I was shocked that Darwin Morgan wasn't on here. He is a fantastic teacher, he provides reading worksheets, and his PowerPoint's are amazing. he allows for questions and always writes back to emails. the exam are straightforward. The chapter reading are easy followed by a short true or false quiz on web-campus. AMAZING TEACHER!!!
Darwin Morgan was honestly my favorite professor this semester. It was my first semester in college and he was really helpful and understanding . I 100% RECOMMEND HIM!! TAKE HIM!! i took it online and it was one of the easiest classes i took . i enrolled late he let me come in a take the test. my wifi failed and i came it . VERY UNDERSTANDING!!!!
This class was very simple and easy to follow. Always responded to emails in a timely matter, and was always available for help if need be. Class material was clear and straight to the point and the tests reflective that. Super nice guy. Class discussions were interesting and always answered questions to the best of his ability. Great professor.
Great professor! I loved this class more than any others I have taken at UNLV. If you're going to take CRJ take Professor Morgan's class.
Prof. Morgan was a fantastic instructor. IClicker participation is mandatory in class, quizzes every week on the reading, an online activity (it's so easy). There are three tests and a final exam. Take him if you are considering taking CRJ 104. Super approachable, too! Go see him in his office if you have questions about anything!
Professor Morgan is extremely helpful and knowledgeable professor! I took this course online. There were quick activities, 12 quizzes, and 4 exams online. (Given 10 mins for quizzes and 30 mins for exams) He always explains everything so clearly when I ask during his office hours! I would definitely recommend taking his class! He's the best! :D
Awesome professor! Extremely knowledgeable and very funny. His assignments are typically very easy. If you show up, take notes, and do the assignments, I guarantee you will pass the class.
Absolutely love Prof. Morgan! He’s super knowledgeable & encourages students to meet w/ him for help (esp. w/ his online classes). There's some busy work; but they take less than 10 min/assign. Interactive games are fun for learning concepts. 10Q quiz/Module & a 25Q Exam/Section. Read, Study, and MEET w/ him - You will learn so much! :)
Awesome professor! He was fun, explained everything well, and very helpful when you ask for help. I felt like he was my grandpa lol. Other than the professor, the class was really interesting, but you really do have to read the book. Definitely would recommend.
This class was the most boring class I have ever taken and Criminal Justice is my major. He likes to go off on tangents and never finish the power point, so reading the text book is absolutely essential to passing the class.
There's a lot of ways to exercise the material from the book and the lectures. Really to pass if you do work and pay attention. Interesting lectures.
He will definitely help out students who are struggling. All you need to do is set up an appointment and he will do his best to help you out. Seems very passionate about his field and willing to teach students anything about CRJ. Take him!
I took this class as my second year seminar because it sounded interesting, but if I could go back I would not take this class. Three required novels, five "short" essays, required volunteer work + project and paper, research paper, midterm and final; he truly expects too much out of a second year seminar class. Nice professor, terrible class.
Everything is very clear.
TOOK HIS ONLINE CLASS! STRAIGHTFORWARD AND WORKLOAD WAS MINIMUM. TAKE HIM!!
I took this class as it was required for my major. I would absolutely not take this class if I didn't have to. The workload is insane. Each lecture has required reading, five essays, midterm and final, a civic engagement presentation and paper, and a large research paper. Come prepared & do your best on everything or you will fail.
I would not recommend taking this class. The workload is ridiculous (i.e. 6 essays, readings from 3 different books as well as online journals, presentation + 6 page paper on volunteer work (10 hours) and 10 research page paper all on the same topic). If you are only planning on taking one class, you could manage, but any more and it'd be tough.
He is big on attendance and iclickers so make sure you show up to class or you will be docked a letter grade. His class is borderline boring, but if you read the text and attend lectuers you will pass because his class is easy. He is very organized and his work is minimim. I would recommed taking his class because you will learn a lot.
iClickers and book are a must. As long as you read the book you will pass his class very easily. His quizzes and tests are pretty easy. His required class lectures are extremely boring and long. Some stuff in lectures are on tests. He brings in guest presenters that are great. I would take this class.
Prof. Morgan is one of the best instructors! VERY knowledgeable and helpful. You just need go out of your way to see him and he'll really help you out. Attendance is by iClicker and although his class can be long, he points out what's going to be on the exams so you get a heads up, IF you're there. Definitely gonna miss his class! THANK YOU PROF!
One midterm, one final. His first time teaching the course, but not my first time taking him. Great professor; GSC 300 was challenging (to say the least). Has excellent potential as a professor in this class but man this was tough due to the consistent shifting of frequent due dates and he NEVER drops a paper. Very fair grader and informational.
Writingreading intensive! 3 books & 6 essays. Other than that, he's one of the most amazing professors I've ever came across. He is just all around great & truly cares about your success. There's 3 cheap books. Attendance is crucial but his lectures were so enjoyable that I actually looked forward to it every day. Take him!!!
Professor Morgan is clear in what he expects of students the first day of class. There are weekly quizzes and 4 exams that are NON-Cumulative. Study, show up to class with your iClicker and participate.
He leads an amazing class discussion and he is helpful if you need it. He answers e mails promptly, and makes himself available outside of office hours. Required WAY too many assignments, a lot of "short" papers, reading and 10 hours of community service, which also required a paperpresentation in addition to the final paper and final exam.
I'm mid-semester in his GSC class and have taken his class previously as well; I must say, he is one of the best professors I have ever had. In comparison to his crj class, gsc definitely has a far more intensive work load but it really isn't bad at all. Keep up with the work, and you'll be fine!
I loved this course! As a science major, I had no prior knowledge of the criminal justice system. Therefore, I struggled a lot in the beginning. But Professor Morgan was Always there to explain any concepts further for better understanding during this office hours. It was not an easy A for me, but I managed to get the grade with his help! :)
I loved his class. The material could be dry at times, but he made it a lot of fun. He would tell you important information twice and you would know what would be on the test way ahead of time. If you needed any help or had any questions he was more than willing to work with you as much as you needed. There is one group project. Great teacher!
Awesome professor! Don't be discouraged by the 10 service hours required. If you need help finding an organization, he will help you. If you communicate with him, he will get you where you want to be. Very clear in grading and offers feedback on all papers. If you show up and take notes you'll do very well in the class.
This was my favorite class! He is very knowledgeable. Class was small so it was a very personable setting. His lectures are full class time but they are interesting and he is current with events. A mid-term, final, 10 volunteer hours, research paper, and 3 essays. Sounds like a lot but I winged most and passed with a B. You won't regret his course
He is very nice and always offers extra help during his office hours. Attendance is enforced and also participation with I-clicker. Reading the textbook is required as well as class notes for exams and weekly modules that include quizzes and activities.
He is so helpful and is there for you whenever you need some clarification. His lectures are very interesting and essential to passing.
Only four exams throughout the semester and no papers. Attendance is through the iclicker so you have to come to class for the participation points. Lectures get a bit boring, but before the exam he'll give you a study guide. Few extra credit options. The only thing I don't like about this class is the no electronics rule.
Prof. Morgan is a great GSC 300 instructor. There are three books to read (and affordable!), three short essays, a group project, final paper and presentation on a topic you choose. He wants you to succeed in this course. Go to his office and get help if you need it. This isn't an easy A class unless you're willing to put effort into the class.
He is a great teacher. He keeps his lectures interesting and is very knowledgeable. He relates a lot of what you learn to current issues. He was always there to talk to me if I had questions. Just pay attention and study the notes and you'll ace the tests. The homework is minimal and easy but helps learn the material. I would recommend his class.
While this class requires a lot of reading and writing, it is worth it. Professor Morgan makes it really easy by providing many resources and is always there to help. Class discussions were always interesting and he knew how to keep students engaged. If you're looking for a sign on who to pick, this is it.
The class was really boring . A lot of people would fall asleep during lecture, but I guess if you actually enjoy CRJ you may not find it boring. However professor Morgan is great! He's very knowledgeable about the crj system & he is always willing to help you out in office hours if you need it. The class itself is super super easy
Class was easy. Just do the online quizzes (10 min. for 10 questions) & activities (they take like 2 min.). Also, attendance is taken w/ iClicker & you will lose points if you don't click in so always come! Exams are straightforward (& non-cumulative) & simply worded. Morgan also gave multiple opportunities for extra credit. This class is an easy A
Prof. Morgan is simply amazing. He is extremely helpful and truly cares about his students. Expect a lot of reading, 10 community service hours and a ton of writing. Though this class is not easy, his lectures are enjoyable and he keeps students engaged. Participation is a good chunk of your grade, so do not expect to sit back and not talk at all.
Took this class over summer, unlike the regular term, we did not have to complete 10 hours of community service. 2 papers, a 10pg research paper (SUPER easy bc the way he brakes it down), and a final. Make sure you read and come prepared to be engaged, it counts! Prof Morgan is one of the BEST, if I could take another class I would take him again!
Pretty easy class. Show up, do your assignments, and you'll pass. Not a very exciting class and pretty much reads off the power point. But other then that, it's not a bad class.
Darwin Morgan was a good professor. He is very passionate about what he teaches and tries his best to give his students the best lectures possible. There are small quizes due every week, and there are tests over 3 chapters a time every 2 weeks. His course was not hard at all, just make sure you stay on top of the work!
Professor Morgan was remarkable. He gave great lectures and was available to meet outside of class to ensure you understood the material. Learning modules were a big part of the grade and there was a little extra credit. Short tests, which he provides a precise list of material you'll be tested on. Only problem was the lab requirement but it's fine
This class was amazing! The only advice I would give would be to stay on top of your work do all the homework and quizzes and take good notes in the class! Overall a great instructor. If you do all the work and review for you exams it will be easy to get an A or a B.
Really wants you to pass, gives plenty of opportunities to raise grade. An easy A.
Darwin Morgan has a lack of respect for his students. He urges students to participate in discussion then interrupts them in the middle. He often demeans his students and has a "I know all" mentality. It doesn't foster a good discussion space especially in a class based of verbal participation.
His lectures can start to bore you, but they contain valuable information for the tests. Be sure to show up for his lectures and take good notes and you're pretty much guaranteed a good grade. He's very accommodating for meeting outside of class. He is a great professor who truly cares for his students.
Professor Morgan gives excellent lectures and easy to understand notes. He will prepare you for every test, but I advise you that you do the online activities and follow the study guide. Hint* write down stuff he emphasizes during his lecture (he will warn you that it is something important) because he will most likely put it on the test.
Attendance counts as points towards your grade(taken through the use of the iclicker). You have weekly quizzes and interactive modules. You have a total of 4 exams(including midterm and final). The day before the exams he cuts lectures early to go over topics on the test. Do the modules and quizzes and you'll be fine. SHOW UP TO CLASS!
I thought this class would be really difficult, but just follow the syllabus and ask questions. Read the books because he will ask questions in class about it. If you don't read and can't answer the questions, he will give a quiz that will be graded. Couple of essays, 3-4 pages long. Final research paper 10 pages. Take home exam, 3-5 pages.
Darwin is a good professor, he loves to hear himself talk though. He is very strict on attendance and due dates but his exams were only 25 questions long. They were not tricky questions. Show up, pay attention, take the notes on the slides, do the extra credit and you'll receive a good grade. DONT USE YOUR CELLPHONE HE WILL GO NUTS.
Took GSC during summer session with Prof. Morgan. He is great! Definitely keeps students engaged in class discussion by always asking questions rather than just lecturing. Always listens to what everyone has to say. He's got that southern hospitality, nice guy! 10 pg paper was intimidating but assignments leading up to paper make it bearable!
Prof. Morgan is the type of professor who will make sure you succeed in his class. He's really caring and always available to give you enough feedback to track your progress. It's a writing intensive class (VERY INTENSIVE), but he will make sure you go step by step. Read the books, don't miss writing assignments, you'll be fine.
Great teacher Email and he will help Best teacher my freshman year Class is fun but definitely homework heavy (somewhat)
Great professor one of my favorites at UNLV I try to take as many classes I can of his. Very good teacher knows his stuff. Show up take notes and you will get a good grade. Fairly simple tests he goes over everything in class. He is also available a lot out of class if you have any questions dont be afraid to ask he will be helpful
He did a great job at explaining the material and giving examples.
I took Prof. Morgan's CRJ104 class and it was easily one of the best classes I have taken because you learn so much from his lectures. Participation matters to him, though, and missing a lecture costs a lot to your grade because he covers so much material. Weekly modules due at the start of every other class and 4 exams total.
You will need the textbook and the iclicker. Be ready to take notes when you go to class. Gives a study guide for each test, 4 test in total. Bring your iclicker everyday to class or else you won't get credit. Just do all your work on time and you will do fine.
He's amazing. If you read the textbook and take the quizzes and do the games online, you'll be fine. His lectures are full of information needed to pass the tests and iclickers are his way of taking attendance. 100% would take his class again.
Has to be my favorite professor at UNLV. Pretty charismatic, cracks some funny jokes, and genuinely tries to bond with students. Once you get to know him, he can be pretty helpful in the long run. As long as you keep up with the reading and show up for lecture, you should be fine. Quizzes and modules are pretty easy too.
One of my fav professors I've taken. He's an amazing lecturer and this is one of the only classes that I fully pay attention in. All assignments are online and are incredibly easy. Test are not commulative and are easy as long as you go over your notes briefly before the test. book is mandatory but I managed an A without it. Super nice dude too
He uses an iClicker for attendance/participation so if you don't go, you don't get credit and you won't pass. He uses modules and quizzes for homework and gives out 4 tests, the third one is the hardest. He's pretty easy other than that though.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. You will easily walk out knowing something new and interesting every day. Grade consists of weekly modules with around 4 games and a quiz, all super easy. The 4 exams are easy if you study a little the day before/of. You're also given a study guide each time. Attend class and do hw easy A.
He's a really great professor. There's Interactive Activities and a quiz online every week. Then 4 exams total too. He grades attendance with iClicker so show up and STAY in class. He takes attendance again at the end of class sometimes. Overall, I'd definitely take him again. He's very caring, and genuinely wants his students to pass his class.
one of the best, BEEEEEST professors I have EVER taken, hands down
Professor Darwin is one of the best professor at UNLV. Highly recommend taking his class. He really cares for his students, and helps you understand the material if you are struggling.
He was one the greatest professors I have ever had at UNLV. I wish he taught more CRJ classes
One of the best professors in the criminal justice department. I recommend going to class because his tests come off the notes you take in class.
Professor Morgan is a wonderful professor. He might seem intimidating but is so caring and helpful. He genuinely cares about his students and there is so much I learned from taking his class. Recommend 100%!!
You must not have any kind of technolgy out at anytime no matter what!!!
Professor Morgan is very caring for his students. Attendance is taken through iclickers, all homework and a weekly quiz is done online, while the actual tests are done in class. If you attend the lectures and attend his review session, the tests should be a breeze. Weekly quizzes are easy as well, as long as you do the reading, which isn't so bad.
Professor Morgan is a really great teacher, however it was the class itself that was difficult. This is NOT an easy A class. There are 3 texts you need to read because the projects and papers are all based off of the books. Theres 2 projects and 3 papers throughout the semester. The class work will take up a lot of your time.
Highly recommend Professor Morgan! His tests aren't too bad, just make sure to take good lecture notes esp. on the IA's. He also provides a few, easy extra cred opportunities. His lectures are pretty long, but he provides good examples to keep it more engaging. He is also willing to answer questions and is caring enough to email CRJ event info!
Honestly love this professor. Wish he taught more CRJ classes. There are weekly modules that are in the format of 4 games to play, as well as a weekly quiz based off of the textbook. There are 4 exams that are only 25 questions each but are super easy if you just write down all of his lecture notes. Super funny and nice guy. No technology allowed!
Professor Morgan is a cool guy. He makes lectures interesting and tries to be entertaining. We have readings to do every week, videos to watch, four games to play, and a quiz but honestly the work does not take long and you have a week to do it. The four exams were simple as long as you study the definitions which he discusses during lectures too.
I took the new version of the class, the Urban Adventure, and it was rad! It focuses on real experience instead of lectures. The class is flipped so you'll watch videos at home and discuss in class. Prof. Morgan was awesome and very funny. He is understanding and easy to work with but doesn't take any BS. Just do your assignments and show up!
I took the first GSC300 class that a Urban Adventure. It was interesting not knowing what you are going in for. If you are not into group projects DO NOT take this class! From beginning to end you have to work as a group. There's a lot of readings and assignments every week, but very useful. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!
Great professor, he is really into the class, and makes sure you understand the lessons. There are weekly online assignments and quizzes, total of 3 exams, the final being the 3rd. Exams are based on the chapters discussed in that section. He also gives MANY extra credit opportunities. Overall GREAT professor! ICLICKER NEEDED FOR ATTENDANCE!
Some of the work is tedious but he is supportive along the way
I chose to take this as a 3 hour class every Friday, literally JUST so I could take it with him. I've had him for previous CRJ classes so I knew it would be worth it, he helps you a lot and sets very clear standards for what he expects and tells you exactly how to get an A. He's a pretty easy grader as long as you try and participate in class!
My favorite Professor at UNLV so far. I had him for CRJ104 and learned a lot. Have an i-Clicker for attendance, take notes, do the module assignments and quiz on time and you will be alright. Exams are a reflection of those materials. Choose him, you wont regret it. Well, as long as you can go a class period without your phone #NoCellPhones
Not too bad. Can be a bit intimidating but he's very helpful and resourceful with the Trailblazers Program. Very interesting as well with a lot of good stories. Always use the I-Clicker, also a lot of the exams are based on the online games. The quiz also covers stuff that is in the textbook as well. This class is graded based on points added up.
He's fine. He required the physical iclicker, not the app, so that's annoying. He's very funky with tests and technology, but if you show up and take notes, you'll pass.
Prof. Morgan is AMAZING!! Urban Adventure was one of my fav classes ever, even though it ended up online due to corona. Prof. Morgan is super caring and wants everyone to pass. As long as you participate in class you get full points for the day. Like someone else on here, I took it on a Friday specifically so I'd have Morgan. 100% worth it
Professor Morgan was an amazing professor, especially for my first semester at UNLV. His class is based on the lectures and games/quizzes on canvas. His lectures are the key to the class so although attendance isn't "mandatory" it is important to show up and he gives extra credit for using the iclicker!
Professor Morgan is a great teacher! His lectures were interesting. This may sound weird, but he has a very soothing voice that can make you doze off. He gives extra credit with iClicker, so make sure you attend class. Tests are straight forward and he always gives a study guide before hand so you know exactly what's on the tests. Book not used
Prof. Morgan is THE BEST professor I have taken. He really cares about his students, replies fast to any questions you email him, and will help you however he can. Even taking this class over summer wasn't too hard(obviously it was a lot to cram in). You must take him whenever you can. I will try to take him again before graduating from UNLV.
If you're reading this, it's not too late! Take Prof. Morgan for GSC 300. Literally a 10 out of 10! Totally recommended professor! Great professor!
I took Urban Adventure in person and it was amazing. If you want to do something completely new I highly recommend this class, and with Professor Morgan. It is very collaborative and you'll get the most out of it if you actually participate. Professor Morgan truly cares about students and wants to help you succeed and do your best all the time.
Best second-year seminar to take. Morgan is an amazing professor and the class was so much fun and interactive. There's lots of group work but I guarantee you that it is fairly easy and so much better to do than tests and papers (there's not any!). Do not get scared about how interactive the class is and enroll in it ASAP! you will not regret it!
I took prof morgan for GSC 300 in fall 2021. This was a class that I will carry with me throughout my life. This class is 100% hands-on. There will never be a boring class and this is a class you WANT to come to. Very exciting, lots of teamwork (which scared me at first) but I am so thankful I did it. You will leave this class with much knowledge.
The subjects interesting but if you miss one day of class your grade will drop a whole letter grade.
Professor Morgan is the best professor I've ever taken! He is extremely helpful if you need extra help or just don't understand something. He is also very funny and interesting to listen to. He makes me want to come to class. I highly recommend taking him for CRJ104! :)
Professor Morgan is an outstanding professor. He cares for his students and his class. Attendance is mandatory because of group crime scene simulations. This class prepares you for REAL LIFE workplace scenarios. If you are thinking about taking this class or any class with Prof. Morgan, you definitely should! I would retake this class if I could.
Knows his stuff and is a good man. This class at worst will be 15 minute online assignments Just show up to lecture and absorb the information and if you have any further questions he makes it very apparent how patient and cool he is
Amazing professor. So understanding and accommodating. Only professor I have that realizes we are human. Great lectures, not boring. Pay attention to lectures or keep up if you miss and you'll have an A. Wish he taught every class on campus.
Prof Morgan was great! I took this class to see if I would like criminal justice and now it's my major. Uses website "Vantage" for reading (I love it), attendance isn't mandatory but lectures are incredibly helpful for the exam. Exams are short, straightforward multiple choice. Morgan wants his students to succeed and is very understanding.
I do not recommend taking this class, especially as a first year freshman whos just getting used to the college life. It is stressful, very note heavy, and if you miss a class, you're going to be screwed on taking notes. This is a challenging class with a very heavy workload. The instructor isn't very nice or understanding. Very harsh deadlines.
Professor Morgan is a really good prof. HE IS LECTURE-BASED, so even if attendance isn't mandatory, missing lectures will mess up the note-taking. I just went full online notes-taking since he doesn't put his lecture notes online. The "Vintage" program is really easy to use and I do find it helpful. Tests were easy and in general a great course.
He is very accessible, if you have any questions/concerns just bring it up to him. He grades with great timing and always leaves really good feedback, I loved that about him. This course is fun, expect discussion posts with response to TWO people (they're fun discussions tho), a paper, watching documentaries/or volunteering somewhere in your area.
Lectures are not required in order to pass the exam material so long as you follow along with the course curriculum. There is plenty of homework, but they are not difficult by any means. The homework consists of a few discussion posts, knowledge checks, and interactive games for each module - Easy, but a lot if you fall behind.
I really enjoyed having Darwin Morgan as my professor. There is quite a few assignments you have to do but you have weeks to get them done so it's not hard to keep up. As long as you are going to class and taking notes on lectures you will do perfectly fine. He lets you know what topics will be on the exams so you have an easy time studying them
he is a professor, made every lecture fun and always had a welcoming and funny attitude.
