I recommend you to take Mrs Diaz. She teaches you by "hand on," guiding her student step by step on how to attack and solve problem. I withdrawn her class because I was not good at math so calculus just killed me. I now retaking calculus and this new teacher just suck. He only explain the concept, which makes it hard for visual learner like me.

I had her for both Math 60 and 81. You either love her or hate her. She hates to be interrupted. She will embarrass you if you're late to class. However, she is a great teacher. She gives very clear notes. Do the homework! The questions on quiz/test are from the homework. She is very helpful but a tough grader.

She's a child at heart. She is very fun and a great professor. She really knows how to break it down and make it look simple. If you want to really understand cal, take it with her, specially if you're going on to 185. Always go to class! She gives notes! Thats very helpful. And in class she gives hints for the exams. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Took this class partially online with class meetings for the midterm/final and passed, but wouldn't recommend it to other people. The difference in difficulty between the book and her tests was crazy. But she was very helpful and nice in all of the interaction I had with her.

Best teacher i had for math!, do the HW study before the test and you should be fine.Calculus is hard so you can't be lazy. Her test may have some really challenging questions but nothing she did not teach, i recommend her

mrs diaz was a great instructor & provided the class with all the materials needed to earn high grade. attend class and do the assigned hw & you will have no problem passing. i loved going to this class.mrs diaz is funny and explains everything step by step. the tests correspond to the hw and lectures.

I took this class in the summer in 4 weeks. moved super fast but is do-able! Darlene is energetic and helpful, as long as you don't mess with your phone or fall asleep in class you will not have a problem with her. I found her to be very helpful and managed to pass this class in 4weeks! Anyone can take is as long as you have the drive and focus!

Wonderful instructor. She is clear and concise in her lectures, she answers questions with ease and is very energetic with extreme admiration for math. Her class was challenging but it's Calculus, you should expect that going into it. I recommend any student take this teacher if you need Math 180. She's also young and loves to crack jokes. :)

Darlene is a good teacher, however she is really picky about what she wants on tests. As for the final, it is very difficult. Take this class only if you do homework (quizzes are based on it), and are a good test taker.

Class can be difficult, but just watch the videos, take notes, and do the work. The Midterm and Final are difficult, but she gives you a review packet before each. If you spend at least 1-2 hours on this class a day, you should be able to pass.

She is a wonderful teacher! this is a calculus class so it is not going to be easy, but she makes it understandable and gives you helpful tips from what she has learned. Definitely recommend her, but you have to do the homework to understand. Weekly quizzes help to understand the material. She is funny and down to earth.

Very helpful with the material. Weekly quizzes come directly out of the homework and she lets you use it on the quiz. She is very sarcastic, so if you don't have a sense of humor, I wouldn't take her. I've taken Calculus twice before and failed both times. My third time was with her and I got an A in the class! I highly recommend taking her!

Diaz was a great professor. Incredibly clear and very fluid with her lectures. Weekly quizzes were based off of homework problems. Exams are no joke. Study or fail. Notes were given to us every class. She really has a passion for math and teaching. Glad I took this class. Really helped bring out the student in me.

If you want to be well prepared for Math 185, take Diaz. The best part about her teaching style is how specific she is and how she clearly breaks concepts into steps. She's tough on her tests - make sure you know EXACT concept definitions. They will be on the test.

This class is incredibly easy as long as you're attending class. Textbook unnecessary because she teaches everything in her notes. Homework and tests are straight from the notes. If you are terrible at math, don't need it for your major, and only need it for the requirement, take this class.

Best math class I have ever taken! Prof. Diaz is funny, helpful, and easy-going. She cares about you and wants you to pass. The textbook is FREE online, along with very, very helpful FREE videos. This Professor is super nice and funny. She makes her lectures interesting by telling stupid jokes that don't always go along with the lecture. She gives help when you ask. She gives lots of extra credit. Her tests are not too hard. If you turn in everything and are in class almost every time, you will pass. The textbook is free and HW is online.

Professor Diaz is GREAT! She's very helpful and clear. She made my fear for math disappear. I would definitely recommend her and I'm taking her for the next class which is Math 105.

Really great math teacher and also somewhat attractive

I took this class for credits, and she knows what she's doing when teaching the class. She's also very understanding, and even helps the students. However, unless you go to the Math Lab for long periods of time or study crazy hard (and not procastinate), the tests will be the death of your grade.

She is one of the professors here that WILL get you ready for MATH185. Put in the work, and understand the degree of mastery she expects you to have before you take her tests. She is extremely helpful during office hours. You have her undivided attention.

Very helpful, funny she's really nice always there's to help I took this class as Online..I know MATH ONLINE! But she didn't make the class seem like a nightmare. In fact I had no choice but to face my fears with algebra by taking her class. She's gives out extra credit & is always helpful! She really saved my Semester! I'm so Thankful

I love the SCC math department's use of MyOpenMath! Textbook & homework are all online for FREE. Took this during the summer as the 4 week class which is (insane and) all online except the midterm & final are in person. I suggest only taking the 4 week version if you are comfortable with online classes and taking this course as a refresher.

I took this class on-line over a four week period. It was tough! Prof Diaz was always available and communicated daily. You need to attend exams on campus. The night before the exams there is a study session available for students to attend on campus as well. For the four week format, be prepared to spend at least 20+ hours per week.

I took this class online during the 4 week intersession. It's a ton of work but Professor Diaz is willing to help her students and is available to answer questions anytime. I spent 25 + hours a week doing homework and studying. It was intense but I'm glad I got it over with in 4 weeks rather that 16!

She is so cool and trending and knows what going on with the latest trends that students know about too. The exams are based on a 3 prong approach of mymathlab online homework which the student can print if they choose to, the notes she designs from scratch and she has a copy for everyone enrolled in the class and projects. She is very tech savvy.

Darlene is a great teacher. For the exams, she takes problems from the in-class notes and the homework. She lets you have a cheat sheet and sometimes she gives out candy. There are 2 projects, but there are instructions and examples on exactly how to do them. There's also 5 points ec for typing those and ec for the last few problems on practices.

My online class was made amazing thanks to Prof. Diaz. She would make videos to demonstrate and explain the exact problems that we did not understand. She was always available and even gave us extra time to finish assignments if she found that we had trouble with them. She really catered her class around the students needs.

Darlene is the best math prof at SCC. I really wish I could have taken her for my 3 other math classes. She wrote the book we used and it was free and easy to understand. Homework was on My Open Math about once a week. She gives 2 projects and at first I was like OMG PROJECTS? but there are clear instructions and examples. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!

Excellent professor. Must take her class. Online assignments and quizzes were fairly easy and she replies promptly with any questions you may have and explains the problem clearly to you. Wish I could have taken her for all my math courses.

I honestly didn't like math, but Darlene made it so easy and fun to understand. She tries her best to make all the material relatable, and she's beyond happy to give you feedback and help you out. Took her online class and it went well. Shes willing to help you out if you get stuck, just post it on a forum and she responds as soon as she can. She really made me understand math a lot more.

I personally had a great time taking her online class! She really cares for her students and takes the time to explain every lesson very well. There are some assignments that are very easy points, overall very good professor!

This class was Asynchronous and it was by the far the easiest math ive ever taken. If you just follow Professor Diazs guides notes, you WILL pass. The class is mainly do at your own pace and there is quite a bit of homework, but the class was not bad. By the way, she has these things called Latepasses that let you turn in assignments a week late

Professor Diaz is by far my favorite math teacher that I have had at SCC. She is super nice and cares about all her students. She is always available to help you out if you don't understand something. Test are a little hard but can be done with studying and asking questions.

I took an accelerated online STATS 219 class with Professor Darlene Diaz this Summer. Truly take her class if you can! She made math enjoyable, her instruction is clear and wise! Her grading criteria is solid and pre-set. Watch ALL her lecture videos, print out the class notes, tie them together and write and calculate as you watch. She is a gem!

Mrs. Diaz is the best! She is funny, caring, kind, supportive, fun, and loves to teach online classes. She always tells us about how she learned the concepts in Calculus and she always supports us as we learn the subject. She is great at what she does and she loves doing it. Her notes are very helpful for the quizzes and final exams. Take her!!!

Take this class! She uses a free website for her homework and tests. It's the best program I've ever used. Lots of homework at times, but almost every problem has unlimited tries and a corresponding video. Lectures were recorded. 2 hour time limit on tests, but you could take it twice. She gave us 36 hours to do our final exam. Definitely take her.

Professor Diaz was the most amazing professor I have had... Her class is very structured and set up for every student to pass as long as you put in the work and time to study and complete all the assignments, quizzes, forums, and projects. Overall great experience, she is super sweet and responds back quickly.

best class ever. please take her. so so so easy and she has videos explaining each chapter, and videos in the homework to help. such a kind and caring prof. responds very fast to messages. DOES NOT USE CANVAS. it seems scary at first but after a day I was totally used to it. TAKE HER CLASS.

Did her Math-105 for intersession. Totally doable, she gives enough time to complete the assignments and they are clearly explained. The only thing is to be ready for a surprise final at the end of the semester that is a group project. Although it's very simple. There are also two projects due through the class, but they are also easy.

Assignments are extremely straight forward which is nice. Work is on another other site but is very easy to navigate. The system is very supportive so if you need help with a question you can either ask her or the class forum. Quizzes and tests are easy. Gives helpful responses & explanation videos as well. Offers some extensions and extra credit!

Diaz's method of teaching makes calculus much easier to understand. Math isn't a strong subject for me but Diaz is always willing to explain further. Most quizzes have extra credit and she grades extremely generously with the written portfolio. Homework takes a while. Great course to complete your calculus requirement with.

Professor Diaz was great! She is extremely caring and provides a lot of resources to help her students. It is evident she does everything she can to help us succeed. There were quizzes each chapter, as well as a couple of projects throughout the semester, but no exams. Definitely take the time to watch the lectures to help understand the content.

Took calc 180 fully online. She has great recorded lecture videos but I mainly watched organic chemistry tutors. She is really caring and understanding with assignments and grading. Reasonable about of homework and exams. Probably your easiest option for calculus but you have to put in the work since its fully online.

Professor Diaz is rated one of the best to me. I have never received an A in a college course, and I received an A in her class. I took the 4 week intersession. There is work everyday day M-F. You get a couple late passes so just enjoy the class and have fun with the real life projects that apply to real life. Has a spunky fun style and very clear

Great professor! If I had any questions she responded to them immediately. Her grading criteria is clear and she always provides feedback to improve. Her lectures and notes are super accessible and I appreciated her showing her face during the videos. By far the best math teacher I've had in college.

Darlene was an amazing professor. Extra credit every week totaling 8% of your grade, easy-to-digest walkthroughs of course material with every homework problem, very lenient deadlines, and quick e-mail response time. She genuinely cares for her student's success, and it shows.

Darlene is AMAZING. She is caring, has so many resources to set you up to SUCCEED. I had technical issue and even experienced missing a test due to technical difficulties and with no hesitation she was there for me with the opportunity to succeed. I took Math180 with her and her video notes, hw, quizzes and final exam all match :)

Math 185 is definitely not an easy class; homework takes a while, so make sure you stay on track. You have to put in the work! The textbook is free, and the instructor is also caring! I HIGHLY recommend going to the Math Success Center!!! My biggest issue with this class was the slow grading; each grade took 2-3 weeks :(((

I highly recommend Professor Diaz. Her lectures are very high in quality, and they include critical concepts to learn and problem solving techniques in great details that are immensely helpful for your HWs, chapter quizzes, and final exam. Grading is fair. And, she's nice to talk to. She uses freely available openstax's textbook for her curriculum.

Best online class I've ever taken, made calculus II a breeze. Watch her lecture videos, do ALL the homework, practice quizzes and you'll pass. The quizzes are weighted heavily than final exam, but you can take the quiz twice. The quizzes is not proctored, but you do have to show hand-written proof/all work and upload that as part of the quiz grade.

If you plan to take Math 180 & 185 online, I strongly recommend taking them both with this professor. She is very experienced in teaching online, and her lecture videos are well done. Plus, she's very nice. Not only will she teach you Calculus well, but she will also gently help your academic growth for future STEM classes when you transfer.

Okay there is a lot of work but she makes it very understandable. Like she is very experienced on online courses and makes the lessons easy to follow. I liked this class because it was mainly based on quizzes not on exams. There were projects too which were decently easy to complete. Overall probably the best professor to take for math.

She is very caring and flexible. No books. She uses Open Math. A lot of work but can be done.

I'm taking Professor Diaz's statistics in intersession. I have to say, it is COMPLETELY doable. She is super nice and caring and provides everything you need to succeed! There is a clear and organized tentative schedule that keeps you on track. There are no exams but instead you will have weekly projects due. She has passion in teaching :)

Easy teacher to reach out to, and is not strict at all. You will need to show your work like any other math class. Most important thing to do is watch the videos and take notes. You cannot take this class and get a good grade without actually watching her lecture videos.

Took this class during intersession and it was great! Don't recommend it for people with other commitments because I spent around 30-40 hours a week for this class. She provides wonderful lecture videos and made everything easy to understand. There was a lot of homework, quizzes, and a total of 4 projects.

If you're online, watch the lecture videos! First day you log on? Watch the lecture notes for Chapter 1. Before you do the homework. Don't make the same mistake as me!

Overall great professor as you can also go ahead in the course whenever you would like. You can tell she cares about your grades and your understanding of the course.

She is very clean with assignments, and grading criteria's and even offers examples that you can follow step by step to ensure you receive a good grade. If you are hesitant because this course is online - Don't be. It will be the best math class you ever take.

AMAZING professor. Intimidated by Calc but the course is excellently structured. Prof. Diaz really cares about her students. The coursework is difficult but if you put in the effort she has given you all the tools to succeed. One of the best professors I've ever had.
