HARD, HARD, and HARD. He is not the teacher for you if you need anything explained. If you have a problem, it's not his problem. (as he says) He is slow out of the gate and never really gets going. Maybe he will get better over time, can only hope! Unless math is totally your game, find a better teacher, they are out there.

I enjoyed calculus until i took his class and hated him and his teaching methods. he's rude and very impatient, especially while students are testing. He types as loudly as possible on his computer and sighs heavily every few minutes to let us know he's waiting. Rambles, Doesn't like questions, answers questions like you're an idiot.

He is a total jerk to everyone and should be fired. I just checked my grades and found he dropped me from the class. He never mentioned it to me as I showed up everyday and passed practically every test. Should not be teaching and needs to get a life. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER as your doomed to fail!!!!

Don't take him, he's a mean man not understanding at all and likes to make you feel like your not smart. I have a great GPA and have never had problems with instructors in the past. I'm at school to learn no because I know everything already, so if you know everything already then he's the one to take!

This guy is the most horrible teacher I have ever had. I don't even know why he chose to teach as a profession. He doesn't seem to like it or care about his students at all. He's not helpful at all, and he's not fair when it comes to grading.

I would not advise anyone to take this class who doesnt like reading textbooks because that is what you will have to do on your own to learn the subject. All he does is remember what is in the book and write it on the board. You could just read the book if you really want to learn the subject.

Had to retake math because his style was just so difficult. Always late. He didn't seem to want to teach to those who didn't get it. He assumed everyone knew all formulas etc! Don't take this teacher if you need help. He clearly tells you he is not available.

Easily the worst math teacher I've ever had. I'm hope you're really into reading, because the only way you're gonna be able to do well in his class is by pouring over the book. It will literally take you a month to get back your tests after you take them. Avoid him at all cost. The lectures won't help you and he will stop taking roll.

He's pretty garbage as a teacher, his class is easily passed though. as long as you can do the work. after about 3 weeks he gives up on home work and eventually gives up on role so you dont have to show up. there's supposed to be a quiz every week but there was only three the whole time and then the final. just have to study on your own.

He's not a helpful teacher at all. He talks way too much and he doesn't listen to his students while they need help. His discussions are irrelevant to math and honestly no one cares about it. He doesnt make up his mind when it comes to test. We've only have 1 test and the semester is about to end. He expects too much. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He's horrible

He is interesting, but will tend to get off topic during class. He explains things well, but the tests are entirely different from what he teaches. He also is a strict grader. I would not recommend taking him unless you already know everything there is to know about trigonometry.

Definitely the worst teacher I have ever had and that's saying something having over 100 credits at the college. I was in the hospital for two weeks and he never checked his email, just dropped me from the cause. He expects students to be going into harder math classes but is too dense to realize this is the last math class some students need.

Don't take this professor for calculus unless your major is something which requires you to go up to even more upper division math or involves physics since that's what he criteria's his course to. If you only need to go up to calculus 2 I'd definitely recommend an easier professor, his course is hard and unforgiving.

Worst professor I've had at Solano in my three years here. His grading is ridiculous and his attitude is worse. Very condescending and unhelpful. There are many more professors that you can take, I strongly suggest you choose someone else.

This professor is extremely rude. I understand that teaching can be difficult but a professor has no right to be flat out rude if your coming to him for help. I asked him if it was possible for him to help me he said " If you do not know what your doing you might as well just drop my class" He has no respect for his students. Do not take him.

Talks a lot about things that are not related to the class but don't have time to ask if anyone has questions. He likes to hear himself talk and makes his students feel stupid. Give quiz about things he never covered and he is a hard grader. The content of the class is not that hard but he makes it complicated. I wouldn't recommend him

This professor is very smart, but he is very particular in how he wants things done in his class, and how he wants you to answer questions to problems. Do not come late to class, he considers a late an absence (even for 2 min). He moves through material very quickly so be ready all the time, he does not like to stop and answer questions!!!

Professor Allen is hands down the worst professor Ive had at solano. The guy just does not care about his students and whether or not they understand the material. He rushes through his "lectures" and when asked a question he doesnt answer it. His test are super long and hard. He wants the homework done on 11 1/2 by 8 inch paper

The absolute worst teacher I have ever taken. Marks you absent for being even a minute late, but consistently shows up to class up to 15 minutes late himself. Toughest grader I've had yet. Showed my High School Calculus teacher his grading on my exam and he was in shock. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, even if you have prior Calculus experience.

This class was horrible. The professor is a very tough grader, and he'll mark you ABSENT if you show up a minute late. He'll then proceed to tell you that he can get FIRED if he doesn't mark you absent, because he'll be breaking the rules. Lectures are all over the place and you never know what yo expect on a test.

Hes a tough grader and a tough person. His lectures often are filled with personal rants and he crams a lot of chapters into short amounts of time. He isnt flexible with students and deducts points for all mistakes, no matter how small. The class is solely based on test grades although there was supposed to be a weekly quiz that never happened.

Does he know Calculus? Yes. Is he a good teacher? NO, and I cannot stress how big of big of a NO that is. Rushed lectures, very little opportunities to participate in class examples unless he wants you to calculate something for him with a calculator, and overall, just rude. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. FIND ANYONE ELSE.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He only gave my class 2 of the 4 exams we should have taken and I was never informed what my grade in class or final. He did not finish the chapters needed for the exam. He took calculators away from students during final even if they were allowed during exams. He spends most of the time talking about random topics.

Do NOT take this class. If you miss 2 classes, he drops you from the class on the third. If your a minute late it counts as an absence. His grading is ridiculous, and he constantly derails lectures by talking about him and disses other teachers. Homework is optional. He will tell random stories to fill up time, so he won't let you out early.

Well this teacher doesn't give people a chance to study for the quiz in class cause man he is such in a hurry and plus his lectures are too rushed and as I heard from a few friends from High SCHOOL he has a terrible attitude with some students in his other classes too. Also this guy just tells us some random stories that isn't math related.

overall he's just a teacher that is not really kind and not friendly at all and always late whenever we have class on those days which some people can get fired for. Anyways he will only get fired for not showing up on time and how he acts towards his students in class and man I just hope I pass with a c or better for this class.

Warning this professor is too fast on lectures and is not polite to other students who are trying to learn more about the material and yeah he tells us pointless information that doesn't help us at all. The students in his class who support him are brainwashed and crazy. I suggest you get a study group and study with a parent that is smart enough.

The HARDEST class I have ever taken while being at Solano for almost 4 years. The teacher is rude and doesn't show any care for his students. I personally was having an asthma attack while taking a quiz and he did NOT care. His grading is SUPER strict. He talks more about himself than the math itself. I rather study on my own for this class with a classmate or a parent at home cause his lectures doesn't give out enough information to learn how to do the math problem plus he is very rude to some students in his other classes. Good thing is that his tests are referred to the Hws but overall not a good professor to take here at Solano.

This man was a terrible teacher. I had so much going on like other classes and all i would do 24/7 is study his class. He has terrible handwriting and does not give clear explanations when asked. If you answer something wrong he will embarrass you and call you out in front of the entire class

His lectures were very disorganized and spit straight from the textbook Gave us 1 hr for the first exam to finish more than 6 pages of problems, later tests gets harder. Hes smart but not understanding (i didnt go to school cus of medical emergencies), could not makeup any quizzes/exams I missed Only reason I passed was cus i passed the final ;((((

He knows the stuff but is unfit to teach. Lectures are pointless considering he copies his notes DIRECTLY from the textbook. No point in taking the class if we can simply refer to the textbook to learn. 2 hours and 15 mins of nonstop lecture is not teaching especially if the notes are copied word-for-word from the textbook. Almost ruined my 4.0 GPA

The class was asynchronous. The professor rarely communicated with the class after the first month. He recorded the zoom meetings but failed to post them in a timely manner (sometimes going weeks without posting). At the end of the semester, he let us choose our grade for the course. Only take him if you want to teach yourself.

this professor is the prof. from hell. he is so strict about the rules. if you have a health emergency he does not care. he is rude and his three hour lecture is word for word out of the textbook I'm not sure why i spent so much money on one if i was going to be copying it by hand. seems bothered. unfit to teach

Professor Allen has good teaching abilities but if you already understand the content you are trying to learn. He "prepares" you for University professors. He doesn't encourage questions, he speeds through concepts & does not put grades in until after the semester is over. I haven't spoken to anyone who feels as if they even did well in his class.

At first i thought this may be a nice class, but it ended up being a disaster from my experience. He will go over a good ammount of problems in class; However he will put the one problem he briefly went over in class on the test, but will spend a vast amount of time on problems he'd never put on the test. I'd never take a class of his again.

Only gave 10-15 minutes for quizzes. Quite strict on having to memorize exact definitions word for word.

GTFO hope you find a different professor. If you get stuck with Allen you better hope you know the ALL material before the first day because you definitely won't be learning. He lectures the entire class with enough notes to write a whole textbook. He's clearly good at math, but some people were not meant to be teachers and this is evident.

Allen made it explicitly clear that he had zero tolerance for any form of technology in his classroom. While I understand the need to minimize distractions, his approach is absurdly extreme. He watches students like a hawk, and if he spots a phone, he immediately goes into a tirade, embarrassing the student in front of the entire class.

Please do not take this professor.I talked to him on multiple occasions asking for help and he has always responded back with "Do the homework". I was in his class before and in the beginning, there was about 28 student in his class and yesterday when I came to class there were only 9 students. He does not care about his students and their success.

Darryl Allen is an absolutely terrible math professor, being in his class looks like this: - Prof arrives late and immediately marks students who arrive later than him as absent. - Gives very heavy lectures that border on theory and don't match the homework or exam questions. - DOESN'T ALLOW STUDENTS TO DRINK WATER IN HIS CLASS! - Has an attitude.

If you have to take his class, run!!! We started with over 36 students, and we ended up with 6 students or less (we had cheaters on our finals, so they got kicked out). He gives tons of homework, but no grades are inputted. Had third test and finals back-to-back-didn't see any grades until I found out I got a D. What a waste of a class!

He ignores emails and is rarely at his office hours. He lectures from his notes on the textbook, so if he deems something unimportant he will not teach it, leaving you to struggle on the hw. Makes many mistakes on grading, giving you a lower score. NO devices. You MUST have a single line calculator. Started with 28 students, finished with 7.

He said we would take 30 quizzes throughout and we took 3. He doesn't tell us what our grades are before the drop date ends and even before we take the final. If you ask him, he tells you to use the syllabus to check yourself. He's obsessed with his own syllabus. My high school teachers were shocked by his grading. He is so picky, you won't pass.

Darryl Allen may be one of the worst, if not the worst, teacher here at Solano. Very lazy, does not grade on time, he's often late to his own classes, lectures are just copy and pasted from the textbook, incapable of providing adequate help or guidance to his students that are struggling, and his grading is awful. Teaching was not his calling.

If you do not have preestablished knowledge before taking him, do not take him. Very homework heavy through the textbook, and is very unhelpful during class. Will waste time rambling about random topics that are in no way important for you.

His attitude and how he handled the situation with the student was highly inappropriate. I'm sure at least half of his class will drop it after yesterday.

Quiz on the first day, VERY strict with attendance/rules in general. No water allowed in class. Embarrassed students in front of the class if they didn't remember something from the syllabus. The material wasn't awful, I was able to understand what I was doing, but I didn't like his overall attitude.

If you could think all possible negatives a professor could have, this one has all of them booted 10x. And that is no exaggeration. This "professor" is not suited to teach at all. His lectures don't teach us anything, zero homework, impossible tests, only 3 graded assignments/tests for the whole sem. Save your time and money.

Middle school teachers can teach better then this professor. The only reason why I attended this class was for credit and it was the only class not full, now I know why. On the first day he talked about how he doesn't understand his reviews on RMP. There was a pop quiz on the first day. Canvas page is completely empty, not even your grades are on there. Basically copies paragraphs from the book on the board. Please do not take, the chance of passing is next to none. Truly the worst professor I have ever taken.

Other than being late on the fsecond day , missig the first day .He sexually harrasses anyone who actively asks questions . If he thinks i am talking to him for anything other than math he is wrong. Super unprofessional.

Literally the worst professor I have ever had the displeasure of learning from. He constantly made mistakes in his example problems and took so much class time to fix them that there was an entire unit that we didn't have time to cover at the end of the school year. Im currently taking this class and i have personally developed stress and anxiety from this class you will have homework assigned every class and takes so long. Basically have to teach yourself on the way you do homework. Cause guess what you have a quiz after homework! and he just goes over the textbook chapters but doesn't actually teach.

Doesn't teach. Goes off the textbook but all he does is copy it and not teach. Half the time he talks about "real life situations" that if you did a certain mistake at some point in real life this could happen to you. You will get screamed at if you drink water. As well as having phones no phones allowed and if he sees it he either screams at you.

Would never wear my seatbelt driving to his class hoping I wouldn't make it. Avoid him entirely. God forbid you wanted a drink of water or your phone rang for an emergency, you'd never hear the end of it. Doesn't actually teach and never put in any grades after 2 months of the class.

Avoid at all cost. When I first stepped foot into his class I could already tell this was going to be a rough semester. If you have to take him for any class, prepare to drop. Partial credit is a victim of genocide in this class. Not very helpful lectures. What you'll be doing each lecture is trying to write at the speed of light.

I dropped the professor midway through, and I have never hated a class more in my life. Coming from somebody who likes math, this class made me hate it. And don't even think about complaining about him, cause he's tenured. He also doesn't show up to his office hour,s even if you email him telling him you're going.

Between his harshly graded tests, his stupid trivia remarks, and his chalk-covered toes, I found myself hating my life. I would wake up every morning deciding if throwing my future away and living on the street would be worth it to miss one class. His class felt like I was tied up and violently beaten senseless for an hour straight with no breaks.

Absolutely nothing was done in class to make learning the already difficult material at least bearable. Just copies down work and definitions from the textbook, but doesn't ever expand or explain anything. Twice didn't hand out half of the exams until halfway through, making time management impossible. Zero in class work, insane amount of homework.
