He's a clear and informative lecturer. On top of that, he tries his hardest to cater to every student in the class, to make sure that everyone understands the material. As a result, they do! By the end of the course, due to the professor's persistence, everyone has a good grasp of cancer biology basics. That is the mark of a good teacher.

THE best professor I've had at GW. One of the few professors who are able to keep his students awake and interested in the course material for 2 hours straight. This was my second class with Professor Meerzaman. I'm sad that he doesn't teach any other classes because he is a great teacher. You can tell that he is teaching because he loves to teach and he loves his students and he's invested in making sure everyone understands the material.

My favorite science professor at this school. He's so clear and he all he really wants you to do is learn. Learning comes first, grades come second. Long exams, night class but worth it. Best class of college. Took it my last semester of senior year, when concentration is a struggle, but not for this class. The professor's passion for cancer research comes through. I can't recommend this highly enough. The material was practical, up-to-date, and incredibly interesting. The knowledge is technical, but Dr. Meerzaman relates EVERYTHING to real life, and this helps you contextualize it and appreciate it for how relevant it all is. Had him for Biology of Cancer and I could not be happier. Fascinating class, I just wish I had taken it during the fall and not the summer so that I could get even more out of the class. It felt a little rushed some lectures due to it only being a 5 week course, but he made sure that everyone understood and was always available for questions.

Popular prof loved by students! Attendance is a must. No textbook - all information given in class so take good notes! Midterm + final is your entire grade, but he is extremely helpful and willing to help clarify material. Take this class and Cancer Bio!

I highly recommend Dr. Meerzaman's Cell Biology & Biology of Cancer courses. You will learn and have fun. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the topics. While the class size is large, Dr. Meerzaman shows a great interest in his students' success.

The long wait lists to get into his classes speak for themselves. Lecture attendance and good notes are a must. His lectures are very clear and there is no text. Long tests, but fair grading policies. His background as the director of R&D at the Natl Cancer Institute and GW alum makes him very passionate about helping students and giving advice.

The only grades were two (very long) exams. But the exam material is made very clear and the lectures are informative and fun. The class is long by nature of the fact it is a once a week course rather than twice a week but it's worth it.

His lectures are crystal clear. He'll explain complex metabolic pathways but by the end, you will actually understand every part. You'll fail if you don't go to class, but a relatively easy A if you do. Ask questions and he'll write you a rec for grad/med school. Exams are long and each 50% of your grade, but he gives you enough time. Great guy.

The best prof you will have. Very clear in expectations and fair in grading. Showing up isn't required but essential. Although it's a tough class, if you show up, take notes, pay attention, and study, there's no reason you can't get a B+, if not A in this class.

Def take this class. He's super interesting and hilarious. Makes even the harder to grasp topics understandable and will go over exams with you if you have questions. Answers any type of question and doesnt mind reexplaining as much as you need. Super encouraging and an amazing prof. Makes long lectures seems short. 2 exams only.

Dr. Meerzaman wants every student to do well in his class and clearly understand the Biology of Cancer. He cares so much about the students and always is willing to help whenever possible. His tests are long and thorough but his lectures are clear.

The material for this class isn't the easiest but D.M. was always willing to review it with us, explain it in new ways, and wouldn't move on until we were comfortable with the material. He made us work for our grade but if you stay engaged and ask questions you can achieve an A.

All the material on the tests is based off of his lectures, no textbook used. If you attend the lectures and get good notes you will do very well on the exams. He's high up in the NIH so he knows his stuff in cancer bio. Explains all concepts very clearly, step by step, and repeats himself if people don't understand. Write down what he says, study a couple days before, and regurgitate the info on the 2 exams, you'll get an A. Ask questions in class so he learns your name! It makes a difference.

Dr. Meerzaman is the best bio professor I've had in my four years at GW. The lectures were long and very detailed but he's such an engaging lecturer that the time flies by. You can tell he loves teaching, is very excited about the material, and wants each and every student to get it.

Meerzaman is an engaging professor, and the actual material is interesting. There is no textbook for the class, so it's important to go to lectures in order to keep up with the material. That being said, he strongly encourages questions, and students aren't afraid to get things clarified. The class consists of a midterm and a final. So study hard!

Two and a half hour lectures go by pretty quickly, the topics are extremely interesting and he is a fantastic lecturer. You'd be hard-pressed to find a professor more respectable than Dr. Meerzaman. He's extremely knowledgeable, and his lectures - even at 3 hours long and FULL of information - are riveting from start to finish. His tests cover an extensive amount of material, but they're also fair - if you attended class, took notes and studied, you'll do just fine.

This prof is amazing, I'm a senior and he is the best I've had!! He really does care about his students and even though lectures are 2.5 hours long I always leave energized and wanting to learn more. If he taught more classes I would sign up immediately because he makes learning so accessible and fun.

Don't be scared that it's a 2.5 hour night class with only a midterm and a final. It's a lot of info but it's really easy if you just go to class and study. He's very clear and won't move onto another topic unless if everyone understands it. He really cares for his students and loves teaching. The 2.5 hours flies by because he makes it interesting.

One of my all time favorite classes! HAVE to go to lectures, but he keeps it really engaging so you'll want to. He'll give the important topics as stories - listen closely and write as much as you can. It makes it easier to remember but he does want detail for the exams. If you go to lecture and take good notes you'll set yourself up for success!

Often times professors who are experts in their fields have a hard time explaining concepts to students; Professor Meerzaman is different from these professors as he takes the time to carefully and slowly teach his students. He genuinely cares about the education of his students and is very dedicated to the class.

Your grade for the class is 50% midterm/50% final which seems terrible at first but Meerzaman makes it worthwhile and not too bad! He's incredibly passionate about what he does and I've never met a more caring professor. Meerzaman will make sure every single person understands something before moving on, and really makes sure you know the material!

Dr. Meerzaman is my favorite professor at GW. Taken 2 classes with him now- Molecular Bio and Bio of Cancer- and while neither were by any means easy, they were great classes. Learned a lot of relevant material that was on the MCAT. He always makes class entertaining and tells you exactly what he expects from you on the exam! 100% recommend!

Although Cancer Biology is lecture heavy and with a lot of material, Dr. Meerzaman makes the conscious effort to ensure that each student is up to pace. Daoud Meerzaman is a 1 in a million teacher. Funny, relatable, and passionate about his field, you're missing out if you don't take this class. I cannot say enough about Dr. Meerzaman. He was SO accomodating with our 2 Respondus exams (changing timings, shifting it later due to conflicts etc.) You need to attend lecture + rewatch them to do well but he doesn't trick you on exams, they're very fair and he will help you as much as possible. honestly the best bio prof at GWU :)

Prof M is an amazing lecturer who wants all his students to do well. You can tell he teaches because he loves teaching. He makes 2.5 hour lectures go by so fast and the course material is all very interesting. Only two exams make up your entire grade. That being said, this was my favorite class at GW. The lectures are extremely fun and interesting. Make sure to take good notes and attend every lecture. Sometimes lectures can be a bit disorganized especially in the second half but still overall a great choice.

Lectures were great. He is slightly unorganized and contradicted himself on what would be on the final exam. Some of the questions on our final included terms that weren't in any of the lectures and some required way more memorization than he explicitly stated we would need. Great guy but needs to be more consistent.

He was extremely accessible and answered questions clearly and in depth. It was one of my favorite courses this semester. I'd recommend it to anyone who has an understanding of basic bio concepts.

Professor Meerzaman was incredibly passionate and inspiring in his lectures. The lectures are clear and convey the content well. He focuses on the learning process rather than learning for a grade. He has been supportive throughout the entire course, and encourages his students to apply their knowledge IRL. He is one of the best professors at GWU.

Professor Meerzaman is one of the best professors I have had thus far at this university. Not only is this class incredibly interesting, but he makes the lectures very entertaining and keeps his students engaged. The course is not easy, and has complex topics- but as long as you study every week and go to office hours, you will be fine!

Dr. Meerzaman is no by far one of the best professors at GW. His lectures go by quickly and are so interesting studying actually seems enjoyable. He is more passionate and accessible than 90% of other professors I have met and cares so much about his students and their genuine understanding of cancer, biology, and some history. Take this class!

Professor Meerzaman is incredibly knowledgeable and funny. His sense of humor and good energy definitely made the class very enjoyable. As a heads up... you should know the course is slightly challenging because you have to memorize a lot of material... However, I definitely recommend this course if you are interested in learning about cancer!

This class is one of the best I have taken. Lectures are very interesting and he connects the topics we learn to stories. We had a midterm and a final, each being 45% of the grade and two quizzes. The exams goes in depth, however he lets you know during the lectures what will be important to know and tells you what slides to review before the exam.

10/10 huge fan of this professor. Learned so much and the lectures were easy to learn from! Tests definitely need to be studied for, but thats the usual anyway. Excellent class.

Bio of Cancer is a great class and you learn a lot and Professor Meerzaman is extremely knowledgeable and a great professor. The grade is based on 2 exams that are long and difficult but if you study the material in advance you will do well. Professor Meerzaman really cares about his students and wants them to do well. Make sure you go to lecture!

Although this course is difficult, Prof Meerzaman is amazing! Very knowledgable and wants all his students to succeed. He also makes the lectures interesting and engaging. Course grade is just the midterm, final, and 2 quizzes but it is possible to do well as long as you put in effort. Very much recommend him!!!

This class was basically pure memorization which was stressful at times, but Meerzaman is so enthusiastic and knowledgable about what he teaches. When I think of biology, I don't think of Charles Darwin or Gregor Mendel, I think of Daoud Meerzaman.

This class is HARD. If you space out in class or do not attend, you will fail. You must write down every single thing he says and regurgitate it on the exam exactly to get full credit. He is very funny and makes class interesting, but do not take if you're looking for an easy A to fill a requirement.

Dr. Meerzaman is an amazing professor (and really funny). Hands down, one of the best professors GW has. You can tell he's extremely knowledgeable and knows what he's talking about. You will learn so much in this class that's applicable to every day (and will stick with you for the rest of your life).

Truly one of the best Professors I've had. This class is hard, as you're only graded by 2 exams, but the Professor makes lectures super fun and interesting. He really cares for every one of his students, so if you need anything, talk to him. He is super understanding and will do his best to accommodate. Thank you for everything Professor!

Professor Meerzaman's BISC2213 class is challenging but incredibly engaging. His lectures are packed with enthusiasm and interesting insights. While the exams require serious memorization, using unstuckstudy AI alongside the free textbook helped streamline my prep. Definitely take this class if you're up for a rewarding biology experience.

This professor is amazing! He is super passionate and knowledgeable about the course. He makes jokes and gives people time to ask questions. Attend the lectures since the slides themselves don't give you information. As long as you take detailed notes and get good notes from a classmate (if you miss a class) you should be fine.

I took this class Fall'23 and was so shocked to see that it hasn't filled up yet that I had to come write this. I can still recall the specifics of at least half of what we learned after a year. This is my favorite class I have ever taken and Dr. Meerzaman is one of a kind. He has a true talent for teaching it made the material seem easy (it wasnt)

Dr. Meerzaman is a gem of a professor and I HIGHLY recommend everyone to take Cancer Bio. Dr. Meerzaman explains complex topics in a way that allows them to be understood easily. He has a good sense of humor which helps keep the class lighthearted. He is very accessible and is willing to help students succeed. I can't recommend his class enough!!

A lot of studying will be involved as your grade is basically only dependent on the midterm and final so I highly suggest attending lectures or you're basically done for. While this is a very hard class, Prof. Meerzaman explains concepts and topics to know in such an entertaining way that it's hard to forget.

Dr. Meerzaman is hilarious and a great lecturer. Two exams, but sometimes the way he presents information and the questions asked can be convoluted. Not super accessible outside of class. Class was really interesting, but be ready to show up to lecture.

THE BEST PROFESSOR AT GW. I learned so much from this class, more than what two semesters of introductory biology had ever taught me. While you were only graded on 2 exams worth 50% each, he emphasizes what will be on the exam during lecture. He loves his students and will do everything to help you succeed. Take this class and don't skip lecture !!

What an absolute beast of a professor, funny. knowledgable, charismatic. Course content is difficult but his breadth of knowledge and skill as an instructor make everything manageable.

Super knowledgeable teacher. His lectures are awesome and funny. There's no additional reading or assignments outside of the midterm and final exam, but he plans several review sessions and will give you example questions prior to the test if you show up.
