He was my Stats proff. and he was great! He was clear, organized and made the class fun.
About the most logical and organized professor at VCU. Very, very helpful with all his students. Really wants them all to succeed.
mays rocks my socks!!! He is the best Stats teacher, I am lame at math and he helped me work my butt off for a good grade!
I'm terrible at math but Mays is good. He's a younger guy and very clear about the steps you have to go through for math problems. I have the other guy Bauer too. He is awful. If you need 210 this is your best bet
Really nice, organized, and a total cutie!
the most organized professor; material is helpfula dn to the point and going to lecture really helped- TOTAL CUTIE- DEFINITELY TAKE HIM- HE IS WORTH IT!!!!!:)
One of the best teachers i have had at VCU! TAKE HIS CLASS!! He is very clear, and the class is really easy even if you aren't good at math! REALLY NICE GUY TOO!! REALLY WANTS STUDENTS TO SUCCEED!!!!
dont take baeur or sherman, take mays!
Great Teacher, Easy to follow lectures, always available.
Prof. Mays is the best stats professor! He is very passionate and knows that we are not all statistics scholars and are only taking this as general education requirement. He teaches what he thinks is necessary and moves on. Take his class!
Dr. Mays is amazing and I adore him!!!!
I was in his honors section and i still found the class incredibly easy, this was because he is such a GREAT TEACHER!!!!! He knows his stuff and how to teach it! YOU WANT HIM AS YOUR STATISTICS TEACHER! TRUST ME!
I liked him :)
He's a GREAT teacher. I've had very few of them at VCU, but he's one. Really clear instructions, KNOWS HOW TO TEACH. Definitely a winner.
Really fun and easy class, this guy is genuinely a good dude and makes everything really clear.
HE is the Greatest teacher ever and a very nice person. He can go out of his way to help his students if required.
he reminds me of forrest gump...such a sweet teacher! he's always willing to help and knows his subject well =)
This is most well planned and well thought out class u will find at VCU, he knows how to teach, makes things clear, and always willing to help. Also, he is hot and nice to look at! haha
even though i hate math, dr mays made this class less stressful for me. he was very clear and helpful. if you need statistics, take his course.
incredibly easy class. uses cps to grade which means you have to show up for class or you give up 5% of your final grade. good teacher, kinda goofy but funny
awesome professor....he explains everything so clear...funny cause he does remind me of Forest Gump too....I think its the hair...anyways...I STRONGLY recommend those who take stat210 to take it with Professor Mays
I previously took statistics in my senior year of high school, so I already had a clear understanding of the concepts. Mays explains everything well, and he makes learning statistics fun with his interesting powerpoint slides.
Great teacher! He knows his stuff. His powerpoint slides are very fun (esp 007 example, you'll know what I mean). Take his class!
Great teacher. He's pretty goofy, but he teaches well and if you just go to class and do all the work then you'll definitely get a good grade. Try to take him if you have to take STAT-210.
great teacher! very clear and to the point! humorous which makes the class interesting. He uses his own text book that he wrote so that's good too. He's pretty cool! kinda reminds me of tom hanks a bit.
He is so cute and corny, but that's what makes the class fun! He is VERY easy to understand, and the CPS questions give you an easy 5 percent of your grade. Study the text and do some of the receommended problems and you should be a-okay!
I've taken 6 grad classes so far and Dr. Mays is the best instructor by far. He is very clear and extremely helpful. You will really learn a lot in this class and don't need to be intimidated if you are not a Stats person. He will help you through the class.
Absolutely Excellent.
YOU MUST GO TO CLASS!! IF YOU DON'T GO....YOU WILL FAIL. :) GREAT COURSE THO!
dr. mays is awesome!

Very clear and reasonable. Good teacher! Dry subject.
I HATED stat in high school, dull as hell. But I became much more interested in the subject after taking his class...
His class was the only 9AM class that I could stay awake in. He does a great job of presenting boring material in an interesting way. He even uses the concepts that he teaches when he gives you your grade, giving the mean grade and standard deviation for the entire class. If you get someone else for STAT 210, drop it immediately and take Mays' class ASAP!
EXCELLENT, professor I wish he taught all of my classes. He's funny and make the class worth the while. I never have to look at my watch and hoping for class to be over in this class. I just thought time fly too fast.
made the class very interesting and humorous - definitely reccommend!
I've had statistics before and knew my material before this. But he is a great professor and teaches difficult material in lecture in an easy, understandable way. I highly recommend him if you need to take 210. CPS, so you will have to show up to most of the classes.
By far the best stat professor ever! No excuses- you HAVE to take him for statistics. Easy A as long as you read the workbook he provides and go to class because of CPS. His class is never boring.
Extremely well organized and structured class. Excelent lecturer who rarely ever slips up. I was dreading this class going in, but walked away with a B with minor effort. If you get the chance take this prof. Just make sure you go to class.
Dr. Mays is the best teacher that I have had at VCU. I am horrible in math, but because he is so good at lecturing and using the workbook, I managed an A in there. He is very clear with what he talks about and lays it out step by step. Definitely register for his class if you need a stat course.
I was really dreading this class because of all the bad things I've heard about college-level statistics. But Dr. Mays definitely lifts all those perceptions. He's clear in his lectures, and very funny too. Study his supplement, and you should get an A. I only studied an hour for the final and got a 97! Highly recommended course, take it!
I had heard dreadful things about STAT 210, but this class breaks all those labels. It is INCREDIBLY easy. Mays is very, very clear and articulate. He is precise and informativ. Very understandable lectures and slides. His supplement is also very clear and easy. I sleep in this class and make A's. I only hate the CPS questions he has every lecture.
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. He truely cares about teaching things the right way. Very thorough, funny, interested, enthusiastic, easygoing, clear, and caring. Math is my worst subject, and I've never been good at it. But I got an A in the class. It was a miracle, but it was thanks to this professor. Do your homework, the lectures help a lot.
loves what he does and has a passion for the subject. must go to class for cps. i wish he taught all of my classes, VERY helpful and understanding if u have a question about ur grade he's happy to reconsider it. tests are str8 foward no tricks if you go 2 class and use the study guide u'll do well! makes u want to come 2 class too!
omg! he spends 30 out of 50 min of the class period saying what we have done in the past, what we will do now, and what we will do in the future... SO annoying! he makes the subject sound so hard but it's really the easiest math class of your life. too bad you have to go to class b/c of CPS. Take him because he is incredibley easy!
Amazing teacher. He really cares about helping his students
great professor!! still remember what i learned in his class!
Excellent teacher for stat 210, I advise to take no other. I'm horrible in math and I managed to get 100's on his tests. He's friendly and and knows his stuff. Study the tests posted on BB, and review the book he wrote and you'll get an A.
Dr. Mays is the best professor I've ever had. I HATE math and I got like a 98 in his class. He makes things very simple and helps you understand, no matter what. Just make sure you go to class!
easy class, easy a. The people who dont get a's are the ones who do not go to class or lab. he does CPS and that is an easy 14% if you go to class....great teacher and a great class
Im surprised how these guys like this professor..I have never ever met a guy that hardheaded..i think he logs on to this website everyday and says something nice & different about himself..all i can say now is that i wish i had taken the class with someone else ..Never take stat with this guy be careful..
he's a really good teacher. he tries to make his lectures interesting and understandable. His class is pretty easy if you go to class and pay attention.
Mays loves his job and it shows because he actually makes Statistics fun sometimes. His assignments are very manageable and his study sessions are an asset to passing the tests. Even even wrote his own textbook, so everything fits together. I have recommended him to everyone. Try to get Dr. Merrick as your lab instructor!
Mays is a great prof.! He wrote the supplement text that you use in the class, which is cheap(he doesn't make you buy the real textbook that someone else wrote). Quizzes in labs prepare you for exams, which aren't bad if you practice a few problems and understand the info on lab quizzes. Overall, Mays is Definitely Recommended!
He is the greatest teacher I ever had so far. Apart from being such a wonderful teacher he is a wonderful human being too. He has helped me always and whenever I felt troubled with any academic issues ,I knew where to go. After my MS I did move to other deptt but he has always helped me whenever I approached him.I dont know how to thank him. All
Kinda quirky (puts random celebs all over his power points...), but obviously into the subject. The supplement book will be your Bible and will serve you well.
Best teacher ever. You don't have to go to class as long as you email him your homework due every Monday. Don't get the textbook, just his supplement, his powerpoints are word for word. Really funny teacher, he likes what he's teaching. Make sure you have a T1-83 or 84, he doesn't make you show your work for anything. The honors project was easy.
Dr. Mays is a GREAT teacher. He only requires you to but the supplement (that he wrote) to the textbook, which saves you TONS of money. The supplement goes word for word with his lectures- no need to print out powerpoints. Also, don't get too upset if you don't get him- all the other STAT 210 teachers use his book, lectures, quizzes, tests, etc.
HE ROCKS! What a cool dude. I love this guy! He's hilarious, sweet, helpful, and a just plain great teacher. He somehow manages to make statistics fun!
I was in the honors section and the only difference was the honors project which was as SUPER EASY as the rest of the class! Dr. Mays is an awesome professor and you will be guaranteed an A (honors or not) as long as you do the focus exercises and have a TI-83 for the exams! He's very helpful and funny too!
Dr. Mays was such a great prof. He made stats really fun. He posts all his lectures online which is extremely helpful! If you have to take Stats, take it with Dr. Mays! He's so helpful too!
He is an excellent teacher! You can't ask for better! Makes statistics so understandable and even easy. Take him if you know what's good for you.
Dr. Mays is amazing! Take STAT210 with him! As long as you go to class and do the work you are guaranteed an A! Before tests he posts a practice test which helps ALOT on the test! Follow the supplement! TAKE HIM!!
Boring. He repeats things endlessly, and you can learn everything he teaches in two lectures during a half-hour review in the lab. Very easy, though.
Dr. Mays is an excellent professor. He really cares about you actually learning the material rather than just faking thru it. Attendance is checked by clicker so go to class. Yes its boring, its stats, duh...but he will help you with anything you dont get and has great TA's. He even helped me with a project for psyc that dealt with stats!
great Professor!!!!!! The best in statistics. I wished he taught calculas.
He wrote the book you use so no need to take notes... just bring a highlighter. The tests aren't bad at the beginning but get harder as the year goes on. Uses CPS ritually and grades on correctness. The final is crucial so make sure you keep your grade up all the way trhough the year.
Professor Mays is excellent, there is no other way to put it. He is very familiar with the subject material, and makes it simple for students of any background. Tests increase in difficulty, but are never too much, and the project was not too tough either.
Dr. Mays taught my Honor Seminar class last semester and he was amazing. Extremely helpful, nice, and easy! One of the best at VCU!!!
He's a very good professor. he makes statistics fun and easy. he's the guy that wrote the text. he's also very easy to talk to and helpful. def one of the best at VCU. I went to the weekly review sessions which are also very helpful. if you do what ur supposed to do. you should be able to get at least a B.
He wrote the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory but its better if you go to understand his lectures. His class is interesting to listen to. Its fun and easy.
Dr. Mays's class is one of the most comforting class I took at VCU. He is very clear in his explanation, expectations, exams, projects and and assignments. You get lots of knowelege from his class, aside from that he have that sense of humor that really makes the class very enjoyable :)
If you can pay attention to the class, do a few practice problems/tests you will do well in the class. He explains it so well and his CPS questions end up on tests sometimes. He is by far the definition of a great professor! He cares and loves working with students!
Dr. May's is just about the easiest prof I think I have had in college. He makes the material extremely easy to comprehend. If you attend class regularly then you will no doubt get an A! He also wrote his own book and seems to enjoy the material which makes this for an enjoyable class.
I love this guy. He has been the best professor I had so far. I did the practice problems like twice and still got over 93s on all my test. He's straight forward. If u don't understand somethin, ASK! He'll help he wrote the book!! Very down to earth and in touch with his students
Dr. Mays is awesome, he answers all questions asap (usually within the same day), is very good about reviewing what you have learned and adding humor to his class. I look forward to going to it, even early in the morning :)
Super AWESOME!!!! D'Arcy is the best thing that happened to me at 9am in VCU!!!! Super easy class and very helpful too.
Great professor! Mays is honestly the best stat 210 teacher. He wrote the textbook that all the stat 210 courses use so obviously he knows his stuff. Go to class because you earn participation points and clicker points. He explains everything so clearly and he at points during the lecture he'll ask if anyone has any questions. He's the BEST!
Best teacher I have EVER had. He made stat easy to learn, and knows what hes talking about. made a 9am class not too bad to have to attend.
Mays wrote the book that the whole department uses. If you can get into his class, take HIM. He also teaches the honors course. So VCU believes he is the best STAT teacher. They wouldn't have a bimbo teaching their precious honors kids. But Mays is awesome. Cool dude. Class was fun. I recommend him to everyone.
Easily the best teacher I've ever had at VCU. I hate math but he made it fun for me. Also a funny professor and genuine as well.
I had him for the honors section of this course. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mays. He is an excellent person and an excellent teacher. I appreciated his use of practical activities to supplement lectures. He is very fast with returning grades, very organized in his lectures, and very clear in communicating. everything you could want!
He is the best prof in VCU! Take him!!
A very caring and dedicated professor. I took the honors section of the course, and I found it very manageable. Stats can be dry, but he tries his best to keep the class entertained. His 7 tests are all straightforward, and the posted practice tests and very representative! The final project is a bit tedious but fair. Got an A!
One of the best teacher and a great person.
Wonderful professor! Hands down one of the best I've had. He tries his best to be entertaining and crack jokes here and there. Clicker questions every class so attendance is mandatory. Tests are pretty east if you pay attention in class. Definitely take Mays!
Professor Mays is awesome! His lectures are very understandable. Exams are straight forward and gives practice tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but it helps. He obviously loves teaching and wrote the supplement for the course. He's SO kind and very helpful. The honors project is a good amount of work, but it's nothing difficult at all.TAKE MAYS!!
D'Arcy Mays is dope. His tests are straightforward and you replace any grade lower than what you earned on the option final. Do not buy book other than supplemental. Pay attention and use your clicker, but don't be funny with it. Easy going guy, he rocks.
Dr. Mays is hands down the best professor I've ever had at VCU. He is able to explain difficult topics with ease which truly shows his intelligence. I no longer have classes with him, but I still email him with questions I may have with other classes and his brilliance makes him able to help me with outside assignments. He's a genuinely great man
Professor May's is a wonderful teacher! He is so clear and the exams are straight to the point. He even offers practice exams and is very opened to questions and comments. Clickers are so easy they're like freebie points and will be worth a test. Also, the final can replace any grade lower than it. If you go to class you will get an A for sure.
Very easy class. Professor is very funny. Online practice tests are just like his in-class tests.
He has to be one of the best professors at VCU. He teaches because he loves to teach. It's obvious that he cares about his student's success. Class is set up to make it virtually impossible to fail, but you have to earn it. Final replaces all lower test grades. Book is useful. Learned a lot in this class and I'm not the best at math.
Awesome teacher. The class is kind of difficult, but he makes it easy with the notes. He gives you practice tests before every exam and is very good about telling you what's on the test. He makes statistics interesting! Also, He has many tests so you can do well in his class....
This is a great teacher. I am HORRIBLE at math but him and his TA's had SOO many helpful sessions that it was almost impossible to fall behind. I loved him. He listens, understands, and you can tell that he loves teaching. I wish he could be my math teacher for the rest of my college life lol. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!
He is awesome! Definitely a professor that I would recommend. Very easy to understand! Tests are very similar to the online practice tests, so if you know those well, you'll do just fine! :)
Professor Mays is hands down the BEST professor for STAT. His lectures are clear. He is straight forward. He's willing to help you if you need it. Also, his TA's are awesome. Briana's sessions are ESSENTIAL. I loved him as a professor
Professor Mays is awesome. His practice test are just like the actual test. If you get those you will get an A! You do have to put effort into this course, but overall it is an easy course and Professor Mays makes it worth it!
I LOVE DR. MAYS!! He is the best professor ever! I was in his honors section and it was really easy! I was able to get a A no problem! The project is really nothing and he is an amazing person! He is really understanding and kind! I wish he could teach another class of mine cause he's great!
He makes one of the most boring subjects into a fun one
I would take this class just for fun. He is the definition of organization and per-preparation.
I got a C but I didn't really try. He is an amazing teacher. Helpful in all ways. And very funny. Clickers are awesome and his test are not bad if you pay attention in class. Unfortunately I though online pool was more important. But he truly is awesome and so are the is sessions. We did an all night is session for the final and went over everythin
I really liked how he realized that many of us were in this course as a Gen. Ed. and made it as easy on us as possible. He gives solid preparation before each exam and organizes his course very well. He also goes out of his way to build rapport with his class. Hell, I spent a majority of later lectures just looking at my phone and I would still pas
Just show up to class with your clicker and you'll pass. Easy lectures, explains well, overall great.
Excellent prof. and a great speaking presence. I had a 9am and instead of struggling to stay awake, he was extremely engaging and knows the material so well that he's able to make it understandable. He wrote the textbook. 1.) He intentionally made it EXTREMELY affordable. That and his power points I saved STILL help with upper level STAT classes.
He's very clear of material and how to pass the course. If you go to class and listen, you should be fine
Great professor. Don't skip class because he has multiple clicker questions each class that are worth 12% of your grade. Tests are relatively easily. You don't need the textbook, but helps to have it I guess. Attend & participate in class to get an Easy A
Great professor, highly recommend
The best professor I every had. He has a great sense of humor. Just do his practice tests before every test and you will be good. He gives clicker so come everyday to his class. There is no homework which is the best thing. If you come everyday and understand stats and do practice tests then there is no way you will get less than an A or a B.
Dr. Mays is by far one of the best professor I have ever had. He goes out of his way to answer any questions you have, especially right before a tests. His lectures are very easily understood, and are loaded with bonus questions for your clicker grade. His grading style is very clear, and fair in my opinion. And yes, his final is optional!
Mays was so funny and really tried to make sure you understood the material before continuing on. The exam is optional and there are 7 tests and a clicker grade. As long as you go to class for the clicker points and review the slides/do the practice tests you should be fine! His lectures are more entertaining than most teachers! It was an easy A.
I took AP stats in high school and almost failed, so when I heard I had to take stats I was terrified. But Mays is great and made stats so easy to understand. The clicker points are equivalent to a test grade so go to class and do the practice tests and you'll get at least a B easy!
I was somewhat nervous to take this class because I hadn't had statistics since I was a senior in high school, 3 years ago. But he really helps you out! I learned a lot from this class and I would definitely recommend taking him. My other friends were taking STAT 210 with other professors and I felt like I understand the material way better.
I love professor Mays!!!! He has one of the best teaching styles. Make sure you study for the tests and show up for class, and you'll be absolutely fine!
He is a good professor, this is coming from a person who SUCKS in any math based course. He makes everything really understandable. Come to class for clickers and do the practice test right before and you will get a decent grade. Buy the workbook if you need to most the material is on the PPT but it's nice to follow along with the examples in book.
Attendance isn't mandatory but your clicker grade is worth as much as a test. The final is optional and replaces all grades lower than it so as long as you study hard at the end you can get an A. All notes and practice tests are posted online but his lectures are not boring.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Mays if you have to take statistics. Lectures are very clear and gives practice tests that are just like the actual exam. He's very nice and seems to care about how his students are performing. You can pretty much get an A if you go to class, do the practice problems, and do the practice tests.
Overall, he's a good professor. If you pay attention in class then you should do well. Doing the practice test before the test is one of the best way to prepare for his test but make sure to look out for the little details. If you commit a minor mistake the question is automatically wrong so be careful.
Best teacher ever. He is so great at explaining everything in lecture and puts up practice exams so by the time you get to the test, you've already seen the types of questions.
He is very engaging & lectures are easy to follow. The textbook used is written by him so goes along with lectures and has lots of practice problems that are really helpful when studying for tests, so it's definitely worth buying. He uses interactive technology a lot which is refreshing but also means you have to show up. There's only 8 grades tho
He is a great teacher for a sometimes confusing subject. He explains things thoroughly but goes pretty fast through the material. He is always willing to help though if you need anything. Overall you should take him.
Dr. Mays is seriously the best math/statistics professor I've ever had. He explains things very clearly and answers students' questions thoroughly. He posts 3 practice tests online before each test which was extremely helpful and useful. His grading policy allows the final to replace EVERY grade lower than it so a good grade is very achievable.
Dr. Mays is an amazing professor. He's been teaching STAT210 for years and really knows his stuff. He posts all class lectures online along with practice tests with keys and keys to the exams after so you can see what you did wrong. Final is optional and replaces every grade lower than it, but doesn't do make up tests.
You show up, you pass. Such a simple course. Everything is explained in a way that makes it easy to follow, impossible not to pass!
Professor Mays is the G.O.A.T, if you dont take him for STAT 210 consider your college education wasted(just kidding). Awesome professor, eager to help, passionate about his teaching. Just come to class and do the PRACTICE tests and problems and youll be just fine!
I am in love with this class. It is an easy A and D'Arcy is a great teacher
Very respected and very straightforward with what you need to know for his exams. Practice tests are posted before every exam, and tests are your only grades. Tophat participation counts as a whole test itself so just show up for that. Final exam is optional and if you did well, it will replace any and every test score lower than it.
TAKE Dr. Mays!!! He's super easy. Go to class because Tophat is a big portion of your grade. Easy A. 110% recommend
Dr. Mays is great! All of his lectures are posted online and attendance is not required. He provides multiple practice tests for each of the tests in the class and the practice tests are very similar to the real tests. The tests are the only grades in the class other than a final project, but if you practice ahead of time you'll get an A!
Dr. Mays is a fantastic professor! He genuinely cares about all of his students and their learning. The class is based almost entirely off of tests, but if you pay attention and class and do the study guides they're easy. He also usually has your test grade back the same day. All his lectures are online, and he doesn't take attendance. Take him!
He wrote the textbook for the class and gives amazing lectures. Relatively easy class just do the practice tests before the actual tests
Every class is a lecture and takes up the full 50 minutes, there are practice tests on blackboard that you can do which are similar to the tests, if you do practice tests and understand them you should get 90's on most of the tests, calculators are important because if you don't have one you will work out the problems yourself
If you took AP statistics in high school, you're set. If you didn't take AP statistics, you're still set but you just have to pay attention a bit more. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should still go because he gives the answers to the TopHat clicker questions sometimes. Just pay attention in class and do the practice tests. Easy easy easy A.
Awesome teacher! Made statistics very simple to understand. Make sure you get the textbook and do the practice problems, he wrote the book so his test questions are very similar to the practice problems he suggests you do.
Dr. Mays has been my favorite teacher so far at VCU! He makes the class very understandable. He wrote the textbook he uses so the powerpoint and example questions are the exact same. If you show up and participate in the top hat questions you will get an easy A. Do the practice tests because they are JUST like the real test.
This class is fairly easy if you make an effort. This class does require practice outside of the classroom setting to ensure understanding of the material since its fast paced. However, he does post 3 practice tests before each exam and are almost identical to the actual test. The final exam is optional and only puts it in if it helps your grade.
Hes a great professor. His lectures are easy to follow and its all calculator work. He even post his past test which are very similar to the test that you take so as long as you pay attention during lecture and take the practice test youll get an A. Also save your money, You dont need the stat book.
BEST TEACHER EVER
Amazing lectures - funny and engaging! Tests are identical to three practice tests - do these and you will do great. Seven tests and final exam replaces all lower test grades. Attendance is optional. I went to lecture and it was helpful, but I know some students that only showed for test day and did very well. I never used my textbook.
Professor Mays was a very easy and his lectures were very understandable. He was very flexible and understanding. You do use tophat for questions based on the lecture but they're very easy. I loved this class and would definitely take it again. No homework. You only take 7 tests and an optional final depending on your end grade.
Mays was funny, respectable, and overall a great professor. He will stress out that you need to buy his textbook, but you honestly don't need them- his powerpoints in blackboard are literally based off the textbook word-for-word. He also provides three practice tests for each exam, and doing them actively will pretty much guarantee you an A.
he reviews material every time you get to class. he's very understanding. his class is mandatory because he actually gives you the tools you need for the test. there are 4 projects,7 tests, no homework, and 7 test practice 25 quizzes(5 questions). you don't need the textbook but only if you need the t chart
If you are taking stats, take this man. He loves his job and explains everything straightforward. You get a good handful of in class examples and problems that mirror what will be on the test which makes for an easy A if you participate.
Very charismatic and understanding teacher, makes Statistics very easy to understand.
There is no extra credit, no grades are dropped. Communicate with him and read the syllabus. The asynchronous online course had quizzes due almost every week. He was very understanding of differing circumstances and was willing to meet and discuss almost anything. If he does not have the answer he will point you in the direction of the resources.
I had asynch online stats, so I didn't get to know Mays personally, but I disliked how he wrote in the syllabus that the textbook is mandatory and then there were free videos on Canvas that literally went through the whole book. Quick but harsh grader. I only went to TA sessions, never his own, but to his credit he offered to set up Zoom calls.
Dr. Mays is super responsive to emails, even on weekends and evenings. His lectures are straightforward and the book is written by him and mirrors the lectures so if you ever need to review it's a perfect guide. No homework is given so your grade rests heavily upon the exams.
I took the online class but it switched to in-person mid semester. He still posted lectures but you had to take the tests in-person. If you watch the lectures, you'll do fine. He explains things well and the study guides for his tests are super helpful. He also provides extra help if you need it! He says to buy the textbook but I didn't use it once
