She had very easy assignments. she allways busy in her class. we learn the 4 by 5 view camera. she well out a students if they need helped. like setting up an enlarger. She an execllent teacher to take please take her.

shes dry and EXTREMELY repeditive, but very caring and sweet. her class was super easy... i wish i learned more. it was too basic, but i enjoyed it. 4 photo projects and 5 essays. she did a take home final. this class is only fun if youre interested.

She is a very nice person. The only thing is that I had more freedom in Photo 51 with Michael Quinn than I did in Photo 1 with her. Regardless, the assignments are interesting, and she's always pleased with your work. She does give you the benefit of the doubt on things though, just don't fool around in her class.

Good professor. Easy assignments and take home test. Highly recommend if you are really interested in photography and shooting black and white film.

one of the absolute nicest people you'll meet at el co. she's extremely helpful to ALL students, and she loves it when students think outside of the box. she's extremely organized so you always know what's coming up, and she also gives students PLENTY of time to work on assignments.

Im a photo major and i took 4 classes with her...in the beginning u maybe will hate her but once u get to know her she is very helpful and loving person. Because she has too many responsabilities she seems stressful and sometimes doesnt seem to have time, just be pacient

Rowan was a great teacher. I took this over the summer, so it was fast paced. The book was not really needed because she let us know everything during her lectures. We had a take home final which was easy to complete. She's passionate about photography, which helps.

Awfully friendly and enthused. Goes off on tangents sometimes but brings up intriguing if not relevant topic discussions. The most dedicated and passionate professor... to the point that students are often surprised/amused/or "wtf?" Majority of my class appear to appreciate/admire her. Some take more time warming up to her, it seems.

She's pretty damn cool... It suprised me. I was expecting a cookie cut class, it's the exact opposite. It's really brought out my talents that have been tucked away for like 5yrs. She explains how to work a camera with the shutter and aperture. I learned a lot about lighting in the class. This teacher spends her own time and money to organize exhibits of student photography in the college library every year. REcommend her class.

The teacher will teach you portrait lighting and lighting glassware. Good wet lab and Mac lab for the students. She loves photography and will try to help you with your printing.

Teaches portrait lighting which is very helpful. You will also learn how to use a view camera. Hard-working teacher. She spends a lot of time making opportunities for students with guest speakers, exhibits. You have to do the work and work hard, but you wil learn a lot. It is a good class.

This class will make you think a lot about Photography as an art. She is a motivating teacher and the assignments are fun. Professor Rowan is the head of the photography area and is pretty busy with other work. Budget cuts at this school. But she tries hard to help you. Stay focused on assignments and you will improve.

She enjoys teaching photography. Since the class was made up of two different classes (beginning studentsintermediate students) there is a long wait time, so take a book to read to pass the time.

She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Attendance isn't something to worry about, just as long as you get your projects in on time. She gives generous extensions and loves holding optional after-class discussions on photography and life in general. A real good lady.

Lectures are light but teaches important topics, tendency of redundancy, she cares a great deal for students. If you take her advanced photography class students may lack being engaged, some lectures were combined w/film, no book or test. No critiques of work which students can learn from sadly. Interactivity between students is interesting.

Professor Rowan is a wonderful teacher. Inspiring, but fair grader. Take notes and get your assignments turned in by her deadlines. She will repeat things, but just because there is a wide range of students in this class. I would take this class again in a heartbeat. Very good class. Learned a lot.

Pros: Come to class pass, syllabus lays out all the dates & project so there are no surprises. Easy A. Introduces new ideas and topics of photography, super passionate. Cons: Class in the summer is EVERYDAY & she goes all the way for 2 hours, DONT expect to leave early. Learn to enjoy watching the videos (really interesting)! Not hard, fun!

I bought the book, but it's not mandatory. Prof. Rowan is a very kind & passionate about Photography and the work is straight forward. I am not a photo or film major, but I seem to look at life through a different lens. She basically wants students to view the World with a different perspective. I hope to take future photo/film classes. :)

Class covers art aspects of Photography. I am not a photography major but enjoy learning about how photography is an art. She is very fair as a teacher. Inspiring.

My best advice is to understand that she really loves what she does. I honestly believe she has evolved her eye / brain matrix from the basic "look at the pretty colors" of life, into something vastly more organic and transcendental. DO YOURSELF A GIGANTIC SERVICE!!! take one of her classes, you'll never see life the same boring way again.

Prof. Rowan is really great! Tells you exactly what to do for assignments. You mostly watch videos during lectures, but they're very interesting and help you to appreciate photography. Be kind and respect her as you would with any other teacher!! I'm taking with her again in spring--she's that good!

Sweet professor that is really passionate about photography. Lots of videos but no tests and you didn't have to take notes. A couple of easy assignments and that about sums it up. A little boring, but at least it's easy to get the credit to transfer!

Professor Rowan is highly intelligent and a gifted teacher. TAKE HER CLASS! You will see photography differently by the end of the semester.

Professor Rowan enjoys lecturing photography, she's very passionate. You will not need the textbooks. You can earn easy points per project by simply completing the work. Make sure you answer ALL the questions of the prompt. Most of the time you'll watch movies and documentaries. Ill highly recommend you to take her class. Either Art150 or Photo150.

This class is awesome for summer/winter! The only assignment we received were essays and they were simple. She does give extra credit and attendance isnt necessary but you do have to contact her beforehand. We only have one quiz but all the info is on her blog. All we really did was watch videos which was interesting and fun. I highly recommend!!!

I'm a photo major and Professor Rowan's classes are why! I highly recommend her classes! She has a respectable attitude, she's really encouraging, and as long as you fulfill the requirements of the assignments, you will pass easily. She grades fairly even if your work isn't her personal taste. She's experienced and knowledgeable in the photo field.

Professor Rowan was an amazing professor. She truly cares about her students and their grades. 5 projects total for her class: 3 essay papers, 1 photographic project, and 1 take-home quiz. She offers a few extra credits. In class all you do is watch videos, pretty boring but it's totally worth the A.

Rowan is such a kind and intelligent professor! I took her over the summer during the evening and she was so understanding that we often got out of class half an hour early! There were five total assignments, and an extra credit assignment (super easy). Her website has all the answers to the quizzes and such. Take her, you won't regret it!

Overall, a really easy class. We didn't have extreme amounts of homework, and the rubrics were pretty easy and straightforward. The lectures and presentations get a little long, but overall the class was really relaxed and the professor was caring.

Not difficult. 5 big assignments for the course thats literally it, no discussions, just 5 assignments that consist of you defining terms/looking at a picture & correlating it with the terms. Follow her instructions on how to complete assignments, google search if you have to. Do the work & youll pass. Trust me.

Took professor Rowan in the fall 2020, while covid-19 was around. Professor Rowan is a real gem! Do yourself a favor and take her class. Easy class. There are a total of 5 assignments( yes only 5 for the whole semester). Professor Rowan also gives out extra credit assignments that are super easy to complete(4 extra credits assignments).

Since I'm planning to take basic photography; It's going to be so hard because I dearly miss Professor Rowan a lot.
