Excellent professor, enthusiastic with very informative lectures. Good note taking skills are required for this class if you want an A or B. She covers a lot of material quickly so pay attention to everything she says, even the most minute details will appear on exams. It would be extremely helpful to record lectures.

Yes, tape recorder should be mandatory, the tests are abstract, but if you go over her notes, and know absolutely everything you can get a B. Her lectures are fun to listen to, and she is an expert in the field, hence the difficult tests. Don't even buy a book you won't use it. She actually teaches from an older book she used at orange coast.

TAPE HER LECTURES..Even if she talked about something for a second its fair game on a test.Get the book she used at Orange Coast. The one she recommonds for us is no help. NOte you have to write an immune system report and do unknowns for lab. Other than that tests are what your grade turns out to be

Extremely tough instructor; you must be prepared to eat, breathe, & sleep micro! Professor has 30+ years of knowledge/experience in this field. Therefore, a lot of information is crammed into a very short amount of time during the semester. Never miss a class you will regret it as things move very fast & you cover so much in ONE class! Be prepared!

One of the best teachers. She's difficult, but GREAT teachers make you work. Sit at the front, record her lectures, and take good notes. The textbook helped a lot too with details. Darla is passionate and super knowledgeable. Even if you think it's a silly question, just ask her! Put in the effort and you will see great results.

By far my favorite professor. She loves microbiology, and it shows. She gets so in to her subjects and you can tell she really cares about them, which in turn makes you care. She does tell stories that you just want to stop and listen to, but then adds them to the test so you have to take good notes, but she was the best.

She's very knowledgable in the subject matter and she has fun lectures. She incorporates stories into her lectures, which make them interesting. Make sure you record her lectures and take good notes. It's a fun class, but requires a lot of time + effort. She's fun + approachable and tries to help you out. If you're not gonna study, don't take her.

Darla is very funny and its obvious she cares about how well her students do. Just record her lectures and read through your notes and you should get a B average on the tests. She's a really nice person but her tests are pretty difficult. She makes you work for your grade and is very nit picky but she's fair on everything.

Darla is super sweet and she's actually extremely interesting to listen to. I took this class over the summer so it was very fast paced with everything you would do in a semester within 7 weeks; she really doesn't take anything out from her original syllabus in a normal semester. However, she cares so if you need help, just ask and she answers.

Darla is a very sweet and knowledgeable professor. She really cares about helping you if you have questions. This was the hardest class that I have ever taken. You will not pass if you don't record her lectures. Study the handouts. She does not post grades to blackboard so you have to meet with her to find out grades through semester.

GREAT teacher who really makes you work for it. She really cares about the students. You will not pass if you don't study. LAB tests are intense, study real hard for it because points mostly count for lab. Lecture tests are very hard, but her lectures explain everything. wish I could take her for all the Biology classes! lOVE HER!

She's sweet but her exams are rather detailed and some questions were irrelevant. And for finals week she gave us a group final and an individual comprehensive final exam. The average went up only because half the class dropped because they had D's or F's. She believes it's like that b/c the material is hard but it's her questions. She's tricky.

Darla is 1 of those treasures u come across in CC education. She is so knowledgable & clearcut, genuinely cares about the subject and YOU. Taking this class in summer was HARD, it's no cakewalk. Record lecture & go over notes multiple times, 100% possible to get an A. Darla's teaching helped me establish better study habits and learn so much! 10/10

Darla is one of the best professors I have ever had. You can tell she has a passion for teaching and microbiology because her face lights up and she gets really excited about certain subjects. She has a very warm heart. Her lab practicals and exams are difficult so study hard. Don't be afraid to ask her questions if you are unsure of anything.

Darla truly is a gem! Take her! She made me love microbiology. If you want an A, you need to put in the time. DEFINITELY record her lectures! I recorded and replayed every single one and wrote down everything she said. Try to go to tutoring- hearing the info over again helps it stick. Make flashcards. Lab with her was fun too! Just pay attention.
