Mr. Myles is one of the best professors I've ever had at HCC. He knows exactly what he's talking about. He allows you to earn an easy A. I highly recommend taking his course in Public Speaking.
Mr. Myles seems strict and no-nonsense at first, but once he starts the teaching, he really is a very nice and accommodating. I was dreading public speaking but once the class was approaching the end, I was sad to be leaving. He emphasizes confidence, humor and showmanship!
He at first may seem like an "ogre". His joke not mine, but he really cares and is very helpful if you just ask. After 3 months after taking his class, I can still remember what he taught me.
GREAT TEACHER
Professor Myles is a very good speech instructor. If you have a fear of public speaking, which most people do, then take his class. You will do fine.
He is and will remain the best teacher that I have ever had. He makes his class so fun and interesting I recomend him to anybody who has a fear of getting up in front of people. I am a very shy person and he made it very calming for me.
I took his Public speaking class and absolutely loved it. I was almost sad to see the semester end...if it weren't for my other classes!!! He does seem strict at first, but it's actually just his way of helping to hip his students into shape:) Highly recommended
He is a very easy professor to work with. I say work with simply because he understands that there are many factors that affect each student. He is understanding and most off all, encourages you to do more than what you are doing now. Not only academically but just to learn about who you are. Wonderful teacher!!!
He at first may seem like an "ogre". His joke not mine, but he really cares and is very helpful if you just ask. After 2 years since taking his class, I can still remember what he taught me. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Sweet as pie:)!! Love him! Speech teachers dont get any better! Myles is the nicest most understanding person. He might come off harsh at 1st but dont be scared. He's approachable & always willing to help. No matter how bad u might think ur speech sounds he always gives GOOD POSITIVE feedback! Take him, u will be glad u did!
Excellent teacher, at first he comes across as verbose, but when you start to listen you'll find out that he's giving you the keys to getting an A, you just have to follow instructions and come to class.
He is not as bad as he seems. He does get mad when people don't do their outlines correctly. He is fair. We had to do six speeches (including gordon rule speech), a group presentation, a midterm and a final. You can use index cards for all speeches.
I was so scared to take Public Speaking, but after taking it with Professor Myles, I would love to do it again. He is funny, charming, insightful, and honest.Easy to approach. He does not tolerate people who are absent or late a lot. He will call you out in front of the class. Make sure you do your outlines exactly how he says to do it. No Joke!
To anyone considering taking a public speaking course, I highly recommend Mr. Myles' SPC 1600. It is lively and informative, and he is always interested in what his students have to say. Even if you are not a fan of giving speeches in front of others, you will definitely end up enjoying this class.
You need to attend class, use the outline he gives you to write your speeches, and take it seriously when he tells you to learn something verbatim. Very easy to get along with, entertaining to talk to. Very supportive of your efforts at writing and giving speeches. I do recommend him. Note: he also teaches at USF.
He is a great teacher, the class was fun! He is so smart that it's crazy, he can lecture on anything! But unfortunately, you need to be at every class in order to keep up and better understand the type of speech you will be doing! Just do what he asks and it's all good!!!
He is an amazing teacher! He is very warm and engaging and he really tries to help people. However, he is ADAMANT that you follow his outline (which he gives the first day and is extremely straightforward). He also requires a bear of a writing assignment for Gordon Rule: a 1500+ word essay on a public speaker. All in all, he is a great professor.
Mr. Myles is the BEST! I'm glad that I took HIS speech class, otherwise I probably would have dropped. He is very easy going and cool. I HIGHLY recommend him. He isn't an OGRE. Follow the outlines and go in front of the class and do your thing. He provides a very comfortable atmosphere.
Good Teacher and listener. Well spoken and educated. You should pass his class if you just give a decent effort and do not miss any speeches. That is the key along with the outlines and if you wanna pass speech the first time around then take his class. He is not mean but means what he say and he is fair.
Fantastic instructor! I had no intrest in this class and was taking because it was required. After my first class, I was excited to come to class eash day. He encouraged class discussion and encouraged differing opinions. (Even if they went against his!) I only wish he taught other classes!!!!
Man this brother is the boom!!!!!! His creativity of Public Speaking is fantastic... I would take him twice if I could... I would encourage anyone looking to take him to please do so....
Mr. Myles was beyond an amazing teacher. I loved the conversations, especially on Sara Palin.... it was so so so so so important lol you will hear him say so so like 5 times a day. He really made his class fun. i learned a lot. You would be an idiot to not take his class.Be on time, stay awake, and bring your book. *Read the chapters. Shenequa M

Wonderful man. Very interesting, lively, and inspirational. He's class is real and honest, and as he say's many of times . . . as long as you don't BS on your work, you will DEFINATELY make it threw his class.
Professor Myles is an incredible teacher! He's vivacious and motivating. He is very clear on his expectations of students. He gives lots of info but explains everything very thoroughly and is extremely helpful if you have any questions. You need to read your book as well as show up to class every day. I think everyone should take his class.
Professor Myles is a great instructor. Mr myles is very helpful and caring. He teaches a well discipline course and I would recommend to take this class at the very begining. It will make the rest of your college experience easier. Wish I would of taken this class in the first semester and not the last. Did I mention it was fun? he's awesome!!
Probably one of my most favorite teacher's of all time. He's straight up and real with you. Definitely does not put up with laziness. It is a good class that will help you stay focused. Oh, and he's absolutely hilarious! I always looked forward to his class every morning.
easy a for a first semester wonderful teacher very nice and understanding no homework only a few class projects which are super easy
He's a great teacher and makes his directions very clear and understandable, with that being said he takes off lots of points for missing a piece of your project/homework. Easy A if you just come to class everyday and do the work its very easy.
I took Professor Myles in the Fall term 2010 after doing terrible my first year at a large university. Professor Myles reminded me that I was capable of doing great work and was quite encouraging. Since Mr. Myles class I regained my composure as a good student and now hold a superb GPA at a big university. Thanks! Life changing professor, take him!
I'm not even in his class, and never have been, but darling, I LOVE him!! He is so fabulous. All day every day honey. Yes. Take him!!!!!! :D
IF you are ready to challenge your self like never before then you should take his College success class. He is very strict, tough, and harsh when it comes to presentations. If your not ver good at presentations he will stop you in the middle of your presentation and he will embarrass you in front of the class. Very strict in grading.
He is an awesome professor and makes the class extremely interesting and easy as long as you keep an open mind and are willing to do some work.
I LOVED MR.MYLES!! He is so far the only college professor I actually only liked going to class to listen too. He is a fantastic teacher, always willing to listen to his students and help them with whatever they need. He's very understanding but don't take his class as a joke. He does not play that!
I LOVED HIS CLASS! Mr Myles is seriously a great teacher! But DONT take his class as a joke! He will assign you a group project and I suggest you start on it ASAP. Make sure to take notes, no phones in class, be respectful and he'll love you. Tests are tricky so make sure you really read the book. Easy A if you follow rules and do the projects!
One the best teachers I've had at Hcc wish I could take his class all over again. He's is hilarious but I will warn you, you better take his class seriously he doesnt play the radio he will get on you and not afraid to speak his mind. He will put you on blast if you didn't put effort into your work. DO NOT I MEAN DO Not BE ON YOUR PHONE TRUST ME
He is a fun teacher to have but don't piss him off. He is fair and just. I like having him as a teacher.
Greaaaaaat professor. Es extremely clear with what he wants and is very understandable. He can be strict but for the right reasons. By far the best class I have taken and although it takes some work to get through its definitely an easy A.
Professor Myles is amazing! He is very clear in what he expect from his students and want them to succeed, not only in his class, but in their college career, as well in life; he truly cares. With that being said, as soon he assigned any project start on it ASAP. NO CELL PHONE Its about RESPECT. I wish he taught another subject, I would take it.
Mr. Myles is a fabulous teacher so far. I recently just got out of his class and I love him already. He has a great sense of humor and makes everyone feel comfortable as much as possible. The books is required. Only 2 presentations you'll have to do throughout the whole semester. He's just a good professor all around, SO FAR.
Prof. Myles is an amazing person. His grading guidelines are concise, he makes class fun, and YOU WILL PASS IF YOU DO THE WORK. His class is designed for you to get an A, all you have to do is put in the effort. He asks how you are doing on a personal level, and he really cares. I would love to take another class with him!
He's a great professor and makes you work for it. He can go from "0 to 100" by the blink of an eye. DO NOT USE YOUR CELLPHONE. I started disliking his class once he assigned a group project with a total of 9 students. My group I had was dreadful, but advised him ahead of time and he'll understand. He also does not input grades online, so keep track
Do ALL the work & You'll Pass!
Great Professor, Do the Work you will succeed. Be on time to classes, hates when you are unprepared, pay attention, Very helpful wants you to succeed. Class participation matters, attendance as well.
Love this professor, Do the work and be serious about your grade, you will pass. Attendance is a must. Best instructor I've had. Wish he taught other subjects, I would jump on the opportunity and sign up for it. Beware, don't piss him off. Overall he is very fair, and funny.
He was a good teacher and he really wants you to participate in school activities.
Professor Myles really cares about his students. He does not post grades online and attendance matters because he does not post anything online except the syllabus. He gives good feedback and is very funny. Show up and you will pass.
Professor Myles is awesome! Show up to class, do the speeches, and you will pass. Participate in the class and you will be his best friend. Be respectful of when class begins. Do not show up late!!! This is his biggest pet peeve along with talking when he is. Don't skip class if you don't have your speech ready; he will lose respect for you.
I took him for the summer. Easy A. Show up, participate and you'll do fine. He's funny and kind of sassy. Group project was actually fun. Oh & he will tell you what he did or did not like about your speech while your standing up in front of the class. So if you're too sensitive , don't take him.
Amazing professor, I recommend him to every single person I know. He was the first class I took when I joined HCC and it was such a great class to start with it should be mandatory! He makes sure that at the end of the course that you know where every thing is on campus and betters your vocabulary so don't be parsimonious and pay for this class!!!!
Professor Myles is great. He is very relatable and intelligent. Show up to class and turn in your work on time and you'll get an A. He understands that life happens and things come up but if you're lazy all semester he will fail you.
Professor Myles is a really funny guy. That class is an easy A. The thing I dont like about it is well get off track a lot and he gets mad at silly things. I wouldnt take him again there are better professors.
One of my favorite professors at HCC, he gives good feedback and made Public Speaking a decent class to take. Show up to class, don't treat it as a joke, actually prepare for the speeches and you will do just fine.
I do really like Professor Myles. He's super funny but takes the class seriously, sometimes too seriously. There are only 8 assignments and no tests. The class is pretty boring honestly. It's an easy A if you complete all the assignments correctly. The text book was used for literally 2 days:/
awesome
Loved having him as a professor, I wish I could take him for all my classes. He is such an amazing teacher and very motivational. He is very understanding when it comes to attendance, very respectful and class will NEVER be boring.
Take him. Just follow the syllabus, and you will get an A.
Uptight but he always lets you know when things are due and doesnt give many difficult projects. Projects are done every two weeks. Easy enough.
Prof. Myles is an interesting character. Very outgoing and friendly but he is also strict on what matters in class. The class is an easy A as long as you do the homework (which makes up your grade) no exams or quizzes, just simple work that is super easy.
Easy A. Just do the work and show up. He's nice just don't use your phone.
He expected us to bring our textbooks every day and got mad if we didn't- although we rarely used them. That was hard on my back without a car to store it in. I WAS excited about having him as the professor, but apparently I got on his bad side. He was passive-aggressive. Kids find his attitude funny, but I felt discouraged after trying my best.
hes alright i guess a little annoying, he talks so much tho like dont ask him about fsu or his frat he will literally talk the whole class about it.
Friendly but strict to a point when needed, a good balance for the classroom. Caring and respectable
Took this class and it was a nightmare. He constantly contradicts himself with assignments and doesn't follow his own instructions. Will send you a rude email if you mess something up and gives you no chance to fix it.
I was actually embarrassed for this guy. He would randomly send out emotional emails to the class full of oddly placed, fully capitalized words and misspellings. I mean, you gotta understand that no one cares about this class and that's not going to change. It came off as very childish and emotional. Take a breath fella, it ain't personal!
This class should be an easy A, but this professor seemed to do what he could to make it a nightmare. His instructions made no sense, and he expected students to read his mind about expectations. He sent me multiple emails that were extremely rude, and seems to have little respect for students. Strict on grading and made an easy class horrible.
This Professor believes that his class is the most important one. He gives an awful amount of work and gets annoyed when students don't take his class seriously. Attendance is mandatory.
I would take his class online instead of in person. He is always talking about politics and covid stuff. 45% of his class is about what the class is intended for but the rest 55% was all politics and pointless conversations.
Alright so here me out, I loved this professor he was super down to earth and real with his students. He's stern though He does talk about his fraternity a lot though but it's nothing horrible- beware. Dont take your phone out in class he will have no problem calling you tf out. Dont be afraid to be vocal in class he HATES a silent classroom.
Where do I even start this professor is by far the worst. He does the most over a class that doesn’t matter. He isn’t understanding what so ever and he sends out emotional announcements that come off rude. If you email him be prepared for him to get annoyed..
He was my first HCC professor. We used an online textbook that was easily accessible. As long as you follow his directions, rubrics, and complete assignments to the best of your abilities he will give you an A. I am very grateful that he was my professor for this class and would certainly choose him in the future. Attendance was for a grade.
This professor made a seemingly simple class very difficult. All of the due dates for the modules were out of order, making it difficult to follow along with the modules. In emails he was rude and accusatory. His instructions are unclear and he does not put them all in one place, forcing you to look for them in announcements, emails and rubrics.
If i could give him a 0 star I would. As a student with a learning disability I went to the professor to ask for assistance on a few assignments. The response I received from the professor was that it was "self explanatory" and "I can figure it out." I have never felt so stupid like how this professor made me feel.
I would not recommend this professor!!!! He made a simple easy class into a nightmare. He was very rude when talking to me via email. He made me feel stupid and his directions for assignments are very unclear. When he gave you "advice" he would say " its not that difficult" or " its much easier to follow instructions from the onset."
Honestly loved him, he really appreciates people who are respectful and participate in class. He is always telling funny stories and having light hearted class conversations that made the class worth it to attend. Assignments are easy, only one or two presentations that you MUST do but he makes them very comfortable to showcase.
I thought this class was going to seem simple, but its not. I'm doing more work in this class than my own core classes (which is also a lot)! What also doesn't help I am jumping from module to module constantly, nothing is in order. Instructions are also unclear and he doesn't explain anything in emails, just gives rude responses that don't help.
He expects students to treat this class as the most important one they will ever take and to go above and beyond for his assignments. His instructions are also very vague and unclear but if you do not precisely follow what he envisions in his mind, to paraphrase his exact words from one assignment, "YOU ARE WRONG."
his emails are so full of "UNACCEPTABLE" that this man might as well be lemongrab from adventure time. he is so demanding of an online class he never sees, but treats us as if we are going to viciously attack him. he threatens zeroes left and right and if you dare don't do something EXACTLY how he wants, he'll mark you wrong without telling you why
Well, the class is easy but the Professor does send out some crazy announcements when the assignments aren't done to his liking. However, the assignments are out of order and you do find yourself spending a lot of time doing the assignments. There is a required orientation. If you decide to take this class, be prepared for a lot of writing.
I hate to be one of those " if u do the work you'll be fine" but the way this class is set up u would literally have to have the brain of a roach not to get an A. its project based primary and most of the assignments are u going over your own goals for college. He's definitely opinionated and it might rub u the wrong way at first but hes great.
My experience is that he had anger issues. He had and kicked EVERYONE out of class because some people where on there phones. He did not stay calm or speak in a professional manner. There where times he yelled at the class and even stomped his feet out of class. The IN PERSON LECTURES where a WASTE of TIME.
TAKE SOMEONE ELSE FOR SLS1105. This class should be easy but he makes it difficult. He is an angry man and was constantly yelling at students during class. One class he even threw everyone out while students were doing presentations. The lectures were worthless. The assignments were not that hard but the directions were contradictory/confusing.
He was the best teacher ever when I had him last semester! He is a fair grader and I made many friends in his class and it felt like family. I will admit he was a little too much about phones being used during class and attendance being mandatory but other than that he was a very beautiful human being and the greatest professor you'll ever meet.
I do not recommend this teacher. At the end of the course I submitted an assignment at 10:40 p.m. and the assignment wasn't due until 11:59 p.m. that night and when he graded it he gave me a zero. When I emailed to ask why he told me that he had already submitted my grade before I submitted the last assignment and there was nothing he could do.
Useful class and an easy A, but had a few problems. The instructions for assignments are in multiple places and despite following them perfectly, he'll tell you that your work is missing something. Many times I experienced this, yet nowhere was I informed to include/do that. I suggest you submit work early to catch this and ensure a good grade.
I wouldn't recommend this professor at all. I submitted a project where I didn't notice the format he wnted the citations in. Looked at the rubrics He gave me a 0. Rubrics say you get at least 1/2 a point if you include citations but don't do them in the format. Emailed him, he was rude about it. Basically, said not to ask questions in grading.
This classes isn't too difficult just keep up with your work.
Professor Myles is unpredictable and honestly has some anger issues; he explodes when someone does things that he finds "disrespectful," such as daring to check your phone in the middle of class. That being said, his class is extremely easy. Just shut up, listen to him yap, and do the homework the way he wants it to be done, and you'll get an A.
Mr. Myles made SLS very easy. He grades late assignments and will understand if you weren't able to submit an assignment and also just do the work and you'll be fine. Even if you submit the work late, you can still get an A. Pick him if you need to take SLS 1106!
Super Straightforward class just do the work and you'll get an A. He's very clear on how he wants assignments done and as long you pay attention and follow his instructions you will get an A. Attendance is mandatory.
Professor Myles was generally lenient and his class was easy. But in the last week when he'd finally graded everything he gave me a 0 on an early assignment despite confirming it was complete. When I followed up at the end of the semester, he said “it did not affect your grade” and stopped replying. If you care about every point, don't take him.
I came back to school excited to learn but this class felt pointless Most of the work didn't connect to anything meaningful and it was hard to stay motivated The professor was fine but the course needs a serious update The access code is HAWKS in case you need it
Super fun teacher loved being in his class. I missed a few assignments due to travel hence the C+, but easy light work and cool teacher. Witty, funny, articulate and engaging.
Excellent professor. This is an easy class…just do the work. Professor Myles is very fair and responsive. If you do the class, you will learn a lot about how to manage life and school
I loved Professor Myles. Attendance is mandatory, but the classes are fun. He seems intimidating, but he's accommodating if you communicate with him and cares about your success. Assignments are through Canvas and take less than an hour each week (easy). Lots of time to complete work, no exams. For the course being a grad requirement, take him.
I loved Professor Myles, he is a great professor and you won't regret taking him. he is very understanding and he is very hilarious in his lectures and seems like has a good time teaching and engaging with students. If I would take this class all over again I would!
