ABSOLUTEY INCOMPETENT. PREACHES HIS OWN PERSONAL AGENDA THROUGH ASSIGNMENTS. QUESTIONS ON TESTS AREN'T EVEN IN ASSIGNED READINGS. VERY UNHELPFUL TO QUESTIONS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
If you’re interested in history HIST17B won’t be a problem, but for a non-interested person seeking an easy general-ed class, go somewhere else. Plenty of homework in this class, each week. I don’t know how his on-campus assignments go, but for the internet portion it’s a substantial amount of work each week.
i took the class a couple years ago, but i remember it beingokay. u should read the chapters, all the answers r n the book. then study what u got wrong 4 the final
Class was a little harder than was needed. Multiple choice questions were too hard.
I don't see why so many people dislike Bush. All that he asks of you is to actually do the work. If you're lazy or you don't like to sit down and read the textbook, this is not the class for you, it's crucial to read the text and diligently do the assignments. On the other hand, if you want to learn history, then Bush is the teacher you want.
Lots of reading for this class, which drives me nuts. I have to be honest tho, the teacher does work with you.
His class is pretty hard. I love history so I was looking forward to it. I did learn a lot, but the work load was difficult. He's fairly interactive with students and is helpful. Be prepared for lots of reading and studying.
Questions on quizes range from ambigiously worded to having more than one plausible answer presented in the multiple choice field. It doesn't feel like you're tested on what you actually know or have learned.
took this class online and it was ok. There is a lot of reading and then you just take a quiz on each chapter. You also have to participate in discussions. For the most part, not too bad of a class.
Nice teacher, easy grader for essays, quizzes include questions from chapters not learned yet, final exam way too hard, questions on little stuff, not major concepts, not enough time for all the questions. He gives which chapter it could be located in but sometimes is the wrong one. Lots of work in this online class.
Always responds to emails and is clear with expectations. Follow directions and you'll get a good grade. Text is interesting. He requires participation over several different days in a week. The work is not that difficult though you must be consistent over the course. A great class to take online in the summer. You avoid reading the two books.
Overall this online course was easy, you could receive a decent grade even if you didn't post every week. Quizzes are easy, just study what's on the study guides. Chapters are long, but you can skip everything that's not on the study guide. Teacher responses to emails quickly. Down side-not knowing your grade, unless you calculate it yourself.
Took his online history class. He emailed every single week with little reminders and notifications, so that there was no way you could forget to post or do an exam. He replied very quickly, and his material was very well organized. I highly recommend him!
Great professor, Just do the work.
If you utilize his chapter study guides, you will do fine on his quiz’s. There is no final. There is one essay, and for the most part Mr. Bush is very organized. Fair grader and responds promptly. I would take his HIST17b. Additionally, participation is key in this class!
I took this class online. This class is easy if you don't have a lot going on. The assignments are super easy but you have to log on at least 3 times a week. I struggled because I couldn't remember to log on all the time to post the little assignments. Also, read the book for the quizzes you can't find them online. Very nice guy!
Nice guy. Lots of detail in his instructions and grading rubrics, so read it all or you'll be screwed on the details. The class is an easy B, but to get an A you will have to pay attention to a lot of minutia in a poorly written book (you will not have time to look up the answer to that one question you forgot on the quiz before the time runs out.
Professor Bush is extremely clear in communicating his expectations. If you are able to take his class you won't regret it. As long as you are willing to put in the effort, you should be able to do well.
I didn't particularly enjoy this class, it was possibly my least favorite I've taken at Shasta. The textbook was incredibly boring, and the (many) quizzes required you to memorize small, seemingly meaningless details in order to pass. This is definitely not the class for you if you're more of a writer than a test-taker.
Mr. Bush provides students with clear instructions to pass the class. However, you must do the assigned reading and required weekly posts to be successful. The quiz study guides are very helpful!
This is a quality online history class. Its manageable bit takes work. The teacher is knowledgeable. There was a paper do the had high grading standards and the open book final was very difficult. I would take another class by this professor.
very informative. took his online class and he seems exuberant as a professor, which is great and helps me get more involved in the subject! he is quick to email back!
Good teacher, very good at keeping you informed and reminding you about upcoming due dates
I really enjoyed his class for the fact that he was very clear about what was expected of you. I took the class online and he always gave reminders about posting to the online forum and reminders about quizzes.
This is an online class that if you participate in as instructed and follow along with you will very likely get an A or a B I got a B. The weekly posing assignments were a bit time consuming, but also very helpful with grading due to the point value. Overall, this is not a difficult class to pass and I learned a lot.
Dave Bush is the best Shasta College online professor I have had so far! His course was very clear and straightforward, and he made it engaging with discussions, documentary films, and novels in addition to the usual textbook readings. He is very helpful and up to date in his knowledge.
Must read the textbook and assigned books. Quizzes are straight forward if you thoroughly read the chapters. Make sure to participate in discussions.
There is a 10 question quiz at the end of every week. Hard final... Two or three papers. Dave was always clear with instructions, and very helpful. I liked that he always emailed us to give us a heads up about upcoming assignments. You have to log on three different times a week and post in the discussions. Good class if you put in the time.
Instead of learning about history you get to have his liberal bias agenda pushed down your throat. I respect his political opinions but I'm here to learn, and not about your political opinions
This class requires lots of reading and time management. Your grade mainly relies on participation (3 posts minimum per week, but spaced out), two huge essays, weekly quizzes that are impossible to pass if you haven't carefully read the chapter, and the cumulative final. He is a tough grader and often doesn't explain why he marks you down.
Totally doable online class. Enough work, but he makes the discussions easy with his format.
Always love a class with Dave! He's the best. Take his chapter outlines seriously and you will do well.
Any questions you Mr. Bush us more than will to answer it.
Wonderful teacher! Even though I failed the class due to unforeseen circumstances causing multiple missed assignments and provoking my loss of participation towards the end. I definitely prefer in-person classes best, I've learned.
Wonderful teacher! Even though I failed the class due to unforeseen circumstances causing multiple missed assignments and provoking my loss of participation towards the end. All my bad though. I definitely prefer in-person classes best, I've learned.
Dave Bush was an excellent teacher for the online history class that I recently took. He gave prior notice to each of the upcoming assignments and due dates. He actually participated in the discussions and I would definitely recommend him when choosing a class!
David Bush was a good teacher and would definitely recommend for US History. He answers questions and also gives good feedback.
This class required a lot of reading, which included readings in both our textbook and in our class book "The Jungle." The quizzes were short with plenty of time to take them, and if you read then they aren't too difficult. There was one essay and Dave graded it fairly. Overall the class demands about an hour and a half of work each day to get an A
Dave definitely seemed like a really cool guy. He treated the class more as friends than students. You need to stay up to date on the reading which is kind of hard because the chapters are long and boring, but they're bearable. As long as you do good on the quizzes and actually try on the essay you'll do good in the class.
It was a great course and I'm happy I was able to learn about history while freeing up next year's high school schedule. I didn't necessarily enjoy the class (history has always been one of my least favorite subjects) but I understand the importance of history and thoroughly appreciate having Professor Bush.
Class announcements were updated regularly so it was explained clearly what had to be accomplished for each assignment or week. The class required quite a bit of reading and lots of participation in discussions but it was manageable and not too hard. Bush is a good choice if you decide to take History 17B online.
Mr. Bush is a great professor. 10/10 would recommend. Make sure to do all your assignments. I didn't do the one major writing assignment but still passed the course with a C. If I had done the paper, I would've gotten an A. He's really funny and is available if you need any kind of help.
Awesome teacher, who cares about his students. Beware for special extra credit opportunity's that will pop up. Read read read. Take notes. Bookmark the topics in your book as you go along. Be ready for the test. Don't give up.
Had an amazing time in this class. Prof. Bush is more than willing to work with you. If you need help, he is more than willing to offer all that he can. One of the best classes I've taken in organization. Definately will take more of his classes in the future!
He offered good feedback on assignments, interacted with students regularly, and kept us up to date on the class.
He was a great teacher with good feedback and an easy to follow set of expectations and assignments to follow. There was a lot of reading, to be expected, and he grades harshly on grammar and has a really hard final. It was hard to maintain your grade if you did poorly on an assignment, but he had some extra credit too.
Mr. Bush was a hard-working teacher. He really made his students work and participate in the class to get a good grade. What made his teaching ways different than other teachers was that he would respond to his students and also create more questions to keep his students informed.
Mr. Bush was a hard-working teacher. He really made his students work and participate in the class to get a good grade. What made his teaching ways different than other teachers was that he would respond to his students and also create more questions to keep his students informed. I really enjoyed being in his summer 2016 class.
Funny, easy, and fairly graded. I would definitely recommend for high schoolers like me. It worked well with my summer sports schedule too.
Mr. Bush is a good teacher. It is clear that he enjoys teaching and wants to hear what his students have to say. Often times when you answer his question in a discussion board he'll give a follow up question which shows that he really pays attention. He's also pretty funny, albeit in a cheesy way. I recommend taking his class.
Mr. Bush made class fun and entertaining. Definently would take a class from him again.
No study guide for test. Not clear instructions
It was a very reasonable class and clear instructions provided by Mr. Bush.
Not very clear. Made the class seem easy but then nails you with the final.
Do not take this professor. Horrible
I took this class summer of 2015. Instructor had information hidden. You had to go through layers to figure out what the assignments were. I have taken 8 classes at Shasta College and this was my first and only C due to how confusing the class was.
This teachers instructions were very difficult to understand. I had to keep going back and read the syllabus to figure out what he wanted. He made things sound so simple and that he would grade easy but when it came to the end of the class the final was really hard with no study guide and little amount of time to do it. Grade dropped drastically.
Not clear at all and no study guides for the test.
Instructions were very hard to figure out. Made class seem easy at first.
The class seemed good at first and the professor really cool, but the final was really hard and not based on the previous tests and the worst part was the discussions. The teacher at the end only had you post 5 of them to a paper because he was to lazy to read them each week. I thought that was ridiculous since we spent each week working hard.
Very confusing. Not clear with his expectations and class work. When you try to talk to him about it he is not willing to compromise even though he was unclear. Final was super hard and less time was given for the test.
Mr. Bush comes off easy but this was the first college class that I have received a B in. I blame most of that on his unclear assignments and the final. No study guide and the time was almost cut in half from what we used to get on the quiz. Plus questions were on chapters that we did not cover.
Not very clear
DO NOT USE THIS PROFESSOR! Unwilling to work with you, Final is only available for 48 hours and is limited to 75 minutes. Only class I have ever received an F in all others were A's and B's. Horrible experience. Unclear grading, and requires you to long on every 24 hours to complete discussions. I highly recommend finding another professor.
Great class with a lot of interesting information, make sure to participate in discussions and put effort into all posts. while each discussion post is not graded the quality of them will matter for your mid term and final, because you don't know the date ranges he will select.
Be prepared for lots of reading. I read 1 textbook and 2 novels cover to cover for this one class. The grade is mostly made of tests. If you actually do the reading you should pass the class. Be sure to keep your notes on each chapter and quiz. You will need it for the final 100 point test. If your not afraid of reading this is a great class.
Syllabus and assignment schedule was clear. Very helpful and engaging. Must be ready to read. Follow the expectations in the grading rubric and you will do well.
Worst instructor. Unclear grading system. Confusing.
Did not give clear instructions
Mr. Bush is a phenomenal instructor. His history classes are so interesting and never boring. He truly cares about his student's success and is very supportive. This online course is very student-friendly and he is always available to help you quickly. If you follow his directions and complete your work you will earn a good grade and learn a lot!
Dave Bush is a great professor. He slides funny jokes into the tests, and he makes sure that you are aware of what assignments you have to do.
Great teacher. Great extra credit questions, which are common sense. I can't wait to take another course ;)
Bush is excellent, my favorite so far at Shasta. His course is well orginized, books he teaches are very readable. He's very attentive to students, caring - he wants you to succeed. That's what I liked about him most. As a human being he's an A+. Take the time to write a good paper, they are short papers, but he's notices if you half-ass the paper.
Not clear on what he wants
Course & assignment directions are unusually long, confusing and need to navigate course modules at length to access all the resources, more than other online classes. Essay grading felt unfair, any English or grammar errors resulted in multiple points taken off for one offense. Essay format requirements were confusing so ask questions.
Good dude.
Make sure you do the first discussions every week on time otherwise you will get points taken away. The essay was graded crazy, he graded very hard. It was worth the most points. Test was very up forward, if you read the chapter you will do amazing. Mr. Bush gives extra credit and lets you turn most things in late by a day.
The teacher was really awesome. Lots of reminders when things were due. Very clear syllabus. Gave plenty of notice when things were due. A very fair grader and is always willing to answer any question you might have. I would highly recommend this class with this teacher. More than willing to work with students. Very fair grading system as well.
The one thing I did not like about the class was that he gave weekly discussion assignments and did not grade them until the end of the class. So you did not know how you did on them until he graded them all at once. The bad part about that is he does not have many assignments in the grade book so the 40 point assignment is big in the class.
Great at answering questions. Has very funny sense of humor. Not afraid to say he messed up.
Has a good sense of humor, and it's a easy course. Would recommend for anyone who needs to take history.
Very funny teacher. Everything he grades is worth double because it was a summer class so it was easy to fall behind. His discussion grading is a little confusing, just make sure you read the instructions and refer back to the syllabus and be sure to not leave anything out because you will get points marked off.
Dave Bush is a great professor. He made history interesting and he makes you laugh throughout the whole semester. I would tell anyone to take his classes.
Sends reminders daily about assignments, very repetitive, not in 7th grade. Instructions often contradictory. Told class to ask questions about an essay assignment. Questions were not answered until the due date.
I enjoyed the class. You definitely had to read the coursework and participation was essential for a decent grade. Mr. Bush was great at reminding us every week what needed to be done and I enjoyed his sense of humor.
Mr. Bush is a wonderful teacher who really cares about his students. I recommend everyone to take his classes.
Mr. Bush will always get back to you with any questions that you may have. He will work with you if you are having trouble in his class. He is straight forward about his grading.
David made history, a subject I do not prefer, an enjoyable class to take. He was always flexible and was always there to help when you needed it. The readings for interesting and the discussions were enlightening. I would very much recommend his class and I would definitely take another one of his classes.
I really loved having you as a teacher, and I think you are an amazing professor.
Dave was a great professor and has an amazing sense of humor that makes quizzes and assignments a bit more fun than they normally would be. He graded VERY SPECIFICALLY and drastically so be prepared for your grade to drop a letter simply because of a spelling or grammar error in an essay.
Took his online class a summer ago, aced everything until it came to the final essay, he gave me a D. Lowest score I have ever gotten on an essay, even from English classes. This one slip up screwed my entire grade.
I would add to question 8 that David Bush is hilarious and yes, get ready to read. I have never read so much in my life. But his teaching technique is really effective. After three and a half years at Shasta College, I can honestly say, what I learned in Mr Bush's class will stay with me forever. Not just the curriculum, his compassion for students
David Bush is my favorite history instructor yet. He does have a lot for you to read but all of the information was very interesting. Hey also has 5 life happens extra credit quizzes throughout the class. And finally, he is just a really funny and understandable professor.
A lot of reading, but worth it. Youll be reading 2/3 chapters a week (during the summer course, at least). You will have to read a book and write an essay, but writing the essay was relatively easy and had a very detailed criteria. You get to watch History Documentaries, which are interesting, and the discussions are relatively easy as well.
Beware of the grading system! It doesn't matter if you have a solid A in the class, the one essay assignment at the end of the semester could completely derail that. I had a 96% in the class (mostly A's on all weekly quizzes and discussions), and within the last three weeks of class was brought down to a low B due to the one short essay.
He allowed me to submit an assignment that was way past the due date so i was able to pass the class :). Very caring professor
Make sure you do your posts, professor bush will do everything he can do to help you pass but you have to show him you want it. Willing to go above and beyond and is very generous towards his students. I got a C because I was super lazy and he still helped me out.
Great sense of humor. Very understanding!
Mr. Bush is a great teacher, and as far as I can tell, a pretty great guy all around. None of the work in the class felt too hard, and anybody can do the class as long as they look at the study guides. Mr. Bush also quickly responds to messages and will remind you if you are running out of time for a test or quiz. All around great and funny teacher
He gives a lot of tests. If you don't do the assigned reading you will fail. But it balances out with how much he cares. He is very understanding when it comes to grades, and is very willing to work with you. He does whatever he can to help you pass, but he doesn't make it easy. He thinks that if you really want the grade, you need to get it.
Mr. Bush is a wonderful professor! Hes is very understanding yet takes pride in the subject he is teaching. I would take one of his classes again any day!
I really enjoyed professor bushes class he was able to make a online class engaging and the jokes on each message where always a delight. And he's always willing to message back and tries Jo's best to help you pass
Mr. Bush's online class was well organized and easy to navigate. You need both books he tells you to get otherwise you will not not do well on the weekly quizzes. These are pretty easy as well as the weekly writing assignments. Enjoyed how chill his class was and would definitely recommend his class.
Professor Bush is extremely helpful and very attentive. He makes sure to always respond to your emails and will help you whenever you need it. He made sure I stayed on top of work and sent out reminders weekly which I thought was helpful to remember especially in the online class. I strongly recommend taking his class for History 17a.
Mr. Bush was really great, very helpful whenever I reached out to him and very understanding overall. Class definitely has work but if you participate in the discussions and keep up on the reading it's nothing impossible. Would definitely take another class!
I had barely gotten by with the bare minimum but the professor was kind enough to allow me to submit a couple of really late assignments and that bumped my grade up a bit, really helped me out.
Overall enjoyable class. However, pay close attention to assignment details and do not miss any discussion posts on films. Also theres very little wiggle room to improve grades, despite there being surprise extra credit quizzes ( be sure to check his spamming emails). So if you take the class make sure you get As on your quizzes.
He was a very nice teacher and responded very quickly if you were ever confused or having difficulty. He does give lots of work but if you turn things in when they are due it's pretty simple. He is also a very good and reasonable grader but if you don't think you deserved the grade you were given you can message him personally. It's a nice class.
Stuck to the schedule he gave at the beginning of the semester. He was consistent about the amount of work and the due dates. Class discussions were always positive and respectful.
Professor Bush is very good at making sure his students are heard, and he does a great job at ensuring excellence in his class. He provides several opportunities for extra credit when life is just not going great, and he gives helpful feedback. As long as you put in the effort and take in what he has to offer, you will ace his class!
Mr. Bush is an amazing instructor. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. There is a decent amount of homework, like you need to dedicate enough time, but it's not unreasonable. He gives you every chance to put in effort and he gives great feedback with examples of what he would like to see next time.
Bush was a great professor. His approach to social history is both concise and entertaining. Bush has very specific grading rubrics and can be tough on grading, but if you simply follow the instructions he has laid out, you'll do well. He really cares about history and his students. I hope to take another course by him in the future.
The best college professor I have ever had. It was a pleasure to work with him.
This was a very informative, fun class to take. Professor Bush was clear on grading policies and fair with grades. It is a class that requires the student to put in some work, but it is well worth it. I would definitely take this class again.
Dave was a great professor. You learn a lot of great things. He makes it fun and inviting. I would definitely take a class from him again.
PROFESSOR Dave is an amazing teacher I have ever met in my life.
He is a great professor. Love his sense of humor and even though its not in person and some texts seem to be copy and pasted, he is a personal relatable guy. I enjoyed corresponding with him through email about life. Grades hard so be ready and pay attention to detail.
Mr Bush is an incredible history professor! It's so nice to have a teacher who genuinely cares about what they teach. He's very responsive and will answer any question you send him. Both of the Textbooks were super interesting to me and the discussions are always relative to what you're doing. He's a 10/10 in my book!
This professor provides clear information through various materials and allows you to write papers by selecting multiple topics. It won't be challenging to get an A as long as you follow the rubric well in your essay. He replies very quickly and sends out encouraging emails to the class regularly. So it wasn't a boring online class at all.
David is a great professor, the only reason you would get a low grade in his class is if you were doing the bare minimum. Other than that he knows how to teach really well and has different teaching styles than other professors that really engage you to learn more. One tip I will give you if you take this class is to read the modules well.
If I could do decimals for the base ratings, it would be 4.5 and 3.5 for the professor and difficulty respectively.
This class encouraged me to learn a lot. I was conflicted about how to rate because while I didn't enjoy his teaching style If you are a history major I recommend it. However, be aware that there is a paper in this class that is worth as much as the midterm and final combined. Also, quizzes are SHORT on time. 7 questions, 7 minutes. a lil stress
It was a really in-depth look at U.S. History. I would suggest using all the materials Prof. Bush provides even though it's not required. Easy class if you put in the effort and study the textbook.
Fine prof and is willing to work with you but requires an insane amount of reading . He doesn't do many lectures and mainly relies on textbooks which are all available online for free . If you're not willing to check canvas every day you're not going to do well in this class. I did all of the work and barely passed with an A.
Prof. Bush is helpful, communicative, & full of personality. His posts/lectures are energetic & humorous, throwing in humble jokes & interacting with students swiftly. The coursework is what one should expect from a history class but his attitude towards students is what makes it great. His reminders are a lifesaver and never harsh. Truly unique.
This was a short term course but it was very thorough, lots of reading. Prof Bush is very caring, makes grading clear and concise. Participation in group discussions was a good portion of the grade. I'd take a class again by Prof Bush.
I enjoyed this class! There's a clear grading rubric for all assignments, so as long as you follow these you should be fine. There's also a lot of reading so prepare yourself for that. He's passionate about this subject and it shows in the way he teaches. Overall he was very helpful and open to questions if you have any!(P.S. always cite your work)
He was fair and outlined expectations clearly. Makes jokes to keep it light.
Prof. Bush's Hist17A was a very well-organized and constructed online class. Prof. Bush is communication is top-notch, providing constant reminders while also responding to emails quickly. He is a great history professor and online teacher. He is not an "easy" A, but if you do the required work it's not a difficult A. A fun and fair Prof.
professor bush is a very caring instructor who does his best to help his students succeed! there is a lot of reading in this course but he provides the online textbook for you! The test questions are straight forward and similar to the quizzes which you get two attempts on.He really wants you to succeed and as long as you put in the effort you will
Bush is an awesome professor. This was my first semester in college and he was totally understanding of the challenges that it carried. His curriculum is textbook heavy, but there really isn't that many assignments. I felt that his course was perfectly designed for a working student, and he really did make sure every student was doing well.
Fun and interesting class thanks to professor Bush! He cares immensely about his students and wants everyone to not only learn, but pass his class with a good grade. He takes the time to reach out if he notices a missing assignment, and tries to help you make up for it. Has a great sense of humor also! Really enjoyed my semester in his class
Professor Bush is very helpful and quick to reply to any and all questions you have! He was always clear about the assignments and what had to be done to receive full points. He took the time to give sufficient and extra instructions to help all his students succeed if they put in the work to do so.
Professor Bush was an awesome teacher. He is very willing to work with you and help you succeed. His online class consisted of discussions, quizzes, and one essay. I have never enjoyed History, but he made it very interesting! If History is a class you need, take Professor Bush.
Dave Bush is compassionate, patient, reassuring, and totally understanding of life. His assignments are reasonable. He teaches REAL, factual, and intimately scary history. This is the stuff I wish I learned in high school and before. It is very easy to achieve a good grade if you try. Also, stay in communication with him, it is very beneficial. (:
I really enjoyed this professor; he was very inspirational and encouraging offering prompt feedback. Required participation on all discussions and films which is a great thing helps you feel like part of a class instead of just someone at home working on a computer. I would recommend this teacher to someone else.
This was a great class. I learnt so much. The load was very heavy, but I did it. I would definetly take another class from Professor David Bush. Thank You
Professor Bush genuinely cares about the success of his students. I had a very difficult semester due to personal issues, but he was behind me every step of the way. Although it is a heavy courseload due to it being a compact class, his grading criteria and expectations are very clear and it is more than evident how much he cares.
Prof. Bush makes history engaging with his humor and clear expectations. The reading-heavy workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. unstuckstudy was a big help with study prep.
Pay close attention to how the class works from the start or you'll miss something. Once you get a rhythm, the class rolls smoothly. The Professor is great about responding to questions via canvas email, so don't hesitate to ask them! I learned a lot and would recommend Professor Bush to anyone taking history.
I really enjoyed Mr. Bush's class. He kept it interesting with little bouts of humor and encouragement. You can tell he really cares about his classes and his students. He does require lots of participation but it pays off and will help with absorption of information for quizzes and exams. Would 1,000% take another class of his!
I enjoyed taking Mr. Bush's class. He made history interesting through little bouts of humor and was very encouraging. It's apparent he cares about his students and his classes. Would 1,000% take his class again!
The class is very heavy with textbook and lecture readings. I hope he will incorporate video lectures in upcoming courses because they would be so helpful. He is an awesome professor who makes History a bit easier to learn about. I did not thrive because I didn't try my hardest. He's accessible out of class. The only real con is all the reading.
Looking for an easier time? This is for you. As long as you participate & read the Syllabus + Assignment rubrics, you'll do great. He'll also remind you constantly to email questions you have & about due dates so you won't forget. Obviously, there's still plenty reading, but the workload is relatively light (& this is coming from a lazier student).
He was a good teacher, but a tough grader and I'm bitter about it. His assignments for midterms and finals were stupid, and I never read any of the required materials. Otherwise, he was chill, he's definitely extroverted.
This was genuinely one of my worst experiences with a teacher at Shasta college. He goes out of his way to find made up things wrong to mark you down. He was not responsive or there for his students at all. Wouldn't recommend him.
Professor Bush did the best job of any asynchronous class I've taken. He responds with comments on every assignment, gave clear, informative directions throughout the course. This was a summer session class, so the reading/study workload was significant. To balance that Professor Bush provided numerous chapter and topic study guides and lectures.
Only take this class is you don't want to get an A. Extremely hard grader but said it was just part of 'going to college'. If you don't get the citations 100% exactly what he wants get ready to be marked down a letter grade. Optional film analysis he assigns are worth a letter grade on mid term and finals, but doesn't tell you that until the test.
He was funny and loved what he did. But there was so much reading and I felt my grades on the essays weren't fair.
He was a nice guy, he gave lots to read from the textbook, but he also gives study points, so what I would advise is that instead of reading, just search up the points he made in the book, because he only covers those things in quizzes and tests. Overall, he's a decent professor, but don't expect much help if you're taking an online class.
Very hard grader, deducts points for anything he can find. Accuses you of cheating if he doesn't like what he reads. Avoid if you care about your GPA. He assigns work that will never be graded for points and is proud of that, he says its "part of college."
The weekly lectures were interesting and clarified the readings while preparing us for quizzes. The writing assignments are similar to those in English Composition, but Professor Bush makes the class supportive and provides useful feedback. The Rubric is key to knowing what you need to do to get an “A.” It's challenging, but fun & informative.
If you want an A I wouldn't take this class. He is a very tough grader especially with citations if you don't do it perfectly. Tells you to buy the textbook when he literally has the free versions link (don't waste your money) Very heavy on reading got around it with video summarizes. Also expects you to read a book and write an essay in a week,
