You have to go to class because the clicker questions are worth 20% of your grade. He drops the lowest 5. Easy tests IF you study. Usually about 25 questions but covers a lot of material.
Speith is very knowledgable on the material, but the lectures are long and hard to pay attention to. Go to class, because clicker questions are a considerable amount of your grade. I wouldn't say his tests are exactly hard, but the amount of material on one test is rather large, especially for 25 questions... You have to study.
He knows the material really well, if you are confused he can answer clearly. He does have a bit of an accent but that doesn't interfere with understanding his lectures. He uses the whole time and gives clicker quizzes at the end for attendance. There are only three tests and they are easy, he gives bonus.
Speith's class is soon incredibly boring. You don't really have to go everyday, but go sometimes for clicker questions. I just watched Netflix the entire semester. The exams are tough though.
Insanely long lectures and super hard to pay attention. He is very enthusiastic about art though, which is good. You'll fail the tests if you don't study.
get ready to read. a lot
You'd think for an art history class the tests would be on the history of the art cause he talks about it in class. The tests are pictures of the art which he puts up on power point. 25 questions, you have to name either the artist, medium used, place the art is held, or title of the piece. HAVE to study. He really enjoys teaching though.
clicker questions at the end of class u can easily google the questions tho he drops the lowest 5. the powerpoints are on moodle. everything you need to know is on there. 2 papers and 4 tests. 25 question tests. final exam is noncumulative. u gotta memorize at least 40 different works for each test but only 25 of them will be on the actual test
As long as you show up for clicker questions and find/ make a quizlet for the exams it's fine.
You have to go to class just for the clicker questions. You don't have to pay attention at all. The tests are literally memorizing images and their titles, years, periods, artists, and medium size. It'll take a lot of memorization but it's well worth it for the easy A.
I didnt go to this class 25% of the time, and usually only showed up for the last five minutes to do clicker questions. Just make quizlets with the essential works and read over the powerpoints. Start studying a week before the exams and you should do great. I had an A+ the whole semester. Just make sure to memorize everything.
I learned a lot in his class and thought his teaching was clear. Unfortunately he is the teacher who made me feel the most uncomfortable. While grading papers he encouraged use of "varied words" and I went a bit far on $2 words. In class he made a joke about this, and his essay comments were insulting. Might avoid if uve dealt w emotional trauma
This class is not hard, but it can be boring. The only grades you have are clicker questions at the end of each lecture, one paper, and 3 tests. The tests are not too hard if you study and he is not a hard grader. The professor can be a tad bland in his lecture, but overall the class is not bad. All of his tests come straight from his power points.
Class is easy if you're willing to memorize 200+ notecards to prepare for the 25 question tests that if you miss 2 on you already have a B. Besides that, professor is nice and there is enough people in the class where you'll never be called on. Clicker is necessary and he will sometimes do "tests" to see if you're actually there, so be careful!
he lectures a lot but you don't really need to listen, when it comes to the test make sure you know all the pictures and the underlined information. i would take this class with a friend if you can. he also give clicker questions that count towards your grade so you have to go to class and you get 5 absence. it was easy
So easy. I got a 100 on every test. This class is all about memorization. Its frustrating the way he runs class and sets up grading but its so effortless just drag through it. Easiest A Ive gotten at LSU
easy A. defiantly recommend taking this class online.
Easy class. You have the option to watch his lectures or read the textbook provided. I recommend reading the textbook because it will have the information you will need to pass his quizzes and exams with an A. He will provide a study guide for his exams, please reference! You will have one paper to do which is a visual analysis, easy grade.
Spieth is so passionate, his passion rubs off on you. I'm not sure about how mandatory class is in a regular year, it was asynchronous during covid. I read the textbook prior to the weekly quizzes. Make sure you take time on your research paper.
okay spieth's my dude. tests are so easy. quizzes are hard for some reason?? you have one paper and it's super easy. honestly just watch the lectures? or even?? maybe just look at the special works or whatever it's called. most things are on google if not do a reverse image search. literally download reverse image seearch and socrattic thank you
-COVID SEMESTER- Did not watch a single lecture or read any of the course content. Bi-weekly quizzes, 3 exams (final is not cumulative), visual analysis paper (2-pages). Take this course with a few friends and you'll be solid.
Professor Speith will remind you to take the test multiple times and is overall very interesting.
Professor Speith is an amazing professor! His class was easy, effortless, and I learned a lot. He is passionate about art and if I had to take another art class, I would take one of his!
Took this class online after he took out the papers and participation. Only graded on quizzes and tests, which weren't as easy as you think an intro art history class would be. Had to put more effort into this class than my bio and chem classes. Do yourself a favor and take music appreciation if you need a general arts credit.
Literally the easiest class I've taken this semester. Attendance isn't mandatory and I didn't read the book or watch the lectures. Most answers you can just google search but all the answers are on the moodle. Easy A.
Mainly test. No homework or extra credit.
Dr. Spieth is really nice and is a fairly lenient grader for tests and papers BUT the mid term and final are EXTREMELY information heavy. Like 200+ artworks to study but have to identify 8, two compare and contrast so 4, then essay you have to name four more artworks. I really liked him but was the hardest class I've taken just bc of the exams
This class was fully asynchronous so I never had to go in class. His Moodle clearly outlines what he expects and quizzes and exams are very easy.
As a student in this class, you'll be expected to write museum chats, which are short essays, an argumentative essay, and a research paper, all >1000 words. For the research paper, library research is necessary. Speith is a pedantic grader, so I recommend always asking for advice before submitting work, or else you will receive harsh feedback.
Easy A. Entire grade is made up of tests and quizzes which are very easy.
Speith seems like a sweet guy. His class is very easy if you read the online book. Don't count on SoCrative to give you correct answers.
Easy A. His quiz and tests were easy to understand and his lectures were good. He also reminds students a lot about due dates.
SO EASY. There are only multiple choice quizzes and tests and no homeworks. Most of the quiz questions can be found online. Also hint: Take pictures of all the Essential Works before taking a quiz/test. The only thing you have to try on is the paper. The paper is really easy though.
Dr. Speith is a very good prof to have, his material is easy and he's very personable. He always makes his classes fun, and I would definitely recommend him and this class to anyone interested!
Easiest A ever! This class is all online, so you don't have "class". No homework- only graded by module quizzes and exams, but all answers can be googled. There was one paper, but the prompt was interesting and super easy if you actually tried. I would definitely recommend this class for an easy art credit, especially for freshmen.
Literally the easiest class I've taken. Took him last fall and loved it. Quizzes and tests were easy if you just read a little bit. Don't even have to watch the lectures. I'm a super lazy student and always did these assignments last minute. If you need an easy A, this is the best one.
All tests and quizzes. Really easy A if you just go over the slides once.
Taken online. Easy exams and textbook/ reading requirement was online. Easy art credit. Has one bonus opportunity and sends out reminder emails for where you should be and when tests are. Saved my ass one time by emailing that an exam was about to be closed but I got it in time thanks to the email. Would take again.
He is very kind and lectures are optional. Everything is online and super easy. He sends out 10 reminders before a quiz or exam is due. I definitely would recommend taking this course.
Very easy, 5 quizzes ad 5 tests, can be taken online.
All online test and quizzes, easy A class if you do what your supposed to!!
Wish I knew how the class was so I could've dropped it in the beginning. You can tell he's extremely passionate but by doing so I feel like he expects us to know just as much. He is a really tough grader on the research paper and there's a lot of writing.I did not like this class. Definitely choose another honors class unless you love art history.
I took his online art class, it was so easy but his lecture videos are painful to watch.
Easiest class, all the answers are on Quizlet. I forgot I was even in the class at times. He sends many reminders when assignments are due even though the only assignments are quizzes and tests. Super easy A
I highly recommend taking Art History 1001 with Professor Spieth. Though some of the online videos are lengthy, you will have the opportunity to learn art from an entirely different perspective. Professor Spieth is a kind, attentive professor who demonstrates his passion for the arts, making it much more enjoyable than any other art class.
Class is only 4 exams and 7 quizzes. Super easy to do even without attending class or watching online lectures. Honestly, the content is super interesting if you actually want to learn about art history, but it's also super easy if not.
Very nice guy and his classes aren't all too difficult. Clearly outlines what he wants in projects such as papers and exams aren't too difficult as well.
Professor Spieth's class is an easy credit if that's what you're looking for. The tests and quizzes come exactly from the notes.
The class was a breeze and all of Professor Speiths quizzes were super easy! He curves all of the tests and all of them you can complete the day it's due.
Amazing professor and really is passionate about what he teaches! He makes sure that he reminds you numerous times about upcoming assignments. Take him for 1001!
Super easy class. Everything is online. Highly recommend.
I took this class online and it was fairly easy. Lectures are EXTREMELY LONG but he does encourage you to actually go to his in-person class if you can. There is a quiz that goes with each chapter and 3 exams.
Easiest class at LSU and true GPA booster. If you miss an assignment then you must really be out of it since he will literally blow up your email with multiple reminders before a quiz or exam is due on moodle. I never went to this class once and studied quizlet for the quizzes and exams and got a 100 on almost everything.
There were a lot of essays and presentations. Although there were a lot of papers there were no quizzes or test. The essays were graded quite easily and there is a chance to improve your essay scores. He enjoys discussion and is very understanding. He is also easy going.
Most people know this as the easiest class to take at LSU, and while that is probably true you do need to stay on top of quizzes and tests to keep a good grade. The quizzes are easy but be careful on the exams. Darius is very good at emailing to remind about quizzes and tests! do recommend.
Very easy class, took it 100% online. Class is graded by 7 quizzes and 3 exams. He makes sure to email you multiple times before the quiz and exam due dates so just pay attention to those and it's an easy A.
The easiest class I have ever taken at LSU. Great GPA booster. Sends out multiple emails so you will never miss a quiz or exam.
Take this class for easy A
Easy A all online take a few quizzes and tests with all the answers easily accessible.
Super easy online art class. Very straightforward and easy A. Everything is online and all quizzes and exams are unproctored.
the man. the myth. the legend. DARIUS SPEITH. everything is online. you just have to take a quiz every month. all the answers are already online, so do yourself a favor and take this class for that easy A
this is the worst professor i've ever had in my life. he's called me intellectually incompetent to my face multiple times over a rough draft. does not care about his students and needs to be humbled. he fell asleep during my presentation and still gave me a B on it when he didn't even pay attention to it
Darius Speith is my king. He is very passionate about his work and even wrote the textbook (free on moodle) himself. I took the ART 1001 web-based class and it is genuinely the easiest thing I've ever taken. Do not drop this class if you get web-based it's literally an effortless GPA booster.
AmazIng!! take for anything
Open notes on all quizzes and exams, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! You will pass and learn interesting things and you literally can't fail and the professor is very kind.
Darius Speiths art history class is super easy as well as interesting. Did not require too much time and was easy to complete assignments.
Literally so easy. You can attend in person lectures or do the course completely online. Quizzes and tests are done on your own time at home.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I missed one of my exams and he let me re-do it even though it was past due!!!
I did him all online, I don't know how he is in class. But easy, Quizlets work nicely when practicing for the test. Me and my partner got a good laugh at his emails
The entire class is online or you could attend in person lectures. The quizez are open for a week and you can take from anywhere. Would take for an easy credit!
Easiest Class you will ever take. It's 100% online, no zoom meetings or anything required for you to join. There are 7 10 question quizzes (one per week) and 3 exams (25 questions each). Easy A without having to learn a single thing.
He is so sweet and you can tell how passionate he is about teaching art which makes the class even better
All I will say is everything and I mean EVERYTHING is on quizlet. Even when it comes to tests and quizzes! just keep that in mind!
very passionate about his job and art! he had a very straightforward course and established deadlines and reminders for students.
I would take this class every semester if I could. The lectures are optional and everything you need is in Moodle. If you submit the assignments on time this class is the easiest A you'll have while at LSU.
This class is extremely easy as long you have it online. The modules are easy to remember and the test are extremely easy as well. Lectures were boring but were not mandatory. This class is Definitely for raising GPA.
Love this class. Almost everything on Quizlet. PowerPoints for all of the artworks on tests in the modules. I literally don't understand how one can make less than an a in this class. Take if you want the gpa boost. No other art credit will be easier.
The easiest class you will take in college. Quiz and Tests are the only grades and it's super easy. Sends email reminders throughout the week so you will never miss deadlines
Overall great class and great professor. Only tests and quizzes will make up your grade but they aren't hard! Highly recommend taking this course.
Submit the assignments on time and you'll be fine. Probably the easiest class to get your art credit or boost GPA. He sends many reminders so it's almost impossible to miss a deadline if you check your email
Easiest class ever. Just submit the assignments on time and you will pass. Quizzes and tests are open note.
i went to two lectures, but the only assignments are online quizzes. u can get through the slides and take notes quite quickly, but if u are interested in art history, he goes into much more detail in person than the slides have.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Daddy Darius Speith, you make the world go around. Elite class, forever, my goat. Player comp is prime Tavon Austin. He will be talked about in the GOAT discussions by the time it is done.
Darius Speith, the man that you are...When math and science professors hated me, you didn't...you are the best thing that has ever happened to Louisiana State University. I will tell my kids about your legacy at this institution. God bless you, Mr. Darius Speith.
I would 100% take Mr. Speith again. He is an absolutely amazing teacher. I gave birth this semester and he was extremely accommodating to ensure that I had everything that I needed to succeed. 10/10 class.
DARIUS IS AMAZING 300/10 TAKE THIS CLASS SO EASY!!!
I do not understand how this man does not have a 5/5 on here. This is the easiest class I have ever taken in my life. EVERYTHING IS ONLINE AND ON MOODLE soooooooo you know....
Just a great teacher! All of his work is online, and you can take his quiz whenever before the due date. All of his work is open notes, and attendance isn't mandatory at all. Overall, an easy and great teacher to have.
Hella Ferda
Easy class great professor. No problems. I highly recommend!!
Super easy class. You should get an A/A+ if you maximize your resources. However, if you actually try to learn, the material is also really interesting. Provides same information in video and written formats. Frequently send test reminders. All tests & quizzes are online. No EC or curves. Pretty much at your own pace. What an Art Gen Ed should be.
Easy class and you can find all the answers online. Easy Arts credit. Just do each quiz every week and you'll be fine.
The class is extremely simple; he provides numerous reminders, and if you complete the quizzes each week, you'll succeed. Make sure not to miss an exam deadline, but he's amazing, so he'll probably give you an extension if you ask. Overall, a wonderful and easy class.
Love darius, Theres little to no work you need to do, all online and no in person or himes exams. If you do your quizzes and submit them on time you should get a perfect score or near perfect, he also sends out tons of reminders when due dates come up so its really hard to miss them.
BEST CLASS EVER. He is so sweet and understanding. Online everything, super easy. His lectures are actually interesting, so if you have time attend!!! TAKE THIS CLASS.
easiest class i've ever taken in my life. did everything in 2 days and never had to worry about it again until midterms which are the same just only a week to do it. if you fail this class, you're the problem. take if you need your art credit!
Literally easiest A
Attendance did not matter but I did go into his class just to listen and he was very interesting. I did have to drop the class because I missed an exam window and he does NOT care why you missed, and my grade dropped significantly but that was on me because he did send 100000 emails
He's so sweet, I wish more people went to class but he posts everything online so there's no need to.
Awesome course. Very easy if you do exams on schedule.
great class/teacher. would take again and recommend!!!
easiest class ever. 100% recommend
REALLY EASY. all test and quizzes are online but timed. No proctor or anything though. He sends out MULTIPLE reminders and gives alot of time to turn everything in so juts stay on top of it and your good. Really easy class.
Awesome and super chill
Super easy class. His lectures show you that he really cares about what he's teaching. Only way to fail is to not do the tests.
Super easy class 10/10 recommend taking him
Awesome super easy class 10/10 recommend!!!
easiest class ever! If you have to take an art credit take him!!!!!
Absolutely great class and well knowledgeable professor. Lots of information through the course and only grades are tests but the content is enjoyable and there are multiple different ways you can approach the course work in this class.
So easy. Just do all the quizzes and exams and you're fine. No homework. Completely online.
Free A if you stay on top of deadlines.
such an easy class. literally just submit quizzes and exams on time and you will pass.
such an easy class. literally just submit quizzes and exams on time and you will pass.
BEST PROFESSOR!! Everyone loves him; he's basically famous at LSU. Just please, I beg of you, do the tests and quizzes on time, and you will do great.
AMAZING! Quizzes and exams are super easy. Definitely recommend for anybody!
The GOAT of LSU
The EASIEST course at LSU. Only need to make sure you submit everything on time.
The easiest A you can ever get in your life.
if you fail, lowkey sit back and think about if college is for you
Easily one of the most doable classes at LSU. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are just lazy. He has quizzes due every two weeks and 3 exams that are all easy as long as you know what to look for either in the textbook, online, etc. As long as you keep up with the work (which is not a lot), you should get an A+ in this class.
Genuinely the easier class ever. All answers can be found on quizlet/online. Just make sure you turn everything in by the deadlines (which he will send MULTIPLE reminder emails for) and you will make an A. 10/10 live laugh love darius.
Professor Speith is hilarious. This class was an easy A and very easy to follow directions without going to class. Each assignment is given plenty of time to work on and he even sends multiple emails as reminders so you don't forget. Definitely recommend.
TAKE HIM. By far the easiest class to take at LSU. Will send multiple multiple reminders for students who have forgotten to take the quizzes or exams. Easy A+
easy A+. just do the quizzes that are due every other week and there are 3 exams. only way to do bad in this class is by not doing the assignments since answers can easily be found through google. you don't even have to watch the lectures. he sends lots of emails to make sure you don't forget about assignments.
10/10. Easiest course on campus taught by the greatest man on campus. Just don't miss any quizes or exams, each quiz is about 8%.
