Great teahcer! You can tell he has a real passion for his subject which helped me to better learn and understand his material. His class can be tough if you don't do all the homework!

Dave rocks. Between the High Karate and the Hoyo Hoyo stick, you get to learn about all sorts of fun stuff like trade winds and lithospheric structure. If you have to take geo or meteorology, take Dave.

"Big Dave" is a wonderful teacher.He is absolutely there for the students! Just don't be too late, he'll make you sing (he he).

"Big Dave" used to embarrass my boyfriend and I in class constantly, but it was all in good fun. The material is pretty difficult, but he seems genuinely concerned in helping his students learn.

Big Dave is fantastic.

He rarely uses the textbooks, most test questions are from his lectures. Call him Big Dave, don't insult Mozart, pay attention & you will do fine. If you're late to class, he will make you sing disco. I took 3 of his classes (as an art major), was his TA for a semester, & wish he was teaching at my current school. Take any class you can with him.

Big Dave was the most fun instructor I have ever had. He made learning a boring subject fun, it even inspired me to do research on my own. Use a tape recorder, take good notes and study before a test. I never read the text (Sorry Dave) unless it was to clarify something for a test. Easy to pass. The Stagg will never be the same!!!

You have to take any of his classes! He is the best! He goes by Uncle Dave or Big Dave. But honestly....take his classes!!!

Simply put, this guy is the man. Hilarious teacher, his class is an absolute blast. He's fairly easy and will do everything he can to make sure you pass the class. The guy just cracks me up. I didn't like this guy at all for the first few weeks, then grew to like him a lot. Class is harder than you think, better show up and do your homework. Map tests are a booger.

I was freaked out by him the first day, but after the first week the whole class fell in love with him. Don't be late or you'll have to sing. Make sure you study the notes he gives. Funniest teacher hands down, the strangest things always happen in his class. He does everything he can to make sure his students succeed. Attendance is essential as the test are based off of the lecture, map test are a bit challenging but not to extreme. Great class.

He?s a pretty easy going, laid-back type of guy; he?ll even rock out to music at the beginning of class. His hair drives the ladies wild. Be sure to take lots of notes and read the text. If you flunk a test/quiz he?ll allow you to make it up with extra credit. He even has a tutor if your having trouble with the class.

Dave, is the best professor to take Geography with, he's really easy going, he helps you if needed, and his sense of humor keeps the class enjoyable. I highly recommend him to anybody that is going to take Geography if you are doing so for your General Ed.

He does teach you a lot, but the class is no were near easy at least not for me. But Rebecca the tutor is super helpful only reason I passed. He is also really helpful and gives tons of extra credit.

Dave really strives to help you - heck, in our in-class assignments he basically does the work for you. There is no homework in this class which is great if you find yourself lost doing busywork in other classes, but the tests are worth all the marks and require a good amount of studying to ace. Always lots of extra credit if you fall behind

He's a funny guy and quite helpful. His lab involves *A LOT* of a time investment for a 1 credit hour class, but it's not difficult to do.

If you want to take geography, Big Dave's class is the best. Show up to class, Never do homework! He keeps the topics fun and interesting. If there is tutoring available go to it. It will help you study the necessary topics. I did 2 hrs a week and never had to study from my book and aced every test. Do the study guides and you will be fine.

I bombed on every single test but DID try, only missed one day of class, did all the extra credit and one test got a B so instead of failing me (I had LOW D in the class) Howell gave me an incomplete and letting me take the first test again. If I get a C or higher I pass. WONDERFUL THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH!

One of the best teachers at COS but it is a hard class. He is so down to earth, fun, and funny though, and throws so much extra credit which is awesome. Be sure to attend class every day, only miss if there's an emergency. Good attendance will be your best friend in passing this course. Overall, outstanding teacher. Really going to miss him!

Took him a few summers ago, it was a great summer! I felt like he made a family out of our classroom! Everyone worked together, we sang songs and listened to great stories. Tests are hard, so always go to class and take notes! Mr. Howell wants to see you do well!

I was scared to take this class since I cannot remember the last time I took geography…But he made it fun and easy to understand the material.He provided study guides, interactive practice map quizzes available on his website.Plus, he provided several opportunities for extra credit. Big Dave is great. Funny lectures that are relatively interesting. Studying is a necessity to pass for both map quizzes and test. He is super generous with the extra credit.

Took both of his classes. He makes it as easy as possible. Practically gives all the answers to tests during review the day before. All locations for map quizzes are given. Just study and don't be lazy and getting an A is almost a given. Besides making it easy, he also makes it extremely enjoyable as he's probably the most entertaining professor.

He is Just awesome! I took him for both geo 1 and 2 and got easy As on both of them. The textbook isn't necessary but it could help. Tests are pretty tricky but as long as you record and pay attention to the study guide you'll be fine. He makes a lot of jokes and he is just so friendly.

Mr. Howell was one of the best teacher I ever had. His class is fun and I've learned so much from him. He is also very helpful when approached if you are having problems in the class. I would take him again if i had to.

Amazing instructor + very intelligent. Map quizzes are a breeze, exams are mostly easy, + TONS of extra credit. Super cool + funny guy, very laid back yet professional. Textbook could help, but I only read it to answer the study guide questions + still did great on tests. Downside: Doesn't post grades, but he did teach a LOT of classes.

Dave is awesome, funny and caring. His lectures are funny but they are also information heavy so if you miss class you'll want to get the notes. Also, read the chapters and study if you want to pass the tests. They're harder than expected. Lots of extra credit though to help your grade.

This guy is awesome, his lectures can kinda go all over the place but he really does care about his students, I mean really. As long as you show that you care about the class and do your part, you'll pass. He is FULL of energy, has a great sense of humor and you definitely wont be bored. Little to no homework but are a little difficult so study.

Great guy, you'll need to show up every day because material is about 90% in class. If you cant make it to the Three Rivers field trip then you cant pass the class so make sure you can make the trip, Again, awesome teacher, loves his students, Great Guy.

Big Dave is amazing! His lectures are information heavy but they go by quickly because he is the funniest person I've ever met! Hi class is a blast! Basically no homework. Gives you everything you need to know in the review before the exam. Gives a TON of extra credit! Almost impossible to fail. Would definitely recommend this class!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! He's a bit off the wall and crazy (in a good way). Gives tons of extra credit. His map quizzes are insane. But he's understanding. Take good notes during lecture. Just press record for his final reviews and study what he tells you to.

Hilarious instructor, lectures are funny and light-hearted. Reviews for tests are very quick, must record them. Sometimes takes a while getting to actual lectures because of the jokes, then rushes to finish. Overall, I learned a lot in this class, and you will too if you can bear the other stuff. Offers EC if you have a talent, must perform.

Dav is an odd yet funny guy. Even though his lectures on geography arent interesting, he makes class fun. There are 4 exams, including the final. There are 2 map quizzes that are pretty easy; just study for them and youll be fine. He offers so much extra credit too. I didnt like geography myself, but Im glad I took it.

Map quizzes are very easy. The fist two exams are hard, but he does offer extra credit. DO NOT miss studyguide days. Those are the days you get extra credit and review before the exam. Even if you miss it hell give you partial extra credit too. Funny guy but sometimes drifts away from the lecture. No homework. Make sure to study!

Dave is a ROCKSTAR. His high energy and insane sense of humor make what might be a pretty boring class given the subject matter extremely fun and engaging. You'll need to study for the tests but he gives you everything you need, like study guides and dedicated review class sessions, plus a ton of extra credit. Seriously, take Dave's class.

I am currently taking this class for the summer semester (Really fast paced since it's a 6 week class and its also online due to COVID). Do yourself a favor and take Mr. Howell for Geography. He has recorded lectures that literally tell you step by step how to do the papers he has assigned. i think im starting to like geography now thanks to him.

Professor Dave really knows what he is teaching. Even though it was online due to covid, I feel he really adapted well in teaching his material. His video's or slide shows we watched had all the answers to everything we needed even the exams. He is awesome and his class was the easiest class out of the 18 classes I have taken for my triple major.

I have never really understood anything about Geography but when it came to his class he made it very easy for the class to pass by stating things clearly in his lectures. Just make sure that you make time to do the Exams because they are very lengthy. But he pretty much gives you the answers so do not worry!!!

Big Dave was a great professor!! I enjoyed his geography 001 class so much! The work is SO easy. Tests are kind of long (he gives you all the answers though, so just watch his lectures). If you email a question, he gives answers super fast. He gives great feedback, and he cares about his students passing. Just do the work he give, and its so easy!

Big Dave is very clear with his lectures, very straight forward with what he is looking for in the assignments, and is an easy grader, but there is a bit of work that you need to do with understanding all the material, too (which I find to be a great thing)!

David was a cool guy just get ready for the lectures. He doesn't give our exam instead he will give out a study guide and that would count as our exam. He doesn't offer extra credit however the assignment are very easy so you probably do need it. Overall pretty essay class to take !

Professor Howell was amazing I took his class during the summer so it was fast paced but, it was a was easy course and super interesting. I learned alot about the continents and their countries so, I would recommend anyone take his classes they are easy to pass just do the work and follow his instructions.

Good teacher. His work load is not to heavy and gives you like 3 weeks to finish each module (there is about 4) Only hard part of this class would be the essays on the study guide and the crossword puzzles; takes awhile to find the answers. The book he uses is about $100.

Took Big Dave's class in spring of 2022 or Fall of 2022 and his class was the best I had ever experienced. Watch his lectures do as he asks in the lectures, do the tests/quizzes, and homework and you will do great in his class. Very informative and knowledgeable, he is always willing to help with any of the assignments, very easy-going.

I took Professor Howell this summer and he was great teacher there are several assignment that are easy. I will warn you he does not give exam instead he has you do vocabulary words and there a lot you also do a study guide and essay questions super long ....... Overall he was a great professor

Funny guy, interesting lectures, and very straightforward. I did not like how long and extra his exams were. We had to do like 60+ vocab definitions, around 20 questions, and a short essay. We had 4 of these. I took this class online, which he required us to print out the assignments and submit a picture, which I thought was very unnecessary.

Class and lectures were easy overall, the assignments were a bit unnecessarily long. Overall was a good class as long as you just make the effort in the class.

easiest online class. around 2 assignments per week, easy if you go over material, which is outdated, but hilarious, YouTube lectures that do help with assignments. would take me around an hour to complete the assignments and be done for the week. the study guides are time-consuming because they need to be self typed out which takes forever.

Professor Howell's class is straightforward - he provides helpful materials like video lessons and plenty of guidance. The workload is manageable, and Unstuckstudy can be a great study tool. Overall, a solid class choice.

Read. Read. READ. I mean it. Though the homework is doable, the part where it gets heavy is each exam, which was 3 of them. Came with loads of vocab words, 30-something questions, and on top of that essay question. If taken online, expect to print out the homework. Don't slack or you'll fall behind.

I love professor Howells teaching style. While the class is very exam heavy it's still a doable workload. He also communicates with you to make sure you understand the coursework and leaves comments for what you can improve on.
