Dave's tests are brutal and he is unfair in grading. One student had an anxiety attack (literally) over the complexity of his tests. Although he listens to you he does nothing with your comments. I will never take another class again with him.
tests are HORRIBLE!!! Very unclear questions and homework. uses e-mail tooo much forgets to make the quiz then forgets to hand out homework on thurs that is due on tues. very unorganized and anal retentive
Remarkable knowledge, avails himself at all times. Read your texts- whatever you put into it is what you're going to get out of it!
Good teacher, enjoys what he teaches. Makes the class intresting and is a fair grader. Do the work and youll do good!
Very wordy, tricky exam questions. Grades on a weird curve. Talks to fast in lecture, and focuses a lot on things that interest him. Although he is very intelligent.
Tests are unfair. Worst teacher I have had. Lectures were vey boring and he had no control over the class.
Lectures are long but, it's a lot of info to cover in a short time. The homework is fun and helps you to apply the info to your own life and experience. Go to class as much as possible or you miss a lot. Read the assigned texts because you will be quizzed ask questions and you'll be fine.
Teacher sucks. Enough said!!
Dave sucked so bad. He gave me a D when I was 4 points away from a C. I went in for help and read and did my homework but his tests were very difficult and he was tricky. I wasted $400 on that class. DON'T Take him!!!
If you are willing to put the work into the class, you will do wonderful!! He is very helpful and loves what he teaches, and wants you to understand, fair, and funny!
nice guy, he tends to forgets to mentions things. he gives at least 2 free point questions on the tests. though he interrupted the class 2 or 3 times during the final.
He does not know what he is taking about. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He is a pompous a**. Good luck!
I found this class to be very easy. If you read, the quizzes are easy. the tests are hard, but he gives out plenty of free points to make up for it
I took him for a night class. Lectures were long but he did his best to make them intreasting. Very helpful with questions. Alot of people are saying his class was hard, however everyone I knew in the night class did very well with out alot of outside class time. I would suggest the night class, however the 4 hour long lecture is very LONG
This class was sooo much reading an memorizing! If you have the time the class is fine and you will learn a lot from a prof. who is excited about his subject. However, it got anoying to turn in papers and not receive them back until after I had been tested on the material. Unorganized and at times unclear on subjects.
I TOOK TWO CLASSES INTRO AND ABNORMAL PSYCH, IF U TAKE HIS CLASS DO THE NIGHT CLASS HE IS A PRETTY GOOD TEACHER CLASSES ARE HARD , BUT IF YOU READ THE MATERIAL YOU WILL DO GOOD ..PS ASK HIM FOR HELP IF U STRUGLE HE WILL STAY AFTER AND EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO YOU ONE ON ONE
Psychology... what more
I dunno, I'm undecieded. He seems fun and nice, but he seems like if you don't do GREAT then he's gonna be dissappointed. But so far, I think he's entertaining. He's not a monotone so...I give him a pretty good, considering, he's just doing his job...
I haven't had him for very long, but he could clarify some of the more difficult psychology concepts, but overall his class isn't to difficult and seems like you can approach him about anything. Still there are some some things about his teaching that keep
Easiest 7 weeks of my life, summer session is the way to do it, I was the second highest student in the class and he grades on a fluctuating scale, i ahve never finished thta high in a class, alwasy take his courses.
This guy cool
Was not great on keeping up with grading. Promised class that grades would be posted and he did not deliver. Great teacher though and cute too. a little qwerky but like I said Cute. Tests were on what he lectures. He tells you what will be on the test. If you pay attention and actually do the readings you will do well. He is fair. :)
OMG, this teacher is great. He is not an ass at all. His class is extra easy and very interesting. It's a basic class because it's general psyc so I wouldn't complain about him not being "challanging enough."
He is a very good teacher and wants to make sure that you understand everything. He also grades on a curve.
Mr. Lake is a great instructor. Helpful and clear. The course is difficult, but one stands to learn a great deal. Do what he says, and you'll do well. Don't miss class, pay attention, read the text. He's an asset to the Normandale community. His instruction helped me in other classes. The problem is not with him, but with the idiot next to you...
Dave is interested in what he is teaching and care about his students. He trys to make the class as interesting as he can.
Dave is very helpful. if you ever have a problem with something or need help he is more than willing to help in any way possible. hes also very funny - even when hes in pain :)
He's kind of a pushover, which most of you'll probably think is a good thing. I thought he was very cute. Because he's so nice. He makes me happy. Take his course! You stand to learn a lot if you want to, he's great at teaching, even though-- like I said, he's kind of a pushover when it comes to grades.
GREAT teacher, fun, talkative, helpful and just a great nice guy. I thoroughly enjoyed his class!!
Knows his stuff. Very talkative and gets the class to interact in discussions. A little slow when it comes to grading and getting study guides out.
Very nice man and is all about helping his students. Extremely disorganized though. Tries really hard to be funny. Has a weekly quiz worth 5 points and daily activities. Pretty hard tests though!!
cute&nice, if you are the last to leave on test day he UNOFFICIALLY grades your test, interesting class-duh sexuality class, know the material/do all work=A, gives at least 1 free point on tests-once he accidentally gave us the answer sheet for 1st page of test and then told us he'd oopsed & we had the answers & let us cheat-easy teacher/class
A great prof! The structure of the class may be boring to some (just power point and note taking) but the subject is so interesting that I was focused the entire time. Prof that truly cares about his students, and that they learn the material. Be prepared to spend time studying, but know that you can always approach David for help at any time!
I didn't love the class itself (too broad) but am taking more psych classes next semester. He was a pretty good professor, funny, though not too organized. Tests aren't that hard if you know the material...jeopardy review before the final! I'm taking another one of his classes spring semester.
I took general psychology from him. He treated the class like it was an honors class. One student told him the way he words his exams is hard to comprehend and he simply told them to get used to it because that is how all of his exams are. You must attend all lectures because he tests on it.
I would never suggest this instructor for a general psychology class. He is a very interesting speaker, but for a beginning psych class he expected the students to understand the material at the same level as graduate psychology students do. Exams were difficult and he phrases his questions in a way that purposly tries to trick you. DONT TAKE HI
lake was a pretty good teacher. he allowed quiet a bit of leeway. I would definitely recommend him
He is very funny, helpful and great teacher. Though there is a lot to read in this class but he did a really good job. I would definitely take another class fir him. tests were a little bit hard but he is coool
Dave is a great teacher. He is funny and easy to talk to. If you didn't understand something he would make it clear. He was one of the only teachers that I met that would actively change the curriculum based on the students feedback. He listened to what we all had to say. His test were a little hard but if you read the book, you'd be fine.
He is VERY fair. He does expect that you do ALL of the reading.
dave was a good teacher but totally lacked compassion. if u questioned him on any of the test questions he fred back with Psych lingo that he knew you didn't understand to validate why his ansewr was right. His test questions seemed to purposefully try to trick u into choosing the wrong answer.
I had the opportunity to have him be a sub for a past psych professor. I knew right away that I wanted to take another course with him. I took human sexuality on Fall o6. He is a great professor. There are assignments very easy - make sure to do them or it will effect your grade. Tests - make sure to read the text book and attend lectures.
Wonderful teacher!! Best I've ever had. He works hard to make sure you understand and does a great explaination. Tests were easy because he gives you them beforehand! Very very nice and funny! Yes-Take His Class! Very good at what he does!
This class was a complete waste of my time. I like Psychology, however he has ruined it for me. This was a gen class and all we learned was how to do research in the psychology field. His questions on tests were worded as if you were trying to get your PhD! He talked about himself alot!! I am an A student and receieved a B. Do not take his class!!!
Dave loves psychology and you can tell that with his teaching. However he really should be teaching a upper level psychology class instead of this one. He get really off track and talks about himself A LOT! He teaches something in class and then asks the reverse on his tests. If you want to learn a lot about psychology don't take his class!
amazing teacher, loves what he does. HONORS class is amazing, pretty easy if you pay attention, he wants you to succeed and will help you do so. a great class i would recommend to anyone!
Great class. Amazing teacher. He is very interactive with students and is excited about what he teaches. I wouldn't ask for more from a teacher, however I can agree with some and say his education should put him in a higher ed class. Still, he is an invaluable teacher at Normandale. It was a great first run at an honors class.
Amazing teacher, got me more interested in psychology than I ever thought possible. Wanted to get to know each and every student. Made class comfortable by being nice and joking. Always tried to find new ways to explain the material. Really pushed students to adapt psychology to life. Can't wait to take another class with him!
you don't even need to bother going to class. just read the textbook and you'll get an A. he's nice and everything, but he really didn't add anything to the class.
not organized. says he is going to do something but never does. hard to contact. especially with grades concerns. told class that we were not really one of his priorities (gen. psych was...) learned more from book. talked a lot about format of the class rather than lecture. but very personable and funny. very fair on exams. nice guy.
He's an AWESOME teacher. He gives many chances for you to get your grade up. Also really funny when he tells story. <3 this class. Free point every test FTW.
have taken two classes with this teacher. He is a great teacher. He has most things layed out in powerpoints. Everything on the test pertains exactly to the reviews he makes for the tests. do your work and you will do well in his class. VERY FUNNY!
Very open about how difficult the class will be. Requires work, but never seems unfair. There's a fallback plan if you miss a test.
Absolutely horrible teacher, please avoid at all costs. Our class debates with him every class on ambiguous questions on the exams. I hated his class, love psych, hate him.
He is a nice guy, but his class is only worth 200 points- most of which come from bi-weekly exams. If you're a bad tester (like me), stick with a prof who will offer other assignments. I knew after my first exam that I wouldn't get an "A". I have never dropped a class before, but had to drop this one for my GPA's sake.
I have heard he is a good prof for general psych, but I had him for abnormal psych and it was horrible! I am an A student and pulled off an A in the class (miracle), but it was a horrible, stressful experience! He is very disorganized, and the total points (only 200 for 7 exams, a paper, etc)were not consistent with the amnt of material covered.
Excellent Professor, very excited about the subject, knowledgeable and helpful. Tests are very difficult (applied q's) and most of the scoring comes from tests. Can be a little disorganized. Friendly, approachable and flexible to meet after hours for extra help. Adds a lot to the class by giving depth to the material, makes class fun.
I took Dave for a summer psych 101 class. His tests were unreasonably difficult. The reviewer who wrote "His test questions were meant to trick you" was dead on. He expects a graduate level of knowledge to take this basic course is also accurate. There are teachers who "teach". Dave is not one of them. AVOID THIS PROF. Nice guy, just a poor teacher
Not very helpful at all to be honest. I took the web enhanced program and he would do questions in class that had nothing to do with any material. I ended up skipping because it was so pointless. The tests are ridiculous as well. Many questions are very ambiguous. Also, for a web class almost everything was from the book. No lectures, no slides.
Dave is a very nice and funny guy but as a professor he is extremely difficult. The tests were near impossible. I took the web-enhanced version of the class and the small class time we had was filled with useless group work. You need to spend many hours scouring the text to get a decent grade on exams. Also, he had a difficult time updating D2L.
dont have him. he tricks you. he seems unfair about important subjects. but overall, he is a nice guy.
Very nice guy. His tests are extremely difficult, no matter how hard you study. He makes himself available to help in any way he can, which is nice.
Two thumbs down. He sucked the life out of an otherwise interesting topic. The tests are extremely hard, and I got little help from any of the lectures. A great deal of class time is just plain wasted. Be warned, this bogus class may also have issues transferring to other psych departments.
Very nice guy and very helpful when you need help with the material. The tests aren't difficult if you're interested in the material, and Dave always tries to make sure every is interested and understands it. It you think the tests are hard or that he's trying to trick you, you're just not that interested in the first place.
Great guy, hard tester. You MUST study and read the material before hand. Otherwise he is down to earth and is a funny guy.
Very nice! Does anything he can to help you along and is genuinely interested in your feedback! Exams are a little more on the difficult side but in Gen Psych there is a lot to cover! Highly recommended!
Dave was really nice, genuinely wanted students to learn the material. I felt like he made some aspects of the course more complicated than they needed to be. The grading system was especially confusing, but ultimately worked to our advantage. Exams were fair if you read the material. Did not give timely feedback for work which was frustrating.
took gen psych. took the web-enhanced, which was really hard. but hes a great guy and really personable. hard grading system. Go thoroughly thru the provided study guides for tests. unwilling to bend rules/compromise, and doesn't keep D2l updated which is frustrating. hard class, but very informative, came out w a lot of info
this teacher is extremely intelligent and really personable. I took his web enhanced class, which is hard to keep up with the textbook reading, but In class he targets and clarifies material that students are having trouble with. Don't sit in the back of the class he talks really fast sometimes, and The tests are multiple choice and kind of tricky.
Prof Lake really knows his stuff and does a great job at making the curriculum relate to you on a more current event/ interesting way. I learned a lot through the lecture and feel the text wasn't as clear as he was able to make it in class. So in other words you must show up to lecture or you will fall behind.
Great teacher, very willing to help. Good at changing the class up, some group work, some lecture and videos. Group work in every class so if you are a solitaire person may not be the class for you. Tests are hard, but not because of the teacher, its just a lot of material to cover. Watch all the videos he will have test questions on them.
Mr. Lake was one of the best teaches I have had i a while. He is easy to understand, a considerate grader and fun. We watched alot of funny videos and he always seemed to have a good story for the lesson. He is definitely a good teacher to have!
One of those professors a student dreams to have. Fun, interesting, always is able to answer any questions. Lake is always more than willing to help out students outside of class, won't give you the "just email me or something" response. He has the "I'd rather have you learn than just give you a bad grade" mentality.
General Psych with Lake is a dream! I never do office hours but he made me feel so comfortable. His tests are tricky but if you do everything else, you are bound to do great! :)
Mr. Lake was an awesome teacher. he knows his stuff and is very organized. on top that, he's always willing to help the students and genuinely cares about them. highly recommend him.
Tests are extremely hard because they are all essay but he is very knowledgable. Very hard to keep up with reading since the chapters are so long but that is the only way that you will pass the class and showing up for notes.
he's so helpful and knowledgeable! I really enjoy being in his honors section, the tests are hard, but i've learned so much very quickly!
David Lake is a wonderful educator. He truly loves to teach and cares about the success of his students. However, his teaching style is not straightforward and you should be ready for anything on tests, regardless of what the syllabus says. You must be a flexible learner to do well in this class. Take Honors if you can, smaller class size is great!
Mr. Lake is a great professor he makes it so that you can receive help at any time. I took this as a hybrid class so there was a lot of videos but they definitely helped with the tests. He does make use of the textbook so read along and you will do well in the class! He is a great teacher i recommend him to anyone taking Psychology.
Took his hybrid class. Lectures are online videos and class time is mostly discussion and application practicing. Regular group work, great for extroverts. In order to take the hybrid class you MUST do the reading and you MUST watch the lectures. Just showing up won't cut it, he doesn't take attendance. BEWARE-VOCAL PACKER FAN
I took David's honors class and it was one of the most difficult, rewarding, and enjoyable classes I have ever taken. I now tutor psychology and laugh in the face of any other psych class (Dev Bio Abnormal). If you're looking for easy, maybe its not for you but he's and exceptional and fair teacher. His honors class is worth the work, trust me.
Don't take biopsych! The material is extremely dense and his tests questions are very specific. Even reading all the chapters twice and attending every class I was still unsure of my answers. The class time doesn't help at all with the tests or your grade. While he is a very nice guy, he seems like he cant get it together. This is a bad class
Prof Lake may not have been super organized for this class but it was also his first time teaching it.It is a 2000 level class, and is meant to be hard. You will have to study a lot.He is dedicated to his students, and will do anything he can to help you succeed. He may be a bit disorganized, but he is still one of my favorite teachers at Normandale.
I took his Biopsychology class. It was the first time being offered and I think he did a great job. He is always excited about course material and goes beyond the textbook. The tests were very hard and it should have been a 4-credit class. If you don't want to read the textbook or come to class than this isn't the class or professor for you.
Dave is a funny guy. With his lectures he can get very mono-tone though and makes it hard to concentrate in class. You need to read the chapters multiple times to understand the content. Tests are rather difficult as well, no matter how much I studied I never did as well as I would have liked. I would recommend sessions with his SI instructor.
Dave is a phenomenal professor with a passion for teaching. Use his office hours! He's more than willing to talk and help. The course is extremely difficult, you will spend many hours per week on it, but it's great material. Definitely the hardest psychology course at Normandale. His tests are ridiculously hard; graduate level. Fair grader.
Dave is very approachable, definitely easy to feel comfortable around. Do not be afraid to ask questions, he loves to answer them. Extremely helpful and passionate about the subject. Worst thing about the class was the heavy reading -- was not a fan of the textbook. The tests were hard and stressful, but not hard to pass the class.
Professor Lake has been one of my favorite Normandale professors. He genuinely wants you to do well and is nice, but he does expect you to put effort into the class. He's passionate about what he teaches, and taking this class sparked my interest to continue studying psychology. He drops your lowest test score and his syllabus was fun to read!
I really enjoyed Dave as my professor. The only thing I would say is his tests are pretty tough. 35 questions, multiple choice, but the questions are story like questions, which in my opinion is more difficult for me. Here's there for you if you need help. Class isn't mandatory but if you don't show up you may miss some in class assignments.
Excellent lectures! He is truly a great professor that brings his passion to each class. Quizzes/Exams are frequent and very tough but still loved the class.
Woah avoid if you care about grades tests and quizzs are stupid hard. class average on them was honestly below 50 percent
Dave is a great professor, but you need to be willing to ask questions if you are confused. He sets the bar high for his tests, but if you study, participate in the class and take advantage of the resources available to help you it is very doable and rewarding.
Dave is a great person to get to know packers fan, we here a lot about it. As a teacher he is a tough grader, he wants you to apply the course work to life, in order for that you must read. Tests are hard but he encourages you to ask questions and offers extra credit... took intro to psych
He was a god-awful prof. I took another psychology professor at Normandale and got a B, where as I had to drop out of his class due to it being way to hard. Test questions are short stories that he writes himself, so it's hard to study for. You have to ask questions about the text book every week where he was very tough grading wise.
Professor Lake is not nearly as difficult as the other people here are saying. The other professors in Normandale's psych department are very generous graders (though still excellent professors), so I think the people calling Prof. Lake hard are just used to easy As. If you do the reading carefully and ask good questions, an A is manageable.
David is an extremely entertaining and fun professor. The homework and daily work isn't bad - definitely manageable. The weekly quizes are pretty straight-forward but the tests are hard. He does situation-type questions where you have to put stuff into context to figure out the answer. A difficult class, but fun and do-able if you try.
Dave really cares about his students and the subject of psychology in general. Yes, his tests are very hard, but if you are interested in pursuing Psych as your major I would highly suggest taking one of his courses to help prepare you. He is extremely approachable and will take as much time as you need for help.
Dave was a great instructor. He cares a lot about his students and is always there to help you with class material. If you take time to study the material you will do well on tests, and overall in the class.
Dave is awesome!! I would definitely take a class with him again! I enjoyed his personal stories or analogies relating to the various concepts in class. Hes extremely knowledgeable and is a caring person. This class is quite a bit of work though so easy it is not. It is a college course though & you will learn a lot.
Dave is a very intelligent professor. He really knows his material in and out. I didn't do as well as I would have liked in his class, but that falls on me, you get out what you put into it. Tests are very hard, however, I would recommend going to his SI study sessions, my test grade improved by 10 points after attending.
Dave is very passionate about his subjects and really works to help his students succeed. He is accessible outside of class. He's funny and approachable. Beware: his tests are REALLY HARD. He grades them very strictly and sometimes the questions can be a little obscure. Most of his essay questions come from in-class lectures so you need to show up.
Dave is such a down to earth guy. He is very funny and has pretty good lectures. I took a 2 hour lecture that didn't feel that long. He will answer any questions you may have until you can understand it. Very responsive as well, I would get emails fairly quickly which was nice. BUT BE EXTREMELY DILIGENT ABOUT STUDYING FOR TESTS!!! Theyre repetitive
He's a cool guy and you can tell he likes his jobs but man was this class boring. get ready to memorize is all I have to say. Its ALOT of textbook reading and way more of a science class than anything else. He tries to make it fun and get you to work in small groups but the class is still very lecture heavy.
He really cares about his students. He always says "life happens", so he will not take attendance, but he strongly suggests that people came to class. your lowest grade in each of the categories (exams, chapter quiz's, and homework) is dropped at the end of the year. A lot of the class is just reading a textbook, doing online quiz's, and questions
He's very good at answering questions in class and giving thorough explanations to make sure you understand the content. Really loved his class!
I took Intro to Psych. David is no doubt a good teacher. It's clear that he is knowledgeable about the subject. But the teaching isn't entirely there. There will be lots of homework and reading every week. Powerpoints from class arent posted in D2L as it could've been very useful to look back on what we miss. Most of what we learn is in the book.
Dave is an amazing professor. t he is great at what he does. i took Behavorial Stats with him. HARDEST CLASS EVER. he is good, but the way the class was handled wasnt. i had so many questions. We never went over the problems that are on mind tap. its a lot of math! BE prepared to be frustrated and use a lot of time into this class.
This teacher is a horrible teacher. He doesn't teach you anything that is related to the textbook. The online work is completely different material than in class work. He doesn't help when you get confused. He doesn't accept ANY late work. He doesn't explain anything well. He knows the subject matter, but doesn't know the first thing about teaching
I had Dave for a summer course. He's cheerful, passionate about teaching, and knowledgeable about the subject. Passing the course required full attention in lecture with minimal studying. Tests include freebie questions like "Psychoanalysis originated with" A) Skinner B) Freud C) Who are they? D) If you pick C) I'll be sad.
He solidified my love for psychology. Super willing to help, and had student teachers to help as well. If you study the way he asks you will pass his class with a good grade!
Very hard teacher I took this as a hybrid and it sucked all the Lea tires were videos and when I had question he never answered them clearly the test were very hard and he was very unorganized
Dave genuinely cares about his students in and out of the classroom. He encourages students to come to office hours to discuss anything under the sun. He's funny, engaging and has the purest heart. He gives advice on how to study and how he writes exams. It's not an easy A but I believe personal effort is the best indication of how you will do.
Dave demands a lot from his students, but he will go to the ends of the earth to help you succeed. Extremely thoughtful and understanding. He goes over each completed exam in class, and will occasionally give free points if a question was too hard. Heavy workload, so keep up. And attend office hours, you'll have great conversations and learn a lot!
Prof Lake's intro psych class was one of my favorite college courses ever! I enjoyed his lectures and felt that he truly cared about his students. There are questions on exams that you only learn in lecture OR only learn in the textbook, so be sure to read AND attend lecture. He drops the lowest exam score so theres no excuse to fail! He's great!
Dave Lake is a good professor but lacks to understand students busy lives. He assigns tons of reading and not so helpful lectures of him talking for 2+ hours which is a waste of time. His test? Forget it. Intro. class should focus more on the understanding of the material but all Dave Lake cares about is making the tests hypothetical to real life.
I love Dave. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had and has helped me to expand not only my knowledge but how I look at the world around me. Forewarning: He is a really tough test writer. If you pay attention in class, go to office hours, and study, you should be okay. Ask for help when you need it. Don't expect extensions on due dates.
Dave is a phenomenal professor. He def knows his stuff & we received as close to a "hands-on" experience as I think you can get from a psych class. Tests are not just spouting off what you read, more so from reading the text & attending lecture/office hours. He's willing to do whatever he can to make you successful if you put in the work.
Davi is an excellent professor, very respectful, open-minded, and caring. He really wants to hear from their students. He gives tons of opportunities to get a good score and even gives extra points. He asks for you to creat 4 questions from each chapter that you read, video quizzes, and Ravel (textbook) quizzes.
Dave is an AMAZING professor, LOVES psych & CARES about his students! I got an A+, but I had to WORK for it (focused reading the textbook, thoughtful writing, STUDYING). Lots of weekly homework, but he relaxes grading, sliding scales on tests & extra credit. Go to his Office Hours! He is very responsive in all ways. I am taking his Abnormal Psych!
I had dave and loved him! I have taken all of his classes He's very understanding, flexible, and cooperative. He interacts with you on a personal level getting to know you well. He encourages us to go to his office hours work-related stuff or simply to talk. He is there to listen and give advice. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO PASS THIS CLASS!
I took this class as a PSEO student and it was easy to adapt to. While it was a lot of studying, the workload did remain consistent throughout the semester which was very helpful because I always knew what I had to prepare for each week. He does a great job of connecting the content to real life if that's the way you like to learn.
Dave was one of the best professors I have had at Normandale. His online Intro to Psych class was phenomenal, and I learned a lot from him. Very kind, intelligent individual. If you do the reading, and take notes, you will be just fine. All his tests are real world application questions, so you better know the content.
Dave is really cool. The class is hard and there is a lot of studying to do but it's well worth it. I learned a lot of stuff in this class that I felt translated over to the rest of the world really well. Do note that the tests are extremely textbook-heavy. You need to read the textbook and take good notes on it to do well in this class.
Here's the thing... I like Dave as a person. I think he cares a lot about his students. But I did not like the way this class was taught. Attending class didn't help because discussing the weekly material was at the bottom of the agenda, and we rarely if ever got around to it. It was basically 100% self-taught, and zero tolerance for late work.
Amazing teacher, his class is very tough but very worth it. dave is very kind and caring, he is a fair teacher. I have so much respect for him, and how he grades. Dave will look at all the questions and answers and take away the question if barely any got it right. Dave will also take off your three worst graded assignments.
Dave was an awesome professor. The only reason my grade was low was all on me and my priorities. His lecture videos are awesome and actually get your attention. One thing I was not a fan of was having to come up with questions for the reading and the lectures because sometimes I truly had nothing to add or ask. Overall, I would recommend him!
He cares about his students and makes class fun. There is homework almost every week but isn't overwhelming. His lectures are long but not boring. He does have small quizzes after every reading and lecture. Exams are cognitive, use what you've learned to get the answer. He's helpful, fun, understanding, and a great professor overall!
Dave likes to hear himself speak more than anything else. He uses big words to prove to us that he's smart and to dazzle us. I could see the younger students in class falling for this but I'm an adult learner who has experience with this. He cares more about his popularity than about students, evident by his lack of flexibility and attention.
a super tough class for an "intro" psych course. multiple hours of lecture videos a week. he also gave me a 0 on the first week of class for not submitting an assignment in docx form. exams were hard. a lot of real life examples not just definitions. He is very knowledgable on the topic, but tough class.
