I love this prof. A lot of people didn't because he's intimidating, but really, if you are INTERESTED (this is key), he'll be there to help 100% of the time. I wish he taught everything.

Very good teacher, traditional lecturer but you do not get bored because he has a good voice and repeats important things. allows for class discussion, sometimes belittles people for their political veiw but otherwise an excellent teacher!

Awesome teacher, great personality and very fair.

Lectures are very interesting, encourages participation from everyone, assignments and tests are fair, and will know everyone's name and political riding by the time the semester is over

Dr. Eisan is a wonderful prof. He not only knows his material well, his lectures are current, interesting, informative and clear. Creates a stimulating lecutre. He keeps all of his students involved and he knows everyone's name and and challenges each of his students as indivduals, not as a class

Never had a better Prof in my three years here at Dal. Knows his material very well. Explains the material extremely well and most importantly, makes it interesting by relating the material to current events. He's got the key quality in politics, charisma. Much the same as a guy name Trudeau.

Interests dont seem to go beyond as-seen-on-tv Cdn politics. (eg - Doesn’t know Che Guevera -wrote Chez Riviera on board when students were asked to name heroes). Would be awkward to see him sit beside intellectual like Dr Bail. And is NOT a Dr, as claimed below. He's energetic about politics, learns students names, hometowns. A1 for intro POLSCI.

Before taking this class, I had little or no interest in politics of any sort. And if I had had a boring professor, I would have hated it. But he made it interesting. He was very helpful, and willing to get to know his students. However, I disliked the fact that he assummed that everyone always knew what he was talking about.

Great teacher, makes somewhat dull topics (ie. the constitution) interesting. He was the only professor all year who knew everyones name in the class. He values attendence, so make you you attend class regulary, he knows if your not thier

The one teacher I have ever listened to about politics without falling asleep. If you attend class, and participate he is great. If you do not I can see him being a bit hard on you. Of all my classes so far he is the only one who has made an effort to learn the names of all of the students.

A fairly good professor who knows his stuff. He can be a little over the top with his jokes however (ie. with dark sarcasm), and can come across as somewhat mean. He is a nice guy once you get to know him though. Keep up the good work.

i was about to drop out of university until i took the class that was mandatory with my bachelor of mandatory. prof eisans classes are so interesting and entertaining. I remember everything I learnt in his class, you would be a fool to not take his class.

Great teacher! he is a bit intimidating at times but once u get used to him, it becomes a motivational tool and makes u want to do research so you can answer his questions in class. He is also really engaging. I will leave that class and remember what i learned....unlike most of my other classes.

Such a great prof! He's engaging and has so much knowledge about the public service. He is also super understanding if there are any issues with the assignments. I dreaded taking this class but so far, it has become one of my favourite classes!

Spectacular lecturer. It's very rare that I leave a lecture feeling truly engaged, but Eisan did that for me. Some say he plays favourites, and I don't really agree. I think he rewards effort, which makes you want to work harder. It did for me, anyway. A very reasonable man. Easily one of the best professors I've had at Dal.

I am interested in politics. Never thought there would be a day....but I am studying for my final this Saturday and sad that this is the last public management course I will be taking from Eisan. Thank you so much, you are a kind, passionate soul.

Great, personable prof. He has two rules in class: go to class & do the readings, and if you follow these rules you will do well. He always uses real life exmaples which I find makes an otherwise dry topic more enjoyable and interesting. He is always willing to help you out with questions about assignments and course material.

Really energetic and approachable. Has a bunch of great stories and anecdotes on being a civil servant working in the guts of government that's often relevent to course material. Class is also set up to engage in discussion, but its also set up in a way to get to know others. Hands down one of the best profs at dal; would recommend him to anyone.

Darryl is a great prof. He's direct, funny, and somehow manages to make dry material the most engaging thing you've ever heard. He's a very fair marker and will listen to any grade concerns you might have if you have legitimacy behind your claim. Attendance is marked, so go to class.

I was not in Eisan's MGMT2801 class, but he made his review session open to the other classes. He saved my semester in one day. He actually cared that I was a student needing to learn and not just another body that sits in a seat. Took the time to make sure concepts were understood! Two rules: go to class and participate!

He has been one of the best professors I've had at my time at Dalhousie. I wish that he could have been on full time so I could have more classes with him. He is passionate about his field of study, his students and he was definitely the most helpful professor I've ever had.

Darryl is quite literally one of the funniest profs you could ever pick to teach something as dry as Canadian politics and public policy. His examples and lectures are rooted in real-world experience as a civil servant and based around discussion. Chill class with an equally chill prof.

Darryl is unlike any professor I have ever experienced thus far in my academic career. He is truly engaged with students and encourages discussion and feedback. Attendance and participation are essential for this course however with his lecture style it makes it interesting.

Darryl Eisan is the best professor I have ever had. During my time in his class, I fell in love with the subject. He encouraged us to participate which helped my learning beyond words. Because of Eisan, I am now attending Dalhousie for a Masters of Public Administration. I suggest everyone take a least 1 class from this guy to experience his style.

Darryl Eisan is easily the best professor I have had at Dalhousie. He really cares about how each student is progressing in the class. Knowing that the class he was teaching was mandatory for the management students, he made a huge effort to engage the students. I have gone out of my way to take a class led by him again this term.

Amazing prof, one of the best at Dal! He takes time to get to know his students, and his lectures are always intersting, and he always engages and involves the class in discussions. Overall great prof!!!

I took several of Eisans courses a few years ago and he was an EXCELLENT prof who makes an invaluable effort to bring practical, real-world knowledge into the classroom -and it works. Upon his recommendation I applied to intern at the Embassy of Canada in Washington, D.C. and found myself more prepared than any of the other successful candidates.

Never in my University career have I had a professor that cares more about his student than Eisan. The content of the course isn't the most interesting but Eisan makes it the best that it could be. Students are engaged and happy to be in class. You can tell teaching is something that Eisan enjoys and is made to do. I wish him all the best.

Truly a prof who cares about his students. Darryl knows his stuff, and delivers pretty boring material in a super interesting way. A one in a million guy who really wants you to do well, and will provide you with the resources to do so. Will provide valuable info during lectures that isn't in the text, so showing up is in your best interest.

Genuine care for his students and passion for the material! Prof. Eisan is hilarious, understanding, and an exceptional teacher. He makes sure to apply content to current issues so we are able to grasp the material. Textbook is helpful, but make sure to attend class since he discusses material not covered in the text! All-in-all a 10/10 professor!

Easily my favourite prof of the term. Even though he was covering pretty basic material, he still made it very engaging and relevant to the current politics going on in the real world. You could tell he really cared about his students and the experience they had. Definitely will be trying to take more classes with him in the future!

I laughed during every lecture and always left with a smile on my face, even would go so far as to say they cheered me up. You can tell he genuinely likes teaching and interacting with students. Makes clear what he is looking for on exams and papers. Sometimes he enjoys the sound of his own voice a little too much, and cuts off students talking.

Darryl really cares about engaging with his students. He remembers your name, knows when you are not in class and emails you to wish you a good day. He tends to pick favorites. He tells personal stories in class which is fun but sometimes does not have enough time to finish the lecture at the end. Great proof and lectures are never boring.

Daryl is hilarious, so charismatic you accidentally learn everything perfectly in lectures. I've also never been more excited to attend lectures in my life than his POLI1060 class. If you love class engagement this is the guy for you

Darryl is awesome, he makes a rather boring subject interesting through his engaging lectures. He really cares about his students and values particiaption and communication. Truly someone you could have a pop at the Midtown with, or a slice at Jubilee Junction. Don't mention his heat pump rebate tho.

Eisan is a great prof who clearly cares about his students. I had him for Poli 1060 last semester and he was super entertaining prof it made me actually listen to the lectures. He is a funny guy and likes to add personal tidbits to lectures. 10/10

Great prof, nice guy who keeps it light by cracking some jokes. At the same time, takes the time to know the names of everyone in the class and be personable. Also very smart and good at communicating the course material.

Quite interesting how there are no 1 or 2 level quality ratings on Professor Eisan's RMP profile. Very interesting how that happens and CERTAINLY completely unexplainable. He's a good prof though, and his class is so interesting. Luckily free-speech has triumphed and everyone that had such a good time with his class got to submit their thoughts :)

Bro thinks his class is special or something. He's known for being a tough grader and a GPA killer etc. I went to less than 50% of the lectures, never took notes, studied briefly for exams and got above the median grade Lol. Guy scares his TA's into grading to achieve a normal distribution where the majority is found in 70-85%. ez class, db@g prof.

This professor will learn your name and everything you share with him and remember it for ever. Truly a rare teacher and a privilege to have been taught by him. I really recommend him for any course as he will explain it well and keep it interesting

I can't believe all the terrible comments about him. He put so much time and effort that was apparent when taking on this course. I hope to take him again. He is a pure,genuine,and caring person. He really made a Political Science course interesting while being online - ignore the bad ratings. I am unsure of my grade but regardless he was the best.

Don't listen to the negative comments. Darryl put a lot of effort into this class and was incredibly organized. Some people are shocked when they realize they need to try to do well in a class. Essays have clear criteria to follow; quizzes are straightforward if you study, and exams are fair with no surprises.

At the beginning of class Darryl asked what his Ratemyprof was and I told him his reviews were either a 1 or a 5. After taking his class I can honestly say he is a 5 in every sense of the word. He's the kind of person to shake your hand and actually say hello outside class. Darryl is genuine, down to earth, funny, and just an all around great guy.

Ignore all the reviews you see about him. Professor Eisan is one of the most funniest professors I've ever had and you can tell he actually cares about his students. He's always willing to help students, all you have to do is send him an email. Overall a very nice, funny, and down to earth guy!

Hilarious professor who truly values your opinion and wants you to succeed. Very understanding and very approachable. My class was at 4pm but it didn't even feel that way -- he was great at engaging the class and making even the boring chapters interesting. Definitely take his class

Great professor for first-year students who want a future in political science. He is the funny person who will get you excited for what is to come with this major.

Great guy, very fun classroom environment. Makes a point to get to know everyone in the class personally. Lectures are very similar (basically identical) to textbook material. Graded very reasonably but the TA was tougher on marking.

Darryl is great if you're willing to engage in his lectures and participate. Lectures are based off the textbook so if you do the readings you already know what to expect and can better participate.

Eisan genuinely cares about what he is teaching and tries to make the lectures engaging. As a first year, I was incredibly nervous the first week, during the first class, he walked up and down the lecture hall, shaking everybody's hand, asking their name and where they were from learning small facts about each student. He remembered it all. 10/10.

The lectures are excellent and very funny. I'm not sure why people gave him a bad rep. Assignments are pretty easy; exams are somewhat challenging but manageable. if you show up, pay attention you're gonna get a decent grade

An amazing professor! Knows his stuff and presents it in an interactive and engaging way. He is always making jokes and keeps the lectures interesting, I have never been bored in his class! He will call you out in front of the class for leaving or showing up late but this is avoidable by not doing those things. Definitely recommend!

I never use rate my prof, but prof. Eisan is one of the best profs ive encountered at Dal. He is one of the only profs ive ever had that has shown genuine care for his students, he wants to see his students succeed and has an amazing personality. His desire to teach is truly inspiring, and I would take every class of his if i could.

This professor is amazing, he genuinely cares about every student and his lectures are very engaging and interesting. If you go to class and do the readings you will do well. I absolutely recommend taking any class from him as he is a prof that makes students want to learn, go to class and do well.

Darryl is a very nice professor who makes sure to remember details about his students! His lectures are very engaging and based on participation. I appreciate a bit more of an academic focus than he provided, but that's just personal preference. The midterm and final were really fair, and the written assignments were straightforward.

If you show up and read the textbook, you'll do well in the course. He doesn't set people up for failure, and his passion for teaching this course is one of the best things about him. The class laughed at every lecture because he made it a positive place to be. Sometimes he calls on people, but just read the assigned material and try to engage.

Attendance and engagement are very important to success in this class. But that shouldn't be too difficult, since he's one of the most engaging and personable professors I've had the pleasure of taking classes with. If you're willing to work hard and meet expectations, a good grade shouldn't be out of reach.

The class is not difficult if you take notes and review as much of the textbook as you can. His lectures are incredible as he is still one of my favorite professors to date. He genuinely cares about his teachings and you as a student. Those who decided to rate him a low score probably were not all that interested in politics to begin with.

One of the GOAT professors! I decided to take his class to fulfill an elective requirement, and what a great decision! The audience participation is top-notch, and it really engages learning. He also remembers every student's name, which is quite impressive.

I actually had Professor Eisan last year. Though I understand he may not be everyone's favorite, he is a really kind and funny professor. There were times where we had misunderstandings but he always ensured that it was something to be talked out and managed. His TAs are tough graders though! He's pretty accomodating with deadlines as well.

Darryl is one of my favourite profs. He's funny, smart, and easy to talk to. His “office hours” are before class while he eats an apple which was hilarious. Assignments are easy if you pay attention. I barely spoke in class and still got full participation. Just read the textbook, show up, and you'll be fine!

Mr Eisan is a good teacher and genuinely tries to keep the class entertained and engaged, he is passionate about what he teaches and a good professor. My only critique is that the midterm was graded terribly.

Darryl is one of the best professors I've ever had at Dal. Despite not being a Poli Sci student I was still able to learn so much about introduction to government and politics from Darryl. Outside of class Darryl is very approachable and answers questions. He is one of the nicest and most caring profs at Dal. Thank you Darryl for a great semester!

One of the best profs. He likes participation in class, and if you participate and answer in class, you'll have a great time!!! If you have an issue with grading, Darryl will meet with you to go over your assignment and give you a higher mark if you deserve it.
