Spends class time talking about battleship galatica...lecture is all on power point...goes extremely fast...gives little hw..however is rated 2/3 or 3/3 on difficulty..with 3 being the hardest..if u can take someone else..save yourself

decent teacher and a fair grader. really enjoys physics and can be quite helpful if you ask. just do the homework he assigns and you will do good. i recommend him.
MAN THIS GUY SUCKS. he blabs about random stuff and doesnt even go over the course material. first test i guessed on every answer. it was pathetic. but he doesnt take attendance so instead of hearing him blab about random things not on the test i just dont show up and i study on my own.
Anybody who does not succeed in this class is just down right lazy. Physics will be challenging wherever you take it so you might as well take it with Davis. He goes out of his way to make sure that his grading scale is fair. Do the homework and you will breeze through this one.
Good teacher, we learned a lot. Fair grading, take him!
excellent, nice stories. likes to say "go figure" alot.
he is a strange teacher, only teaches theory but he will do a homework problem if you ask he tells you what going to be on the test also he uses movies to explain physics
Great prof. He really has passion about astronomy. Very easy tests IF you pay attention to lectures (which he puts up online). Anyone who wants an interesing and easy A for a phys sci class should take his Astronomy class.
This class was super easy. You copy notes from power point then take a test on them. He drops the lowest test grade and gives you extra credit homework assignments where the points are added onto your final grade.
This was a good teacher. He can get boring at times because he repeats a lot but if you missed something its a good quality. He reviews at the beginning of every class and offers extra credit that really helps. He's tests are easy as long as you read the book and look over your notes. He does not require any homework. He loves his "catch phrases"
I highly reccomend Dr. Davis. This was a 6 week summer class. He used every bit of the 2 1/2 hours every day to make sure he went slow and we were getting the info. He likes to use Yandaree spacecrafts on his tests. Knowledgeable, helpful. As long as you study the problems and info he gives you and pay attention I'd say gauranteed A.
Took over summer 6 weeks. Do the suggested problems and you'll do fine.
Great professor. The course is easy but not simple. By that I mean that it is not a guaranteed passing grade - but if you put forth effort it is easy to succeed. The book is used only for problems; consider photocopying a friend's problems. Extremely helpful - ask him any question without fear of embarassment! Clear teacher; will help if confused.
One of the friendliest most knowledgeable instructors I have ever had. You can tell when an instructor is teaching just to teach and when one genuinely loves the subject matter, Dr. DAVIS loves the cosmos and it shows. He cares about his students and strives so that all can achieve their fullest potential in his class. He should work for NASA
If you can stay awake long enough to take notes down off the powerpoint presentations every day, you should be good. The excessive amount of extra credit off sets any bad test scores. Very easy class.
Totally agree with "If you can stay awake long enough to take notes down off the powerpoint presentations every day, you should be good". The tests are hard because you're usually studying the wrong thing, the study guides are a joke. I went into this class psyched, to only be disappointed. I definitely wish I would have taken Oceanography.
"When last we left" Remember these words. He says it at the start of every class. Hes a greta teacher. Tests are easier than easy. He is very interested in science and is very willing to help. I strongly recommend him
Terribly easy for a physics class. He must not want to see students again because he practically hands you an A. Don't expect to be challenged and don't expect to be prepared for tough university professors. Take him only if you want an easy A.
Instructor makes subject extremely easy without a large workload. Unless you're going into the field, you only need to focus on the test problems which he gives you ahead of time.
Dr. D is great! He does have a few phrases he likes to say, but with that being said, He is awesome. He lets you know exactly what will be on the tests and he is very available if you need help. But if you pay attention and take a few notes you will pass with ease. I definately reccomend him!!!!
Dr. Davis is a great teacher. He is very knowledgeable about Physics, but still manages to keep the class light-hearted and fun when he can. Dr. Davis really goes out of his way to provide his students with all the tools they need to succeed in his class, including formula sheets, notes, test reviews, and extra credit.
Simply awesome! He makes physics crystal clear. He has a way of making sure you completely understand the material if you are confused, especially in the lab. Some other reviews said he's boring: that's because you don't like physics. Participate and the class is awesome and stimulating. Offers help and Ex. Cred. No excuse for not getting an A.
Great teacher! Do the suggested problems for they are very similar to the test. Got A's on every test highly reccomend this teacher for physics 1 and 2
this guy is awesome. there is no excuse for not getting an A in his class, he will do everything he can to help you. if he was teaching phy2 I'd take it with him for sure.
Great teacher. Really knows what he's doing. I got an 100 in his class with no problem. Lots of extra credit and he's helpful if you have any problems with tests. Great teacher to take.
Although the subject matter can be interesting, Professor Davis tends to read very monotonously from his notes, which is not how I prefer to be taught. He does offer a great extra credit opportunity.
Smart man. Class becomes boring but its worth taking. He tries to make it interesting. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.
Seemed very hard when I got him to sign my closed class form. Got into the class and found out hes a joke. You can sleep until he gives the problems of interest. Use those for the test. The lab is a pain to sit through. You start experimenting in the last 10 min. of the lab. Only take if you want an easy A. Not if you want to learn.
Really smart in his subject, but his lectures are boring. Class should be an easy A. Good amount of extra credit. I got a 130% on my first test. One "paper" which consists of a few paragraphs.
A very competent and interesting Professor. Work load is easy, so must be self motivated to succeed.
He is awesome. One of the best professors at BCC. Best thing is that he doesn't care much about lab, which is how all professors should be. His stories and jokes actually make the class laugh and he's an all around good guy.
Dr Davis is one of the best professors I ever had. I will definitely take him for General Physics 1. I would recommend him if you are a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, and Science Fiction.
He is a good teacher! He is always willing to help students, and he wants his students to do extremely well. His physics class was ridiculously easy though. As long as you can do the problems of interest you are set. His test problems generally involve Yandarii and he always give 10-15 points extra credit on each test. His labs are super chill.
Good teacher.Super easy class! It is an easy A for sure. Just get the POI's, and you are good to go! Homework is not collected. Quizzes are all extra credit. Labs are easy too!
nice enough guy but I'm not sure how much I actually learned. Guess I'll find out when I take PHY 2049 but I will not be taking this instructor again.
I took him for Astronomy, and his class BLEW MY MIND. I learned soooo much from him. Theres 5 tests and he gives you study guides for all of them. If you take notes, go over the study guides and actually pay attention, you will get 100+ on every test, I did! Theres one hmwk assignment, where you just have to write one paper, and its really easy! :)
His class is so boring. I fall asleep in it all of the time. He takes 20+ minutes to go over a 2 point slide and talks about unnecessary things. His tests are kind of hard, but grades them easily. They are usually out of 20 points but most tests have 25+ questions. Homework assignment is really easy, also.
Very friendly teacher who makes a class that could be very confusing and difficult relatively simple to get through. Take good notes and study his problems of interest before each test and you should be fine, especially since he gives extra credit on each test. If you like SciFi you are also in for a treat, as he makes lots of Star Trek references.
I took his astronomy class over the summer. That being said, I'm glad I did. It is an introduction class, so while I did learn new things, some of it was familiar. His tests are easy if you go over his study guides, and I chose the homework option that involved writing a scientific Star Trek story. He does ramble a bit, but is understandable.
He is a cool guy and an obvious Trekky. :P The tests are plain and simple. Count how many times he says "While I gotcha here"
Very good professor, I recommend him. Very cool guy, makes class fun and really interesting.
He is a very good classroom instructor; however, warning to anyone thinking about online. Instructor never got it together and this hurt students overall. Saying "I am sorry" does not a class teach. Stick to classroom only.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR ONLINE, very confusing, stressful and no communication at all. Hear he is a great professor in the classroom so take in the classroom to get something out of this class.
Awful. Very confusing and ambiguous about grading. Spends entire lecture doing POIs, but then those only cover half the tests. Thought I was familiar after test 1, but then he had an assistant grade, so you can't even expect consistency in grading. The sci-fi stuff is cute until he uses it on the tests, making them even more confusing and unclear.
Professor Davis was a very good teacher, and went into a lot of detail on his lectures. He certainly takes way to long doing practice problems (usually like one in 30 minutes). He helps a lot of you are not understanding the concepts. Very funny, but in a very geeky, old guy kinda way with jokes from Star Trek, Star Wars, Cartoons, Superheroes, etc
Dr. Davis is a really great teacher. His lectures are long but he goes in to grave detail in order for his students to understand and learn. He always has an answer to the question presented to him. And he is also willing to work with the students that try and work for him. He very funny with a lot of geeky movie and game reference and I recommend.
Excellent Professor! My last physics class was in high school 6 years ago and I got a 95 in the class. He gives a few problems of interest for the test and if you can solve them without looking at your notes you will get an A. The labs are fun and it really helps to have a fun group. He uses great examples in his lectures so pay attention.
There are a couple of projects in this class. But other than that it was a amazing class I really enjoyed astronomy with Dr. Davis! The test were multiple choice and relativity easy. I would take this class over if I could! I really enjoyed it! (Also he is a big fan of Star Trek! and loves Science fiction!)
Mr. Davis class has been one of the eases science class I have ever taken! He only has 5 test (20 points each and drops lowest grade), one homework (20 points) and an extra credit (10 points), so even if you fail two test you can still get a B. Science is not my best class and I slept through several of his classes and got a high A!
Super easy class, instant A, had him for both Physics 1 and 2. Too easy really. I'm now taking engineering classes at UCF for my Bachelor's and really feel like he screwed me over because I did not really learn anything in that class. Gives formula sheets on tests so you don't have to memorize, but that hurts you a lot in later classes.
Super easy teacher! I knew I was going to get an A after his first test! Lectures are long and a little boring although he makes jokes all the time. Tests are super easy and he drops the lowest score. Only one easy and short paper required. If you are not into astronomy and need a class just for credit, take him for an easy A.
physics is a hard subject for me but he made it easy. lectures are very long. only thing you need to do are the POIs before the test, as test questions come from them (usually 4-5 question test) super helpful professor.
Basically you sit there the whole time and he lectures from a power point. Nice teacher and easy class. All quizzes are online and he drops the lowest one.
Goes over everything and spends forever on a topic. Lectures take up the whole class time. 5 quizzes and drops the lowest one, and one homework assignment. Over all easy class just annoyingly boring.
Great teacher and easy A! if you show up every class he wont deduct any points but literally you just show up take his notes and his notes are the tests! sooo easy
All I really did in this class was sleep (which I actually feel bad for), but Dr. Davis is a pretty cool guy and can be funny sometimes. The class is real easy as long as you show up and do the hw assignment. If you don't do the assignment, highest grade you can get is a B. 5 quizzes and some extra credit. That's about it.
Intro to Astronomy was pretty boring, though it had its moments. Dr Davis can definitely be a talker but he's an awesome dude who's passionate about his field. Easy as pie grader, literally show up to class and do the assigned quizzes (all online at home) which account for 80% of your grade AND he drops the lowest score! Definitely would take again
very nice teacher. He gets monotone every now and then. A lot of lectures. Didn't necessarily need the book. Gave 5 online quizzes and drops the lowest. Quizzes are somewhat difficult and are time consuming (your notes and google help the most). No test or final but there is a homework assignment due near the end of the term. extra credit helps u!
Very nice guy. Understanding and loves your questions. If you need a science credit but you're not a science fan definitely take Astronomy with Prof. Davis. If Astronomy isn't your cup of tea you might be bored but the class covers a broad range of topics. Only like five online quizzes and one very easy paper on a topic of your choosing. No final.
Ast 1001 is a survey class so it is super easy. there's only 5 online quizes and 1 really easy paper. this class is boring so don't take it if you're not good at paying attention. seriously i'm writing this review in his class right now i'm so bored. he is a really nice teacher though. if you have to pay for your textbooks don't bother buying it
Take this class as it is- an introductory class. There are five quizzes and on relatively easy paper. Davis lectures well, even if he occasionally goes on tangents. He knows his stuff, and covers his topic well.
Great teacher. Lots of lectures containing all the information you need to know. Take good notes. Online quizzes and one homework assignment are the only grades. Gives options for the homework-- pretty easy A. Enjoyable. I always look forward to his class. Funny, relateable, knowledgeable. I'm going to miss his class.
I had this teacher for astronomy. We took 5 online quizzes, you can sometimes look up the answers on Google, but personally I thought the quizzes we hard. His lectures are dry and boring, most of the time. You don't have to take notes but they helped me not fall asleep during class. Overall, he is an okay teacher, not terrible but not amazing.
He's got a real "professor" sense of humor. His lectures are in depth. People will say that they are "boring", but he is just being thorough. For me, I failed physics in high school because the material went over my head. Dr. Davis knows his stuff, and will stop and explain the concepts i in depth. He cares about the students and will work with you
I took Dr. Davis for Physics 1 and loved his lecture style. He covers all the material and has a sense of humor while doing it. I find Physics II less interesting than Physics I, but Dr. Davis' jokes keep the lectures entertaining. His tests can be difficult, but he does a good job of getting you ready for them and he is a decent grader.
His lectures tend to go off topic, alot. Somewhat funny guy, nice personailty. Did not need use the textbook. 5 open note quizzes. Drops lowest quiz. Easy "Homework assingment" which is a brief paper on a topic related to astronomy. Extra credit if needed. Easy A.
Long lectures every day. You do not use the textbook at all
He's a really nice guy but his class is just soooo boring. He even knows it is as but makes little effort to make it interesting. It's an easy class and an easy A, but look forward to being bored for a few hours.
So boring. The class is easy. Extra credit paper option. This guy has the most monotone voice ever. He tries to make Jokes but really he just comes off as slow and nerdy. I dread coming to this class because its so boring. But the one paper you write only has to be a page or two. Im in his class right now... ugh
He's a genuine fellow. Most monotone voice I've ever heard, though! :) (5) Take-home quizzes (Don't let them bite you!!!). Open book, note, Internet... he drops the lowest quiz. (1) Written assignment. Something "creative" about space. Required: 2 sources and 1-3pgs of writing. (1) ExCredit: Additional written assignment for +15% to your grade.
Class was super easy and Dr. Davis really cares about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable but the lectures are long and you will get sleepy super fast. You have 5 online quizzes and a 2-page homework assignment and that's it.
Nice guy that shows powerpoints every class, which are pretty interesting if you're into astronomy and space. One of my favorite aspects of the class is that there was no homework; and yet he still lectured well enough for the quizzes to be easy. There's one paper that's super easy, so do that and take good notes and you get an A.
He's great! Power points cover everything you need,he gives you ample time to copy down the information. All tests are on canvas so everything is basically open note, open anything. No textbook, went out of his way to discuss things the students had trouble with during class. Very easy to talk to, drops lowest test score, one 2 pg paper, super easy
4-5 Quizzes for the whole class along with 1 Short Essay Assignment due midway through the semester. Quizzes are based on the material he covers in the powerpoints in class. Lectures drag on and become tedious, but not because of the difficulty of the material. Tough to stay awake if you have it in the morning. Easy A class, would recommend
Absolutely loved his class. Took it over the summer and it was super easy. You get graded on 5 quizzes which you take at home and you have one homework assignment.
Does lots of examples in class, is easy to understand, uses good metaphors for those who find abstract physics concepts difficult. Teaches the subject very well. Very good teacher.
Breaks down physics into easy to understand concepts. Tests are off the problems of interest. Study those and you will do fine. Extra credit is available on every test. Labs are not bad. Only one lab is turned in for each group. Long lectures. Will definitely try to take for physics 2.
Dr. Davis is a great teacher. You can tell he's passionate about physics, and he is kind and compassionate. He always checks to make sure you understood his explanation, and he is very understanding of students' situations during the pandemic. Wonderful professor!
Really great professor and class. Lectures were always very interesting and he adapted well to the live online format. If you get anything less than an A, you didn't try even a little. 5 open book quizzes, he counts the top 4, and one 1-3 page paper with the option to write another one for extra credit. Great guy who's passionate & knowledgeable.
He is a great professor. Knows what he is talking about and will go over in depth to those who don't understand. There are more quizzes than homework but there is extra credit. ALWAYS go to his lectures (Microsoft Teams) or you won't pass. Does a few jokes here and there and tries his best to help. Lectures are boring but it's better than nothing.
First two tests were easy. Last two tests felt rushed and we never completed any problems in class until the problems of interest were given. I enjoyed Physics 1 with him more than physics 2. Luckily my major is geared more toward physics 1 than towards physics 2. Extra credit is given on all tests. Drops the low test .Labs were easy but long.
Dr Davis is a font of information that he imparted to our class with enthusiasm.
Dr. Davis is a wonderful teacher! He really understands the material he is teaching and seems to enjoy it a lot. The class is very lecture heavy but there are not a ton of quizzes or tests. They are open book/open note but you should really study because they are timed and it is hard to look everything up.
Easiest A of your life. Literally just show up and take notes from his powerpoint and use them on the quizzes and you will pass. There are 5 short online quizzes, and one 1000 word online essay. The quizzes are 25 questions each. That's it. If you are like me looking for easy elective credits, take this course. Plus you can go on ur phone in class.
really boring, easy class just go and take notes. quizzes are open book which is nice and only one paper thats like 1-2 pages long. hes got kinda a bad attitude which is annoying but not that hard of a class
Dr. Davis is a very great guy and I had him for Physics 1 and the lab that I was able to get an A but I took him this past semester for Physics 2 and I found him having a hard time staying organized. Tests were really hard due to lack of material he went over in class and spent the class going over one or two problems. Labs kept getting canceled.
He is a nice guy and goes on interesting tangents. However, his lectures can be painfully slow. He spends too much time drawing diagrams. They don't need to look nice, they just need to get the point across. Most problems in the homework and exams were too easy as well. It felt more like physics with algebra even though some calculus was used.
A very easy class especially if you need a science credit. The only complaint I have about him is that he rambles on and on about stuff that you don't need to know. I ended up doing another class work while in class. Tests are at home and 1 homework which is a writing assignment.
Easy but didn't learn. Lectures were way too slow and learned little. We spent so much time learning to do basic vector, motion and force problems that you would learn in the corequisite math class, then flew over later topics. We didn't learn anything past rotational kinematics. We did a total of 8 very confusing labs which were cancelled often.
Towards the end of the semester the class got less organized, most likely due to two unexpected hurricanes interrupting schedule. Besides that, great class. Extra credit quizzes were given out relatively often and tests reflected the ungraded homework.
nice guy you have to pretty much teach yourself everything beyond basic concepts tests are easy if you do a lot of practice problems if you study a lot you should get an a
He followed along a powerpoint for lectures and all the assignments were online. He let us choose what we wanted to do for the final! Very relaxing lectures and super easy class. He was a very sweet and understanding guy. One of my favorite professors I have ever had :)
Professor Davis is AWFUL- exessive long lectures, disregaurds time constraints, unresponsive to emails, and RUDE. No questions allowed in class. He doesnt know how to use canvas, 5 irrelevant quizes and 2 extra credit essays. He is LATE to class everyday, sometimes 10-15 minutes. Avoid this class at all costs.
This class was very easy. His class schedule is a little unorganized and his lectures are long and slow. We did 4 tests, 1 lab, and like 1 homework. His tests are open note/book , just show up to class and sit through the lectures and study for the test and youll be okay.
Professor Davis is approachable, kind, genuine, and has a lot of knowledge on physics. His tests are not difficult but they do make you think, he gives fantastic study guides that reflect the material and are beneficial. Tests are ~5 questions and youre given exactly what you need to pass. I am grateful to have had such a caring professor.
College Physics 1: Very nice teacher, goes off of power points and textbook. His lectures are long and kind of boring but his tests are open note/ open book. We only did one lab during the whole semester. Definitely would take again.
I took triple D for physics 1 and 2. His tests are open note, open computer so it's free game. I showed up to class like 5 times all semester and I got a 102% in the class. Hardly any hw and only 1 lab. He starts off every semester saying we have 4 tests but he ends up only having 3. He also drops the lowest test grade. Easy A
His lectures are so incredibly slow but he is super helpful. He definitely wants to see his student pass his course so that's a good thing. But be prepared for the lecture being so slow.
Grade consists of 75% 4 tests (low test dropped), 25% final, and extra credit. Spends too much time lecturing, and not enough on doing problems. Needs to learn how to write faster and better with the technology. Smart professor though. Problems of interest reflect test problems. The labs started off boring, but improved over time, and were easy.
His lectures are drawn out and boring with fewer problems than I would like but he's a nice professor who wants his students to pass. Four tests including the final. Extra credit opportunities. Labs were simple and fun. Tests weren't hard. I got a 60 on my first test and still got an A. Overall long lectures but good grader
Davis' class is pretty straightforward - just show up, take notes, and ace the open-book quizzes. For extra study prep, Unstuck ai and the class textbook are lifesavers. Easy A if you put in the work.
He is a SLOW presenter. I thought this would be helpful to learn the material, but we barely got halfway through the material by the end of the semester. I couldn't learn at the rate at which he talked, and the tests did not reflect all the materials that he taught. It could be good if you didn't have any prior knowledge about physics.
Lectures were painfully slow, mostly reading slides with little engagement, making it tough to stay focused. Labs were clear, but felt repetitive at times. No homework grade; your grade comes from exams and the final, based on textbook “problems of interest” given a week before. Harder than Physics 1, but manageable if you stay disciplined.
Super chill class. The class consisted of 5 unproctored multiple-choice tests, which were all done online. Also, he drops the lowest grade out of the five. Lectures were interesting, and he always gave super detailed responses to any questions people had. If you need a science credit, I'd take him.
Easiest class I have ever taken, but don't take this class if you actually want to learn. He has frustratingly slow-paced lectures, a monotone voice, and doesn't engage with students. Personally, I can't keep my eyes open in that class without working on something else. Slides from class are on canvas. He doesn't mind phones or laptops.
He only did lectures which were just slides that were reposted to Canvas and there were only 5 tests, but he drops the lowest grade. The tests are all at home, open book/open note, and online. Usually about 25-35 questions, all multiple choice. He had fun dry humor and was easy to understand.
The class is very slow. The Professor is a nice man with dry humor, but his monotone voice makes it hard to pay attention. There is no homework and 5 quizzes/tests and no final exam. The class is easy, just difficult to pay attention.
davis is an awesome guy and a great professor. hes a bit unorganized but it doesnt matter because hes so willing to help you out. if he makes a mistake he will rectify it and work with your schedule. if u need to pass physics anddont care to learn it, this is the prof. but if u do need to learn physics, hes super passionate about itand u will learn
