I would have to say Anatomy is "No Joke", but with an Amazing professor, everything was worth it! Dr Dave gave a lot of help with extra credit, study tips, and just overall his way of teaching! You must attend class everytime and you must do the work! I couldn't of done it without Dr Dave! Definitely recommend him to everyone!!! Cheers Dr Dave!!!

I'm shocked at the negative reviews for Dr. Dave. He's a GREAT professor! This 5 hour class is easy to sit through. Material is covered clearly, but read the chapter beforehand so you keep up. He always stops for questions and answers as best he can. This is a hard class regardless of the teacher, but I recommend him. He's passionate about teaching

Dr. Dave is a great teacher! This is a hard class, and he won't coddle you, but this is college not elementary school. You actually have to put the work in to get a good grade. That being said, he obviously cares a lot about his students and works hard to answer their questions and help them understand the material. I definitely recommend him!

Dr. Dave is a great professor and will do everything he can to make sure you succeed including giving extra credit. Anatomy is a hard class, so you have to make sure you put in the hours outside of class as well as paying attention during lecture & using your lab time wisely. Dr Dave is awesome! I had a blast in this class! It's not an easy A but I can definitely say that I have learned so much from this class. Dr Dave makes everything super interesting and is definitely willing to help you if you ask. There is quite a bit of homework involved but nothing that isn't irrelevant. it is extremely helpful to skim over the chapters before lecture, if you do this you will have no problem understanding the concepts. there are extra credit opportunities everywhere, Everywhere!

He gives plenty tons of extra credit and offers study time on Fridays during anatomy club. as long as you put the effort in and pay attention in lecture you'll do fine.

It really surprises me to see how poorly Dr. Martin is rated! 125 is a hard class so I am betting the ones that come on here and negatively review are the ones who don't put in the effort. This class sets you up for classes down the line so if you want a teacher to "spoon feed" you then don't take his class but life will suck for you later.

The semester I took a class with Dr. Dave , it was part him and part Prof Upton cause she had some health problems. Dr. Dave is a wonderful professor. Anatomy is very voluminous and just requires hours and hours of sitting to study if you want to pass. So, take only Anatomy in a semester and study,study,study pray,pray, pray A+

Dr. Dave is tough, but taking the class with him is well worth it!! He is helpful and really tries to help you understand the material that is to be covered! He's a stickler for spelling. In order to pass his class you will need to attend and read. he's big on slides and models during exam time. The class is a little difficult, but if you put in the time you'll pass, no problem!

Dr. Dave can be criticized as a hard teacher. Although there were times where I wanted to pull me own hair out, he is a GREAT teacher. He actually teaches the material and this material is NO JOKE! Dr. Dave Martin is by far the toughest teacher I have had at MJC. The class itself was difficult. Many hours of studying is required to pass his class. Have a full time job? You wont pass. Slack off a little bit? Won't pass. Be careful of the questions you ask because he WILL be very smart with you. He gives SOME extra credit. DO ALL HOMEWORKLABS!

Dr. Dave is very straight forward and will tell you like it is. If there is material in the book and he knows you wont need it then he skips over it. Lots of homework but it backs up for the HUGE test points. A few extra credit points on each quiz and a good amount of e.c. throughout the semester. The key to passing the class is to STUDY! SIMPLE!

I was taking Anatomy 125 and it was a lot of lectures and lab plus memorized material that need to be done for this class. Prepared to read the lecture and study the models when you in class. He is fun and know his stuffs. Taking his time to grade paper. Learned a lot from his class. Do your homework, study, and you will be in a good hands.

Dr. Dave is very knowledgeable in the anatomy field! Really great teacher to have! The one thing about his class is that it can feel very disorganized at times. Tests are hard, lots of memorization in a small amount of time. Homework in online in a Connect Lab, book+ code are nessessary. He lectures straight from the book. Cadavers are cool.

So here's the thing, Dr. Dave is tough, but so is any major in the medical field. His class is hard, but if you are going into nursing this is really the best anatomy class to take. He is brilliant and he does his research. There are a lot of assignments that he gives that are equal weight to the tests and he gives a LOT of extra credit!

Labs are really easy and helpful. Make sure you take good slide pictures and print them in color and label. That's an easy 10 points. Lots of extra credit and if you need help, he is always there at school or go to anatomy club and study models!

If you want it easy, he is not your professor, but if you want to learn the material and be properly prepared to succeed in the nursing program, then he is your guy. Honestly he's very knowledgeable and if you do the work you will be okay. Study in a group and go over models in library or in lab on Fridays. I really liked him as a professor, things to watch out for is that he can be political, his exams are hard, and he takes forever to grade papers. But he is super smart and he cares a lot about his students

Dr. Dave is one of the most difficult instructors I have taken at MJC but am grateful. I know I am prepared for the Nursing Program. The worst thing that could happen is a nursing student walking into first semester not knowing everything. Exams are tough, I won't lie, but he provides plenty of extra credit to compensate for any low grades.

Best teacher I've taken at MJC. A lot of people complained about the work, those people didn't pass (and definitely won't survive the RN program). I had so much fun in this class! Dr Dave is pretty awesome, we had a blast joking around with him. Hard, fast paced super interesting class. Lots of work outside class hours, and tests can be tricky but fair. I put in 16+ hours outside class to earn A. Dr. Dave talks fast. Pay attention or you'll fall behind. It's a lot in info! Put in the effort, he will reciprocate. I'd take him again in a heartbeat. Lots of E.C. The body is fascinating!

I took anatomy with Debrah Martin and totally failed it but after taking Dr Dave Martin I actually understand anatomy cause he made it interesting and fun. Do expect to work hard and STUDY. Going to SI sessions really helped too. Also do all the extra credit.

One of the best. I also took him for Anatomy and Advanced Cadaver Dissection over the last year. He has a TON of knowledge in these areas and he is more than willing to help. He will stay late, and even comes in all day Friday and will help with students. He isn't the easiest, but YOU WILL LEARN. It's anatomy, so it won't be easy with anyone.

Great professor. Extremely difficult class, but not impossible to get an A. Offers a ton of extra credit. He is very helpful if he knows you are putting your best effort into the class. If you listen to his rant on the fist day of class you'll be fine.

Positive-I really liked Doc Dave, he is interesting and informative. He will answer the same question over and over without judgement, but when it's time to grade the labs it's time too know your stuff or have prepared questions. Negative-he lacks organization which effects the class and takes way too long to submit grades.

Dr. Dave is passionate about Anatomy. He will set you up for success in Micro and Physio. He is tough and expects a lot in the short amount of time he is given to teach the class. Read the chapters with his lectures and use all of his study aids. Label everything on you labs even if not asked for and you will do well. You will live/dream Anatomy.

I took his zoology 101 class in the spring. Let me tel you this class is not easy, the class is mainly lab work, very detailed and lot of memorizing. Exams are curved. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT, as long as you get 5 on labs and do almost all the extra credit youll pass with a B/A-. Presentation and bug collection are done in this class so be warned.

Hes still new at teaching zoology , but is the perfect person to teach this. Lots of cool stories during his lectures so theyre never boring. This class is Almost all lab, when you turn labs in he will pop quiz you so he ready. Dont take the attitude personal when grading your lab. Gives a ton of extra credit and all exams are curved by a lot.

He's a tough professor but he really teaches you the material. He had a lot of extra credit to help out with all the tests. The labs mainly were just study time with the models and it helped to make study groups. Was one of the more challenging classes I've taken, but very rewarding. Be prepared to study -- A LOT

I took Dr. Dave Martin for Cadaver Dissection in the fall of 2019. I personally learned a lot from him. He gets into detail about the human body. Hes very intelligent and knowledgeable about diseases and health conditions in the human body. If youre going into the nursing field, I highly suggest anyone taking his cadaver dissection course.

Dave is probably the hardest and meticulous professor that Ive ever taken. Despite my anger and hate for him the first couple of weeks, I grew to really appreciate him as a professor. He pushes you because the real world is not going to be easy. He gave me a reason to challenge myself. Just put in the time and work and you will be solid! Good luck!

I took Doc Dave's Anatomy class during remote learning and I have been very impressed. The class is very difficult, but with anatomy you have to expect it and to put the work in. I can't tell you what his face to face class is like, but I have been impressed with how open and honest he has been with us students and how open minded he has been.

yes he is hard , his exams are hard and labs are long but hes a great professor. Dont take his sarcasm and snarky remarks too personal thats how he is. your best friend will be flash cards in this class no doubt. add any details possible into your labs and youll get a good grade. you get the grade you work for truly.

Class is probably one of the hardest classes at MJC for a reason... If you are going to be a nurse then you will take much harder classes than this and you should prob find a new major in something that doesn't require you to be responsible for other's lives. Don't take this class or major in Nursing if you are not ready to ready to be dedicated.

Revolutionary professor. 'Doc Dave' helped shape my path into health sciences. In this class I was taught how to dissect human cadavers that were donated for study. My focus was on the heart; I was able to carefully open the pericardium, clean up, and expose the various features of the heart by removing visceral fat and other less-relevant tissues.

Martin's ZOOL 101 was difficult, with a lot of homework and unclear expectations on projects/homework. HOWEVER, I have never learned so much from one class as I have his ZOOL 101 class. He gives opportunities for extra credit, and he is a fairly easy grader. If you put the effort into his class, you will most likely end up with a good grade.

This is Anatomy. It's going to be difficult. Doc Dave will emphasize how difficult the class is on multiple occasions. For this class, you have to take it by itself and put as much of your free time into the course work as you can. Make a study group with the entire class and work together! Also, he's willing to help you go over material.

Doctor Martin was a fantastic professor for Zoology 101. Although there is a lot of information to learn and absorb, he makes sure you learn the material for exams. He gave many extra credit opportunities and curved several exams. Overall, I would take this class again.

I took this spring23. Doc Dave is a brilliant man. He is known to be tough &anyone that has taken his course can attest to this, but if you put in the work you will get out what you put in. Most difficult class I've ever taken, but also 1 of the best professors I've ever had. Do the work & do it well. He respects people who excel, & cares so much about his students beneath the gruff exterior. Chose to take him specifically again for anatomy. Lab reports important. Lectures unnecessary to watch since it's covered by lab & textbook.

If you are unable to handle tight deadlines with high expectations, at least 2 unit exams each month, or even have time to watch on average 2 hour long lecture videos (about 9 videos on average) per unit, then this class is not for you. He has high expectations for his students, so if you think you can handle the pressure, then good luck.

If you want to learn something, take this class! If you want an easy A, take someone else. I was scared to take Doc Dave but so glad I did. Some labs may seem pointless at first but I promise you it helps your remember things for the exam. Go in extra to other sections if you can. Offers lots of extra credit. Wants you to succeed. Doc Dave is the best professor/teacher I have ever had. His teachings made it easy for me to understand. If you are having trouble understanding something he will go so in depth. He has so many life stories that I think are amazing and enjoyed listening. There are so many things he taught I will always remember and take on with me in life.

Do yourself a favor: take his class. He has high standards and is very engaging. The most caring professor you will ever meet. He encourages you to meet your potential and wants to see you succeed, I cannot say enough great things about him! I will definitely sign up to take another cadaver course if the certification is ever offered. So much fun!!

Yes Doc Dave is tough. You probably won't pass nursing school and definitely not medical school if you can't pass his class. He will give you great career and life advice and if you ask him he will be very open to tell you your potential. Even if he doesn't like you and you don't like him, you can get an A in his class if you work your butt off.

Hardest course I've ever taken. Fast forward through lectures when he goes off topic. Take notes and read your chapters forwards and backwards. Use the atlas when studying lab. He is harsh but it's for your own good, he wants you to succeed. Question everything, including your grades. Take advantage of extra credit- you will need it!

Dr. Martin is probably one of the most interesting professors I have had. Even though it was a lot of work, a lot of effort, a lot of overcoming self doubt, he helped me learn so much. He was really knowledgeable and respectful when we were learning with cadavers. He will prepare you to succeed in future classes, especially science classes.
