Amazing Prof! Easy to understand, goes slow (but not too slow), lots of examples and is always willing to help. Extremely approachable and friendly. Would recommend taking her classes!! Did really well in this course, without the help of Grant's Tutoring!

Wow, she actually teaches you the concepts without expecting you to just "get it". She is incredible, and very clear, and also willing to help. HIGHLY recommended.

She really knows how to teach and help students to learn math. When I was taking Calculus 1500, I didn't know wat to do but ended up with an A+. Of course, you have go through her class notes and do the previous year exam, you should be alright.

She is young and shows enough examples during class which is very helpful to understand course material. Her notes are hand written slide so you might miss the listening the lecture because you are busy of writing which is not helpful especially for math course. You go to class to listen not to copy prof's notes. right? But, the exam was fare.

I don't know what class these other people were in, almost every lecture was directly from Trim's book, almost word for word. The same examples, with the same steps. Rarely was any additional information provided. Yes, she may have been helpful outside the lecture section, but one shouldn't have to go to office hours to be taught, not read to.

Always there when needed.

She has a clear way of teaching and explains very well. Labs are helpful to go to as well, and tests are fairly easy as long as you study prior.

Good prof, moved pretty quick through the material but was the only prof out of 3 sections to cover all the material. Follows the text very closely. There's better profs, but there's also much worse. Overall I recommend.

Really hot and young. Pretty good math prof. She goes a bit fast (just due to her having her slides prepared before hand) so taking notes and following her can be a challenge. But most of her slides are from the textbook so you don't really need to cover word for word. She does a lot of reviews before exams which are useful. Recommended.

Darja's the best prof ever! Very clear, doesn't expect you to get it the firt time, no accent (as her name would suggest), exam was great. Also, she's hot hot hot. The fact that she's such a good teacher and intelligent adds even more to her hotness!!! ;)

Professor Kalajdzievska is HANDS-DOWN my favorite prof! She's absolutely incredible, and she really cares about her students. Umm, you don't really have to worry about falling behind in lectures because she posts all her slides online(just templates, so you still have to attend lectures) prior to the beginning of each chapter. I <3 math again!!

Darja is an excellent teacher. She's extremely organized, speaks clearly, and is very helpful. You fail if you skip math lectures, so don`t blame that on her!! She is also so sexy. I have never seen such a smart, attractive woman before. I got an A+ in her MATH 1700, but if I failed I would go right back to her class :)

She is a really kind teacher and ver...y beautiful, I think. I like her teaching style. She posed all her notes on her website and never waste even one minute on the class but always stay longer than any other students after class to help us solving problems if anyone of us has.

To be honest if I didn't have Darja for this course I probably would have failed and my life would have gone along with it. And wow, she's so magnetic and attractive and so smart, she's too good to be true! I found it kind of hard to concentrate because she so hot but nevertheless!

Professor Darja is a very good instructor indeed. However, many of her notes that should have been in the notes, were not there. So there are sometimes gaps of 1-3 pages in notes, without which it's hard to relate things together. She is not willing to stay extra time afternoon to help out. At noon she goes home even though during midterm period.

when i took math 1500 (calculus) with her i thought she was really good. However not so good in teaching 1300. Buy grants if you're planning to take 1300 with her.

The best prof I've ever had. She is very helpful in her office hours, and will walk you through problems if you struggle. She will not make you feel stupid for asking questions. Very nice, considerate and highly recommended.

Very clear and very helpful. She knows that we're not all geniuses and she really has the ability to explain abstract concepts in ways that anyone can understand. If you're taking calculus try your hardest to get into her class.

As far as math profs go, I am fairly certain she is as good as it gets. Attend classes to get hints for exams and tutorial quizzes. Otherwise I didnt buy the textbook and used Grants tutoring for all of my practice problems. I would say that is the way to go, since Grant provides complete answers to EVERY problem in the book. Very easy on the eyes:

Well, what can I say.. I HATE MATH! That being said, I love her classes and I actually look forward to going to them. For anyone who disses her, they are just being a prat because she is young and pretty. Our class had the higher average because she gave more and better examples and understanding. Always willing to give extra help. Easy to understand. Write down the class examples and study your notes,class examples and old exams to do well.

TAKE HER FOR MATH 1500. She will explain the ideas and concepts well. However you have to do your work in this class. Exam tended to be harder then what you learned in class.

Dr. K is an incredible teacher; very clear and effective at communicating with students who might not be so keen on learning basic math (or advanced math). She's a hard but fair marker. Her lectures keep your attention, and she's more interested in you learning and you passing than you getting perfect marks. Oh, and she's a goddess. A+

THE. BEST.PROF. If you're taking intro to Calc, and ESPECIALLY if your coming out of high school, take it with her. Notes and tutorial videos are always posted for you and they're crystal clear. She explains everything in full detail and very strongly wants to see her students do well. PS, if you need help, she works around your schedule!

My favourite prof of university so far. Clear explanations, makes everything seem simple. Answers any questions well, encourages class participation, tells funny stories. Approachable. Friendly. Awesome. Class average on our midterm was 80%, while the other calc classes had an average of 61%.

The notes were easy to follow and to understand. During class there were a variety of examples and each example was done step by step. At times the topics in class seemed rushed but she encourages students to go to her office for help. (very helpful) Overall one very amazing professor! If you take math1500 I recommend this professor!!!

the best tool you can use in this course is the booklet full of old midterms/finals especially when prepping for the final. Darja is extremely helpful and does not mind sitting down with students when she is free to help them through specific problems that you may be having.

Darja was a GREAT prof. Take Math1500 with her if at all possible! She taught the material for calculus great with tons of examples in class that matched up with the work we did in our labs, and she provided online tutorials for extra help. Definitely buy the practice exams booklet and do the text questions before the labs so you aren't lost

BEST PROF EVER! She is so easy to understand and listen to, she is very clear and very nice. She is very helpful during office hours and there is no reason why you should do poorly if you attend class. I found her notes helpful enough that I didn't use the textbook once, the exam booklet is a must buy though. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

If you are someone who is terrible in math and are questioning taking this course I highly recommend that you do because the way Darja explains the concepts and reaches out to you cause she actually wants you to pass the course will definitely get you a passing grade! Darja is an awesome prof, I really enjoyed her math in art course this summer! Prof that taught the art portion was pretty terrible.. However Darja made up for it in the math portion! Would highly recommend taking any math courses with her, she facilitates understanding difficult mathematical concepts for those of us who aren't math heads

Awesome math teacher. I'm not really a math guy, more of a science type of guy but tbh I was scared going into Calc thinking I was going to get a terrible grade. But honestly after lots of practice and exposure to different types of questions I would say the course was pretty easy to understand with this profe. I would recommend studying for labs.

Dr. Darja is the best prof you will ever have! She is extremely clear in her notes, she speaks clearly and explains material thoroughly. She is very helpful outside of class and answers emails almost immediately! Practicing questions is also important but you will not need to read the text for explanations.

Absolutely incredible. I never got higher than a 70% in math all throughout high school until her class, I got an A. She's an incredible teacher, easy to talk to. Her class is well tought. She is incredibly clear and thorough in her teaching, and she makes you feel comfortable.

If u don't think u have a strong academic foundation of Math, don't expect that u will have an easy time in her class. She goes through her lecture materials very fast and skip some steps while explaining a question because she expects u to have learnt the basic stuff as she thinks in high school. She is patient in answering question one on one tho

I absolutely hate math and I've always been terrible and afraid of it. The way Darja explains the material makes it SO easy to understand and makes it less intimidating. She answers emails almost immediately and is willing to answer any questions you have. Go to class, do the homework, and practice and you'll do great. She's an amazing prof.

She is one of the BEST Professors in this entire school. Her Lectures are so strong and she explains it so well that you essentially can get out of her lecture already knowing the material that she covers! She adds humour to her lectures which keeps students' attention and she is able to give example FROM REAL LIFE scenarios easily! TAKE HER!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. Going into that class I was a bit nervous since I hadn't achieved well in pre-cal 40S (mid-70s). I came out of 1520 with an A+ thanks to her amazing teaching abilities! She has a website for her students (google Darja homepage) with amazing resources! She has her own Khan-like videos for each subject.

In my high school days I got a decent grade in math with a lot of help. This year I suprisingly did well with no help! I give credit to Darja. She is an amazing prof. Her lectures are great. Darja is a fantastic professor. She is always willing to help and answers your emails regularly. The course is relatively easy with two big tests and two art projects. If you like art and struggle in math I would recommend this course. She knows the material and makes lectures fun. A very fun course and caring professor.

I started out with a different prof & was doing not so good.. then when I got switched over to Darja I started doing so much better! She really explains things well and does very good talk through examples. She's also super stylish and friendly so thats always a plus!

I always struggled with math but ever since I got into Track B with her, she made it so easy! An excellent prof that I wish I could have for all of my math classes! Great lectures. Moves through the material fairly quickly, but then takes time to review everything before each test. I am not fond of math, but this course has been my favourite out of my four courses this term because of this prof. She teaches/explains the notes thoroughly in a way that is easy to understand; and she will even tell you what exactly from the notes is to be expected on the test. Overall just an easygoing prof who genuinely wants you to succeed!

Easily one of the best if not the best professor at U of M. She should get paid more! It is obvious that she enjoys teaching and pushes her students to strive for nothing less than success in this course. Also, if you happen to have any questions on a problem youre stuck on, she always replies to her emails right away.

I've always been fascinated by Math, but Darja has managed to make me like it even more. Darja is everything you could want in a professor: intelligent, funny, extremely beautiful, and genuinely caring. Her explanations are clear, plus she replies to emails very quickly. Darja also gives you the chance to participate, which is lots of fun!

Very helpful lectures, especially if you print out and take the notes she provides online. Clear and understandable explinations of each concept. Our class consistantly got 10% higher average mark on each test compared to the average of all the calc1500 classes. Would highly recommend.

As others have said, our section average was always higher than the other sections, so that says something about her teaching ability. Would highly recommend.

I took this class because it was required for my major and was dreading taking it so much because I'm not very good at math. Darja is the best prof I've ever had... she is why I did not fail this course and actually did way better than I thought. Would 100% recommend to any one needing to take this class.

AMAZING! take math 1500 with her 100% she's incredible. this course has a reputation for being very difficult but she literally makes it easy. her personality and humour keep you engaged and focused during long lectures, but you'll still need to practice a lot since concepts move quickly. i love math and really hope ill take another class with her

Calculus is not an easy course. However, Darja helped me so much!!

Darja is probably one of the best profs I have ever had. Math 1500 is a lot of work and often can be difficult but if you take it with her she makes the class ten times easier. Make sure you buy Grants tutoring book and do the questions on there because the questions in the book was similar to the questions on the tests.

She made math much easier and enjoyable. I had switched profs half way through and she taught the concepts much more thoroughly. She is a fair grader and grades more on comprehension than correct answers. Highly recommend if you need your math credit done.

Explains concepts extremely well. Lots of examples in class, building on concepts as she goes. Cares about her students and answers all questions with detail.

My favourite professor at the U of M. She is so considerate of her students and wants them all to do well. She pushes you hard to do your best, telling you exactly what you need to know. Clear lectures and examples in class so definitely go. Dont hesitate to email her questions or go after class. Super kind and friendly. 100% would take again.

I have hated math with a passion my whole life but as soon as I took math with Darja I actually came to love it. The way she teaches is incredible and she does things at such a good pace to ACTUALLY learn and I feel like I am never left to teach myself any content. Darja is fantastic. I hated Math1500, but her personality made it so much more bearable. She is always available on e-mail and gives good responses. She tends to cover easier topics during her lectures than the actual class work, however, so make sure you study.

Darja is a great professor. She has a great sense of humour, is caring, and marks tests very fairly while giving good and encouraging feedback. She makes MATH 1500 much easier to understand as she provides many examples and explanations. If you have the opportunity to be in her class, it is a no-brainer to take it.

Her explanations are easy to understand. She encourages you to ask her for help if needed. She's so passionate about teaching and it really helps make the class much more fun. I chose her because of her RMP reviews, and i can 10000% say, all the positive reviews about her are TRUE. I'd literally take any class taught by her in the future!

Professor Barr is a great teacher to have, especially for your intro courses. She's incredibly friendly, funny, and works hard to have her students feel cared for and heard -- I was surprised at how well the course treated us compared to others. She does tend to go over easier questions, so doing additional practice is recommended!

Prof Darja is the best calculus teacher I'll ever have. She is a true queen and everybody loves her. She makes topics easy to understand but you still need to put lots of effort into this class. I did not study much and only got C+ but definitely take Calculus 1 with Darja!

I didn't realize how good Darja was until I took calculus (calculus 2) with a different prof. I cannot recommend her enough. She makes the lectures SUPER engaging and she teaches you everything you need to know for the tests. Make sure you practice textbook questions! It's super important. Overall, it doesn't get any better than Darja.

Darja is very accessible outside of class and has the best interest of her students in mind. Previously took this course with another prof and I cannot tell you how much easier it was with Darja. I can't recommend Professor Barr enough. I hate math, and she was able to explain it in a way that got through to my not math savy brain. She is such an amazing prof and person. She teaches calc very clearly and is pretty funny when it comes to lecture jokes. You can't really get by without going to class as she doesn't post her notes, just the skeleton slides, but I'd highly reccomend not skipping as she is such a funny prof and great lecturer.

i missed the entire course due to health reasons, i wasn't even in darja's section but she posted some videos(5 to 15 minutes each) on umlearn and watching those videos just a few days before the exam helped me get an A+

Really cares about the success of her students and does many step-by-step practice problems in class. Lectures are very helpful and engaging. Alongside doing a great job of teaching the course she keeps it fun. Makes the course seem easy.

I'm the worst at math but Im surprised by how little calculation we had to do even in the exams. She made the concepts simple and easy to understand, Im surprised I got an A. Attendance isn't mandatory but you must attend lectures because most of her notes aren't posted online and it's easy to fail if you don't follow the steps with her.

didn't do great in this class bc i just needed a math credit and didn't put effort into it but darja's a rly amazing teacher. the only thing i didn't like abt the class is if you miss a class you're screwed for that lesson. she only has videos for the first few questions of a subject and the work doesn't make sense if its not explained.
