her lectures just restate the reading, and she goes really fast. keep up with your reading and homework problems!!! she's pretty cynical, but she'll help you during office hours.

The school might as well pay the textbook company for a powerpoint presentation. She used another teachers practice midterm, then wrote her own. Her test didn't even resemble the practice. Avg 56/120. That's not so funny, and neither is she.
Her lectures, basically, are word for word from pre-made powerpoints. She doesn't clarify much of what she says. She also reminds me of the RA from a cancelled mtv cartoon show called "undergrads."
Her lectures are ridiculouly pointless.. The notes shes uses and also posts are useless. She often rambles about wierd chem related BS that isnt relevant to the upcoming tests. The material isnt hard but she just confuses the heck outa people..
monotonous & nasally voice, horrible lecturer, makes a big deal out of people leaving the hall, not helpful at all. her lectures consist of restating whatever is written in the book, almost verbatim. to survive, you NEED to take notes from the book

The lectures are horrible as she cannot complete a full sentence without throwing in a long, low pitched, "Uhhhhhhhhmmmm," that totally throws you off. Her midterm was ridiculous, nothing like the simple problems she goes over in lecture.
SHe posted a practice midterm online and when she gave the answers to the class, she got three of them wrong and didn't know how to do one of them.

Lectures are pointless. you are better off studying by yourself for 50 mins than listening to her confusing power point presentations that work only 50% of the time, and that is on a good day.

Terrible teacher. COnfuses students and herself frequently and lectures are not only boring, but no information is obtained from them. ppt lectures can be obtained from internet - all she does is read them. Bad attitude towards teaching too.
Stay away from this professor. Although she may understand the topics, she is poor at explaining it to the class. The lecture notes were posted before the lecture, so class would be worthless. I learned 95% of the material from my T.A. and the book.

I thought at first that this prof just couldn't teach well, but she kept messing up on simple problems, sometimes more than once in the same problem. She might just be rusty, but that doesn't help students who need to LEARN THE MATERIAL from her. Avoid.
She doesn't teach at all, she just goes over slides and explects you to know how to do it. Very ugly and has a mullet. 35 min lectures where you don't learn anything.

this professor could not teach at all! My best advise is not to go to lectures, and just read the book. All her lectures are directly cutted and pasted from the book, and she explains nothing, she just reads her powerpoint presentation! drop her class!!!
I would not recommend this professor. Her lecture are unclear and her exams have nothing to do with what she talks about in class. Very confusing. If you are learning the material for the first time, do not take her class. Avoid if at all possible.

After she messed up on a scientific notation example during the first lecture of the quarter, I decided my time would be better invested with the book. Go find someone else, this woman is hopeless.
The lectures are so dull and boring. She teaches off of a projector. The worst thing about it is they're pages from the book so she's really retelling you things from the book that you can read yourself. She doesn't teach to the class at all!

i took her fall quarter and i still HATE her, honestly if ur not gonna pay attention in class do not go at all, save urself an hour and a headache and teach urself
ugh, horrible teacher! she just lectures off her notes and expects us to know what she's talking about. i didn't know what she was talking about 90% of the time. only learned by reading the book. lecture was totally pointless. don't take her!

this professor was off the hook....she was so nice...if you read the book, you were good to go. Going in to see her during office hours was what really helped me. I think you should have her for 2a. Her exams ain't hard!
If you go to office hours and read the book you'll do fine. However, she is a horrible lecturer, and doesn't answer questions clearly, but I think she means well. If you're easily annoyed don't take her class.
she hates her job, and it shows. she gets slides from the book publisher and reads them verbatim! the only good thing about the class is that you can skip the lectures and still do okay.

Whoever hired this B!7ch should be fired along with her. She is terrible. Everything about her is terrible, from her boring voice to the way she reads off the notes that she puts online. Unless you have a thing for middle-aged moms, don't take her!
I couldn't help but fall asleep 15 minutes into her lectures. I tried sitting up front a few times, but her loud monotonous voice made me that more tempted to doze off right in front of her. Her lectures were a waste of time! Grr!

Don't go to lecture! Check out the sylabus she posts and use that to read the book and teach yourself chemistry. Beware she likes to give longwinded off topic speeches!

Great professor; would recommend her to any incoming freshmen. Despite what people say, her lectures are focused and tests are fair. An outgoing friendly personality, easy to talk to. Likes to tell chemistry jokes and cool stories. Makes class enjoyable.

Very nice lady. Writes things on the board clearly and works them out with the class. Sometimes uses powerpoint, which can help. Tests and homework are fair. She will prepare you for real chemistry. And her daughter is adorable!
Read the book and do the practice midterms. Don't even bother going to the class before the midterm because it doesn't help...if you do the homework and read the book on your own, you have a better chance of passing versus actually going to lecture.

She is so uncool. I like how she is a monotone with a bit off off key cracks, and her never ending bad jokes. I like her poofy hair, and other unseemly factions. And I am still wonder what she is talking about because it is as helpful as not going to class.

Look... I went to about half the lectures before the first and second midterms and I studied by reading the book and doing the practice probs... I got an A- on the first midterm and a A-/B+ again on the second midterm. Bottom line... just study hard, lectures aren't so important.

aite she is nice, but any professor can be nice. basically u gotta teach yourself.DON'T take this teacher. voice is monotone. tests are hard. and her curve for the final was the same for the first midterm. weak sauce. lectures get smaller everytime u go and that says alot!
If you are going to take Gilbert's course, ask yourself: "Can I teach myself?" If you can learn the material on your own and have some sort of foundation in Chemistry already, you should be fine. I cut lectures all the time and I got an A in the class.
I didn't go to class and read the chapters before the test and got an A. The only time I did go to class was to make fun of her enormous pants and butch haircut. All aside, she seemed nice and you can get a good grade if you can read and understand chemistry.
Lectures come straight from the book. Tests were multiple choice, which saved my ass. Nice, friendly lady who is willing to help. Take this class if you dont know anything about chemistry; you can still pull a B or an A.

She is a nice lady, but god damn her lectures are soooooooooo booooring. Midterms and Final were fairly easy. I attended only the first couple of lectures, and slept through all of them. Overall she's not that bad.
