I really liked this class. He's so interesting and insightful. Study those handouts!
Great teacher. Very interesting and makes class fun. Highly recommended for this class.A+

Dr. Haghighat is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He is very inspired and motivated. He makes the boring subjects very interesting. his lectures are very clear, understandable, and effective. Be there, read the handouts, and you'll be fine!
His class is really fun and intersting. he answers all the questions and he loves challenges which make the time go fast.study his handouts!
took the online class, it was great. read and write essays, if you are coherent in your writing you will do well.
I like that he doesnt let anyone who cant critically analyze get away with dumb comments. Smart people will totally enjoy his class but people raised in the Inland Empire should definitely take him. He's very attractive in a non-western way too.
He is a serious professor who knows his stuff. He has a strong accent but it's not hindering. He assigned two book reviews, two tests, and a final.
He is a great professor who offers an alternative perspective from what you hear every day on the news. If there is one professor that can get you interested in politics, it is Dr. Haghighat.
He is the BIGGEST JERK. He is rude, mean, and unhelpful. His instructions are pages long and must be all memorized. If you ask questions he embarasses you. If HE makes a mistake in HIS post though, he deletes the post. NEVER TAKE HIM! Beware the groove!
He will make you think differently about the world around you. Not everything is what it seems. College courses are to make you think and challenge your mind and thoughts. This class definitely will. You don't want to skip lectures. Strong accent true
Hagen-Daz is not a very fair professor. First of all he thinks he knows everything, so debating him is a lost cause. Stalin would consider him too conservative. When you disagree with him, instead of taking the time to properly annunciate his points he
Haghighat would consider Stalin and Saddam Hussein way too conservative. He is insulting and if you disagree with him he berates you. Haghighat is a perfect professor for those who are brainless drones.
This guy is so rude, unfair, nasty to students! I've never seen one worse. I even agree with some of his politics, but he should be fired for his abusiveness. Many student complaints about this one.
He is biased and unhelpful. I am an A student without trying. In his online class, I worked my butt off and received a D. He sucks.
The most interesting professor ever. You must take his class.
If there is one professor who will make you interested in political science is this professor. He will make you work hard but you will enjoy every second of it. I had no interest in political science before taking Dr. Haghighat's class but now I am sure I will major in political science. Thanks Dr.H
A big fat jerk, biased, unsupportive, ****, democrat, michael Moore Loving hippy. Doesnt ever really review your posts just guesses and randomizes his grades. I would say one of the worst teachers on campus. (all 3) A wonderfully awful teacher.
Found his class to be unproductive at best. The man views himself as GOD; only his ideas are right. Any sort of intelligent topic comes up it quickly onesided <HIS>. His English is so horroric it is better to sleep in the class and read the book than to stress understanding him.
His class is extremely easy, I missed like the first month of the class and still got an A. Domineering is the best word to describe him. Its either his view or you are a moron. Plus he usually has a group of loyalist students who make it extremely hard to have an open debate without being attacked

Sorry excuse for a "teacher." Class is not comprehensive. You read Michael Moore's book & then write essays about how you love what Moore has to say. If you don't agree w/this teacher (or at least pretend you do), then you will be attacked & receive a poor grade. Very biased. Colossal waste of time, money, & brain power.
It is hard for me to understand why he "teaches" US Politics, when he hates America so much. Instead of learning about politics, we were flat out TOLD that capitalism is the ultimate evil, and Bush is the Devil Himself. Does not allow anyone to think otherwise. Your grade is solely dependent on how well you defend HIS ideas. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
It seems to me that more people are interested in criticizing this mans political beliefs rather than his actual teaching ability. It is true that his views may not be what many that live a conservative riverside area may agree to but it is the exposure to different ideas other than your own which is the valuable asset you get from this class.
Not only hard to understand, if he disagrees with what you say he will cut you off, very rude. I was dropped for walking outside, while he was out. Find someone else because its an interesting topic, but I doubt being "taught" by him will do any
we had disagreements due to me being a sociologist and him a political scientist....the accent made it hard for me to understand him.....really good teacher though
worst teacher ive ever had. gave me an F when i didnt deserve it, and keeps forgeting to change it. terrible teacher. someone should take back his teaching credentials!
There was no comparing present in this comparitive politics class. I was sickened by the unilateralism present in the materials covered and in the lectures.
If you follow directions very concisely you will ace any class he teaches... JUST FOLLOW DIRECTIONS PEOPLE ITS NOT HARD! And support your responses
he is very demanding and kinda difficult, but if you follow his notes and read for the class you should do fine. a word of caution- dont be late for his class, he WONT let you come in
Interesting class. Never fall a sleep in class cause there's always an interesting topic. Make sure you read all handouts and attend class and you'll get an A
Hard to understand. ALOT of reading and book reports. dont come late to class because you will not get in
True, Dariush has political beliefs that quite a few people don't agree with.....yet he enforces "Think not believe".... That is the point of Political Science, to research ALL points of view and analyze them, not to start believing whatever the instructor teaches.
Opinionated instructor who really opens your eyes to the reality of our political system here in this country. Not at all difficult to understand. Expects adult behavior and respect from his students. Some people here were very critical of him, most likely
If you dont agree with his views, he grades you down!!!

Very interesting class! He opens your eyes to what's really going on. Come to class ON TIME, read the material, do the work and you will do FINE. Ask to meet with him during his office hours if you still need help. Great professor!
REALLY HARD. I managed to squeeze out an A still, but he made me work for it. Expect to spend about a day on each assignment if you want a good grade. (I took it online over the summer) He seems fair, though, and his class encourages debate. Seriously, if you can get an A with this guy, you can get one anywhere.
Dr. Haghighat is a wonderful professor. Probably one of the best and most influential I've ever had. He demands alot but is better for the studnet in the long run. He brings the material to life. Make sure you attend class and read the handouts for the midterm and final.
He is a stickler for following directions, he can't stand people who refuse to think before they talk, I think he is okay....BUT FOLLOW DIRESTIONS OR HE WILL HAVE YOUR ASS FOR BREAKFAST
He is very strict, will not let you in if you come late. Read the handouts, a lot of the exam material comes from them. He makes you open your eyes about what is going on in our political system. The best thing you learn from his class is to not believe everything in TV and newspapers about our political system, but to think for yourself.
Wonderful teacher. very effective. he opens your eyes about foreign affairs and really allows you to think for yourself.
is a great teacher, really gets the students thinking and involved and was not on a strict schedu;e so was very flexible and great. He taught me to see the world in many different aspects
An amazing teacher who really knows his stuff. opened up my eyes to issues i once had no idea about. i would really reccomend him. be prepared to work hard
He was one of the worst professors I have ever had. He grades you down if you don't have the same views as he does. I don't think he even reads all the assignments because he just responds to a few students with the same response to everyone. I would NOT recommend this professor, he is horrible! If you can take another professor, do it!
The worst ever. He should not still be getting paid to "teach." He does not teach. He cares about quanitity, not quality. Write 15 pages of meaningless crap, get an A. Write 5 pages of substance, get reprimanded. He doesn't read what you write. His English leaves much to be desired. He's caught up in his dictatorship pedestal. AVOID THE HAG
He is by far the best professor I have ever had in college. He is tough but very helpfull. You have to work very hard in his class but you will learn a lot. He is not like any professor you have ever seen. His classes are not about liberal or consevative or Democrat or Republican partisam politics and he truly challenges you. You will love his clas

You have to take his class to truly appreciate what education is all about. He is a superb lecturer. He is highly intellegent. He will make you to think for yourself. I hated political science and now because of him I am majoring in political science. He has tough standards with a cool attitude and very hot look. Take his class. You will love it.
I would hate to meet this guy in the classroom because he seemed like a horrible person online. He's very rude and doesn't care what he says to you. If you don't do great on your papers, he posts a comment for everyone to see what's wrong with your paper. It's all negative not what you can do to do better and it's nobody's business how you did
If you are mediocre, you will do well with this professor, since he will not feel threatened by you.
Dr. Haghighat's class is a great class for Political Science. He encourages discussion and is helpful when needed. Having no political interest, I still enjoyed his class.
I only went to the first class and I ran out half way through... He requires you to write two 10 page papers and you don't want to take his class in the winter... He's rude and arrogant... He teaches the class as if PolSci is your major.. horrible teacher
I recommend anyone to take him for online NOT for lecture. There's no exams but only 1 stipulation. If you don't write English 1A quality work, this call is not made for you. However, you write good essays, you are guaranteed to earn at least a B in his online class. Follow his prompt and you will do fine.
Very passionate instructor. However, WAY too biased. Does not allow for the student to disagree with his views too much. Gets off topic way too much. His class is an eye-opener to the way world politics is played. I would recommend him, but only for one semester. More than that is too much.
Very hard for those who have not had prior English/Writing experiences. He can be a bit too difficult for the course, though it is mainly a class for beginners (In my opinion). Don't take him for your first semester.
Dr. Haghighat's online class was very interesting. I highly recommend that your writing skills are in top form because he expects scholarly essays at a college level. He does not question bais unless it's a "because that's what I think" stance. He wants reasoned thought and explaination, not childish opinion. Opinion with factual backup is fine

This is a class in which you think outside of the box. Only take this class if your serious because it involves plenty of reading which I found extremely interesting. Thanks to this professor I am more connect with what is really going on in the world. Also, I have stopped watching FOX (fake news) to watch Democracy Now (Real news).
He is terrib;e! Not flexible at all, and he is not helpful.
Sure sure, he's a staunch Liberal, but he's right in so many ways that it is so hard to disagree with him. Extremely educated, amazing information database, but yeah, he's a bit hard to understand because he's from Iran. I enjoyed World Politics with him because he really inspired me to think outside the box.

This professor is sneaky soyou must be careful if you decide to take his online course. You will think you are in a cetain percent and that you will get the grade you deserve but at the last minute he will pull up some loop hole in his grading system and he will rob you of your grade. It is in my opinion not to take this insructor.
AWFUL professor, had no clue what he wanted 9 out of 10 times. No one did well, not students...teacher! Had to drop class after computer crash and one late assignment.
By far the most interesting professor I have had in college. If you have to take one course in college, you better take this professor’s class. He is very challenging and he persuades you to think for yourself. He just wants you to learn to think for yourself. I have decided to major in political science thanks to this professor. He is firm & fair
If you really want to learn something valuable in college, you must take his classes. He is fun, highly educated and demands excellence from his students. He does not push his ideas on you. He demands and helps you to think for yourself. You will learn to think outside the box in his classes. Do not gamble with your education and take his classes.
Dr. Haghighat is by far the most dedicated, passionate and intelligent professor I have encountered in college. I have never seen any professor to care that much for the well being of his students. He is a true educator and demands excellence from his students. He wants nothing more than his students to become independent thinkers. Loved his class
FANTASTIC professor, Great lecturer, superb teacher and a wonderful human being. I did not care for Political Science before taking Dr. Haghighat’s class, but after one semester in his class, I decided to major in Political Science. If you really want to learn something valuable in college, you must take Dr. Haghighat’s courses. LOVED HIS CLASS.
This class had a lot of reading, and there were 6 lessons. He drops your lowest grade and each lesson consists of a 2 1/2 pg. single spaced paper covering his questions and topics and then 2 short post responding to 2 other long posts. Class has a lot of work, but very interesting.
Online class Spring 2008. Very profession and no room for chit chat. Interesting class and a lot of works. Confirmed 2.5 page essay every two weeks. He lay down the instruction in bunny styles, you can't fail if you follow the guides. Read three testbooks and summarize in your own words. Just do everything from your English 1B and the "A" is yours.
I would not recommend this professor at all if you expect to express any kind of opinion of your own.
You had better not be absent unless it is your funeral.
I am glad I took this class because I learned a lot and gained an interest in politics though it. BUT he has you only reading one sided liberal books and teaches his point of view not political points of view. Write what he wants to hear not what you think.
I took his American Politics class online and it was a great class! learning is completely dependant on the materials and there are no tests and no final. all grades are from the papers submitted and there's an option to either have your lowest grade dropped or to skip a essay. Overall he was a good online teacher and it was a very informative clas
Turn back while you can!!! If you are interested in Political Science ad a major then have at it, if not then I suggest you DO NO TAKE this class! He is very serious, only has his own view points. Very serious guy, not much understanding and he grades extremly hard. I am a great student but I really wish I would have taken a different class.
Do Not TAke This Class! This is the worst class I have ever taken, the teacher is nuts and a very hard grader, when I say hard I mean extremly hard. Like the person below said, Turn Back While You can!
Overall, I would advise heavily not to take this class. Basically you will write a 2/ half pg paper, single space, font size 9.5 every week. For these papers he grades extremely hard . Also he does not communicate well with his students. Also, he takes forever to give you feed back about your paper and what needs improvement living no time for you
Extremely wise and filled with knowledge. He cares about his students and the humanity of the world. You should take this class. A lot of books to read, but they are extremely important about our government.
I am taking his class online, not hard, you just have to do the work. You write 6 papers throughout the semester that are 2 1/2 pages single spaced. I was not at all interested in Political Science but I find it interesting the questions asked. No tests or finals, just papers...read, quote and thats it. I advise knowledge of English 1A.
Online. Not too interesting but not too hard either. Just reading books and writing db responses. You have to write a lot for each assignment, but there's only 6. His instructions are clear and all-encompassing but you must pay attention to all instructions. Quick to respond to emails and gives personal+class feedback for some assignments.
Online class was hard but interesting and rewarding.
He is hard but he usually answers your questions IF you ask them in enough time for him to do so. DO NOT WAIT on starting your essays DO THEM when you get the assigment. I got all A's on my essays bu i DID NOT SLACK OFF. He is a tough grader and you can tell he is one sided not exactly for the right wing. Right as though your a conservative and you
Dr. Haghighat is awesome. Everything he has experienced makes him what he is. He is passionate about teaching. When people feel that political science teachers are left winged, stop going to a Liberal Arts School. Is anyone here going higher in their education than an AA?
This is not an easy class,at first it may seem kinda dull, but if you stop txting and happen to listen-he's actually interesting. txtbook reading is on test. read his handouts. they help. it is fairly obvious he leans to the left.
If you want to become an independent thinker and learn something valuable in college, you must take Dr. Haghighat?s class. You run into professors like him once in a blue moon so do not miss the privilege of attending his classes. He is tough but very clear and fair. He challenges the established values in a very constructive and logical manner.
I WARN ALL STUDENTS: DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! HE IS ONE OF THE WORST TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD! HE IS DOWNRIGHT RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS. HE IS TOO PICKY AND ANNOYING! IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE HIM ANYWAY: YOU ARE FOREWARNED!!!!
An outstanding professor! Dr. Haghighat opened my eyes to what is really going on in the world. His classes are very challenging but extremely rewarding. What you will take from his classes will prepare you for the real challenges in university and life. He demands excellence from his students and he delivers excellence. Do not miss his classes.
If you are serious about your education and want to learn something valuable do not miss Professor Haghighat?s classes. He is one of the most dedicated, professional, courteous and passionate professor you can ever encounter in higher education. Those who cannot live up to his high standards and cannot broaden their horizon won?t like his classes.
Online winter class. Way too much work for such a short period of time. Do not take any other classes if you plan to take POL 1 online. Every Monday by 11 pm you essay in MLA is due, 2 1/2 pages min, single spaced, font size 10. Must read all assigned chapters, additional books and websites. Do not voice your opinion unless you are leftist.
ANY GOOD REVIEWS YOU SEE ABOUT THIS PROFESSOR WERE MOST LIKELY WRITTEN BY HIMSELF. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM.
NEVER take class with this professor.I watched students being trashed is they disagreed. Almost impossible to get an A if you disagree with him.
I am a former student of Dr. Haghighat. Thanks to him, like many of his former students I am now in an Ivy League college. I can honestly confess that I wish my current IVLC had more professors like him. I will be always indebted to his outstanding challenging teaching techniques & high standards. Do not miss the opportunity to take his classes.
great professor. i enjoyed the assigned books. he chooses books that are very interesting to read. he is fair, clear, intelligent, and awsome professor. i was able to get an A becaus i studied and i followed his directions.
hard you will get a poor grade if you do not agree with his thinking
This is the worst class I have ever taken, He wants lengthy papers which he doesn't seem to read. I consider myself to be an above average writer and so far I have an F in this class. I am gonna have to drop wish I had of seen my grade before I spent the last 6 hours writing my post. This has been informative but a huge waste of my time.
This is a very interesting class. It really opens your eyes to the way the world works. Not too hard, but you have to do the work. If you can write coherent papers of a modest length and have an open mind, I recommend this class. If you have no attention span and a closed mind this class may not be the class for you...
Dr. Haghighat has opened my eyes to a wealth of knowledge I didn't know I didn't know. Yes, the material tends to lean towards the left, but doesn't mean that you can't voice your own scholarly opinion. The format of the papers is arranged so that you show you have done the reading and understood the information and allows for your own opinion too.
He warns you before you take the class if you depend a lot on the teacher not to take him he doesn?t give you feedback on your papers but as long as you make them the length he requires and you show you read the material he will give you a good grade. Just do the work EXACTLY how he expects you to and you will pass the class!
I have taken online courses before, and taking his pol-1 class online was a HUGE mistake. If you do take this class online, be prepared for a lot of reading, writing, and researching. If you know politics, I'm sure you'll do fine, but if not, don't even bother.
One of the best classes I have ever taken. Dr. Hagighat's teaching style made all the difference in the world. He is tough and very demanding. But that is what you should expect from a professor who really cares for his students. He pushes critical thinking & helps students to analzye complex political issues from an educated persons point of view
He doesn't always show up for class he isn't always in his office, but he is a good teacher he pushes critical thinking and really does want his students to do well. He can be hard to understand at first and comes across arrogant but bare with him and you will find yourself looking forward to class discussions
Not a helpful teacher at all. I'm taking him online right now and he will NOT even respond to e-mails. Consider another instructor if you're planning to take POL-1. At least choose an instructor who is easy to talk to.
The guy is really arrogant and not helpful at all. I am sure he is very intelligent but he uses it in a way that really makes him look like a jerk. Does not reply to emails very well.
I took this teacher twice and both times he decided to give me a "D". I asked him why my grade was so low and he would never answer my emails. I did all of my work in this class and yet he still managed to ignore my emails and give me a low grade.
I took his online class. He expects a lot but if you do the papers how he asks you will do well. There were no tests or quizzes. There is a ton of reading from 3 books and 6 LONG papers to write and you have to read all other students papers and comment on some of them publicly. I got an A but not an easy class.
I took the online course for the Winter'10 terms. Only six papers (two & 1/2 pgs, single spaced, 10pt) required plus online postings. The papers are answers to questions from weekly reading. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COURSE TO ALL COLLEGE STUDENTS. It is invaluable information that all citizens should be informed about.
I will preface this by saying that I got a B in the class. Teacher is extremely liberal, although claims he's independent. Class material (handouts, required reading) are so far to the left it's not even funny. Teacher received all 30 ten page research papers on last day of class, and some how posted grades the same day.
I took him online.. I did get a B but I worked for my grade. You have to submit an essay for about 6 Lessons that are 2 1/2 pages, single spaced, 10 pt font. But don't be discouraged.. because you can use plenty of quotes from the book.. BUY THE TWO BOOKS! Whether you agree with him or not.. pretend you do? but id take him and get it over with!
Took his online class twice. Failed both times. I would complete the assignment, and receive a very low grade. When I email him asking why, he does not reply. I can't describe him accurately because we can't cuss on here. Don't take his class.
Loved him! Very knowledgeable, relates concepts to current events, and makes you earn your grade, but it is worth it. Willing to teach if you are willing to learn. He is not hard he just expects you to make an effort. So the comments stating that he is hard are probably from lazy students. Take him, it will open your eyes!
My recommendation: do not take his online class if you haven't at least taken ENG-1A. It is a lot of reading and writing. You'll have to analyze the texts and put your critical thinking skills to good use. The class is not tough but it really is up to you as to whether or not you will pass.
Took his online PolySci class, you need the book to do the assignments. Every 2 weeks a two page paper, not very difficult! Not much interaction with him, but a very educational class
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. HE NEVER ANSWERS QUESTIONS. SIZE 10 SINGLE SPACED PAPERS AND IT IS ALL BUSY WORK. VERY REPETITIVE PROMPTS.
***WARNING*** If you are working full-time and going to school part-time, or you are "WORKING", do not take this class. This class requires a lot of reading and research, and you will at least spend 3 hrs/day to finish the research and reading to write the paper, receive a satisfactory grade. Very non-responsive, posts grades till the end of class.
If you're lazy, don't take the class. Its not an easy pass. Must read and write everything he asks. Took it winter session, 1-2 papers a week. 2 1/2 pages min, single space, size 10 font. Very biased readings. Bashes Republicans and George Bush the whole class. He likes when you write against the readings with support.
Loved him!! he is very knowledgeable! You have to work hard to earn the grade!
By far the worst teacher I have had in my college career. He never responds to questions and takes FOREVER to grade everything. When he gives you feedback on your papers, everyone in the class is able to read everything he writes to each student. Extremely unprofessional. DO NOT TAKE! I know I never will again.
Dr. Haghighat expects you to put in the time, effort, & work. I would definitely not recommend this as an easy course; it is challenging + demanding especially short term. I left the class with a whole new level of work ethic. I would recommend him only if you're willing to take it VERY seriously. He is tough but it's rewarding at the end.
THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!! we did an an essay in September and here it is December and he still hasn't graded them! I went to his office and asked for my essay and grade in the class and he got mad that I asked my for grade! He's unorganized, doesn't lecture, and can't speak English! I warn you, please don't take him for your grades sake!
Professor Haghighat is a unique and brilliant political professor in the small community college of Riverside. He shows great enthusiasm for his work in both teaching and researching political science. His lecture style is direct and straightforward and lend themselves to the majority of his tests. Pay attention, and read the books, you'll do fine.
I took the World Poltics course. Participate in class as often as you can, follow his critical book review outline ( 2 papers 10 pages each ). Attend class, & take good notes. Several books for this course & exams are multiple choice but tricky. I barely passed exams but the other work helped a lot so I got a B.
Only 8 essays, drops lowest. 2.5 pages min. and single-spaced. Not too bad; I've had worse. However, the assignments start feeling repetitive and are the only things he grades off of. If you're not a strong writer, I would discourage you from taking this class. Otherwise, it's fairly easy, imo. Just tedious if you have no interest in it like I did.
Took this class in the summer, he assigned a very unpractical 2 page 10 pt font single spaced essay every week. In MLA format, this would equal about 5 or 6 pages, along with responses to other students. He gives off a very pompous vibe, and has a false sense of intelligence. He will reply to your messages only if he feels like it.
He assigns essays where he expects us to share opinions and if your opinion disagrees with his you can't get a good grade. Completely biased and doesn't care about the students. Wouldn't take again.
I took the winter online POL 1 session and it proved to be very difficult. There were 6 essays, but the lowest grade gets dropped. The essays are very tedious, but get easier as you go; the first one is hard to write. They are 10 font single spaced, 2 1/2 pages (7-8 pages in MLA format). You NEED the textbooks to pass and he grades harshly.
He arrived late every single lecture, fawns over his model un members constantly and has personal conversations with them during class. Class is always let out late bc he spends time on irrelevant personal conversations instead of teaching. Extremely arrogant and literally spent 20 minutes talking about how "important" and "loved" he is
okay teacher, very passionate about the subject, has 2 easy multiple choice midterm. likes participation but sometimes went on tangents. overall, he tried to be motivating but it was lecture heavy. not too much work, easy-ish A. respected opinions of others which was cool
Took this class during winter. Professor gives a bunch of busy work, but it is manageable. Assigns 6 essay that must be 2 1/2 pages single space with 10 font, but drops the lowest score. If you are not willing to put in a lot of time and not a strong writer, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
A Gen Ed course (online), yet good for my major. Hard work is good & I enjoy a challenge - yet he did nothing to encourage students, simply demanded. Reviews of my specific work was lengthy, condescending, and biased unlike others reviews. Students unable to make contact, critical for an online course. Hindsight: take from another Instructor.
Amazing professor! Very fair and respects all opinions in the classroom. He opens up your mind and forces you to think in many ways. Make sure you participate and just put in the effort! He pushed us but in a beneficial way. Class was mainly lecture but I appreciated it! Learned a lot and would take him again!
in my opinion this is one the best professors in rcc. his class was real easy and straight forward. do everything he tells you to do and you'll pass. overall vewry easy class
Do not take this class if you're looking for an easy A, even online. He's a good professor if you want a challenge in American Politics. He's very knowledgeable about the subject and respectable. But don't expect him to take you by the hand and sugar coat things. He's an unfair grader, and doesn't give you positive reinforcement. Avoid him.
I took the ONLINE class Fall2017. It is literally the hardest class i have taken. With that being said i passed and learned a lot! There is a lot of reading and lots of papers to write. Just remember to not be biased when writing. Until it comes time for your opinion.
I would not take this class in the Winter session again. (1 of 3 classes!) Minimum 2.5 SINGLE SPACED essay due each week. Professor was thorough, intelligent and I learned about the US government. I feel like he got mad at us for not knowing what we didn't know. That being said, if we did the work in an unbiased manner, we got good grades.
He's a rather good professor. The work seemed a bit redundant since he did not collect the majority of the papers due on the syllabus. He has very passionate opinions but that very passion can lead him to go off topic and talk on a tangent for an hour. He's very busy so expect him to miss a few classes and show up late on occasion. Funny guy too.
When Haghighat says Am I communicating with you and he really isnt communicating with you take the chance and say no, youre not communicating with me. He did not collect the assigned papers and did not return them nor give us a grade. His class lacked structure and organization.
Overall, an ok professor. I put that in parentheses for the following reasons : he doesnt communicate with me (yet he always ask am I communicating with you, he always patronizes his Model UN students in front of the whole class and makes it seem as if if your not one of his Model UN students than your unworthy.
Continued ....... (from the ok professor). He is very arrogant and loves to brag. If your in this class be ready to hear about his i8 BMW and how a cop pulled him over because it was that nice.... lol. Hes very condescending and slams you for unnecessary things that concern the assignment.
Does not give feedback right away when this is only a 6 week long course. I feel I should have feedback before the next deadline for the next essay so I know what I need to fix before turning in the next assignment. Doesn't give clear instructions and makes you write essay that have to be 2.5 pages single spaced so basically a 5 page essay.
This professor requires many essays. The reading is fair, although may be difficult when taken during an accelerated semester. Overall I learned a lot, despite not needing it for me major. If youre looking for a challenge, take him. You will learn, but it will be labor intensive.
Very good professor for being an online class. Clear on grading criteria and gives good feedback. I think he's a great professor and people don't give him the credit he deserves. Very passionate for his job and helping students.
He makes you work for your grade and assigns tons of essays. If you actually read the chapters answer the questions and explain your reasoning then you'll be fine. He doesn't grade hard because I have left a portion of my assignments incomplete and it didn't affect my grade as much. He's knowledgeable & helpful & responds back in class discussions.
Dr. Haghighat believes in you. Sometimes he shows up to class late but that's just because he is constantly doing so many things on campus . If you ever reach out to him, he will respond. He wants to give you the resources to succeed. All you need to do is the readings and follow the guidelines. That's all you gotta do.
I took his online class, and all you have to do is 8 papers (10 font single space) . NO discussions. He gives you 3 weeks for each paper besides the last 2. Just read the chapters and write. If you love to procrastinate this is not the class for you. He does not grade hard unless he can tell you did not read the chapter.
This class is very tough. Professor Haghighat will expect you to work for your grade which is to be expected. However, his responses to questions or emails of any kind are extremely condescending. He comes off as rude and unapproachable. I learned a lot from the reading material but not from any help from the Professor.
Dont expect help from this person. He will not help you at all and wont answer any of your questions. Don't bother emailing him because he is rude and refuses to clarify anything. He should really find another line of work.
2 1/2 pages. Single spaced. 10 font. Will print before he thinks of grading. One of those every week of the course. He is honestly asking for WAY too much for just a political science class.
This class was really chill, you do write an essay almost every other week, but if you dont wait till the last minute and you will do fine. Gives really good feedback, so take it and you will continue to do better on your essays.
I recently took him for summer during the whole Coronavirus. Honestly hes not a bad of teacher its jus his assignments take an ungodly amount of time to complete if you want to be successful. He is really fair with his grading and gives feedback. The only issue is he doesnt give the feedback in enough time for u to change for the next assignmen
Its all about the reading you do for your assignments every 2 weeks in 10 pt font. You have to use articles and websites he has attached to the assignment which some dont work and takes long to reply. If you have the patience and time management, this class is for you!
I was dreading this class so bad but it ended up being one of my favorites at RCC. Took him during the Fall 2020 semester, all online. I learned SO much and I wish I could take it again. The readings weren't too bad. It was a few chapters, then a really long essay, usually due every 2 weeks. No other assignments.
I took this class during covid winter semester and it's a pretty easy class if you're good at writing and to be quite honest I didn't even really read the book, I just skimmed it for quotes that benefited what I was writing. If you're passionate when you're writing about these topics it goes by fast, each essay took me about 2 hours to write.
2 and a half pages, single spaces, 10 point font?? He expects too much for just an American Politics class. He even prints out the assignments before even thinking of grading them that's crazy. I would recommend you stay away from taking him if you don't want to go crazy over just homework.
Dr. H is pretty unreachable outside of the optional 3 classes. He's a tough grader and he does give feedback to the whole class for the first two assignments (but very little on your own paper). If you want an A, you really have to work hard for it. I learned a lot, but I didn't enjoy the class at all.
Teacher was absent and rarely responded to emails. Also he doesn't seem to know how to use Canvas as nothing was set up right and he didn't have modules set up for each week. Our entire class was clueless as to why he was being so absent or why this class sucked so much.
Read a lot then write a lot more and you will pass. Follow his format and use his sources. You want a better chance of passing? Agree with the sources he provides you and trash on the other side. You'll find out where he politically stands very soon.
He does not reply to anyone's email for the first two months. It is really hard to reach out to him if you have any questions about the assignment, either you will get a late response or no response at all. I would recommend taking any other professor but him.
This professor doesnt respond to emails, even regarding necessary assignments and speaks in a rude tone in his email announcements. Gives no consideration to students schedules/workload. I have never dropped a class before and I always get As and Bs. Do yourself a favor and take this class with literally any other professor if its online.
This professor is highly condescending when he does acknowledge us. Extremely M.I.A. He has ignored the class for most of the semester (Fall 2021) and has been impossible to contact. Planned a zoom call, didn't show. Never responded to emails from students even when they sent multiple emails. Chastises us for lack of participation. Dropping this!
He was very absent and would not respond to emails, missed his own lectures, and would schedule mandatory meetings the night before. His assignments had nothing to do with the course and the directions were two sentences at most. super tough grader
Dr. Haghighat has to be simultaneously difficult and easy at the same time. Easy because most of the assignments are spaced out pretty well and they all follow a similar structure (Summarize + give your opinion). He's difficult because he doesn't respond to any emails at all. If you're fine without any guidance, this professor is a maybe for you
Teacher will not read your questions or emails. Does not use CANVAS for anything, instead he uses 80$ REVEL platform. Very rude in announcements and will be disrespectful. course itself should’ve been clear and easy, he makes it incredibly confusing. Good luck if you take this class
I took a PS course with Dariush in early 90s and he shares my "Best Professor I Ever Had" award, with my Biology (& first "Stand Up Comedy" experience) professor, Cecil Johnson! Dariush told us early on, to arrive on time or doors would be locked! That kind of discipline helped me do well those years. Wish I had met more like him...
Requires heavy reading to write long posts and short posts. The professor does not check his emails.
This professor wasn't bad, but the work was tedious. He gives you 4 long essays (2 1/2 page essays), 4 short responses (writing 2 comments on 2 students' posts), and 8 chapter quizzes. He extended the chapter quizzes by a couple of weeks and to the end of the semester. He is also late on grading assignments. He only entered 2 essay grades atm.
Fairly easy grader as long as you follow his requirements. Midterm based on the lectures in class, attendance is mandatory. I will say the book he instructed us to read didn't align with some lectures taught but nonetheless interesting. Don't rely on syllabus.
I did enjoy the class and learning from him as a person. As a teacher, he has too much on his plate, which affects his teaching. A very kind person, but unreliable for punctuality, grading assignments on time, or inputting participation grades until the very end (which will affect your grade a lot, it's about 25% of the total).
The man himself is lovely, he seems to care about the topic he is teaching. But the man assigns tons of work, with very strict and highly specific rules, and removed tons of points for the littlest of things. Then complains to the students about how he has too much grading. I've been in class for 3 months and haven't received a single score back.
He's not understanding when it comes to technical difficulties or personal situations that students might have which can get in the way of academic studies or assignments sometimes. He is the type of professor that if i were in the hospital, he would still be like "well there's a due date and you have to follow the syllabus"
Taught an online class but doesn't respond to student emails. Unable to be reached for days at a time for questions or comments.
Dont take unless necessary. Doesn't follow syllabus, assigns surprise essays, cancels class last minute but makes it your problem, doesn't know how technology works & doesn't check emails. assigned long book for $60 only for 10 questions on test. Messed up final grades so everyone spam emailed for correction. interesting person but awful professor
didnt even make a syllabus, doesnt respond to emails, arrogant but overall is a pretty interesting guy, however, is not a great professor. easy class if you can use the sources that he gives to you. 3 papers in total with no other classwork. a good amount of reading. totally absent the entire class except when he wants to ridicule the entire class.
There are a lot of test for each chapter and he assigns 2 essays in total. They have to correspond with what he says in syllabus or credit will not be given. There is a lot of reading but if you read the book it should be easy to pass the quizzes.
Most incompetent man to ever walk this earth. Had a ? regarding textbook edition. He said he won't answer anything he's already said in the syllabus. I showed him the syllabus is a list of assignments, he didn't care. He said it's his job to prepare students for the real world. Huh? I'd rather lick a stranger's foot before taking this prof.
gives feedback on essays, helpful, really big on plagiarism, and the reading is heavy.
He obviously has an ego and is useless. just started his class and he is at the top of my most hated teachers. He sent a message out to everyone because students were strggling to access the material that I just found unprofessional. Phrases like, Let me say it one more time..., I am really baffled by some students, I have made it crystal clear.
He is a good teacher. He definitely a bit out of touch to technology so he like things a specific way, which is the way he knows how to access things lol. Watch his video lectures to for essays and if u read u will pass easily. He does like to talk mess if u have a simple question and will follow it with "this is why I'm glad I will be retired."
Professor Haghighat can be a challenge, but unstuckstudy helped me stay on top of things. Attend class, read the textbook, and you'll learn a lot despite his disorganization.
He has a very heavy accent which is kinda hard to understand at times. He has you buy a "mandatory" book but never used it. Sometimes he has you do work on paper and turn it in that same day and wont post it on canvas till weeks later so don't miss a class. 70% of your grade is a website course which is pretty easy.
