Great Prof.
had him for many Poli Sci classes( the reason why i majored in poli sci at the univ) and been secertly in love with him forever!
Great Professor!
He is cool. He tries to liven up the class with his comedy. His jokes are usually bad, but that adds to the comedy sort of. He relates the subject to modern day politcs. He attempts keep his political bias to himself, and does a great job at it.

Prof. Dupree was one of the nicest professors I had at VVC. He takes a serious interest into you, as a student, and tries to help you in whatever way he can. His tests are very hard, though, but if you study the notes and the books he assigns, you will be fine.
He's very easy going and relaxed... straight to the point with a great sense of humor! He HATES late people though!
Very helpful.
Great Teacher! Willing to be helpful on any topic or question. I dreaded taking Political Science but he made it interesting. And he's a friendly teacher, one I was able to stop by through the passing semesters.

Great teacher. Took the online class. Very helpful both online and in person. Does not pick political sides like some teachers do - calls it like it is. Does not matter whether Rep or Dem. Unbiased, nonpartisan classes are hard to find these days, and this is one of them. Tests/research paper were moderately hard, teacher was FABULOUS.
Excellent Teacher
This class is one of the most easiest classes I have taken online. He really helps you and is always on top of your questions/commets. If you need a POLS class and you don't have time to take it on campus, then take him online! He has a portfolio, policy paper, and community review due about the same time and his midterm and final are on a saturday or you can make it up. Also, he has a sey schedule so you'll know what to do and when it's due.
Great communication, easily accessable.
AWESOME Professor. I had no interest in Politics until I took this class. Take him.
This is the most inconsiderate professor I've ever had! First of all, I'm taking Dupree in Winter session. I have to ask what are they paying him for?! He gives a TON of work, doesn't grade it himself as the computer does for him! He doesn't give you the results, and expects you to complete 3-months worth of work in 6-weeks! DO NOT TAKE DUPREE!
He is completely incompetent. At the beginning of the Spring term he seemed fine, but to this point he has not graded even half of the assignments he has required and he has not replied to any of my e-mails. TERRIBLE TEACHER! He relies only the text and not on his abilities!!! He makes no effort to make the online classes even remotely interesting.
"The power of the idea alone"
Prof. Dupree is the most helpul professor Ive met so far. His lectures are intersesting and he'll pull up funny you tube videos related to the topic (ie presidential bloopers). He tells funny and lame jokes all the time.
He is a great teacher. His lectures can be pretty coring sometimes, it I think it was just the material that I did not find too interesting. He has quick humor that is really funny if you pay attention. His class, I feel, is laid out very clearly.
If you are a political science major take him. Has the most hardest test i ever took in MY LIFE!!! He is a great teacher though. But he treats his students as if we are all political science majors. EXTREMLY HARD. The extra assisgnments he gives will balance out the low test scores though.
Great online class. Assignments are very easy and I took the 8 week online class so there were ALOT of assignments. He is very fair in grading, you will have to take the mid term and final exam at the college, but if you study the material (like he tells you) you should have no problem aceing the tests. He was slow at grading, fast at replying.
I took it in winter so there were only six weeks and a ton of work. However, it wasn't that bad, I didn't have the textbook, and I still somehow managed to get an A. He is nice.
Took this class online... This was an extremely hard class for me because I was not interested in the subject however Dupree is a great teacher. Must take midterm and final in class. I got D's on the Midterm & Final and F's on quizes however still received a B in the class. If you are a good writer it will outweigh the bad test grades.
Nice teacher, lots of reading and if you do the lessons the questions on the midterm and final. Study them and is should be fine. He extended the due dates a lot. There are two papers in this class, one is 3 the other is six and a half at least. He is slow on grading stuff and some questions can be confusing.
Took this class online and loved it. Mr.Dupree was an excellent instructor. All assignments made sense and were directly related to the subject matter.
Great professor. He explains things in a way that is understandable. I enjoy his POLS 103 this semester.
He is a nice and good teacher, i took a hybrid class and it was HARD. ALOT ALOT ALOT OF WORK.
the quizzes on most part were not on the outline as he said the quiz was. On Items that he actually graded and not the computer very slow to get results. Semester is over and still waiting for results from an assignment from 6 weeks ago. Emailed him several times and never received an answer. Office hours are inconsistent as went several times to t
I took him online. Not a big fan, and didnt appreciate his underlying political stance. Felt that he was trying to corrupt under his breath. I guess though if your interested in being a politician he is fine, but if your taking him for a Gen ed requirement, then you better know your Pols, and you must be a talented writer
I did not enjoy this class mostly because I found the material boring. As a result my assignments were very difficult to complete. Not to mention it was very frustrating not knowing my grade status all semester because the professor was so far behind on grading. I wouldnt recommend taking it if you dont have to.
Pretty cool guy, I like that he expresses his political views whether people like them or not. His political stance (i would think) helps people get a better perspective of what government is really like. I had his online class which was a lot of work and you had to earn your grade. I didnt get the A i wanted but I learned A LOT.
He does not teach want we need to know. Is knowledgable. Needs a lesson on teaching. I do beter on the tests when I don't attend class. He also late to class too
Dupree is a borderline neutral Instructor in my opinion. Made me feel like I was judged in my papers for not sharing his views . I understand his approach to hand out study guides and nothing on the study guide shows in the exam. he wants you to really study and prepare for the unexpected. A very sucky approach in my opinion.
I would reccomend this prof! He is smart, Cheesy and sort of refreshing. I took his class in person. I would say start his paper early and study hard for his tests. It's nice knowing the info te class provides. :)
.I took this class fall 2011 The tests were nothing that was expected. He did not prepare the students for the test. My suggestion is get the feel of the class and miss one a week for a better grade. Read the assigned text as the test questions are in there not from the lecture. I am a A, B student. I got a D in the class. :'(.
I took the online class and it was a lot of work. He didnt grade the papers quickly. He also sometimes just told us to review the syllabus instead of giving us a straight forward answer. I didnt find him helpful, but his online material is organized well. Good if your independent studier.
This Prof. was terrible. The test had nothing to do with the study requirements. If you have a full time job and are taking this class I don't recommend this teacher. The only good thing about this class is that the reading material was organized.
Dont take him! .. I was so stressed the whole semester doing homeworks, studying and going to meetings I dont know where ... and all THAT work for nothing! I got a D !!!.. He also thinks he is an english professor !! he put more attention on grammar, MLA style and all that stuff than your research information ! . never going 2 take him again
His tests weren't hard, sort of easy and he pretty much tells you what to study. Enjoyable class. Great Professor.
Dupree is a very patient, very open teacher who isn't afraid to chase after problems when a student is having issues with bad online content (unheard of at VVC). He does use Pearson's MyLab, but customizes the class with Local/State/Community projects, and quizzes issued apart from Pearson. Also, his exams are proctored and NOT ONLINE.
I highly recommend Professor Dupree's political science classes. He is a very caring professor which is rare these days. The lectures are very informative and fun. I'd say that if he didn't go into teaching, he should of done stand up comedy. Teaching method is of highest caliber and he genuinely cares about his students. You won't be disappointed.
This teacher is one of the best teachers! He is so funny & very nice. Midterm & final are the only things taken in class. 9 online timed quizzes worth 10 pts each BUT he posts the quiz with directions on where to find the answers so when you take the quiz all you have to do is transfer your answers! & one 3 page essay. TAKE DUPREE FOR POLS102 !!!
Very easy online class.
Took online class. Met him twice for Mid Term and Final. Very helpful. Allows students to get up during Finals and ask questions to be clarified. Read chapter assignments and take Chapter Tests. Just read and do the work and you will be fine.
I took his Hybrid Poli Sci 102 in the fall. He's an awesome professor. Honestly, easy class, just read, all the answers are in the book. Only thing is 3 exams and a paper, which by the way was easy because it's basically your opinion. He throws some extra credit. Very flexible when it comes to test taking days. Easy class.
He's a pretty cool guy, do all the assignments. Met him twice for the first exam and final, He's pretty funny and likes to put funny answers on the tests to make you laugh. pretty cool class overall.
Hes a good teacher but his lectures are BORING! I took him for the six week winter semester and it went by quickly. Lots of reading and online quizzes, but if you read you should pass his exams.
Dupree is the kind of teacher that honestly loves what hes teaching about, and he has this appreciation for local government which is a great thing for him to try and spread to students like me who took this class for G.E. He used to be and English major, so he grades hard on reports. Tbh, i go to him for life advice after taking his class.
I took Mr. Dupree twice. The first time I took him on campus for the same class and got a D because I'm not very good in lecture classes because of my attention difficulties. So, I retook his class online and it's been way easier. (Know what works for you!). He emails you about every due date and any updates so you are always hearing from him.
Professor Dupree is one of those teachers you can tell enjoys what he does and cares about his students. Tries to make the class enjoyable by making jokes. 3 tests and one is open book and notes, one 3 page paper. Will help after class if you have any questions. Homework wasn't bad. Do the work and you'll pass no problem. Would take again.
Prof. Dupree is definitely one of the best instructors out there for a course like this. Very easily accessible, makes each and every assignment very clear, and leaves no room for confusion. Never thought an online class could be this personable. Makes jokes constantly and keeps it fun. One easy 4-page term paper. Definitely recommended.
Good professor he never responded to and of my emails which I sent 3 of. But over all easy class work out and follow directions and will pass.
I took the class online and while there was some help on a few tests, for the most part I was rather confused when I was taking tests because the book didn't match up with his tests very well. When the entire class is about tests that tends to be an issue. If you can avoid his online class I would.
Overall the class is easy and he is very clear about what is to be expected. He sends out reminders concerning due dates. Tends to be slow on grading and his tests are a bit tough. I would recommend this class because Professor Dupree is very knowledgable in this subject and he wants his students to be successful.
Professor Dupree is a great teacher, would take him again. He really cares for his students. Be prepared to read though there are fourteen chapters that I was required to read throughout this course, but overall I enjoyed this course. Also he is very good at responding quickly to emails. He is a Professor I would highly recommend him!
Loved Prof. Dupree. He is clear on what he expects & is well organized. Do the reading and the rest is easy. The few writing assignments were fairly easy.
The test are timed. The problem with that is he tests cover 3-5 chapters of information. he gives 8-10 minutes to answer the questions. With notes, this is not enough time. He give 2 exams on campus and does not allow notes. He proctor's the exams. You need to have a photographic memory to do well. There is a lot of information to remember.
What can I say but. Do Not Take! He is outrageous with the workload, extra credit is a joke 4 points for assignments. I took him during the summer and he literally crammed 16 weeks of work into 6 weeks. He actually asked me to keep my hands on the desk during a test, I was nervous and fidgeting, very embarrassing. Tough grader.
Easy just got to put in some effort
Awesome professor, learned a very great deal, he gives lots of homework, many chapter quizes. If you do the reading you will pass the quizes, and tests, and for his tests he gives study guides for you to fill out as you read, and the test questions are directly from there. Great teacher.
Provides many opportunities to be successful in course. Gives handouts that outline chapter material & study guides for exams. Focus on the Constitution , Vocab words. Allot of reading . Several multi-chapter exams . Highly recommend not taking 8 wk class unless its your only class. Ask questions he is Extremely helpful.
Mr. Dupree was a excellent teacher, not that much homework only about 6 MindTap assignments, one community meeting review, a portfolio project exam on blackboard. There also were only three exams and one was open book/notes. The only thing I didn't like when he would stray off from the question we asked and go to a different subject in government.
I loved Mr. Dupree. Very easy class and interesting subject. There were about 2 pop quizzes in class, 6 quizzes on BB. Felt more prepared for quizzes than tests because he provided more info with documents online. Study guides for exams were a bit confusing.
Awesome instructor I would reccomend to anyone. Clear grading criteria easy going really cares
I took Professor Dupree's online class and I have to admit there was a lot of homework; however, my course was also a winter course so it was condensed. His class was manageable, but it did take some work. He also requires you to go to campus twice for your first and last exams. Even though there was a lot of work, he tried to make it fun.
He's all right at best. He's pretty cool in person, but gives loads of work during the week. just glad I passed his class but just barely.
Professor Dupree is actually a great guy and knows what hes talking about.
The class was enlightening yet challenging with the long chapters. Prof D made it slightly more easier with extra government links to info and opportunities for extra credit. He was very easy-going and quick to respond to any questions. Good teacher all around.
Very difficult teacher, tough grader and odd grade scale. So many quizzes a week! Lots of reading! The study guides for the exams are a bit confusing. The extra credit isn't even worth the time to do it. Seems like a nice guy but i won't be taking his class again.
He really tries to help you pass the class . And i felt that I really processed all the material he was teaching . I didnt really use the book and I still passed . Got very good grades on my test and he took the time to help you if you had any questions regarding hw/notes/projects/test. Highly recommend !!
Hes great. There is a lot of homework but he all but does it for you. He's funny and tried to make it as pain free as possible.
Excellent professor, he likes to help students with the assignments. The class was interesting and I learned a lot.
There was lots of content covered and it was a bit overwhelming, but Mr. Dupree is a great professor that is always available to help his students. He gives great exam review videos for the mandatory 2 you have to take on campus. Be sure to follow rubrics, study hard for each exam, and be sure to stay caught up because it is easy to fall behind.
Great Professor, very accommodating when you let him know what is going on. Genuinely is concerned if you understand the work. He does a zoom meeting for study guides on exams, I have taken him in person and online. Online was easier for me. Dad jokes in the exams. One 10 question quiz a week, chapter tests have 3 tries with more than enough time.
As long as you do what you are supposed to you should pass his class easily! Professor Dupree gives you all the material to pass the quizzes and tests. He was available and responded in a timely manner on any questions I had!
Here is a list of the things we did 1. Exams: (3 @ 100 each) 300 2. Online Exercises 10 3. Canvas Quizzes 90 4. Multi-Chapter Quizzes on Canvas 50 5. American Government Portfolio Project 75 6. Community Meeting Review 125 7. Kollman Quizzes 50 This was an easy class just READ and no zoom. took sum2020
Pretty clear on what to expect in the course. there is many quizzes which you must be prepared for. I didn't purchase the book and received decent scores on quizzes. Gives many extra credit assignments and grading scale is curved. Three large tests and 1 essay. This was my first VVC class I have taken and it wasn't too bad.
Definitely the hardest class I've taken throughout my 2 years. Nothing but tests and quizzes. I was given less time on the quizzes than there are questions (5-8 mins for 10 questions). The study guides for the 3 big exams had nothing to do with the exams and were basically no help. Zoom meetings were little help too. Very hard class in my opinion.
The professor was a cool guy but the class was tough. No matter what I did it seemed that passing wasn't doable. The exams were the hard part didn't match the study guide that was given. If you take this professor get ready because he gives test every week
Thanks quizlet (use for everything including study guides, not the exams) . Boring class. I didn't use the book and regret buying it. For the exams he gives you 2 tries for exam 1 and 2 take screenshots of the questions then find the answers to them. 3rd last exam good luck. never watched any of the videos either. awesome professor tho.
I loved this class, from his communication with the class, to making lecture fun. I cannot say this enough that if you are majoring in Poli Sci, please please please take this class, with this prof. He grades fair. Warning though, you have to care, and study. All in all, I learned a lot, and loved it. Definitely recommend.
Super funny professor, he's a genuine great guy and loves what he does. Not only is he a great professor but he will make you a great student. Took him online, and there are lots of readings and so many tests it makes your head explode. He makes you work for the grade but there are tons, and I mean TONS of extra credit, it's hard to fail.
Hes a good professor. A reasonable amount of work every week. You do have to read the textbook if you wanna pass but that isnt the worse thing in the world. Its mostly vocab tests and stuff like that, nothing horrible.
Hes a good professor. A reasonable amount of work every week. You do have to read the textbook if you wanna pass but that isnt the worse thing in the world. Its mostly vocab tests and stuff like that, nothing horrible. The only assignment that is stressful is when you have to analyzie local government meetings, which was a pain to do, but i passed.
I'll be honest, I hated political science, not due to the professor but the actual subject. However, Dupree's lessons were organized and well thought out to the point that my hatred still earned me an A. Beware of the tests, for they are extremely difficult and heavily weighted, however there are many quizlets that can help you study and prepare.
This professor is tough. I never had to rate my professor until now. I think he doesn't like to do online courses so he make it difficult so maybe he thinks he making us learn more. Oh and don't miss any tests or exams because even though the system automatically grades it he still won't make you retake it.
STUDY GUIDES ARE KEY! You will need to read the book. In addition lecturers are not politically bias, multiple extra credit opportunities and retakes/make-ups just for showing up, emails/messages you can have full conversations within a day, goes above and beyond for students, and most importantly he always has a good engaging attitude.
He is the best prof. I've had so far. He responds quickly to emails and does so with care and attention. I took the 6-week winter course so the class was difficult but doable. Lots of quizzes but he provides study guides that match the questions for most. Ones that he doesn't, you just need to read and take notes on the chapters and you'll do well.
Overall not bad, there's a final project at the end where you should spend a lot of extra time on it if you want to do well, i got lazy and paid the price for it :(
It says textbook is needed but the teacher emailed saying the book was outdated and doesn't match what we were learning in the class so he informed us to google the present events. So I didn't get the textbook and still passed. the tests are timed but not too bad he gives us a copy of test questions you just need to find the answers.
Professor Dupree's POL102 is manageable with consistent effort. Quizzes and exams are challenging, but using resources like Quizlet and unstuckstudy can really help with study prep. Attend lectures, do the readings, and you'll likely earn a solid grade.
Considering this was an online class, I didn't meet Professor Dupree in person but he was great at responding to emails or other interactions. He gave feedback on assignments and explained the grades he gave me. Although the coursework was a little heavy, it was manageable. I would recommend Professor Dupree!
