Darrin is a very great prof. He is always available for help. Accounting is hard on its own so it really does matter the kind of teacher you get - Especially for Accounting 217. I would definitely recommend him to my peers. He will never just give you the answers or solve your problems, but he takes the time to make sure you really get it.

Darrin really does his best to make accounting enjoyable. The course is tough and it takes a lot of work, but he puts the time in to make sure that his students understand the material. The best part about him is that he's approachable, he will make time for this students and walk them through any issues they are having. I would highly recommend.

Darrin, is very helpful and even though this was his first time teaching he was clear, and made the class more enjoyable. I would recommend taking ACCT 217 with him, if you want accounting to be fun.

Really amazing prof! Kind of a bad person. He favours certain students and and is subtlety rude when he's "joking". Still this doesn't interfer with his instruction which is excellent.

Darrin makes class fun cause hes actually young, which was really surprising to a lot of ppl. REALLY DRY ACCOUNTING TOPICS but he makes it fun by telling stories about the things he has been through as an accountant for however many companies he has worked for before. He is always willing to explain things to you. QUIZ'S AND FINAL WERE HARD AF

This was Darrin's first year teaching this course and if I may say he is possibly one of the best profs I've had from any faculty so far. He is a very nice guy who is willing to help you, don't be afraid to ask. The course can be tough, but Darrin makes it interesting and as comprehensible as possible.

Darrin is the most helpful professorinstructor I have come across at U of C. He will go out of the way to make time to explain concepts to students. Make sure he knows who you are because it will help to ensure you get a better grade and pass; he knows who cares and who doesn't and marks accordingly. Nice, funny and personable guy.

Accounting is a tough class to begin with but Darrin is the most helpful prof i've come across. He takes time to make sure students can do the best possible on tests & in the course in general. If you have to take accounting take it with him!!!

He's a new prof, so it seems like he is trying extra hard to prove himself. His class is workload heavy (2 indiv. assign, 1 group, 4 quizzes, mandatory tutorials, a midterm & a final). The first assignment is fairly easy, but long, with lots of errors in the assign. doc. that he said he would fix, but has not done yet. He is helpful 1-on-1 though.

He is the living example of the 100 emoji. I'm registered in his class and have to come to class 30 minutes early in order to get a seat. People from other classes come to sit in his lectures. That must say something about his teaching. He is a hilarious prof that likes to joke around and incorporate relatable examples.

Best prof in Haskayne, hands down. I wasn't even in his lecture and still went to his classes because he was that much better than my prof. It's a tough class, with lots of work required, but he does a great job of making it enjoyable and easy to learn.

Accounting is tough, but Darrin gives so much time to help out students understand the content. One of the best professors at Haskayne! He is extremely helpful and very easy to talk to, would recommend taking this course with him. Quizzes and exams are fair.

Darrin is very friendly and makes the lectures fun and the material easy. The group projects are ridiculously easy. The quizzes require some preparation. Tests are a bit challenging. Overall, the course is not even half intimidating if you take it with Darrin. All the kids from the other lectures ended up in my class. Darrin also writes the tests.

Hands down the biggest bro of any prof. you will ever find at Haskayne, hell, the whole of U of C. 341 was a tough class but there were no curveballs that he threw during exams/quizzes, and the assignments were reasonable. Super helpful during office hours.

This was a second try at 341 after I dropped last year. I was terrified, but Darrin reassured me and inspired me to aim high. He's the friendliest prof ever and also one of the best. He often isn't timely and breaks promises, but he makes up for it in how he cares about us. I couldn't have done this without him and his kindness and patience.

I was originally in Professor Hyun's class but switched after the first two weeks. Professor Ambrose saved my semester. Always made time to answer questions, even though I wasn't in his class. 5's across the board. Ps- the class is tough, so get ready to work

By far one of the most supportive profs I've ever had in all of UofC. ACCT217 can get pretty tough and you MUST do plenty of practice questions, but his slides provide clear, step-by-step instructions on how to them. He even stayed on campus and answered questions until past 11pm before the midterm for us. Can't get any better than Darrin!

Accounting is hard but if you ask Darrin for help, he will give it to you. 341 was a lot of work but if you put the effort in, you will see the results. Midterm and final are long but there were no surprises. The one thing Darrin is bad for is not returning things on time and not uploading onto D2L.

He is helpful on email, responds fairly quickly, & explains concepts very well. I have mixed opinions on him mostly b/c he was super helpful sometimes & extremely rude at others. Exams have ques structures that are foreign, only seen before on the practice exams, so he needs to go over those more. Also needs to use harder examples in class.

Darin is easily one of my all time favourite profs. He somehow kept a what should be boring class, interesting with his anecdotes. He is very clear on how to do things and is super helpful if you don't get something. Fair warning though, acct isn't easy, he just makes it suck a lot less. Also he is a huge BigBrother fan which is awesome!

An amazing professor in the whole Accounting Department. I don't like comparing specific professors to other professors, but this guy is exceptional at teaching. Has examples, that are well explained, step-by-step processes. He goes down to the basics unlike the other professors, who just use excel and have you buy notes, and assume you are a pro.

Darrin is super really good, he is always there to help. The only cons for him is that he constantly having to make adjustments to his power point which is quite annoying if you do notes on the power point...

Darrin Is the best teacher I've ever had, his lectures are interesting, understandable and very informative. Just know that not everything from the textbook is included in his slides but is often in the MC of his exams so read the textbook too !!

Darrin is cool, really nice, and a very approachable professor. His voice is soothing like Morgan Freeman and his physique comparable to Ryan Gosling. His lectures aren't boring and are posted in case you can't make a class. 10/10 soulmate. He is seriously a great professor who gives you the information you need to know to get through accounting.

Darrin has a great sense of humour and is very enthusiastic about accounting, which makes it so much easier to learn. Our class had the highest average for written responses on exams because we got extra walk through examples to do in class. I'm going to major in accounting because of this class!!

Amazing prof! Highly recommend Darrin to anybody, accounting major or not! He's funny and keeps the class entertained even when the topic isn't so hot. He's very approachable and GREAT at explaining concepts. He prioritizes his students will stay till 12 at night before the midterm is needed. Not to mention he's not hard on the eyes!

I recently switched into business and am in my fourth year of classes at this university. In my four years Prof Ambrose is hands down the best professor I have ever had. Take a class with him, work on a case with him, heck just stop by and say hi, he treats you like a human, asks how you are doing and actually waits for a response. 100% recommend.

A really great prof, cares about students and is willing to help during and outside of class. Don't make a habit of skipping classes as he has ppt errors that he corrects in class. Tests are not easy but if you study his slides and the assignments then you should be fine.

Accounting for three hour classes during the summer 0/10 Accounting for three hour classes during the summer with Ambrose 10/10 Prof Ambrose made this bearable and cares about his students. Final exam is hard, make sure you do all the worksheets!!

One of the best professors I have ever had. If you have to take ACCT 217, try to take it with Ambrose. He makes boring material entertaining. He prepares you for the Long Answer portion of exams amazingly well, however make sure you read the textbook for MC questions, as much of them are not covered in class. Great Prof!

Walked into my 8am final and Professor Ambrose had bought pop-tarts and juice boxes for everyone. When I asked why, he said "studies show that you will score higher on an exam if you have food in your stomach" Aside from being an amazing professor, he truly cares about his students and wants them to do well. You couldn't ask for a better prof.

Without a hint of exaggeration, Darrin is definitely the best professor I've ever had. He is caring, smart and really wants to see his students succeed. But remember, this class is really tough so get ready to study a lot and work hard. Oh and pray that you get a good group.

I walked into this class afraid of accounting based on the horror stories I had heard. Not only did darrin make the class enjoyable, but he made learning fun. He took away any fears I had and turned them into confidence. He called us accounting warriors and I walked out of his class with an "A". He is exactly what this university needs more of.

Darrin was a really good prof! You have to go to lectures to understand the concepts because Accounting is not easy to learn on your own. Darrin makes the class very fun and engaging. He will give out a practice question to do at the beginning of almost every class, which looks very similar to questions on the exams.

I struggled with this course (numbers and my brain are enemies) Professor Ambrose sat down with me once a week and explained al the things I didn't get. My high school teachers didn't even do that. The only reason I got through this course was because he cares so much.

Darrin's the reason I became interested in accounting, and here I am switching my major now because of it. He is such an amazing professor. Really cares for his students, willing to do anything it takes to help you out. Replies to emails within minutes, and always wanting the best for his students. If only every professor was more like him.

I've never met a prof who cares more about his students succeeding. He stayed late on his birthday to help me understand bonds and didn't leave until I finally got it, or make me feel rushed. I couldn't name one other person who would do that.

This class was at a brutal time (5pm) but the class is still packed. Best part of the class is that he does all sorts of activities to teach the material. Worst part of the class is that he tells his dad jokes. Great prof, great guy, great class.

I took 217 and 323 with Darrin and I have 341 with him in Winter! Great prof, super easy to talk to and explains things really well. If you're gonna take a hard acct course take it with him. He does a lot of worksheets in class to make sure everyone understands the concepts! Super great guy!! :)

Despite 341 being absolutely brutal, he was very approachable and respectful of students. The quizzes and some of the assignments were graded very harshly and the course is very intensive. However, he is very honest when there are mistakes or confusions surrounding assignments and will extend deadlines for the entire class.

Great guy who really s wants to see his students succeed. I thoroughly enjoyed this class!

Honestly Darrin is one of my favourite professors but he is not a suitable professor for Acct 341. Hes a 5/5 for 217 and 323 but i think he still needs more practice for 341. Otherwise, he's a very approachable person and genuinely wants you to succeed

Second time taking 323 and just two weeks in, let me tell you, it is night and day between Darren and Anita. Would rate Darren a 10/5 if I could with the additional points coming bc he hates the Patriots!!

This class has been awesome so far! Take this with him if you can, despite the lame jokes, hes actually really great at explaining the concepts. 323 was was better than 217 and I even found myself enjoying it at times.

Loads of work, but we did all sorts of awesome things this semester (great guest speakers, firm presentations, networking opportunities, data analytics, real world accounting issues). Now that the class is done, I actually loved this class and loved Professor Ambrose for all he put into it.

Hands down the best prof for 341. Very tough course but if you pay attention & write what he says down that'll put you from a B level to an A. Study for the midterm/final at least a couple weeks in advanced. Go to his office hours when you need help & you won't regret it. Make sure to do all end of chapter questions. If you can take 323 with him, do it. He's great at explaining concepts and made a tough class clearer. The lectures are great and decently entertaining, he genuinely cares about his students and wants to help them do well so he's great with answering questions/providing extra help. But I wasn't a fan of the quizzes (4 quizzes, each quiz worth 6%).

We did so many fun little games that half the time I didnt even realize I was learning. Love this guy, loved this class.

He is such a great teacher, he is a teacher that if you pay attention in class you'll actually enjoy learning accounting. Really chill dude, it's almost like another peer teaching you Accounting. If i could have Darrin for all my courses I would.

(For course ACCT2400 but not listed above) Darrin is a great prof and truly cares about your success. He is a bit fast sometimes, but is always willing to answer questions. He is quick to respond to emails and is very thorough. No question is a stupid question in his class, which makes for a very comfortable experience.
