Very nice lady, and always available for help, but you have to study ALL the details!
If you have a weak background in algebra, I would recommened a tutor. She also tends to use a different style of questions than those found in the book. And, e-mailing her is a waste of time. Avoid her class if possible!
Avoid is possible!!!!
Not a bad instructor, but tests are hard. Not much personality. The depart. final was ridiculous. I failed it and I studied like a big dog (I had a B going into the final & ended up with a C). Avoid taking math at UTA at all costs unless you are a whiz.
You better study and if you aren't strong in Algebra then kiss your pretty GPA goodbye i got a B in that class and had to claw my way to it so good luck and god speed
the only people who did not do well were those who came in with a weak understanding of algebra from high school or showed up to class once a week. she is always available for help, and the real effort is just paying attention because class is not interesting... a very pass-able class.
Avoid like the plague! RUINED my GPA! I wasnt bad in math but this class made me feel like an idiot
talks very quickly...this class makes me feel like i'm in 6th grade algebra again...very boring...breathes heavily and kind of grosses me out
Very good teacher. i understood everything
I like her class. She teaches very well and i understand everything
Good at teaching, dedicated what ever she teaches, quizs are given, if you do well in quizs more likely you will do well on her exams, but her classes can be boring since she goes step by step. Important to keep up with her homework so it won't bundle up near exams.
she is eazy as hell and eazy 2 understand...just make sure u noe da notes...inside and out
Boring but VERY easy to understand. Excellent instructor, very organized and consistent. Knows her subject well, and is nice and helpful. Do the homework, and practice the problems and you should be fine. I had to retake the class and I chose her again. If you fail this class, it would not be because of the professor!
she's a good teacher, but her tests are VERY hard. i wouldn't recommend taking her because although she gives you a review for the test, it doesnt help. Her class is boring so i wouldn't suggest taking it early either. she does homeowork online & it's easy because you have unlimited chances to make 100s but thats not any reason to take this class.
Good teacher, easy quizes, medium tests.
I am usually mediocre at pre calculus and trig but she was very incomprehensible and her notes were unhelpful to anyone unless you were a genius in pre cal
really good at explaining. the class is boring and it is hard for me, but i hate math. but really she's a good teacher. maybe if you practice or soemthig the class is easier.
Prof Campbell is great. Very clear with what she wants done for problems. Very helpful outside of class too. She is ALTHOUGHT... very ...very boring. Talks very slow. but i'm taking her for precal next semester.. shes very good. She is VERY organized. also, perfectionist like. Very easy A if you're decent at trig
I'm pretty decent with math, been an A student in it, and even acheived an 98 in College Algebra. There were only 2 test and a final, and the two test were a do or die and the final was crazy hard.
I HATE MATH. But this teacher is SO nice if you put the effort forward...unfortunately, i made D's on the first two tests, so i had to drop. She can be a little boring, i made myself sit in the front row so id stay awake, she uses math terminology, so if you dont have a strong math foundation or math isnt your thing, i'd take another teacher.
She does a great job at explaining, however the tests are much harder than the examples she works out in class. So unless you have a strong math foundation, I don't suggest you take her. Only about 5% of the people in her class make an A...(off of **** website)
I had Campbell for Trig, and she was always very thorough with the material. She also provides a lot of opportunities to save yourself if you are struggling. She drops a quiz grade and a test grade and her tests are multiple choice.
As everyone else has said, she is boring, but incredibly clear. Also, she is an efficient teacher, even if it feels like the class moves slow. Again, this is a testament to her clarity.
terrible!!beware!!go else where!! first day she will be happy to tell the class that by the end of the semester half will either drop or fail and she seems to take pride in that. homework is on web-assign so beware!no calculators are allowed on test, which are all comprehensive,no quizzes,no extra credit. consider dropping if you have less than a C.
This teacher knows her stuff and is very helpful one on one, but she uses difficult math terminology and her exams are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Be prepared to commit lots of hours of studying for this course.
She is a great professor. She is nice and takes the time to ask us if we have any question. When she answers questions it is very clear. The tests are straightforward, you just have to study and know how to do the problems. She is great, and I highly recommend her!
HARDEST tests ever. even if you study! no curves no nothing. Im smart im math and am having trouble just passing this one! dont take!
The exams ARE difficult. This is not a class you can just put minimal effort into and get by. I am a 4.0 student and have always excelled in math, but because I did not have adequate time to study for this course, I am hoping for a B. Another downside: the final exam is THE DAY AFTER the last course material exam. Not enough time to review IMHO.
study questions do not correspond with test clearly
It's easy to get lost listening to her lectures since she tends to over explain and complicate problems. Once you figure out what information you don't actually need, things get a bit easier. Be prepared for test questions that aren't covered in notes but rather a culmination of what you were supposed to have figured out along the way.
DO NOT take this class online. I put so much time and effort was put into this class.... and the confusing test questions, exchange student tutoring, and uneven weight of assignments--- 5 tests = 70% Final= 30% of grade.... no quizzes or homework to help grades.... college algebra shouldn't be this difficult.
Over-complicates problems. If you email her outside of class she is unwilling to help, and her SI leader did nothing. Do not take her if you don't have a strong background in math, you will get so lost and have to in class help.
Can't disagree with much of what has already been said. The tests were absurdly difficult. Neither the video lessons nor the homework adequately prepared you for them. It seemed like you were expected to be able to intuit methods to solve problems never covered in any of the class materials. It was unreasonably hard to be successful in this class.
Especially the Final is VERY difficult. With no review.
Math is easy for me, but I made a C on the first exam. The homework and chapter reviews offer easy questions. The exams are considerable more difficult than the reviews. They seem to be written by a different professor. You won't earn an A by simply understanding the concepts. Do yourself a favor, choose a different professor.
You definently need to have current practice with algebra and concepts. If you've been out of the "math game" for a while, you will struggle greatly. I took this class online and used every resource I could find. More examples throughout the book and better explanations from the book would have been helpful.
She doesn't help much at all, unwilling to help outside of class. Unwilling to compromise on missed classes. Not a very good teacher.
Worst Teacher that I have had. Outside of class this teacher is completely worthless. Avoid this teacher if possible, there are other teachers that teach on the same day that are amazingly better than this teacher.
The teacher is not bad, but the course is hard. Attendance is mandatory and roll is taken by turning in a class quiz. If you miss more than three classes 5 points is deducted from over all gpa(this applies for the mandatory lab as well) Lab instructor was useless.
The material she taught at the lectures was simple to understand. The problem though, was that the tests were nothing like that, and they were much more difficult. Also, attendance is mandatory because you must turn in a quiz to prove you were present. Her lab instructor was not very helpful, either.
Her practice problems she used in class was not like her test. And her first test mimicked the review she gave us but her second review was NOT consistent. I would NOT recommend her as a teacher.
She's not as bad as the people say. She knows the material well, will teach well, assigns homework that helps, but I wish it wasn't mandatory. Her tests aren't that hard if you did the hw, paid attention in class and went to tutoring. Doesn't allow notecards on regular exams like other professors. Overall good professor if you work diligently,
Taking an online College Algebra course is challenging. This professor has very good lecture videos and reasonable homework assignments. However, if math isn't your strong suit, you'll struggle because this math class is for those who have a strong background in intermediate algebra. Hard exams, useless coaches, no support.
She is a very bad lecturer. Her lectures and her test are complete opposites. Before her class I always had A's in math. Now I hate math. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO PASS!
Terrible lecturer, dont ask for extra examples because she wont give one. Tries to teach 3-4 chapters in 80 minutes and just puts books to the screen and isn't good at making the lesson flow, she jumps around so it's hard to understand. She suggests if you dont understand to click the "help me solve this" button online. Does allow notecard on test.
She doesnt teach. i taught myself online. when you ask for help she tells you to " click the help me solve this " button on the website. she never attends lab, the pals help us. ATTENDANCE! is mandatory if you dont she take 4 points of your overall grade each 2 times you miss. she is very mean and has the biggest attitude.
Not helpful at all. Everything is prety much online and only the lab helpers really help. You have to teach yourself.
3 Tests(55%), 1 Final(30%), and Homework/Quizzes(15%). Attendance mandatory. Her teaching is NOT bad. For tests, make sure you know how to do all homework problems(review a 2nd or 3rd time if needed). The online help buttons really do help when you are stuck. I literally got 100's on all homeworks, quizzes, AND all 3 tests.
homework and quizzes are not hard. The test is pretty difficult. She is a terrible teacher. The test is work 55% so once you mess up it is hard to bring your average up. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO TAKE THIS TEACHER.
She is a horrible teacher! dont take her. Will not help you one bit to recieve and she is really mean and rude. Emailed her asking what i could do to succeed in the class or some points and basically emailed me back making me sound like i was doing nothing in the class!
For the love of God, do NOT take this class! I learned more from Google than from her. Need help with a problem? She'll answer you with one word: Bummer.
She is not very helpful as a teacher. Class is ridiculously hard for college algebra. Everything, including tests, are on the computer, and if you don't format an answer the way the program wants you to, you get the entire question wrong. Final is comprehensive, and very difficult.
FAILED THIS CLASS TERRIBLY! SHE IS NOT SYMPATHETIC TOWARDS HER STUDENTS SHE KNOWS SHE COULD HAVE DROPPED A TEST GRADE! EVVIIIIIIILLLLLLLL! DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!! JUST TAKE 1301 INSTEAD!!!!!! AVOID COLLEGE ALGEBRA AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!
terrible teacher.. class is based on the math program MATHXL. If you don't fill it in correctly you will get the whole problem wrong. EVEN if you make a simple mistake like forgetting a comma, she doesn't care she will tell you "BUMMER" I love math, but she makes it SUCK. PLUS the final is on MATHXL. NOT MULTIPLE CHOICE!!
Hardest class EVER. All based ONLINE and if you make any kind of error its ALL WRONG. DONT TAKE
I liked her. People don't like the class because we only had lecture once a week and then the rest was in the computer lab working on Math XL. It isn't her fault that the math dept requires this. For the limited time she has to teach and the crazy number of students she has, I give her props. Plus, I made an A. Just study :)
Professor Campbell is not a bad teacher; however, she is only given one day per week to lecture several chapters, so sometimes she moves quickly and you may need to open your book. All the work is given online and they are not difficult. If you complete the homework, it's 100. The quiz and test questions come directly from the homework. Easy A.
College algebra seems easy but it's actually a NIGHTMARE with this professor! She doesn't help what so ever and everything is ONLINE! I attended class regularly and took decent notes but since everything is online even if you miss a decimal point the whole question is counted wrong. WORST class ever!!!!!!!!!!
Horrible ! if you have a question in the lecture she says read the book , hello we dont know what we're looking at she was not approachable the lab was ok the people are ok they help , all the work is on the computer and you have to go or its points off you have to stay till a certain time even if you finish early
Professor Campbell is unsympathetic, to say the least. Probably a good teacher if math is your forte but avoid at all costs otherwise. Will not work with you under any circumstance for late work.
The class is pretty much online, I would have rather taken my class at a community college than pay to see my professor once a week and have a lab twice a week. Doesn't always get through the notes that go with the assigned homeworks due before the next class.
This lady is ridiculous! Ridiculously awful that is, first the whole math class is online making grading even worse. We only meet once a week and have math "lab" twice a week. This so called "lab" is just a mandatory computer room where u get on there and get forced to do your homework. This is college, you don't have to force me to do my hw.
DON'T TAKE HER. SERIOUSLY. JUST DON'T DO IT. I was really good at math in high school, but this class SUCKS. She goes over easy examples in our once-a-week lecture and then you go to try do the all-online homework and the questions are 10000000X harder. She doesn't explain how to do 1/2 the stuff and the book only confuses me more.
STAY AWAY!!!! The lecture is super boring, her tone of voice is lifeless which does NOT combine well with math. Everything is online which makes it that much harder, no multiple choice or partial credit, lab is pointless. Test are worth 80% of grade and each test covers like 8-10 sections. Unless you're really good at math on your own don't take.
This is the worst math class I have ever taken, she does not help, her lectures rarely helpful on homework. All of the class work is online and the system is extremely hard and picky about answers. She doesn't like to help and does not give extra credit or curves on test. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. This might as well be an online course. Everything is done on the computer, including learning since her lectures are close to useless when doing the homework/quizzes/tests. Buying the book is a waste of money since it's never used. Also, I know class isn't supposed to be fun but this was bordering on painfully boring.
This class was insane. Not only was it expensive, but them you have to pay for each test that has a weird proctor watching you through the webcam. Even my tutor (who is a math major) was disappointed in the difficultness of the class If you live in the Houston try HCC or Lonestar college, you will have much better success. It's way too much.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I am a good student. I go to class and put time into my work, but this proved to be the worst class ever. Huge work load & she is super rude. Don't think I saw one smile.
If you find yourself failing the class or having a really difficult time, I STRONGLY recommend dropping the class before it's too late. Don't be me and regret not dropping later on. If at all possible DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR.
DO NOT take this class. This was by far the worst class I have EVER taken. It's all online and no multiple choice. Answers are hard to input sometimes which results in an answer being completely wrong even if you know it but can't put it in the right way. Math is my strongest subject and I'm having to take this class for a second time now.
I can't say much about professor Campbell herself because I never attended her lectures--and for good reason! ALL of the homework/tests/quizzes were through the online program. Attendance is apparently mandatory although not clearly stated in syllabus. Never used the $200 textbook required for class. If you take this class, take it online.
I was scared from the reviews at first but the only problem with this class is buying the $200 book just for the online code. Theres one lecture day and the rest is online labs, and the whole damn system is screwed up, which isn't her fault;she tries to help but has no mercy for those who don't try or pay attention. But I enjoyed her lecture class
This course is ridiculous. She does not go in-depth at all during her lectures, giving you maybe one example, and then you spend the entire lab trying to figure out the homework.
Other reviews have it right. No mercy, no sympathy. Huge class in an auditorium and uses a microphone to speak. Terrible learning environment b/c everyone is stressed out and scared. AVOID. Take at a community college if possible.
Listen to these reviews. Everything (hw,quizzes, tests) were all online and she was pretty much useless during the lectures. Gives one or two easy examples and then the hw is way harder. Avoid her if at all possible.
This was a horrible math's experience that I only graced through because I already knew most of the content. All the HW Quizzes and Tests are all online. The lecture time does not cover all of what the online homework requires. For ex: 1 entire homework was based on "Gassian Elimination" . She had spent absolutely no time teaching that. Horrible.
This class was ridiculous. I had to pay to have someone watch me take the test, after the class. I could not focus on the test because I was being watched. Class was too fast pace and the prgram they use online is not effectve. marks answer wrong even when it is right.
i learned more from google and youtube and the "help me solve" button in the homework. seriously she is an awful teacher. her online "lectures" don't really explain anything and seems like she is racing someone to complete the lesson as fast as possible. relays heavily on khan academy videos to make up for poor teaching ability.
Not the best at explaining things but reading the book helps. Do the homework even though she doesn't grade it, or you won't pass. Other than that its not too hard
Too many assignments due on random days, if you miss but one section of the homework (mymathlab) you automatically fail the quiz since you are unable to meet the minimum prerequisite to even attempt the quiz. When asked about "If all homeworks could be due at the same time as the quiz", we were given a "NO".
Everyone complaining about Dr. Campbell just wants to be spoon-fed the material. She is a great professor and teaches what she can with the time she has. Yes, you are going to have to take the time to teach yourself some things, it's college, get over it. My best advice is to study the online hw for the test. You'll be fine if you do so. :)
Ok lemme help all you guys out there. Do not take this teacher. If you need this class, take it at community college. AVOID THIS TEACHER. All the homework and quizzes are online, but the test is in person and nothing at all like the hw and quizzes. She is horrible at explaining and is soon slow and boring. We got behind so many times. DONT TAKE HER
She is an excellent teacher, 1421 was new so it had kinks. She is very good at breaking down the subject and explaining it to everyone. For this class just practice the homework and you should be good. However the tests are departmental, so they make it very difficult. If anything take all your math classes at a community college if possible.
Ms. Campbell is a very good teacher. Just turn up for every class and have some basic knowledge of math.
Ms. Campbell is a very good teacher. Just turn up for every class and have some basic knowledge of math.
Ms. Campbell is a very good teacher. Very thorough and give detailed feedback if you ask for it. Just turn up for every class and have some basic knowledge of math.
She is a mediocre professor, but she spends a lot of time going over definitions instead of actually solving math problems. This class had departmental exams which were somewhat challenging and the homework +quizzes were on math lab plus. The curriculum was poorly constructed. The lab was useless as it didn't correspond with the class. Not easy!
