His class is one you have to be prepared for he won't just hand you an A. But he does the best he can to make sure you pass by giving lots of extra credit oppurtunitues . This is not your typical bio class his teaching style is to sort of make you feel comfortable by trying to make his class feel as laid back as possible.

The only thing I did not like about this class was that we meet once a week and I was not aware of that at the time I was signed up for his class. Other than that, its been great. He goes over everything with us in class, practices with us before tests and is a overall good teacher.

Dr. Barnes has been extremely helpful and educational to my learning. As a returning student, much information has been forgotten. Through this class and his teaching, Biology has become one of my favorite subjects.

One of the best teachers in both lecture and bio lab. He is comedic and goes in great detail in each chapter. Each test he gives almost a letter grade in terms of extra credit(rare times, up to +15 points in extra credit). Depending on the chapter, he'll allow you to use a small index card to use while taking the test, at least in his lectures.

His lab exams, specifically the human skeletal bones and muscles are a bit more difficult. You are expected to identify and spell them correctly. He has YT videos & easy HW, extra credit. Wonderful teacher, I had to retake the class and my grades have been so much better under Dr. Barnes. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, helps relate things in the book to things in real life, and prepares you very well for student learning observation test. I definitely recommend his class.

Absolutely a wonderful man and teacher, he will always give you a chance for extra credit, and he is very fair if he is wrong on the test (only happened once but he gave me and the rest of the class points for the error I caught). He is so awesome. Sticks to the book and gives exciting lectures. Work for your grade.

Dr. Barnes taught A&P 1&2 to me. I was fresh out of high school and absolutely terrified of college classes. Barnes was welcoming and gave clear directions for what to study. As long as you are engaged in class and actively study outside of class, you will make an A. He is a real gem, I wish I could take more classes from him. :)

Going through grade school you have very few teachers that make an impression on who you are and who you want to become. Dr. Barnes is one of those few. He is encouraging and compassionate and full of life. The best teacher I have ever had a chance to learn from.

Wonderful teacher, by far one of my favorites ever. Lays out final exam throughout the class, plenty of extra credit options, works with you on grading, and is very understanding of outside of class issues. I would definitely recommend Dr B to anyone needing to take this type of course.

Dr. Barnes is very Pro Student!! He wants you to pass. He offers several different ways to help you learn material. Text book is your best friend. The nature walks were very informative and enjoyable.

Extra Credit opportunities are fun! We had a lot of awesome in lab activities as well. You will be highlighting half of the book and reading a lot, however Dr. Barnes is an awesome teacher who genuinely cares about his students and their futures

Had Dr. Barnes for Summer A&P Lab and Lecture. Great teacher! He really cares about the students and has desire for you to pass class. Gives lots of extra credit! There is a lot of highlighting in class and it's mostly teach yourself at home, but what we highlight in class is usually on tests. Tests are very well worded, not confusing.

Dr. Barnes is a great Professor! His class is very interesting. Be prepared to do a lot of highlighting!!!! Study the charts, definitions, and main points (functions,parts, etc) and you will pass his tests. The answer choices are worded very tricky on his tests, so beware! He gives a TON of extra credit for each test!! Dont take that for granted!!

I am taking Dr. Barnes for A&P 2 LAB 2521 Winter Intersession 2020, and he is by far one of the most relatable and caring instructors I've had! Even though the class lasts only 4 weeks, you will learn so much! I definitely would recommend him to anyone looking to take this class!

His YouTube videos were very helpful and informative! He is also a continous student so he is understanding.

The winter intersession A&P II class was a really relaxed and not stressful!

Professor Barnes gives a study guide for each test and goes over the material during the classes. Leaving you with the material to study for the tests. He also answers questions to help get a better understanding.
