Very good professor. Funny and outgoing. Made class fun.
Great teacher, made class oodles of fun.
Professor Costakis was an awesome teacher she made the class worth gettind up for. I would recommend her over any engliah teacher.
Prof. Costakis was an awesome teacher. She's always willing to help and share her life with you. She doesn't act like a normal teacher haha - She's fun and makes class fun. Definitely the best English teacher I've ever had!
GREAT teacher! I've never learned so much from any of my teachers as I have in Prof.Costakis's class. Makes class interesting and fun while still teaching. She is really my favorite teacher of all time defintely take this class if you get the opportunity!
Costakis was one the best teachers I've ever had. She doesn't waste her students' time and she makes her class interesting with stories.
fun. interesting. you have to write A LOT but it's college comp so you can't really help that...she seems truly interested in your work and is extremely nice.
Prof. Costakis is the best teacher EVER!! I can't wait til COMP II I can't believe I am saying that..but she actually made me enjoy writing!!
lots of fun easy to understad i took her for comp 2 and lit and i think everyone else should to
She is a great teacher. It was not the easiest class I've ever had but you will learn from her.
Really great teacher, makes assignments fun and theres a lot of freedom on what you can write. Clear and to the point. Does not lecture. ALl in all, awsome! Hope I can take her again.
She is an amazing teacher. Probably one of the best at PCC. As long as you write your papers and show up to class it is an easy A.
Prof. Costakis was the best Professor I had. I will be taking her again. She is an inspiration and she made me love writing again.
I love her, she makes class fun.
Great teacher, not much homwork. She goes over what she wants in papers and is very clear when she explains things. She will throw in an easy project every now and then.
This professor is awesome. I highly recommand this class for everyone. When you go into her class you will feel like singing "flow ryder song" and say The Beast sent you! Also for kicks, wear apple bottem jeans.
Make class a blast!
She is an amazing professor. i hate writing and she made i fun and interesting. she is really helpful and remembers your name after the first class. love this lady!
She is very nice, it's an easy class, and she makes it fun. Impossible to fail!
she was a wonderful teacher. very easy to understand. easy class wonderful lady. i highly recomend her.
My first day in the class I thought she was going to be the meanest teacher I ever had, but after that she became one of the funniest, nicest teachers. I loved her class!
Professor Costakis is AMAZING! She is a great teacher! I highly recommend her. She is great in making sure that you understand the assignment. Prof. Costakis is fantastic!! She is always willing help her students at anytime.
She grades faster than any prof I have ever had! Very clear explanations and lectures, assignments/dates all in Syllabus so you can turn things in early if you want. I did the internet class - she encouraged communication between classmates and always responded to emails quickly.
I really enjoyed her online Comp I class. Turn your assignments in on time, and it's an easy A! She is very clear on what she wants in her assignments! I would definately take her again, as well as recommend her to anyone!!!
THIS CLASS WAS ONLINE AND I TOOK IT IN A 6 WEEK COURSE COMPARED TO A 16 WEEK VERY EASY
You wouldn't guess she's 50 as she acts like she's 20! She's fun and a very easy grader. She's very helpful if you need it. EASY A!
She is a great teacher. She's clear about what she wants and how she wants it, and it's a very easy A. She's entertaining too.
Mrs. C is the one of the best teachers ive ever had! She is really funny and makes class fun, not to mention she's great at breaking things down. If you do all of your work and read all of your stories you'll def get an A. I wish i could take another class with her = )
Mrs. C makes literature crystal clear. She makes class fun and she has a great sense of humor. If your not that good at writing papers, take her class because she makes it so much easier.
PROFESSOR COSTAKIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I'VE HAD AT PCC. PRIOR TO TAKING THIS CLASS, I DREADED IT. SHE IS CRYSTAL CLEAR ON WHAT SHE WANTS FROM YOU AND AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW HER DIRECTIONS YOU ARE SURE TO MAKE A GOOD GRADE. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER AND ABSOLUTELY WOULD TAKE HER CLASS AGAIN!!!
Great professor, always answered questions promptly and professionally. Loved her class, recommend her to anyone! Hybrid classes are awesome, she's laid-back with her grading and as long as you're responsible and can write, you'll pass no problem.
Overall, I wasn't too impressed by her.
Taking her now. She is incredible! Every assignment is given to you on day 1 so you know what is to come. Very funny/witty and outgoing. I currently have 100% on all my assignments (but I do write well). All 40+ students in my double class love her. A friend suggested I take her and had I not I would be hating myself. Do the work and you will be ok
Fun, thorough, enthusiastic - great teacher. I took every class I could with her and am sorry she doesen't teach more. Crazy fast on grading papers - you always know where you are with her. Reasonable work load, and she clearly explains her expectations both for internet and in-person classes. Not hard to ace the class if you do the work.
Awesome professor! Took her hybrid class - only actually met in class once a week to do class presentations & don't freak about presenting. One presentation per person & the lights can be off while you talk lol. SUPER easy class. Grades are given almost immediately after turned in which was great. Easy papers & easy A if you know MLA and do work!!
Very nice teacher and very lenient.
She is very nice. I took her online hybrid class this past january symester and it was pretty easy. We did discussions and 5 papers total. Thats it! The final was easy. Write a paper with two topics to choose from in an hour. I got a B. TAKE THIS CLASS!
very nice professor. stick on the rules, you don't have to worry about A.
Prof C is a wonderful Prof I took her summer hybrid class and it was great. She very perky and fun, cracks a joke every now and then. Downfall we had a paper every week but she helped you in any way you needed help!! I wish she taught Comp 2 but I'm taking her for LIT. Also she DOESN'T like TARDINESS!!
This Prof is SO awesome! Her class is very easy though you will have to write A LOT of papers. She very picky about the heading and grammatical errors, so be careful. But I'd definitely recommend taking her.
This teacher is so cool and easy to get along with, you will definitely have no regrets if you take her. I am not a big fan of Enlish, but she makes it fun and exciting! Good Luck.
This professor is so cool! You will like her fo sure without a doubt...unless you don't turn in your work when she ask for it, there is no reason not to get an "A" in her class...she is easy on the eyes for a professor.
She is a very lenient teacher. She specifys what she wants from you.
Awesome professor. I hope to had her again!!
This class was Awesome I took the hybrid class which was easy and fun :) Will def take her again!
Excellent professor. Clearly defines her expectations on the first day and provides you with a list of all assignments, due dates, and requirements. You will never be in class the entire time. She is very easy going and knows her stuff. Does not accept late work! Had ZERO interest in LIT, but she made the class enjoyable.
This teacher has been one of the best teachers I've ever had! It's like she gets it that we are human and we have busy lives. She has been so helpful and the workload she gives is not overwhelming. Thank you Prof. Costakis!
I would recommend Prof. C to anyone who really wants to learn. Lots of writing and reading, but you will enjoy those short stories. I look forward to taking other classes with her. One last note, don't be late for class!
Best professor I've had by far. She's helpful and gets straight to the point. The only class I actually enjoy going to because she's funny and makes class interesting. The work load is just right and the topics are easy to write on. I can't wait to have her again for Lit. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone and everyone.
Very easy teacher. took online class and if you can read, you will get an A.
AWESOME! AWESOME! BRIEF CONCISE AND TO THE POINT.
I had her for Comp 1 and she was just an awesome teacher! I would take her class in a heart beat again. I am actually going to take her for Literature. Tips: Be there on time and make sure you have everything you need for class. She grades fair but somewhat hard, Just make sure you do you work. :)
She is amazing, wonderful teacher for new college students. Her lectures are hilarious, easy grader, always willing to help out. Follows the syllabus to the point. I would take her for every English class if I could.
To the point, hilarious lectures and don't be late! Totally take her. Awesome professor!
My favorite professor. Took her for Comp and now Lit. The work is not hard, just get done and it should be an easy A. Just turn in your work on time and don't be later for her class. I'd recommend her to anyone and everyone.
Best teacher ever. She is very funny and makes the class enjoyable. Just show up on time and ALWAYS turn your work in on time and she is fantastic! I am sad that I have no other English classes for my degree. I highly recommend her for anyone!!
DONT BE LATE TO CLASS! But other than that she is an awesome teacher. Her Lectures are straight forward. Easy A.
took her for both enc01 and 02. WONDERFUL!!! Very fair at grading papers and explains everything for you. Do the work and you will get a fair grade. VERY helpful and gives class notes when needed. She is wonderful and loved taking her class in person and online:)
Easy going teacher with a fun personality. Assignments are ridiculously easy and she has no problem with questions. She is strict on being tardy and phones; I would recommend this class anyway because the difficulty level is low.
I just took the hybrid summer class and was very pleased with the results. If you study, ask questions and do your work, you will be graded fairly. She does not hand out an "Easy A" as some say. Do you work, take responsibility and you'll do just fine. She is to the point and very accurate. Show her respect& DO NOT BE LATE TO CLASS!
Fantastic teacher! Highly recommend her. Enough said.
Loved this class. I am hoping that I can take her for Comp 2 as well !
I took her hybrid class for literature. She loves her job, and it shows. Her class consists of 3 papers which she grades extremely fairly and a presentation. Quizzes and discussions were online. No tests or finals. I loved this class. Just don't be late :)
She's a great teacher. She cares! She teaches at Southeastern as well so it's likely she won't remember you unless you're late! She hates that. I thought she was a hard grader but that being said, I made a low A so it's not THAT hard. Her class is mostly (a lot of) writing, not much grammar. I would definitely recommend her.
very good prof. Smart and does not like those that are tsrdy. I'd recommend her.
Never again.
This class was fairly hard to me and I usually get A's in all of my classes but for this one, I really had to work hard to earn it. She is really NICE and helpful IN PERSON but she's straightforward online. She respond back your Emails very quickly. In the end, I RECOMMEND YOU TO TAKE HER IN PERSON.
Do not take her. I learned nothing from this class! I'm an A/B student but recieved a C. She grades harshly. DO NOT BE LATE TO TURN IN ANYTHING. I received a ZERO for turning in a paper ONE MINUTE LATE. She gave no work/study material on grammer, but we were tested on it at the end. Very frustrating! Take Carol Martinson instead!!!
Very sweet and helpful. Goes above and beyond for her students. But she holds you to what she expects. It's college. That's what happens.
Definitely recommended! She is awesome, and makes the class very enjoyable. Don't be late, and be prepared to participate in front of the whole class!
I loved her.
Do not show up late. She keeps the class interesting and she does have a sense of humor. If you do the writing assignments and follow direction for her papers you should be ok. There is a Test at the beginning of the course and end.
Professor C. is funny and very easy to understand. She is very clear about what she wants from her students and makes sure you have access to information you need at all times. I loved her class and will take her again for sure. The only way to fail her class is to be lazy.
VERY reasonable grader!!! NO homework!! only essays and discussions and a gramma test at the end of the semester. She replies to emails extremely fast too! she is strict on late work but overall easy class:)
I loved her! uses real life situations that help you to understand exactly what she requires of you. I would recommend her for Comp 1 Comp 2 and Lit!
I took her hybrid Lit class. This class is veryyy easy. It consists of 3 papers, 1 presentation, and weekly quizzes and discussions. She's a very easy grader and there's really no reason to not get an A in this class! Loved learning the interesting background of the stories each week. Just don't be late and you will be fine!
There is a grammar test at the end of the term that there is no prep (no assignments, etc) There are mandatory discussions which gives you a chance to see how the other students think. It is important that all papers are put in MLA format and pay attention to deadlines. She can be vague in the comment section on papers submitted.
Papers were graded fairly. You have to read most of your papers to the class. Online discussions are an easy grade. Not much reading, and gives you plenty of time to write essays. Our class was full of immature ppl that would make her go off subject, A LOT! There is no preparation for the grammer test, but you should know the stuff.
I took this class online and over the summer so this is coming from that perspective. This class was fairly easy. All of the assignments are open on the first day and you can stay ahead and complete all of the assignments, discussions, essays and quizzes. This is the format: Read and summarize short stories, take quizzes, write 2 essay papers.
Great teacher!! Tells you exactly what is expected of you. As long as you do the work and try you will do fine. No extra credit and no late work is accepted. Overall great teacher to take.
Awesome teacher. Very fun, but you learn so much! It is a writing class, but if you put the work into it, its an easy A
Best English teacher I have every had, she makes college realistic and she is very understanding of circumstances that may arise. I would take her for comp 1, comp 2 and lit !!!
I am currently finishing up my class with her now; she is amazing! My only advise is do not be late. Also message her if your going to miss class. Other than those 2 things its easy. She is a goof ball, it helps keep the stress down.
I took Costakis for Comp 2 online. This was my first online course. DO NOT TAKE HER IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST ONLINE COURSE AT PSC. Please, I got A's on all my assignments but totally missed the first one. So overall I got a B in the class because there are NO EXCEPTIONS to the late rule. The way she organizes the assignments is really confusing.
Great teacher! Her class set me up for future classes at Polk State.
Show up to class on time. Read all of your short stories. You don't need the book if you're willing to read the short stories online. Just google them or use the Spark Notes. Quick grader and is very fair. Expectations are clear.
Overall good experience. Clear due dates and syllabus. Responded to emails promptly. Took a while for the last few grades to post, but she had a lot of classes and a lot of papers to read. Does not take any late assignments, but the due dates are posted before the class starts. I would take her again.
She grades essays really tough and doesn't accept late papers. You need to read the syllabus good because she doesn't like answering questions. She doesn't give extra credit. Not even 1 single point. Assignments are easy but essays are a little tough. I only had like 3 essays,1 grammer test(lakeland TLCC), 1 final essay, and 1 research paper.
College Composition 1 was an easy class, if you're good at writing (I say this as a Secondary English major, so maybe I'm biased). Yes, Costakis does teach on grammar and punctuation, as well as the types of essays. There were a few SHORT essays and a research paper. We also took a grammar and in class essay final. She's funny: get ready to laugh.
I took Eng. Comp. 1 in HS through PSC's collegiate program (which I highly recommend!) Costakis is a great professor and you will learn, so long as you keep up. She grades with a strict rubric and does not accept late work, and class participation is a must. Essays are 70% of the work, but are simple. Be prepared to write & read all instructions!
She is a great teacher. She has a great peronality and always makes class fun. Her expectations are clear. There maybe a lot of reading but it's an English class so expect it. The reading consist of many short stories, poems, ect.. Do the work on time and don't be late to class this will guarantee your success.
She Was rude when i emailed her about some of my grades. Shes super tough and i would never take her again. Some people like her and some dont i did all my work and made an A. I just personally dont like her attitude.
There is no reason why any assignment should be late--even with accelerated class there is plenty of time to do them; very reasonable assignments. You learn a lot and totally awesome MLA hand outs for future classes--KEEP THEM! Her handouts help you! Her online class was awesome, and I highly recommend her. I cannot emphasize this strong enough!
For the average PSC student, this class will be one of the most challenging they'll take. I think this was one of the more difficult classes that I have taken based on workload and quality expected. She provides very descriptive definitions of what she expects in your papers or discussions. She's a great teacher, and I'm taking her for LIT in fall.
She is by far the worst teacher I have ever taken. She will contradict what she wants from you, she will tell you to write about this but magically expect you do this or that when she CLEARLY did not make that clear at all. Her due dates are very wacky so if you have a certain schedule it will be hard for you.I would NOT recommend her at all.
She kind of makes you feel like you are not good enough. For every assignment I would carefully read instructions and spell check my work. She would reply that I did not follow criteria and there are misspellings. Every thing I did it felt like she did not like it.
She is hands down the best English professor I've ever had. She's not the easiest, but don't let that scare you! I got an A. She is clear on what she expects, and gives you multiple chances to get your papers correct. Her class will prepare you for any english class you take after that.
One of my favorite English teachers, ever. She gives great feedback and truly helped me improve on my essay writing skills. She explains everything you will ever need to know about any essay, so make sure you show up to class. She does grade essays tough, but I promise you it is in your benefit. Also, don't show up late.
Costakis is hilarious! I had her for a hybrid class, so we only met up three or four times in person but her instructions are very clear and unmistakable. Tough grader, but it helps to have the corrections on your essays. Be ready to prefect your MLA formatting,
Typical English teacher. She is clear with her assignments. Gives plenty of time when taking her online. Course assignments are given at the beginning of the course. Quick to mark off on things such as incorrect format which is understandable. I believe she is a good teacher to take online if you have to take English online.
Prof Costakis is quite a tough grader, although she is very clear with what she is expecting. Make sure to do the reading, it makes everything easier. Good Teacher, just expect writing (Which I think is pretty obvious.)
Not my favorite, but not a bad choice. I took an accelerated program that only lasts half a semester, so I wasn't with her long. Probably would take again if there wasn't a better option.
Love the fact that she lets you work ahead and turn in assignments early. Participation in the discussions is a must. I enjoyed reading the assigned stories and everyone's feedback.
Very clear and easy criteria. 3 essays for the whole semester (generally two pages long each). While the rest are discussion and quiz from the stories you read (which I just read from sparknotes and passed). Class is easy although shes critical/harsh on papers, she didn't murder my grade. I still got an A from doing my discussion and quizzes.
Super funny lady and going to her class didn't feel like a chore.
Not sure where the good reviews came from. She has not told one person in the entire class that they are doing anything the right way. I am an all A student and struggling in her class. Her instructions are extremely unclear and every student has commented asking for clarification which she just ignores. Worst teacher there is, I do not recommend.
Does not give good feedback. Just tells you that you are wrong with no explanation as to how to fix what she says is wrong. She is terrible. My first assignment I didn't save it with my last name first and she didn't just mark off a few points, she gave me a C and that was the only thing she said I did wrong on my entire paper. Do not take her!!
Her only feedback is negative, and never really tells you when something is good. The only way to get an A on her assignments is if you do it EXACTLY how she wants, and even then she will find something wrong with it. Not terrible, but not great either.
The weekly assignments are ridiculously easy (discussion post, quizzes) but she grades very harshly on her papers. The directions are NOT clear for the papers. Also, the feedback on the papers is very generalized. She does not critique papers, even though she posted Abbreviations used for correcting. Awful teacher.
Terrible, very inconsistent with grading criteria. Barely taught at all and very little explanation when asked why something was marked off. Not good with communication and very unclear in what she is looking for.
Professor Costakis is amazing! She is very helpful and kind. I had a few medical issues come up with my family and myself and she was so understanding. I took her for two classes this semester and would recommend her to everyone.
Had a set model for how the class would run each week. Was easy to fit into schedule. Assignments are easy as long as you read the required short stories every week.
Lots of reading but easy assignments. Professor states her due dates and times that assignments are due. If you follow here directions you will get an A. If you choose to not follow her rules you will let you know. I would take her again in a heart beat.
Would not take this professor again. She does not teach the assignments, mostly concerned with MLA format. Does not provide any positive feedback and will not respond when papers were graded incorrectly. All assignments are due by 6pm on due date. Errors in assignments and grammar quiz and test on PAL. Tells you there are errors, not shown where.
She just isn't for me.
Prof. Costakis is definitely one of the hardest English teachers I've had, but she is a good one. She always gives feedback on your work and will grade it like it should be, honestly. However, DO NOT I REPEAT D O N O T turn in late work! She will say it from the very beginning and follows this policy rather well.
Make sure you read the syllabus. Overall if you put in the effort and do all of the assignments there is no reason you can not pass. All the assignments and due dates are accessible on the first day. She does not overload coursework. She grades papers on what they are, but the grading is reasonable. I would recommend her to anyone.
she's amazing... as long as you do the works you will pass easily.
I would not take another class with this professor if you paid me to. Unclear instructions are given on most assignments. In my experience, she is not a good professor and I would not recommend her to anyone. Just find another class. Polk State should consider replacing this professor. If you don't care about your grade this professor is for you.
I took her for two courses ENC1102 and ENC2210 I did not realize it was the same professor for both. She is awful about feedback; she seems to find something wrong with everyone's paper along with marking off for the dumbest things. Like if you do not save a file as "last name first name" she will mark off a whole letter grade.
I took Prof C online over the summer (fast track). I typically excel in English, I got a 98 in ENC1101. She is a very tough grader, does not give specific feed back, and is very vague on her assignments. I also believe she is more harsh when she does not agree with YOUR opinion on a subject.
Not much reading or writing required. By far the easiest Comp Class I've taken. She is always available for contact, she's great.
This was the second time I took this professor online. It was a fast-track class so there was a paper every week basically and you must make posts every week. Your course work is your attendance and if you do not post on time, you are out of luck. I consider her an easy grader as long as you meet her guidelines that she is very specific about.
If you have a full-time job, who knows maybe 2 -3 jobs or have children and you have decided to take an online class for extra time to do work. I would recommend not taking this. I could not even start the class since she only allows you to post by 6 p.m. the SAME day I work from 8-6 I had to drop the class. Her syllabus has LOTS of work & reading!
I would NOT recommend this online course! She supplies a syllabus but does not have clear instructions on what needs to be done. I submitted the wrong assignment twice because I was confused as to where to even locate the assignment on pal. Little to no feedback when graded. I was forced to withdraw. The course work is easy just too much confusion.
This professor will not accept extra credit, nor will she allow late submissions no matter what the circumstances are. She isn't good about responding to emails. Be ready for a tough grader as well. I have a 79.23 in the class and emailed her to see if there was an assignment I could do to put me at an 80. She would not do it.
No extra credit and she grades her papers roughly. When leaving feedback on the paper, it sucked. She basically copied and pasted the rubric as the feedback. When you ask in an email why you did so bad, she copied and paste the same thing. It was hard to do better on the other papers. And everything had to be turned in right on time.
I took her online and it wasn't a bad class. She just has this weird thing where you have to turn in assignment before 6 pm, instead of the usual 11:59.
She is a very tough grader. I took ENC1101 online, and the discussions were very easy but when it came to the essay, she was a very tough grader. I am an all A student most of the time and I was so close to not receiving an A in this class. When the assignment is graded, she doesnt tell you what was wrong with the assignment, even if you email her.
Professor Costakis is great, she is a very fast grader and as long as you put forth effort and try you will be fine. We had three essays due during the semester, make sure they are MLA format! Easy quizzes each week and one important discussion post. Took this for Spring Fast Track 2 and was never overwhelmed.
I had total 12 assignments including the finals so be very careful. Do every single assignment and make sure to allow yourself time for all essays. On research paper proposal dont give a broad topic. Be specific, I promise itll help you. ALWAYS save docs last name, first name or its an entire letter grade off
Nice but instructions are VAGUE!! - then she deducts points. Will not accept phone calls to ask for assignment clarification (in person or email ONLY). ALWAYS gives feedback , but it's really confusing, almost like short hand! First paragraph is always restating part of the syllabus, read further for comments specific to current assignment. AVOID!
One of the best online classes that I have ever taken, All of her assignments are open so you can finish ahead of time which I did, all the class is are 2 quizzes and a summary of 3 paragraphs per week, also she has 3 easy writing assignments, a short story, poetry, and drama paper
Clear syllabus. Online 6 week class. Each week read two short stories, easy 10 question quiz on each story, 3 paragraph discussion post on both stories (no comments on other student's posts required), 2-3 p short story paper, 2-3 p poetry paper, & 3-5 p drama paper. No edit comments on papers. Quick grader. Opens all assignments, can work ahead.
She's got really questionable feedback since she'll spacifically state not to ask her for what you did wrong... after just copy and pasting the criteria.
I took Costakiss 12 week online class during the summer. Shes a lightning fast grader and responds to emails within 1 day. Two short stories each week and a 10 question quiz. Super easy. As well as a discussion post. And 3 papers. Short story, poetry, and drama. Never once felt overwhelmed. Highly recommend!
I loved Professor Costakis!! I dont understand the low ratings she has received! Prompt grader and quick to respond to emails. Waiting to take her for ENC1102 because I enjoyed her so much! Her class is not easy you need to work for your grade, but she is fair.
I had her for composition one and I would not take her again. What I liked the least about her class for one was her organization, another thing was 90% of her assignments are due at 6:00 pm instead of the usual 11:59, and one other thing is that she doesn't give you feedback on any of your papers. She just pastes the rubric in comments.
AMAZING professor. Do the work, follow the syllabus and rubic and you will do fine. does not accept late work... you can work in advance for online courses. Email her and she will respond quickly. Also grades most papers within 12/24 hours.
Took on online and had no complaints.
Worst teacher I ever had.
The grading isn't too rigorous, and there aren't very many total assignments within the course. Unfortunately, she is under the impression that copy/pasting the rubric is feedback. It is not. That is not teaching. A computer can do that. Additionally, her assignments are all due at 6 PM. This may not be an issue for some, but for working people...
Second time taking Prof. Costakis (ENC1101 first time). Clear grading material. Two assignments a week: discussion post due by Wed. noon and one paper due Fri. midnight. Easy A if you submit quality work by due date. Grades within 12 hours. Easy to email. Only thing is she does not give individual feedback -- she pastes her rubric in comments.
She's tough, but I was grateful for it. I took her class twice and I'm super sensitive so that should tell you she's not THAT bad. Make sure you stay on top of your assignments and pay attention to details when she assigns work! Lots of textbook reading too. Just pay attention and you'll pass.
Only downside is papers are due at 6pm sharp. No execeptions or excuses. For working folks, this could be an issue.
PRETTY EASY CLASS JUST HAVE TO DO ALL THE WORK. THERE ARE 3 OR 4 PAPERS YOU HAVE TO WRITE AND TURN IN ON TIME SHE DOES NOT EXCEPT ANY LATE WORK. AND 4 DISCUSSIONS WITCH ARE READ THE STORY AND WRITE A SUMMARY.
cut and cry professor. Do the work on time, do it well and you will pass just fine. It was an easy class and i would take her classes again
She does not give you feedback on your papers. You are left in the dark about the things that you do wrong.
I took Professor Costakis's Comp 2 class in Spring of 17-18. I did it online and I passed the course with an A. I enjoyed the class a lot and she helped me out through some tough assignments. I found the workload easy and the essays were very interesting. She gave me good and long paragraphs of feedback on my essays. I would recommend this class.
Professor Costakis is a great professor. I have taken her for ENC1101 and LIT1000 and she has been one of my favorite professors thus far. She is caring and responds quickly to emails.
She will give you feedback on your grade however it is hard to understand and very wordy. She gives a reasonable amount of work and nothing is incredibly difficult but she is a very tough grader. It seems like she doesn't think any one earns an A on any work turned in.
This class was generally easy. However, I never got any feedback on my written essays. Therefore, I was never able to improve my writing. Her feedbacks were just a copy and paste of the explanation in the beginning. Only problem with that is even though I read it five times, and my wife who passed her class with her with an A couldn't understand it
She grades papers in no time and never gives clear feedback, only a copy and paste, wordy comment that I'm sure she gives everyone else. There's no way to improve on papers since you don't know what she wants from you. When I try to ask for a more specific comment on my paper, she tells me to just look at her original comment.
Professor Costakis expects a lot out of you. If you struggled with ENC1101 or 1102, I strongly recommend finding another Professor. She gives no specific feedback on your essays, rather a copy and paste that she sends to all students. She is not lenient on due dates, despite the situation you may be in.
Professor Costakis provides no feedback specific to the assignment that you have submitted. She uses a "copy and paste" template when she comments on the submissions and requests that you "see original comment" when you ask what was insufficient about your work. I would never take a class taught by her again.
Pros: Responsive. Grades have quick turnaround time. Ive had grades posted the same day for many assignments. Professor gives clear, specific instruction. Cons: everything said about copy and pasted feedback is true. Comments on your assignment are just a copy of the rubric or a generalized copy and pasted note. Why leave a comment at all?
The first class I had got overfilled and I got moved to professor Fitzgerald. After three assignments I had a 9% so I dropped that class and got a fast track with Professor Costakis. Her class is so easy, I hate writing and it has never been my strongest subject but I made a 100 on her final and 80's on all the other papers. I suggest you take it.
Prof. Costakis is good, she is not a tough grader. I literally got an A on all my essays and I'm not a great writer. It is an English class so all you do is write papers and a couple of summaries from the book stories. However, you will pass if you do the work.
Professor Costakis is hard with grading. She always commented the exact same thing on every assignment and never gave an exact reason as to why I got the grade I did, so I never knew how to improve. I will say she was very kind when I missed some assignments for medical reasons, she gave me an extension, late work is not accepted otherwise.
She isn't terrible. My problem with her is that she demands flawless grammar from YOU but her understanding of grammar is flawed. She demonstrated that she didn't know the difference between a direct quote and a paraphrase. This made the final essay 2x as difficult because her instructions were unclear. An A might be hard but you can easily pass.
Only one assignment per week that alternated between a 2-paragraph discussion post and an essay. 3-page research paper due near end of semester. Final timed grammar exam and timed essay. Managed to get a C with minimal effort.
She sucks
I have taken 3 or 4 of her courses. Her assignments are easy, she is a fair grader, answers emails quickly, and grades quickly. The only thing is that her feedback is not always clear, and she does not give extensions. If all work is done on time, then an A is definitely possible. I wish I could take her to the university with me lol.
Professor Costakis isnt that bad; however, she is not lenient with late assignments. I dont like how she grades papers she just sends you a long wordy paragraph that doesnt help you understand what you did wrong instead it confuses you. The course is not hard though it only consists of discussions, quizzes, and three papers.
Professor Costakis is the number one professor I would be wary of when choosing an online class. She is not at all clear when grading. Listen to the other comments on this page. This lady is literally the most critical professor you will EVER have. The work wasn't much, but she wanted us to spend 24 hours a week on her class. Who does that??
one of the best writing professors i had her papers were easy to understand and write. there were three main papers that were to be written. no final paper. and there were two quizzes a week but it was very doable since they were short stories and questions were right from the book. best professor would take again!
Good class. I learned a lot. Assignments must be submitted on time.
Professor Darlene's class was easy; she didn't assign too many assignments. I took a 12-week course, and it was easy for me. She is very clear on her assignments.
I love this professor. I already have taken three classes with her: ENC1101, ENC1102, and LIT100. All of them are really easy, especially composition. The literature class has a little bit more homework. I take online classes. She grades really quickly as well and answers emails quickly.
Professor Darlene's ENC1101 class is a mixed bag. The workload is manageable, but her grading can be inconsistent. Utilize resources like Unstuck study and the free textbook to stay on top of things. Overall, it's a passable class if you put in the effort.
Simple assignments, very generous grader. Even if I did a thing or two wrong on a discussion or paper, I would usually receive full points. It is easy to get a good grade and all the assignments are accessible on the first day so you can work ahead. This was a great class to take in an otherwise very difficult semester.
This woman gives assignments and then practically copy/pastes her feedback on every essay. She offers no true guidance a teacher should and expects you to read her confusing paragraphs of notes and understand what she is saying. No leadership or teaching. She harps on grammar, yet she has the grammar in her notes of a confused 7- year old.
Professor Costakis has a very clear grading criteria; however, exact details of errors in projects were not stated in the grading feedback. I rarely knew exactly what I did wrong on assignments. Overall, she is a strict professor; however, she is a decent professor to have. Her class is not unpassible, and earning an A is entirely possible.
The worst professor I have ever had in college. She cares zero for your success and states on every assignment that the course operates as a "business". You will be given a zero at 12:01am for any missing assignments with absolutely no chance at her grading late work. She should not be teaching a writing course. Her grammar and attitude is subpar.
I took this class online and overall it was very easy. Theres one assignment each week mostly consisting of reading an article and writing a small summary along with a short discussion. Other than that there were 3 longer essays to write along with a final research paper Her feedback was copy and pasted replies that didnt state what you did wrong.
Very tough grader. You must understand and do every small detail for every assignment, or she will bring your grade down. She is not very good at responding and explaining the assignments. If she is who you have to stay with don't worry take your time with each assignment and make friends in your class even if its online (what I did).
So, ENC2210 is incredibly easy with Costakis. You can easily get an A, however. This teacher and I mean this with ZERO exaggeration is the equivalent of when coaches in high school teach history. I was literally able to do BETTER than the rubric (according to another English prof) but because I didn't follow it, I got points off.
She wont take any late work which is fine, but she also has everything due at 6pm. I am a fulltime employee and student and I dont get home till usually a few hours later than that. Ive talked and she is unwilling to make exceptions or change. I wish this wasnt able to happen because now Ive got to tankthe gpa because I am not able to submit timely
Professor is very flat, don't expect meaningful feedback. Seems she lost interest in teaching a long time ago. Deducts points for petty reasons, such as not labeling your Word documents with “last name, first name,” which can cost an entire grade. Little effort to inspire or engage students, and no encouragement to grow or improve. Very Sad!
Average class with consistent and predictable assignments. Once you figure out how the class is set, the semester should be easy from there. Consists of a quiz about each reading for the week- simply confirming you read the texts, and a discussion comparing and contrasting some component of the two texts.
I had a hard time at first because I could never understand her feedback, but after I figured it out, I did good. Not a lot of assignments, just 3 or 4 a week. The big thing is the essay papers, but only 3 for the whole class. I appreciate the easy quiz at the end, otherwise 2 quizzes a week with simple story questions. Pretty easy class!
she was mid
This class was quite easy! While she is a tough grader, she gives feedback (not very helpful though, it seems extremely generic and even rude if you didn't do well) but when you do fantastic on an assignment she lets you know and gives you a grade worthy of your assignment. She answers messages on canvas extremely fast and is a very fast grader!
I have taken her before, and she is a tough grader. You have to do every little instruction and more just to have a chance at an A. Her feedback is super confusing, so you never really know what you did wrong. She gets better with time, but I would not try to take one of her classes again. She is very picky with assignments and in general.
