that guy is hilarious. he's kind of intimidating at first but once you get used to his humor he's pretty fun. the class is a piece of cake.

Odd sense of humor but the class was enjoyable.

He can be intense, but he's an excellent teacher. If you're willing to work hard you'll do well. You do have to work to pass the class. If you're lazy and don't do anything and don't show up, you will fail.

He was a really cool teacher. He wasn't too difficult. A conservative which is rare for an english teacher.

they pretty much said it all except i noticed he always wore a different tie everyday. plus he was always late a half hour or so to class. hidden website homework got me once. hes very helpful if you ask lots of questions. one time he acted out pulling an ak-47 out of a golf bag and shooting everyone in the class.

I took three classes with Dave, because he's an awesome teacher!! He is incredibly quirky (especially in Shakespeare). I absolutely loved Shakespeare with him, because he had a lot of passion for the subject and he clarifies subjects so much better than any other teacher I've had. Incredible teacher!!!

One of the easiest classes I've ever had. All I had to do was follow his outlines for essays, do my 10 minute writings each day, and take notes every day on his comical speaches. I also made fun of his Hawaiian shirts. He enjoys a sense of humor.

This class was fun. Abbott talks for the whole hour, but his comedic nature keeps the course interesting. One of my favorite courses that I have taken at CBC. Be prepared for the huge notebook that is due at the end of the quarter. I'm glad that I did not buy the textbook because we never used it.

He has to be the most unique professor I've ever had. He is incredibly intelligent and is hilarious....he's by far the best at CBC!

If your taking him I would recommend to do the journal everyday and not slack off. he requires 50 10 min journals to be due at the end of the quarter with your portfolio of everything you did in the class. He has around five essays due throughout the quarter and is a pretty tough grader. And dont go to sleep without checking your WEBCT!!

Very attractive in a professional aspect. Groomed well, mysterious, amusing and patient. I recommend this professor for any English class.

I took him online. His readings were clear and interesting. Shakespeare couldn't have been more fun.

It was a very fun class. He is REALLY wierd but funny. He will also work with you to help you pass. You work mainly with peer editing which can be good and bad. He doesnt really teach you much himself but the class still helped me. Speak up and he will like you...If he likes you you might get away with more ;) keep everything and do your journals!

He is certainly a most unique professor. He is incredibly intelligent with a bit (Ok, a lot) of comic relief. No sleeping in this class-He's Motivating! Of course he expects a lot. Pay attention to him, the stories tie together in the end. He is hilarious and bizarre, but, you will be a better person having taken his class. Not to be missed! #1

Take really good notes the first few weeks then he just has you show up and tells you to work ask questions if you have a problem. Great for adult students who already have knowledge of business style documents.

I'm not sure what others were seeing with this instructor. I found him extremely helpful, understanding, and he even had a sense of humor. He wasnt an "easy" teacher by any means, in fact his attendance and assignment policies were some of the toughest ive seen. But i'd take him again if that means anything!

Good instructor, very interesting and non traditional approach. He is not difficult as long as you put in real effort and show up for class. This class is for hardworkers so I don't recommend it if you want an easy A, but if you want to have fun and learn something, he is very entertaining.

AMAZING TEACHER! Helpful SOO funny. He's alot to handel at first because he's so cocky HOWEVER he is cocky because he's awsome and he knows it! You got to lighten up when your in his class. He puts you at ease and uses storys to back up his points. I learned so much I would take him again ANY DAY!

He is a pretty popular prof. If you go to class and write the essays, you will pass with a good grade. My problem was I took the class too early in the morning, so I had a hard time showing up. I scored almost perfect on the first trial essay, but then on the real essays I got low marks, so I'm not really sure what that was all about.

I thought he was hilarious. His sense of humor is def unique. I think he will stick with you after you take the class. His personality will conflict with people who are sensitive. If your sensitive and get your feelers hurt. Not the class. If you want bunnies and lollipops go take a differnt class.

He is an okay teacher. He is not good or bad really. Just so-so. I don't love him or hate him. I'm pretty much neutral towards him. Kind of at middle ground. He is pretty much average. Pretty much a normal teacher. Not wierd but not cool. So so I guess. The way he teaches is pretty much like you could imagine your average American professor would.

Where to begin with this guy? One of my favorite teachers at CBC ever. It's worth it just to show up for class because it's so entertaining. Unique guy. A simple way to pass the class is to show up and do the work. You'll most likely pass if you do that. By the end of the quarter you'll know that his students are his life. Would take again

Awesome dude! He has a kinda weird sense of humor, and he will be blunt...but the essays are simple and he grades relatively easy. I would/am taking him again... Shakespeare. Spring quarter. He is a great teacher and i def recommend.

What can I say about Dave Abbott? He is my favorite teacher so far. I am currently taking a second class from him. He cares about his students and is passionate about the subjects he teaches. He has an awesome sense of humor. You either get him or you don't. I am planning on taking a 3rd class from him sometime next fall.

This is my second quarter taking one of his classes, I came back for a reason. He has an odd, somewhat sick sense of humor but he still makes you laugh. He explains Shakespeare very well, and for 101 he tells you exactly what to do along with giving plenty of examples online.

Abbot is a bit odd, but he is a good teacher. When you have a question, he will answer them. you have to make sure that you get all of your homework in, which is not that hard to do. Also make sure that you read all of the instructions.

This guy is a great teacher! I've had many English teachers but Abbott is really cool. It's nice to know that the hard work you put in is going to pay off. If you show up, do the work, and pass the final...you pass with a good grade.

This is my second quarter with Abbott as well and I enjoyed this class as much as my prior class...maybe a little bit more. He's still just as crazy(maybe a little more) and if you show up and do the work, you'll pass. I took Shakespeare and it was extremely enlightening and entertaining. I learned a lot. I highly recommend him.

A great teacher with witty humor. I had him for tech writing. He is very well respected because of his policies and teaching style. I personally loved the fact that he was not afraid of speaking his mind about current issues and normally red-flag topics such as gun control.

I took tech writing last Fall. Great class, his humor balanced out the monotony of tech writing, something I really needed to make it through such a dry subject and pay attention. I really appreciated a break from the political spew from the mindless masses that most instructors parrot. Info from this class is useful if you have a job, or plan to.

Great with engaging class and sharing thoughts about material. Keeps students interested and active...really enjoyed the class...

He is helpful, but student must be willing to ask and be persistent. He will works with students that have accommodations. Not a class for slacking off. Be prepared to write on subjects that are controversial. All in all he is scary as heck, but a great teacher.

I didn't use the book once. Don't waste your money. If you have the same sense of humor, you'll like him. If not, change classes. A lot of ppl in my class didn't like him. I loved his since of humor. Funny guy. :o)

I really liked this teacher! He's helpful if you have questions, and asks the class if they have questions, has a very strange sense of humor, but a sense of humor nonetheless, and is kind of scary, but he's not a terrible guy at all. Don't need the text book. His Shakespeare class is great, too!! But don't be a slacker in this classes.

This teacher has his benefits and flaws. He provides a lot of useful information, but half the class is spent talking about things that are unrelated to the class. He once spent a whole day showing us pictures of his dogs. He is very politically conservative and his office is a pigsty. If you enjoy fannying about and wasting time, take his class.

Had my doubts when I saw the class info on Angel but first day was great. For a entry level English class I learned a lot, As to the dog pictures he used those to illustrate a concept. You need to pay attention in this class things that appear not relevant are. Once again Great Teacher :)

Took my third class with Abbott (Tech Writing) and it was by far the most difficult, but by showing up and doing the work, I still got a 4.0. His personality makes class interesting and he actually taught me more about MS Word than my computer class. As always, show up, show interest and do the work, and you'll do great. Well worth taking.

Took Shakespeare with him. Pay attention in class and read the texts and you'll get an A. I was scared I would get a bad grade, but I ended up with a 4.0. Funny guy and a little weird, but really nice!

Great class and great teacher! If you show up, listen to what the assignment is, and do it...there should be no problem. I didn't use the textbook at all, so that's not necessary unless you don't know anything about writing. He is very willing to help out, so ask questions if you need to!

This teacher is extremely helpful and will guide you step by step through anything. Mr. Abbot isn't easy, he forces the brain to think about the situation. Overall he is funny and makes the class interesting and holds your attention.

Abbott is a kick in the pants. At first you think he is crazy but he cares and is a really nice teacher. Very helpful if you ask. Makes your work, but it is all worth it. Do you assingments and journals and you will be fine.

He comes off as completely crazy at first, and is very obviously conservative, but he's actually a good teacher. He is actually very interested in helping his students pass his class and is more than willing to give assistance as needed. His prompts were awful, but that seems to be the case in most English classes. Don't bother with the text book.

Funny and okay Teacher, just do what he says on the essays and you'll be alright. Also be sure to keep up on the Journal entries!

This guy is hilarious. Got him for Intro to Shakespeare my first fall quarter, loved him so much I'm making sure to get him for ENG 101 in winter. He answers questions, there's reading outside class, but in class you watch movies. One essay at the end of the quarter.

This man will keep your attention, helps students learn to learn, and that is a good thing!

I loved this teacher! I had him for english composition and the class was easy. About one essay every other week, but it was easy to get a good grade them. Listen to his advice on the essays and keep up with the journals and you will be good.

Abbott is really funny but kind of crazy, in a good way though. You have to write a lot in his class, but hello it's english. I learned a lot of new things but basically this class is lots of essays. I would highly suggest this class because the teacher is awesome and keeps things interesting. Don't procrastine though!!!(like me, still got 3.5)

Helps out in anyway that he can. He is a little wild and speaks his mind about what he likes and doesn't like. If you get upset about someone's opinion then this is not the class for you.

This is my favorite teacher at CBC! He is a different kind of teacher, in the best way possible. I've had him for on campus and online and I even enjoy his lectures online. Every time I ask him a question he always tries to answer it to the fullest. Online he replies the same or early the next day. I will always try to get a class that he teaches!

Good overall teacher, he knows his stuff and has good lectures. He expects you to be in class ontime and pay attention. Just show up every day on time, do your work to the best you can and you will pass this class. You do have to write journal entrys (with a word count log) and if I recall it was 50 which isn't real hard. Fair and honest!

Dave Abbott is a wonderful professor with lots of knowledge about his profession. He says what he means and means what he says. I would recommend for everyone to experience the Abbott!!

Love this professor! I may not agree with all his political opinions, but I suspect he was as open as he was to spur critical thinking and relevant class discussions. I definitely came out of his class with improved writing skills and a greater appreciation of proper sentence structure....and had a great time learning to boot! Highly recommend!

Abbot is a straight up Gangster. he's a fun teacher and seems crazy but he's very funny. You can only miss 8 days of class before he drops you but it's an easy class to go to. only 4 essays throughout the quarter and he gives you time in class to work with groups and he leaves comments on rough drafts so you know what to fix. Awesome Teacher!!!!!

Overall though, he is a good teacher and I learned a lot And do the journals before the last day of quarter or you will be in trouble.

Abbott is an odd fellow who barks but doesn’t bite. Show respect and get respect. He may seem strange and even a bit scary at first, but he is a good teacher with a heart of gold. Attendance is a big deal, 50 journal entries required, and 5 essays(one in class). Thoroughly enjoyed his class and wish that he tough 102.

LOVE MR. ABBOTT. He's such a goof ball. Glasses never leave his head, so don't ask. 50 journal entires by the end of the quater. Don't forget to do them, it comes up quick. Never a dull moment. Do the work, show up, take notes, write good essays, and you'll be fine. He truly cares about his students. Ended class with a 3.9.

he's the nicest, coolest, most down to earth instructor. if you have questions, he's there to clarify and help. he is funny, but a great instructor as far as teaching the material. a little intimidating at first, but no biggie! got a 3.5 in the class, essays were interesting topics & he provided loads of good info for all sides of essays!

Mr. Abbott has the sense of humor where he waits for the class to get the joke and then he laughs with you. Great guy, very helpful and keeps the class entertained. One reminder is to NOT bring up any controversial government topics. He will have a debate with you. Overall easy class with fun essay topics.

TAKE INTRO TO SHAKESPEARE WITH DAVE ABBOTT!! He is wonderful. One of the best classes I have ever had. He is hilarious and really helps make the bard relatable. Some of his movies are out of date, but you can find newer versions if you are interested. I learned so much!!!

Not your typical instructor. Not afraid to tell it how it is. The class is challenging, but Mr. Abbott is extremely helpful. He is a really good guy once you get to know him. He is also really funny, in a different way, which helped make the class much more enjoyable. Would recommend Mr. Abbott to anyone.

VERY SMART

I absolutely loved Dave. The first week I was a little unsure but after that he grew on me and I knew he was a keeper! If you are closed minded or an extreme Dem, you may not agree with a lot of what he has to say. He also may make you look dumb..... if you are..... Just don't ask stupid questions. He's funny but you have to get his level of humor.

Abbott is a great professor, but I wouldn't suggest taking any of his courses if you are a liberal and easily offended. His lectures mainly consist of information that's already online, but he spices it up with humor. Do the work, do it well, and be on time; you'll do just fine.

Almost all we did was talk about gun laws and other politics. I don't feel like I learned anything substantial about English and writing. He's an interesting guy, but he rants a lot about things that shouldn't be talked about in the class. Make sure you do the journals when you're supposed to.

Mr. Abbott is the only teacher I would ever take another english class with. The guy is a fantastic teacher and gives a crap way more than any other teacher I have had. Do your jounals, show up to class, and do your essays and there is no way you can fail.

Professor Abbot expects you to participate. He's got a strange sense of humor but after a few days you don't notice the strangeness anymore....:) If you need help, he is right there for you. Participation, doing the work assigned and paying attention to what he expects will get you a pass. Tech Writing has been useful to me in my other classes.

This course was fantastic. He's hilarious, engages in the text and the subject matter, and makes class so much fun. Show up to class (most of the time), turn in your journals and take the quizzes (which are all online), and you will pass, easy. And on top of that, you'll have a great time.

I wasn't a huge fan. He is a very nice man, however, he was extremely hard to follow. He would begin talking about one thing and then flip over to something else without any warning. His teaching style is a little bit confusing and hard to follow. He also doesn't seem too keen on helping when a student reaches out.

Tells you what to expect since day 1. Can easily email him with questions. Good lectures and funny moments in class. If you get offended easily, don't take this class.

Don't take any other teacher for Eng101. You can thank me later. He is hilarious and all you have to do is relax, pay attention to the discussions which many students think are off topic but trust me they are not off topic, and finally just take notes. You are assigned fifty 10 minute writes throughout the quarter with also 6 easy, explained essays

Only class for the Summer. A bit kooky but very good at his job. He clearly enjoys his class and strives for students success. Papers will be long, but what can you expect from a language class?

I had English 220 - Intro to Shakespeare and also English 101 - Composition and he was a wonderful teacher both times. He was very quick to explain things and has a lot of stories to tell - sometimes relevant, sometimes not. Just beware that he's also very opinionated, especially about the government and sometimes it comes off as a definitive fact.

If you don't get offended by political talk and jokes, this class is actually very good if you can look past those things. He is a great professor and goes over everything you need to know about technical writing in his lectures. He takes time to work with students. Simply show up, do the assignments and turn them in on time and you will pass.

I first had the chance of meeting him when my boyfriend was taking his Shakespeare class on the two days i didn't have class he would let me sit in his class instead of out in the hall doing homework. now i have had the chance to take his english 101 class and i am beyond excited!!! he loves hello kitty but thats a secret!!

Mr. Abbott is my favorite teacher i have ever had at any level of schooling. He taught me a lot about writing, and even more about myself. He is very caring, even if he does not seem like it at first. He has a great sense of humor. He is basically like the really cool grandpa you wish was yours. Mr. Abbott is a teacher id take again in a heartbeat.
