Makes answering student questions a priority. Takes time to answer questions about tests, lab book, workbook, textbook. Makes you feel comfortable asking questions when you don't understand something the first time.

Great prep for final. Went out of his way to ask for and answer all student questions. Went through every chapter pointing out specific exercises to prep us. Told us what not to study for. Very valuable time with him.

Brings video, CDs, lab book, workbook along with textbook to make for a total sensory experience. No boring lectures. Lots of variety and personal insight from all the countries he's been to. Cares about keeping our interest every class.

If you take prof. Crasto's class you'll really be prepared for 2nd year Spanish at another institution like Sam Houston. Some community college profs dumb down the material but not Crasto.

Like you really learn spanish in this class, unlike high school spanish which is just a joke. He gives us websites for looking up words or prepping for tests. You can really tell spanish is a pasion for this guy.

El Profesor makes class interesting, relevant and informative. He gives web links, library resources and covers supplemental material in class. Answering students' questions is a priority for him. When I miss class I miss out on very valuable teaching.

His website is great, has the syllabus, speaking part on tests, dates. Gives web resources in class for the textbook and the real spanish academy of language or something like that so we can check n see how verbs are conjugated correctly.

I would definitely recommend this professor to all students who want to learn Spanish. He's great and teaches you using all possible teaching styles. Professor Crasto is a great instructor who puts his students first.

Darren is great with students, flexible, answers all questions thoroughly, knows the subject in depth, prepares and involves us in the class. He is willing to work with us when we need extra help and uses videos to make it more interesting.

Great guy. Everybody talks, writes and reads in Spanish. Tech savy; uses internet, ppt, etc for class presentations. Drops lowest test and lowest home work grade. gets tests back graded the next class. answers email questions quick. Never misses a class and is always prepared. Take his class.

i needed spanish and wanted to do the holiday minisemester and was surprised how great HCC is cause i didnt think junior college instructors knew much of anything but i was really happy with crasto and how the class went and it was pretty easy and all in spanish so i really feel i really learned.

I sat 36 hrs trying to leave for hurricane Rita, he gave an exam the same day we came back and acted like he didn't care - I lost my grandmother. If you want to pass with an A or B then don't take him. If you don't care about GPA then take him, you may get a C. I studied hard!! Only 3 people left now out of 18. Do the math!!!

i am a native spanish speaker and i can say that this guy is a complete IDIOT. puts emphasis on unimportant details rather then the main idea. very strict on his rules which dont make much sense to begin with, and he always brags about his experience on how "he tought little kids in guatemala how to speak spanish" i strongly suggest ana hnat at T&C

This is my 2nd semester of spanish. I had somebody else for the first one and didn't get much out of it. Crasto explains everything wery well and will take time to answer any question. Hes patient and gives lots of examples. If you never had spanish before i highly recommend him because he doesnt assume you already know stuff and explains well.

i had some hs spansish before then took french in college but it was too much work so i went back to college spanish cause i had to take a language class but i didnt want to do alot of work. this was a good fun class. for homework all you gotta do was fill in the workbook. what we did in class was pretty easy; unlike french; you'll like it

i wanted to take an easy junior college class and this was. we did the lab stuff in class so we didnt have to go anywhere else. the class was focused and went pretty fast. the only work i had to do outside of class was to read the stories in the story book. the prof was fair, answered questions, explained things. i highly recommend this class.

If you didnt grow up like speaking spanish, take this guy. He is clear an keeps going over stuff until you got it. Ask a question an he answers it totally. Like all you have to do is go to class an do what is goin on and youll get it and pass the class. Get the books cause you use em every day so its not like a waste of mony. Totally worth it.

I appreciated the time he took into his ppt presentations. He's not VERY helpful, but he isn't strict on rules. He gives you plenty of time to do the assignments and drops the lowest test grade. The story quizzes are easy. Test outline is on the learning web and the speaking part is a breeze. Be prepared and you'll do fine.

Be prepared to do a lot of writing in this class. Quizzes are easy. Use the learning web and Webct to help you out with assingments. You only need 1 book and it's not expensive. He goes over the stories a bit, but you must do the reading yourself to really understand them. I still have no idea what some of them were about. Tests are vocab & essay.

I was in his hybrid class & we only met once a week. He explained everything the first tiem then on test day he went over everything for like an hour. Posted everything on the web so if you didnt go to class you could still get everything. I had spanish in high school so this was very easy. After you seen one test you know what to expect on all.

All you gotta do is take the online quizzes over and over til you make a 100 and fill in all the blanks in the exercise book to get bonus points for every test and the final. He drops youre lowest test grade and dosnt go nuts if youre late or miss class. Nice guy trys to help all you gotta do is do all the work and try.

Mr castro staid after class every day to answer questinos and his online stuff was realy helpful. I had to study but not to much. He would answer your questions in english; i had another proff who only answered if you asked questions in spanish but, like, if your lost how can you ask the question in spanish?

He's a nice & easy teacher, but he rambles A LOT. He will tell you how to pronounce one word a million diff ways, which is annoying and confusing. You have to do all of the workbook/lab manual stuff too. I think you'd only like this class if you were genuinely interested in learning Spanish, which I definitely am not.. I hated this class...

hes the kindist and most pacient profesor ive had. he stay after class every time to anser questions. he doesnt get mad if you miss a few classes and you dont have to bring in excuses if your child is sick and you cant make it to class some day. i like he very mych.

if you have poor knowledge of spanish prior this class, dont chose this guy! u will have no time to even understand what hes talking ab before u get ur test! and he doesnt take the time to explain, he only says u learn outside the class.

Professor Crasto makes the environment very comfortable 2 lrn. Goes over tngs that r goin 2 be on test quite well tho some things may pop up. Plus if u do online work u get an extra 12 points to ur final grade! so u can go from c to b easily. No he's not going to run bhind u, we r adults! will take him for all my span classes

Short answer? Take this guys class. Slightly longer answer? Do the online work and ask questions in class. He takes time to answer your questions. Class doesn't run on forver because you dont get a grade for coming to class. Bring your laptop and do the online work during class and he'll help you with the online work. No surprises on test.

ok like all you hed to do was reed the sylabus and do the online stuff and the test was the same stuff so i got a a in the class and im so glad i took this class cause we didnt have to go on friday but we just did online stuff on fridays so i could go out of town on weekends wish alll my classes didnt have friday

Soooo...test were on one day and the next class eveeybody got there tests back. Thats freakin awesome. Lotsa teachers take 1 or 2 weeks to get our tests back. Go on test day and the next and youll know all you need

online class: simple, straightforward syllabus. you do the work on your own and if you need help, ask and hell answer you pretty quick. book website is where you do all the work. no wasted time, just the work.

Crasto was the easiest professor I've had. I had him at 8am and still made an A with little effort. He's pretty funny and makes the grammar stuff more interesting than it would have been. All you have to do is turn in the workbook pages by the end of semester and he'll give you full credit. Tests were easy, the instructions were online beforehand.

Castro's online class is "do it yourself" work as fast as you can just use the book watch the vidoes figure it out then go on to the next thing. you don't have to wait for everybody else in the class to do their work or post stupid group discussion questions you just go at your own pace. oh yeah you gotta go a couple times to take tests at campus

just finished spanish 2 online and it was just like the syllabus said, you do the online work quick as you can, record stuff, watch videos, take quizzes, and your done. it was a lotta work but i alwasy knew exactly what i was supposed to do and i could see all my grades on the website and if i got something wrong he would tell me

Absolutely awful professor. He's rude, condescending, and most of what you learn is self-taught. I took his only on-campus class for an eight week course and although I made an A, I regret doing it. Every time you ask a question, he talks down to you or tells you to "Google it" after repeatedly saying not to ever use Google. Discourages eye contact

You basically have to do every assignment and activity in the book which comes to just over 600 assignments! No help from professor, suggests you use google and that if you wanted more help that you shouldn't have taken an online course. Very difficult if you struggle learning a new language. This professor does NOT teach you anything. Frustrating.

Class went by REALLY fast! You have to learn to pace yourself and get ALL 702 of your assignments and ALL 12 chapter test as well! I tried my best to keep up, but scored GREAT on the activities I could complete. In order to learn that much material in a beginner's class, it should be a full course. A very interesting, useful, informational class

It was a tough class, but if you are self sufficient, you should be fine. Do not let these other reviews scare you of professor Crasto. When I needed help because I was confused, I emailed him not expecting a response, he answered me back very quickly and gave me great advice. Do not expect him to hold your hand through this course use your brain.

I do not regret taking online. However, this professor was RUDE & very condescending to me. Not hard, but expect to spend A LOT of time, unless you already speak spanish or just finished the 1st half-over 700 assignments! Most work/tests are not difficult, but beware of 2 timed finals due 1 wk early. Be prepared; they are confusing Essay Questions.

If Spanish isn' your first language , then it will be difficult, but if you work for it, you can do it. Finals are usually in person but this time it was online due to the pandemic, but even then, you cant find the answers online cause the paper is unique. There is too much homework like 100 activities per chapter, so dont do things last minute.

Wouldn't take again

This professor is so rude and discouraging. Every email is negative, never encouraging. I took this class online. Its an extremely hard class and his attitude doesnt help. Yes I got an A but no thanks to him. Expect to 100% teach yourself and motivate yourself for this class. He does give extra cred and grade fast but hes still not worth taking.

All lessons are on VHL. Work is simple if you pay attention to the lessons and take notes or already know Spanish. Gives good feedback when answering paragraphs or listening to audio recordings. I would take him again if I needed too. Due dates are reasonable, so don't be worried to much by the "assignment" count. Attend lectures if you need help!

This is a very rare individual. My brother was in a different course he learned but I am going to a next level course and see that there are so many things others have been doing in Campus and I am not. Even online. As a person in this field I prefer to just go away from him. I am a teacher in Galena Park now, respect should be shown and attendance

Very weird dude. He would speak the whole 2hrs the class lasted. I already know spanish, so I didn't need it, but I assume that if a student has a question he is good to answer. He gives A LOT of homework to do, but I imagine it helps to practice. He likes to make jokes and likes to talk about different countries.
