Dave is really fun. He likes joking around with you in class and hanging out afterwards to talk. The course content is a joke, but the class is low stress. I never took notes or printed slides; I just filled out the study guide and I aced all the tests.
DAVID is the greatest! He is great to look at and an overall wonderful human being. I just love being in his presence. I get warm and fuzzy inside. I think about him a lot.
While David is a remarkable Geography teacher that possesses an incredibly broad base of knowledge, I do find myself increasingly distracted by his great bod. He's not just hot, he's STEAMY!!!
Get a grip girls. Even though he acts juvenile, he is way old. Granted, he does have an athletic body and is a nice person, and smart too, but please! He is balding, shirts are wrinkled, and there is something a bit odd about a 40ish man hanging with students all the time.
Jennings a really cool teacher and jokes around with the students a lot!!! He also trys to give us extra points all the time!!!
Most enjoyable class since i started school here. Some good discussions, lots of stories and explanations, very helpful study guides, and plenty of goofing off during lectures. His tests aren't hard at all as long as you pay attention and work the study guides.
Jennings is probably the best professor I have ever had. I could care less what the guy looks like, girls; but what I do know is his landforms class is hard and he took the time to help with anyone who needed help and that's what it's all about. I wish all my professors had been this interesting.
Dave is a great intsructor with a fabulous sense of humor. A shame he isn't teaching a wider variety of courses...
I loved his class. He tests straight from the study guides. Print them and fill them out. You will ace the tests.
"Diamond" Dave is the man. Take him for any class you can. Do the study guides and you'll be fine. But you will actually enjoy going to his class. He should have his own sitcom.
I'm enjoying this class. Mr. Jennings is fun and interesting. Do the study guides, pay attention, and you'll do ok.
i had to drop the class because he was dropping his body like it was hot. one of the last true hard bodies in education.
the power of his "toe" is what kept me cuming to class.
Very easy class, tests are straight from the study guides and he makes it interesting.
Easy my butt! I worked hard to get a decent grade out of this class (a B). He is a good teacher though. He kept my intersest all semester which is hard to do. All in all, I really enjoyed actually learning something that I can see in my day to day life. He does give study guides but they are long and hard. I'd take him again.
I had him for GEOG 1012, 1110, 1120. I chose him for all the GEOG i needed mainly because he was not that hard. I think he was easier because he made the subject very fun. He was very laid back and always gives study guides for the test. If you see him around he will always say Hey and loves getting off the subject about something funny.
Jennings is awesome. Like people are saying: if you go to class and do the study guides, you can get an A easily. Plus, his notes are on blackboard and he offers extra credit (5 points each day you check it) for checking the weather station.
Jennings is awesome but i didn't think he was so easy. It's like the person below said he makes the class interesting and that makes it easier. He did give a study guide but the thing is big. I would take him again.
his classes are so hard!!!!! i had to drink before tests so i didn't freak out!!! and it didn't help to have him infront of me with his big meaty body!!!! can't live with him can't live with out him!!!
Too opinionated! This man is related to the inventor of corn, he was in a movie, and he knows "everything." If you believe him you'll be fine. I personally do not and find him annoying!
Whoever says that Dave was hard apparently has an IQ of about 12. Dave is great. He is hilarious in class and very personable. He hands out a "study guide" aka "copy of the test" before all tests, including the final. He's smart about what he's teaching, and he's very sweet and willing if you need some extra help. Lowest stress class ever.
Great teacher, knows his stuff! Do his study guide, read the text, come to class. That simple. goes out of his way to help. The best part, He's still a "college kid" at heart...so dont encourage him. Take his class even if its just to hear his stories, ask about his crazy dog and trips to Australia.
Great professor. Real knowledgeable about his stuff. Come to class, take notes, work the study guide and you will do just fine. Rambles on about Austrailia a bit to much at times but tells funny stories about his adventures there. Grin and bear it! Small price to pay for a class that with a little work can boost your GPA.
too hot to handle!
Easy class but very boring.
Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. I thought he was knowledgeable, interesting, and nice - a rare thing on this campus. I thought the tests were pretty hard but he gave us a chance to better our grade with more work. I would definitely recommend him for any Geography class. By the way, not bad to look at either.
Dave is great. One the most personable teachers out there. Relaxed and comfortable class setting. Believes in what he teaches. I guess he would be hot if I swung that way, but I'm not gay. I recommend any of his classes to anyone. Show up and show some interest and you will do well.
great
Very easy class. Great.
I think he is a great teacher and I did enjoy this class...the only thing is he does ramble on quiet a bit!! He is a very nice man though!!
Great teacher. Very helpful and informative.
Dave is awesome! He is one of the nicest teachers out there and will do anything to help any student. I would tell any student to take his class!
This class is easy. It is possible for some people to pass by sleeping through the course. I just watched the lectures and wrote down things that I didn't know or that I thought needed reinforcing. The lab section of the class is a real joke because it barely exists. If you need a science course and want to put in little effort, this is it.
This is an extremely easy class but is also very boring. After the first test when I made a 102 without taking any notes I completely stopped listening to him ramble. You don't need to buy the book.Do the study guide sometime before the test using powerpoint and you will easily get an A. Bring something to keep yourself from being bored.
Dave Jennings is an amazing teacher. Not only do you learn about Geography, but you learn a lot about many other different odds and ins. Any class he teaches is a must take. Some people say he rambles, but those are just people who do not care about learning multiple things outside of the subject. Everything he says is fun to listen to .
Dave is one of the best professors on this campus. He bends over backwards for you-all you need to do is show respect. I definitely recommend him to anyone! I only wish he taught GIS and Cartography also. One could only be so lucky I guess.
Mr. Jennings is an awesome teacher and cares for his students. He rambles and gets of subject very easily, but some lectures are interesting. If you do the study guides, you will make an A. Great teacher...take him if possible.
He is an excellent teacher! Not an "easy" A though. He expects you to study for his tests and they are somewhat difficult if you don't. However, he gives you a study guide and as long as you read over it a few times before the test you will do just fine. His lectures seem to go on and on though so try not to fall asleep. I recommend taking his class
Dave is an awesome teacher!! very true about it not being an Easy A ... Education isnt supposed to be about easy A's anyways. Dave, you ROCK!!
Mr Jennings Is A really cool guy hes very nice...his tests are hard though and you will have to study but he will always try to give points back if the class doesnt do very well hes really cool and the power point teaching isnt the most fun but he is a really cool guy...but you must study
good class interesting easy to stay attentive prepares you for test and quizzes fair grading system great class im a geog major and this class has been my favorite when i like classes i learn alot way to go dave thanks
One of the nicest teachers on campus. It is clear that he cares about is students. I wish more of my teachers could be like him. Do your study guides and you will do fine in his classes.
Jennings is a great teacher...he really knows his stuff. This class is not hard at all if you actually go and take notes. He gives a study guide before each test and there is no reason why you shouldn't do well because the test comes straight from the study guide. I highly recommend Jennings...awesome.
I hate landforms! However, Dave Jennings is an awesome teacher! I had him for weather and climate and highly recommend him for ANY class he may teach. This was NOT an easy A class ... you must put forth effort and study ... study the study guides and you'll go just fine.
DAVE IS THE MAN!
Dr. Jennings is one of the best & interesting teachers I have had at ETSU. He gets a little off topic & tends to ramble with his stories occasionally, but he's great at conveying information. I would def. recommend anyone taking a geography course at ETSU to make sure they take Dave Jennings.
Great Teacher!
Awesome Teacher and Great Guy!!! Knows a lot and great to learn from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had him in the summer for an online class. It was very time consuming, lots of work, however it was just for 5 weeks. He is very helpful. if yu need Geog 1120 take him oline course had 3 exams, quizes for every chapter, lab worksheets, and things to do.
I had him for both Weather /Climate and Landforms/Processes. While the class wasn't terrbly interesting, he's the best teacher I have had at ETSU. Extremely understanding. At one point, it beng my own fault, I wasn't prepared to take a test, and when I told him, he told me I could take it another day! It was pretty shocking, but in a good way.
He's an awesome guy, and a great teacher. Very helpful and he know's what he's teaching. Makes tests straight from study guides, but it takes effort to complete them and study.. I've learned alot in his class and I highly request that you take this class if you need a Science Elective.
Dave, yes he goes by his first name, is a fantastic professor. By the end of my college career I will have had him 4 times as he teaches a multitude of classes. Attendance is very important in his class, make sure you take good notes, ask questions, and STUDY! Do this and you will be fine. Dave is extremely helpful and kind.
I had this class online and absolutely loved it! It was fun. The material was new. The class was laid out in an organized fashion. The ONLY thing I disliked about it was the "Things to Do" assignments, because they took forever to complete. But even these weren't especially difficult, just time-consuming. I would highly recommend this class.
Took this class online in the summer and it was ok. It's a Natural Science gen ed for most non science majors! Pro. Jennings was understanding and quick to reply to emails. I would recommend this class for a Science gen ed. Work is easy, but time consuming. You get unlimited attempts on the quizes so getting a good grade is up to you!
He is a great professor, although his class is super boring he does his best to make the subject fun. He has a passion for Geography and it makes you more willing to learn from him. Tests are a little lengthy but I would recommend taking him if you have to take another science.
he made the course harder than it had to be. online submitting papers was done by hand first than scan convert to pdf and send , over 50 destinations to be mapped on each map, 16 total. made the class not very fun for me just a chore!
David was a great teacher. After reading a lot of his reviews, I have to disagree with anyone saying this was the easiest class. I am of average intelligence, and I did every study guide and had to study them all a lot. He is super funny and helpful!
One of the easier sciences. Very interesting material of earth systems. Great teaching style & personality which makes class enjoyable. Very helpful & understanding. Great study guides with practice quizzes making it highly possible for a good grade if you do the work.
Dave is such a great guy. I hated the class material, but when I got sick in the middle of the semester he was so helpful and understanding. I can say from experience that he will help you in any way he can. If you have to take these awful classes, he definitely makes them better.
Most boring class ever! At any given point, at least half the class is asleep. His power points are overly wordy. (as in paragraph long "bullet points" and 150+ slides per chapter)Lectures ramble far off topic; right wing politics come up at least once per class. He'll cover 20 slides in the first 75% of the lecture, then fly through 40+ in 15 min.
Easy class and Professor Jennings helped improve the material a lot with funny stories and examples. Basically come to class and pay attention and do the quizzes and you will get an A. You do not even need to buy the book or read it which is a big plus.
Lectures rarely stayed on topic or on schedule;several chapters had to be cut completely because of poor time management;tests and study guides come straight from the book;power points are useless. All labs had to be reformatted (which took longer than the assignments)Poorly organized, slow on feedback.Absurdly vocal in his denial of climate change.
Class structure was horrible, im a senior and the amount of work he gave literally overtook my 4k level courses, ridiculous for a 1k level course.
Dave is awesome and knows his stuff. I've had him for 6 courses and he is a really down to earth guy. Test can be hard, but you're prepared from his classes.
This class was pretty hard! I took it over the summer online and I would work on homework every single day.. There are several quizzes which you can take multiple times but the homework is HORRIBLE.. one day I worked on his "Things to do" for over 6 hours.. Do not get behind in the class or you will suffer miserably. STUDY AND STAY ON TRACK!
This class was pretty hard. I took it on campus. He was very clear and knows what he is talking about. The tests are hard only because they cover a lot of notes. Class is a little boring because its 2 and half hours of listening to notes. His study guides help on the test though. If you stay ahead and listen in class you will be fine.
If you put in the work, it's an easy A. Gives study guides that are practically the test. He requires you to complete one lab a week but they are really easy (take about 10 minutes each). Great teacher, he knows his stuff!
Dr. Jennings is Hilarious, he is informative and fair. He is an excellent teacher and is very personable with his students. his tests are straight forward and information for tests is provided in multiple forms. Definitely recommend him.
Being my first online course, I didn't know what to really expect other than a lot of work. And that's what I got: maps, short essays, quizzes, etc. Learned a lot of interesting and neat things, and had some fun doing the assignments though. I've only met the guy once to hand in some maps but seems like a nice guy.
This was my first online class and it went very well. He clearly outlines all assignments. You really need the book because the powerpoint slides are useless. He seems to be really interested in the subject. The tests and quizzes have a lot of graphical interpretation. Make sure you don't procrastinate.
I have had Dave Jennings four times during my time at ETSU, if that tells you anything, and he is an excellent teacher. He is very personable, helpful and goes to great lengths for his students. As long as you communicate with him, he will help you. His tests are hard, however, as long as you study and read the texts, you will get a good grade.
Jennings was great! He has some amazing stories about his travels across the globe, and his tests are incredibly easy. He did not stick to the syllabus, and got very behind in the material he was supposed to cover, but it was still enjoyable. Great overall!
Awesome class! Any student looking for a science class i highly advise to take Dave.
I really enjoyed taking this class! He is super funny and I usually think professors are annoying. He says at the beginning you can miss up to 9 classes, but he doesn't take attendance everyday so it's not big deal if you miss more than that. Definitely would take his class agaiN!!
Lectures are upbeat and engaging. Really cares about his students, and is easily accessible outside of class if you have questions. Read the book, review the power points, and you'll do well.
I would definitely take another class with David Jennings. He is very funny and has lots of good stories. His tests were all online. It will be an easy A as long as you study with the study guides.
Dave Jennings is the best professor i have had so far at ETSU! he is super funny and it isn't hard to pay attention in his class because of all of his funny stories. I love his sense of humor. He knows a lot about what he teaches and this class is an easy A!
I enjoyed his class, but it probably would have been better if I did not take it so early in the morning as it is mostly lecture. He goes off on tangents a lot. They are usually kind of funny, but sometimes they go on so long I start to wonder why I am there. Seemed like a good guy, very happy, very helpful. Very accurately predicts the weather.
Since I took him for an online class I don't really know much about him as a person but he was always very easy to get in touch with. He always responded within an hour, even if it was the middle of the night. He seems to really care about his students doing well in class.
I had to watch his lectures online and I was never hesitant to do so. He was always so goofy and fun to watch. He is also a really smart guy and knows what he is talking about. His power points are super helpful on the quizzes and exams as well. He does tend to go off on tangents but most of the time they're just funny stories.
Super cool dude. Knows his stuff and expects you to listen during lectures. He isn't there to fail anyone, so it can be an easy pass, but you can get a lot out of his class if you choose to.
This is the third class I have taken with Mr. Jennings and they have all been great. He's a wonderful and very smart professor. He goes off on tangents a lot but I love them.
super easy virtual class. not much going on with it
I took his lab online. His TA was the one that graded everyones work though. 1 lab per week, did not need to meet in-person just work on the lab, which was a worksheet, on your own. Due every Friday night. Labs took maybe 2 hours if you wanted to go through them well. TA graded hard only in the beginning. Take the class with friends if possible.
This class is largely dependent on the TA you get. If you get an easy grader this class is very easy to get an A in. If you end up with a TA who is a little bit tougher, this class might become a little challenging. Taking a lab class online is quite strange but Jennings does a good job at making it as understanding as possible.
He is so disorganized. His d2l assignments reference and say "be sure to go over the PowerPoint". The PowerPoints do not exist. The textbook is not the same one required to pass the assignments. Quizzes often have mistakes. Worse the tests do as well. You have to constantly remind him to correct assignments, quizzes, and tests. It is ridiculous.
Super easy online course. The PowerPoints are lengthy, but extremely helpful for the quizzes and exams. Mostly self paced, with all the quizzes due at the end of the semester and exams were open for 4 days. It's also nice that the textbook is free online! I would definitely recommend taking any class with Jennings, I learned a lot!
Really great professor, His lectures are very engaging.
completely computer illiterate has a messy D2L he will have assignments that say things like "reference the power point" or "use the blank digital maps provided" and neither will be on the D2L until you email him about it. Quizzes are hard to find on the page and he moves the due dates of exams constantly. It's not hard just infuriating.
He had a very straightforward lecture style and maintained an open dialogue within the lecture. He balanced the long lecture information with personal stories and jokes, and kept things short when the room was obviously tired. Overall pretty quick to respond to emails and assignments were very straightforward.
Understanding of student struggles, but to the point. Hilarious authentic lectures. Lots of homework, lots of time spent on maps and short answer essays. His d2l is a little unorganized but is willing to give extra time to submit late assignments. Talk about motorcycles, muscle cars or military. Pretty chill 1on1.
Professor Jennings is amazing at what he does. He could make any subject interesting and his lectures are very easy to follow. If you put effort into the class and show up, you will make a good grade.
Mr. Jennings is a great professor, but tends to get off of topic a lot. The easiest class I have ever taken though. You do not need to attend lecture because everything is online.
Professor Jennings makes the subject engaging. The free online textbook and helpful PowerPoints make this a manageable class. unstuck study can supplement studying for exams.
He just yaps about unrelated things and has the worst made tests and assignments
GEOS 1600 is just one paper about a weather phenomenon. Grading criteria is clear, and Dr. Jennings was happy to meet and talk about my paper.
