKE HER FOR AN EASY TIME IN LAB.
Dr. Wang is pretty cool. As long as you do well on 3 of the 4 tests, then you're pretty much set for a good grade. Make sure you show up to class as the lectures are very dense and although she rushes through them a lot, it's not too with self-studying.
TAKE HER IF YOU COULD!!! She was one of the best professors. Taking this class scared me at first, but everything went well. Use all her resources, and you will do great in this class. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended as she will give extra credits on random days.
Really good professor for chem 1. wish she taught chem 2 as well. she curves a lot and gives us worksheets that she works through in class and its the perfect review material for exams and quizzes.
Attendance isn't mandatory but it really helps. She does have an accent but it's nothing crazy and it's still pretty easy to understand her. That being said, chem 1211k is a pretty hard course so don't hesitate to attend office hours or go to the tutoring center.
It's a typical online class, lectures are posted every week and there is a quiz every week and exams occasionally. You have to make sure you take notes on the lecture as everything is built up. She is understanding but not much engagement apart from the lectures.
TAKE HER SHE IS AMAZING. Tests are relatively easy just read the slides and do the practice on college and you'll be set to get at least a 90 on any given test. Just try to get an A+ on the first two and at least a B on the third test and you'll be guaranteed an A+; since one of the tests is excluded. Don't overthink the class and you'll be set!
Took her for Ochem 1 lab. She's a great lab instructor, although her accent can be just a little hard to understand at times. She's very understanding and will answer any question in lab. I asked her a million questions about the experiments and she always answered them. She also tries to make pre-lab more enjoyable and less daunting with jokes
Cool professor, cant teach tho and an exam the week after break is insane work.
She is very understanding of student's circumstances. She wants her students to succeed.
A blessing in disguise fr. I struggled a lot at first but that's because I didn't give myself enough time to digest the information. However, she provides lots of resources, help and extra credit. There's homework and quizzes due every week, and exams every so often. She genuinely wants her students to do well and pass, please take her!!
A very good professor who wants all her students to pass. Has a quiz every week and offers extra credit. Explains material very well as long a you do the homework and practice problems you'll understand the information for tests and quizzes.
It's a lot of content to digest, but you'll pass if you pay attention to the lectures and do the practice /homework. 8 HW, 4 online quizzes/ 4 F2F, and 5 exams (incl. final). She has a slight accent, but it's not bad. Honestly, very graceful when grading and she'll stay back to answer any questions. Overall, respectable and understanding professor.
Dr. Wang was an excellent professor. She made her lectures easy to understand and handed out worksheets to further explain the concepts (done in class with her). She also uploads workshop practice questions and answers for studying. There was a bit of homework and quizzes, however they are very easy. Lots of dropped grades and extra credit!
Chemistry is a very difficult topic, but Dr. Wang tries her best for her students to pass. Attend class, study outside of class, attend tutoring sessions, and putting forth a good amount of effort will help pass this class. There are EC opportunities and lowest scores get dropped. Hard class, but with effort you can do good.
Something about the way chemistry is taught in college just has to change. Dr. Wang is just the "man in the middle" she was nice, but theres only so much that can be done when you struggle to comprehend a notoriously difficult subject.
Dr. Wang is great! She's an awesome professor who keeps it REAL. She expects a lot from her students because Chem I is not the easiest course. However, she makes herself available for her students before class, after class, and for study sessions. There's plenty of extra credit opportunities to take advantage of. I feel ready for Chem II.
Solid professor overall. I liked the way that lectures were taught, as I could clearly see how to do certain calculations and how to use formulas. She also provided a lot of extra materials on icollege to make sure we understood what was being taught.
Couldn't really understand much of what she was saying.
Shes amazing. I think she's the best chem teacher I've heard of. She is so clear about what the quizzes and test are going to be. She drops a lot of assignments too. She provides so many study sheets and group study opportunities that are so so helpful. Dr. Wang only wants you to succeed and her lectures are seriously the best pls take her !!
Very good professor. You can tell English isn't her first language, so at times her dialect is very strong, but it still understandable. Do the practice sheets she gives, and if you can, go to her group study sessions. Chemistry will forever be hard but she helps make it easier.
She is an amazing professor! She genuinely cares about the success of her students. She is super quick to respond to emails and is very helpful outside of class. There is a lot of extra credit for attendance, so make sure to watch out for that. I strongly dislike chemistry, but she made it bearable :)
For a chemistry class, Dr. Wang is definitely not one of the worst professors youd get here at GSU. Its clear she cares about her students. Her tests are tough. Go to her lectures!! Attendance is not mandatory though. We do have a textbook but it's free and she doesnt ask for any work from it. Drops a test grade. Doesn't curve but theres exceptions
She is an AMAZING professor. She explains everything in detail which helps people to comprehend the content. Her homework, quizzes and exams are not too hard, make sure you study and you'll be alright. During her lectures, lecture notes/worksheets are given and filled out. Only blank copies of them are found in iCollege- ATTEND CLASS!
