The class is really easy to pass, if you just attend the lectures, read your book, and do practice problems. Her exams are multiple choice at CASA. Just make sure to study!
Professor Serrato is very sweet and tries her best to be clear however her handwriting is HORRIBLE. Even sitting in front of the class makes no difference. Her lectures do not go by the book and she does not use power points to teach. Clicker questions at the end of class so attendance is mandatory.
Overall the class is easy. You just need to put in the time/effort to pay attention in class and/or read outside of class. There are online homework assignments and projects and clicker questions throughout the class so I recommend attending class. Lastly, she does follow PowerPoints, but she also does a lot of book questions that help prepare us.
Dr. Serrato is really helpful if you ever have doubts. The only thing I did not like was that it was hard understanding what she writes on the board. Her lecture is pretty much just her explaining everything and writing examples on the board. Her class is just like the rest of the accounting classes pre-chapter assessments,hw, 2 projects & 3 exams.
She is really vague on what is on the test. She tries to prepare us for exams/finals, but it don't work... She gives us reviews but, it won't prepare us for the exams/finals... What she does through lectures and reviews, is not EXACTLY what is going to be on exam/final.
The concept was hard enough, her handwriting is horrible. She's nice and has good intentions, but I'm just horrible at the subject. She did not make it any easier. Take someone else, but I think if someone was good at accounting, this would be the professor.
Professor Serrato is a very sweet lady. I understand people say accounting is hard to understand but you have to put in the effort. Her hand writing was not amazing, but she did a very good job at explaining the subject. You have to read the textbook to really understand whats going on though. Also the department curves each test.
I am not into accounting at all, so it was difficult for me to stay focused each class. You have homework, she gives you enough time to complete it though. It will feel as if you are in a fast paced course, try and keep up. you HAVE to attend class, i never missed it. TAKE NOTES! you WILL need them also she gives AMAZING curves for tests.
She is a good accounting professor! I like her lecture, she gives us her own notes which are easier and clear than the handouts from the book! TAKE NOTES! Her handwriting is not that clear but you can definitely ask her, she is patient and always give us those useful examples!!! The accounting department give amazing curves!
Dr. Serrato is a super sweet professor. She was great but her way of lecturing is very overwhelming. She teachers in her way instead of how the material will be on the exam. Her handwriting is readable but only if you sit up close. If you go to her office hours she is extremely helpful.
Professor Serrato is helpful and sweet. She does tend to rush through the chapters but her chapter outline/notes are really helpful. The more you practice the problems, the easier the exam is.
If you go to class every day, you should pass. She does use clickers for participation/attendance so make sure to bring that. Her online HW is easy and straightforward and WILL help you better understand the content so I suggest you do the HW. She flies by the lectures but makes sure to be as clear as possible. 2 easy projects, 2 HW's per chapter.
If you want to teach yourself, this is a perfect class. She does not explain anything in class, she writes everything at once without taking a breathe. You have to play catch up during class. She does not respond well to questions. She would stump herself, she would get confused and move on. And not going back and explaining.
She is so sweet and has good intentions. She writes everything on the board with a horrible handwriting and without taking a break. She teaches her way of doing things which is different from the tests. If you have a good accounting background, go for it. If you actually want to learn, take someone else.
Despite all of these reviews, I think Serrato is a very good professor. Her handwriting may not be the best, but you can always ask what something says for clarification. The practice problems she does in class are exactly like the ones on the homework. Her exam reviews are good. Take notes, do the homeworks and go to class A in financial acct
I personally think accounting is very difficult. She tries to do her best. But she lectures VERY FAST and it is hard to mentally keep up with everything that she is saying. She lets you take pictures of her writing on the board though. The online reading is really useful and the hw is easy. But the tests are hard. You have to memorize formula.
She is a great teacher even if you are not an accounting major. She really knows how to teach the material and will not hold back if you have questions. If you go to class you will be sure to get 100's on the homeworks.
Hands down the best professor I had in a very long time. Here are the key things you need to know: Sit in the front of class, Read chapters before class (or after just read it), listen to what makes sense to you (this is what makes her stand out, she explains it differently so that everyone understands the concept) & attend class. Easy as that.
I would NOT recommend Dr. Serrato if you are someone who does not get new concepts quickly. She skips through her class presentations and does not explain much. Other than that, her projects and homework assignments are straightforward, but you will have to do so much work on your own--- outside of the class.
Her classes are mandatory for clickers, you need to buy access code and will use txtbk. She's caring and she tries to clarify all your questions in class. Her teaching was good, but I'm more of a hands on learner. Just do all your assignments and it's an easy A. There's curve points for tests and overall grading also (for the entire department)
You must attend class if you want to pass this class because she lectures on two chapters per class. There are three exams including the final and they include about 4-5 chapters each and the final over all the chapters. There's a project online and homework on connect. She is an easy grader!
3 exams! You have to memorize all formulas! 11 prechapter and homework assignments! 2 projects! I did not like her teaching style! She taught way to fast and I learned most on my own!
She's a nice teacher, but does not really teach well... You will be bored out of your mind. But the subject is not really that hard. U must attend for clicker points. 2 exams, 1 final; final replaces lowest exam, if score is higher.
I believe acct overall isn't that easy to understand. With Professor Serrato you have to pay attention to the examples and know the material on the homework. Study for exams! The dept. provides us with a lot of material to study. The course is fast because there is alot of information. Do the homework, readings, projects, study and you'll be fine1
This class is not the easiest but you can definitely get A by putting in some work. I really liked Dr. Serrato's lectures. She provides great examples that help to understand the topic. You should already come to class with some knowledge about the topic (read the book) and that'll make it way easier. Also, the homeworks were helpful too.
To be able to understand and comprehend her lectures, I recommend reading the chapter in the textbook before going to class that way the new terms don't come as a surprise to you. She gives clear examples in class that simulate the homework so attend class as much as possible. 10/10 recommend
This course, in general, is difficult to comprehend. So your attendance at her class is important. If you miss her lectures, you probably fail. You will have two major exams and one final. Also, there are pre-chapter readings and homework chapters due every week so there is no break from this class. On the bright side, she does curve the test.
Lectures are important, miss a lecture you probably fail just bc she gives so much information. She prepares you thoroughly for homework & exams. Along with slides, she does practice questions in class which are same as the homework. Do the work, take good notes, and attend class for clickers, you'll pass easily! Not an easy A class tho, must work!
Good professor, study for the exams and you will be fine. Lectures are not boring and she works on problems throughout the lecture that help with the homework. 3 exams, 11 homeworks and pre-chapters, and 2 projects.
Show up to class for clicker questions, 11 online hws (three tries to get questions right), 11 online pre-chapter reading questions (unlimited amount of tries), 2 test, 1 comprehensive final, 2 straight forward non time-consuming projects!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING THIS PROFESSOR!
Great professor. Provided a lot of resources to help you on the test. Make sure you attend class, complete pre-chapter quizzes, and hw! 2 tests + final. Tests are pretty similar to the hw. She also had test review sessions! Take her!
SHES SO NICE!!! CLASS IS STILL HARDER BUT SHE MAKES IT EASIER.
If you have this professor, RUN! abeg, shes terrible. all she does is rant from powerpoint slides, doesn't go in depth with the problems. its just you and your God in this class bcs she doesn't care for you. if your a good at teaching yourself and don't really mind, then go ahead. But if not, and you care about your gpa, run while you still can.
If you're interested in teaching yourself every ounce of material as well as taking purposely deceptive poppers, then sign on up. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and don't. She rushes through lecture material, telling people to instead take pictures of the slides. Attendance doesn't even properly prepare one for doing the homework.
Her lectures are fine, but you learn more from the textbook.
Shes an okay professor. She rushes through lecture slides which makes new concepts difficult to understand but she is more than willing to help if you ask her a question. She mainly focuses on doing practice problems during class which is super helpful because they are basically identical to the homework problems, just with different numbers.
She's really nice and will help you out if you ask her. The class is boring but I don't really know how you could possibly make accounting interesting personally. It did feel like she cared about me. The homework was easy, the tests not so much for me. You don't need the book really.
Dr. Serato was a very caring professor she was the type of professor who made you work for the answer but wont let you leave class unless everyone in the classroom was on the same page. She always was a HEAVY GRADER on all projects and homework simply because she goes over the homework and projects in the lectures she also is very understanding.
Hardest class Ive taken. She rushes through the power point slides and does not explain well. If you really want to pass READ THE BOOK & DO HOMEWORK. Test are difficult because she likes to have trick questions. However, she does offer help outside of class which helped me a lot.
She's just not a good teacher. She knows a lot about accounting, but does not know how to teach.
Accounting is already hard. She cares a lot! Overall an okay teacher, but she moves too fast. She teaches almost as though we already know accounting rather than assuming we know nothing. I started attending a different professor's lectures as well as hers which is the only reason I ended up passing. Do all questions and go to office hours, etc.
A great humble person, Financial Accounting is hard if you're behind! She is always having tutoring services and they're really helpful, don't be afraid to ask for help! She is really nice and approachable
Great Professor who cares about each and every student. Her lectures do move really fast and if you don't read the chapter the night before you will automatically be lost. Moves through slides and tells you to go back and look at it if you didn't get a chance to write down. Also offers additionally studying for tests which help ALOT.
Although it is true that she teaches very fast, she still explains the concepts very concisely and clearly. Serrato is probably the most helpful and caring teacher from your options. Show up to class, there are a lot of clicker questions. For exams there are a lot of resources on blackboard that help, it just requires a lot of time to study.
She is very nice and caring! Yes she does lecture fast, but that is because there is a lot to cover and she does provide lots of time outside of class with her to review. She is straight forward, nice, and strict on her class rules. She is easy to talk to and not intimidating. You will need to study out of class, but that is because it is ACCT.
show up to class.
Dr. Serrato is an awesome professor who truly cares about students passing! She does sometimes rush through the powerpoints, but these are honestly not so great. She does it to focus more on the practice problems that help on the hw & tests. Through the semester, she offers multiple review/catch up sessions outside class & is really understanding.
Dr. Serrato is a great professor and really aims to make sure that her students understand the material . The lectures do go by pretty fast and can be kind of overwhelming but she is always willing to answer questions. There are clicker questions everyday which is part of your grade. Do the homework and pre-chapter assignments, they help out a lot!
Financial Accounting is not an easy class for most. You have to put the work in to get an A. Dr. Serrato holds extra study halls before the exams and really cares to make time to ensure her students understanding the material. Veteran Friendly!
Serrato is a great professor. She gives tons of reviews to help study for exams. Accounting is not easy but it is possible to get an A if you put the work in. Start studying in advance for exams and do all of the assignments/homeworks. The class is fast-paced so a lot of outside work is needed. Pretty sure she's the best prof to take for ACCT2331.
While attendance is graded, I never went, in fact, I did so well just by reading the book that I still got an A. Easy class, unfortunately, I think that may be because of the department and less because of her teaching abilities. I went to a few lectures and she's pretty boring, but out of all the teachers she may be your best bet.
Professor Serrato's class is very lecture and homework heavy. She explains everything well and has study halls before exams. I got an A by just showing up to every lecture and doing homework. I did pretty well on tests too but the tests aren't difficult if you attend lectures, do homework and minimally study.
She is a solid choice for this course. I was good at accounting so i didn't have any issues getting an A but she did go over things that students needed help on. The course material is the same for all professors for this course.
Professor Serrato was a good professor to learn from. She makes sure that everyone understands what's she's teaching before she keeps going. This course is challenging but the A is highly doable if you truly work for it. I struggled but in the end studied and read the book and was able to get the A. Reading the book helps with the homework
Man Darlene Serrato. Honest to God really appreciate her. She had problem shells that she did at the end of every class and man those really helped. Her group exam reviews also really helped. She's really caring and helpful and is good at explaining the problem. My friends and I had different professors and I ended with an A, they ended with a C+.
I am so grateful of Darlene Serrato. I ended with an A, which is the highest grade you can receive. Im tasing managerial right now and I'm struggling without her. She always explained things so well.
Dr. Serrato is a caring professor. Cost is very technical but surprisingly the multiple choice on the exam is tricky. I wish Serrato would spend more time teaching the concepts than how to do the calculations. W/o understanding the concepts, you can't apply the math effectively. Beware: Rote learning doesn't work well for this class at all.
She is a really good professor but the class itself requires work. If you read the textbook before coming to class and do what she asks of you in class, you should be good. An online quiz and homework for every chapter, one project, 2 tests, and one final. Her reviews are really helpful, do those before the tests! Clicker questions for attendance!
During class we mostly did exercises. I found myself following along filling in the problem shells without a clue of what I was doing, and used them to self study later. Overall, I wouldn't be against taking her again because she is a kind professor. But honestly I learned more by self studying (and cramming bc frameworks took priority).
The class goes very fast, there are 3 tests and the tests hold a lot of weight.
very kind
GOAT. Her lectures are going over the exact exercises we'll need for HW and exams. Make sure to read the txtbook ch BEFORE class though to understand concepts, if not you'll be lost. Serrato has these ch shells/MC's which are by far the most useful material of any acct proff to study from. Very sweet and nice woman, by far the best choice.
If you want to pass you have to get ready to read and put in the work. Lectures are super fast reviews of the chapters. She expects you to already know the material by the next lecture. Overall a good person just a hard subject. Must memorize all the formulas for tests.
There are prechapter questions you have to answer before the lecture about the chapter. Polling questions almost every lecture that are a grade. Homework is time consuming but not hard and you get 2 attempts and only need 70%. The tutors are very helpful. 3 accounting cycle projects and you get 2 attempts. 3 tests and a final.
I liked Prof. Serrato's class, but I mostly relied on the PowerPoints to help me understand the coursework, I never did problem-shells, but the PowerPoints combined with her going over the same PowerPoints in class helped a lot.
Class is beyond boring and she does not really know how to teach, she just reads off slides all class and no one really fully understands the material. You are expected to know this material by next class along with doing pre chapter assignments that take 30 min to a hour to finish. If this class is not required for you I highly advise not to take.
Accounting overall is a difficult course, she goes over the powerpoints and all the information is posted on the blackboard page. Aslong as you keep up with the due dates, do all your assignments on time and STUDY for exams and I mean STUDY you'll do fine in this class. Her criteria is well outlined with use of mcgraw hill.
Dr. Serrato is an exceptional Professor. Her teaching methods made me minor in Accounting. So this tells you that shes effective. Grading is straight forward total of 423 points and 300 points for 2 midterms, and 1 final. The final will replace 1 low midterm grade or missed exam.
I took her asynchronous class. She does NOT give credit for quizzes + assignments below 70 which really sucks because even if you get a 64, she gives you a zero. She is not communicative, and even after emailing her several times, she would not send me the active zoom link. The quizzes and exams are on Proctorio so they record you while you test.
Dr. Serrato is a nice lady, accounting is just a boring class. Shes not a terrible professor.
ACCT 3377 (actual course)- HW is on Cengage(3-5 Q's)3 exams. What makes it difficult is that during lecture we are working out problems without much context to what we are doing. Cengage HW is not always covered in class, and no tutoring. Her responses to emails aren't really helpful and can be rude. You will mostly be teaching yourself :/
I took Serrato in a hybrid setting (we met 6 times in person during the semester) and the rest on Zoom. If you fall behind in the lectures/textbook, it will swallow you like a wave and move off without you. There are no makeups or excuses for grades as well as her material practically having no help on the exams. If you have the choice avoid her.
She teaches herself while teaching you and she gets questions wrong until students have to speak up and correct her. In her lectures she goes off of problems that she has you try to solve without teaching any material. Pop quiz questions during online lectures, so you must be present.
Very kind professor. Lectures are primarily doing practice problems. A lot of times it feels like you are filing in numbers mindlessly, but she will take the time to answer your questions. Sudden sharp curve in difficulty after Exam 2. Final isn't cumulative but it covers twice the chapters of past exams, w/ lots of equations to memorize.
There are lots of equations you need to memorize for exams in this class. Since the exams are mostly problems, learning the equations will get you good grades. Just like ACCT2301, they give out VERY GENEROUS CURVES on the exams, so just do your best. Her lectures are not too special, but the problem shells help a lot when doing your hw.
She's a great professor but accounting is boring. I had her synchronous online and she did zoom polls for a grade (accuracy & participation).11 Homeworks & Prechapters, 3 Accounting Cycles, 3 exams, and an easy Data Analytics project (copying info). Doesn't post recordings but previous year's lectures are available. Study to pass. Curves exams!
The professor was really nice, except her lectures can be a tad boring. Overall, the class was very straightforward and easy to understand if you read the textbook and do the homework. Class attendance is mandatory for polling points, which really help your grade. Final replaces the lowest exam grade.
I would not recommend taking her. Only goes over exercises in class and most of the time she goes through it and makes mistakes and stumps over problems. Students would have to correct her, if they didn't she wouldn't know there was a mistake. She is a nice and caring professor, but would not take her again.
This class absolutely sucked. I don't think it was the professor I believe it is just the subject. Overall there are 3 accounting cycle assignments, each due before each exam, homework assignment due each week, pre chapter assignment due each week to week and a half, an exam every month, AND a big assignment due at the end of the semester. STUDY!!!
Accounting is hard. I never learned in class because she goes really fast, there is barely time to cover the material but she is posting lecture recordings which was the way of learning the lesson for me. Lots of homework and assignments but the exams are curved. If you try to learn and spare time you will pass. it's HARD
I love her!! She explains all the concepts and problems in detail. It is impossible you wouldn't understand those problem shells after she shows the steps of each example in class. The tests are not hard as long as you go through problem shells in class with her. I would take her again.
Fairly uneventful class. Lectures are dry, but aren't lengthy enough to be considered boring. Course content can be difficult to grasp as it relies heavily on memorization. Dr. Serrato is easy to reach outside of class and responds well to questions in class, so really nothing to complain about.
Test can be difficult as they are on lockdown, HW on cengage with unlimited check my works although the hints aren't that helpful and the HW can get confusing if you don't read. Test will be over concepts and formulas along with math. Showing work grants credit for question even if the answer is wrong. Test aren't cumulative. 3 test and 12 HWs
really harsh on the grading and barely respond to the post class question
ACCT3366* FRAMEWORKS Course relies heavily on test grades so be prepared to study. Everything posted on Canvas is fair game for exam material so I suggest doing the extra practice problems posted to make a better grade than I did. But the material isn't difficult to understand compared to other high level accounting courses.
I took her and ended the class with a B. You need to put in the work if you want to pass but she creates exam reviews that are similar to the exams. The homeworks were a lot and that's the only thing that was time consuming but overall, she is pretty caring and is a good professor.
Dr.Serrato is so sweet, accounting is hard but she gives you everything you need to succeed. if you attend class, and do all of the work you will be fine.
Accounting is always gonna be a little difficult for someone who is not great at math (me). Serrato is an excellent professor and overall the class was good.
Took the class in Spring 2023, 3 exams in lockdown (no webcam), 7 homework and she averaged your lowest grade test with the highest so you get an overall curve for the lowest test score out of the 3. The class itself is easy, so I do not think it matters what professor you take. Everything is online, so you don't need to go to class TBH.
assignments are mostly online. There are two tests and the final one is cumulative, I think that was the most difficult but nothing crazy. she gives BIG curves on exams so you should be okay. she uploads all the lectures on canvas for previous years so attendance isnt really mandatory but she does have some days where she just answers questions
The lectures are posted online which is great but the way that they are structured are a little unorganized, jumps all around the textbook. The power points are hard to follow. Make sure to study all the formulas and pay attention in class. Not a bad professor, talks very clearly and shows care. Just lacks organization.
The tests were tedious to complete considering all our work was to be shown/typed into the text box. Homework is time-consuming but all the materials are posted on Canvas. Just do all the practice problems and look at her exam review cause they are similar to the exams. I took her asynchronously and it was fine just to keep track of deadlines.
constantly messes up during lectures resulting in a lot of back tracking. could not learn form her lectures and she constantly taught against the book material making it confusing. the only way to get through is by teaching yourself and trying to understand the exam review. exams were online on lockdown browser with camera on class times.
I did not find her lectures useful and had to spend most of my time teaching myself the material. How you do on the exam will make or break your grade. Lots of homework. Pretty boring course but I guess that is to be expected with accounting.
Exams are hard but she curves. Attendance quizzes every class. Lots of connect assignments. Canceled class a lot.
She gives a lot of assignments, grading is terrible, doesn't grade fair, puts very high curves on exams, and is a difficult class. I do not recommend taking her class.
Do the work and study, you will get the A. If you don't, then you won't.
I really wish she wasn't the only one teaching this class; the review for the exams are not helpful at all and the exam problems come from the homework and you don't get to see those often. She messes up while lecturing making you more confused.
Worst professor I've ever had. Despite reading the textbook, watching lectures, and acing homework and quizzes easily, I still failed the exams terribly. She doesn't care if you fail. Her lectures are full of mistakes, and her reviews don't resemble the exams. Avoid her class. I usually get A's but had to drop this one to avoid failing.
The material of this class is not hard. However I would avoid taking this class in the summer if you are going to take this professor. Cancelled class a lot, lectures consisted of you rushing to copy her answers, and having to teach yourself outside of class. Prepare to put in time studying, she nice but I am happy to be done with this class!
Summer session: There were 3 exams (100 points each) and 8 homework assignments (68 pts total). It's a test-heavy class with few assignments. I didn't attend live lectures but used notes and PowerPoints to study. She requires showing work on exams, which can be tedious, but she gives points back if she can see your mistakes. I self-taught a lot.
Only take her if you absolutely have to. A lot of people dropped this class b/c nearly everyone was failing. Notes consistently had wrong answers and the study guides don't match the test. You have to teach yourself a lot of the material. I wasn't sure if I passed until the very last second (by a tiny margin btw). Also avoid taking in the summer.
I've never had a teacher in my life that is so unclear teaching like Dr.serrato. She expects you to know everything already being covered in class. She also teaches at a very fast pace no one is able to get what she is teaching written down it's truly ridiculous. I wouldn't not recommend taking her unless it is your only option.
Her voice makes you fall asleep. She will make you do polling questions for attendance and her class is easy if you study the textbook and practice.
. While I personally loved and exceled this course, I do understand why others might have trouble with it, but that was because of the amount of formulas/concepts you need to know for the exams. In my case, I found the teacher very helpful and I liked how well this class progressed. She also did several reviews right before the exam.
I love her she is so nice and sweet and very understanding. The material is hard, especially at the end of the semester, but she was great.
I think everyone can agree ACCT isn't easy. She makes it clear what to study to pass. The only bad thing abt her I would say is that she uses a power point too much. She makes up for it with examples that reflect the homework. She very transparent. Also, be ready to be challenged because this class is hard.Youll know if this is for you right away
Serrato is a professor who cares about accounting and her lectures make it obvious. She posts notes over every unit on canvas, which was a tremendously helpful resources. Assignments can be a bit much at times, but nothing that can't be managed. She uses polling questions for attendance and tests are curved.
I've never had a teacher put so little effort into teaching. If you want to learn, YouTube will help more than she did. Practice tests are nothing like the actual ones. One grace is that she does so poorly at teaching the curves for tests are great. The course is straightforward, but her lack of effort made it much harder than it needed to be.
Don't be fooled by reviews saying the class was easy, it's because this class used to be primarily taught online. Balance this class properly and do all problem shells as they resemble the test; do not rely on the exam review problem shells. Exam 3 had significantly more material than Exam 1 & 2 so study the most for it.
Avoid this class. Exams are in person, and you must memorize and write down formulas to get full credit, even with correct answers. No clear review guidance or multiple-choice prep. No extra credit. Grade depends on 3 tough exams. Poor support; you're on your own. Not worth the time or money.
This is one of those classes that you can't let get behind you. With the class format being in-person, it is a lot harder than it was previously, and you have to prepare yourself to memorize many different formulas. Tests are 40% conceptual and 60% practical. Study everything, including each chapter problem shells and the conceptual resources given
exams are the worst, she gave us a whole 1 hr 30 min less than what the syllabus said. if you are not a fast writer and taking it online don't take her! you have to answer exam questions and write everything down also show your work on a sheet of paper takes a lot of time. the class it's self is not hard but learning with her it very much is.
The class itself is pretty difficult. 3 exams and 8 hwk. So exam heavy 🫩She definitely cares about her students but the method of teaching just didn't work for me. I felt like the exams and more so the class was more about how many formulas can you memorize rather than actually digesting and learning the concepts of the materials and the “why”.
Would not upload all videos online, and reviews were far off the actual exam at some point! I found it better to just rely on the textbook as my learning method.
Took this class over the summer and it was not awful. Professor requires you to write formulas on exams for full credit, even if you get the answer correct without it. Professor is caring, sometimes inputs different numbers on notes so pay close attention. Prioritize studying ALL materials for tests. Got low B on first test and still got an A.
Never, ever heavily rely on her test review before exam. It was nothing alike at all. At this point, just stick to the ebook and practicing problems on it.
Honestly, if you took her class in-person, you're cooked. If you took online, you're extra cooked.
She respected all students' opinions and encouraged them to. But her lectures were heavy and boring, and attendance is mandatory. She gave students tons of study materials, so I don't get it why people be complaining because it was clear that we need study materials to STUDY. **UPDATE: Now I know why ppl be complaining, do NOT take her class.
Just reads from the powerpoint, reviews aren't like the tests, quizzes every class, nice lady though she does care.
Would not recommend her at all!! She doesn't teach and only reads off the powerpoint slides. Her voice is annoying and pierces your ears. 2 test and a final, all 30 questions with about 75mins to complete them. You also have to buy access to McGraw Hill and Aleks
Serrato's the sweetest professor. She's always willing to help if you ask, especially since her lectures can move quickly. There are three tests, two with 25 mCQ and 5 SRQ, and a final with 30 MCQ and 10 SRQ. Each chapter has homework, but it's pretty easy if you keep up. There are also short attendance quizzes every lecture.
Decent amount of HW. Review format different from test format. HORRIBLE lecturer. No accent, but lectures under assumption that you already know everything, so she doesn't explain anything. Hits main points & moves on. MUST read textbook to understand concepts b/c she WON'T teach you. Does NOT budge on/make exceptions for anything in syllabus.
READS off PP. talks too fast. homework and review nothing like the exams. stressful class does not help student at all.
Pp are very messy. if anyone not even herself understands her powerpoints. Tried using them to study they were unorganized messy and tough to study from. exams are tough look nothing like the things she teaches in class
Difficult class but IT IS DO-ABLE, you just NEED to put much time into it individually. Serrato covers too many details in class going strictly off slides. IMO just too confusing, when exams cover only key takeaways of each chapter. MAKE SURE to review old HW's, Smartbooks, and Review Questions for Exams. Tutoring and notetaking helped me get an A.
no clear way to understand her teaching a lot information she stares at the screen for full class time doing her own thing does not interact no creativity in her approach not sure what or how I am to study at end loads up canvas with study guides 1 day before final. messy messy power points sloppy journal entry made on micro soft word
She was a very sweet Professer, however she didn't teach to clarify. She more so just explained to us what she was doing on slides but not why. Exams are difficult because the reviews given don't match the test, and I would study the concepts thoroughly but the test would be almost nothing as the reviews she gave us. Better off with some one else.
Reads off a powerpoint all semester, better off teaching yourself.DOES NOT UNLOCK GRADES UNTIL FINAL EXAM IS GRADED, so you don't even know what your grade is unless you calculate it yourself based on every single assignment. lectures are briefly covered but doesn't explain why or how. practice reviews are not like exams. no extra credit provided.
Professor is horrible and does not teach. She just reads off PowerPoint and expects you to already know what she is talking about. Exams are worth so much and reviews are nothing like the tests. She also doesn't open grades till after the final, so you have no idea what your grade is to the very end. Only plus is she curves exams pretty heavily
she's fine, but her reviews aren't anything like the exams so you're on your own. she's a very sweet lady though.
Dr. Serrato is a very sweet woman and is open to answering questions and helping you out. Her issue is her lecture style, reading strictly off of powerpoint slides in a boring voice. You WON'T learn in class. 3 tests including final (all curved), lots of HW, no extra credit. Reviews are nothing like the tests, so you have to teach yourself.
Terrible proffesor doesn't explain at all barely teaches long lectures just telling you the answer while you follow along and expects you to understand doesn't even solve questions herself and explain them just gets answers from her answer sheet and inserts it onto questions. Told us lowest graded final would be dropped but didn't drop it.
Dr. Serrato is quite caring and is always willing to answer any questions you have about the course and material. The lectures are face paced with lots of materials so be sure to stay on top of things. There are attendance quizzes and no extra credit is given.
Her tests are 75% of your average grade and are extremely difficult. She lets you drop one of the 2 tests you take and replaces it with the score you get on your final (if your test scores are good u can opt out the final). Mandatory lectures (she gives a code to do a quiz each lecture for participation on mcgraw hill)
