Passionate about his subject. Good comraderie with students. Enjoys in depth conversation. It's great to explore topics with a teacher who is still exploring himself and doesn't feel he's learned a great deal of what there's to be learned about a particular topic.

he is an amazing prof. he is does ack like a know it all and encourages the class to speak up on how they feel. he never degrades students. and you can tell he really enjoys the subjest. he even wrote a book. i liked it.

Excellent professor, great personality. Encourages students to voice their opinions/views without fear of criticism. I learned a lot and was surprised at out interesting his class was.

Dave's enthusiasm for ethics exudes from his personality and how he wants everyone to enjoy, or at least appreciate, ethics and ethical thinking. Definitely a great class. He's more concerned with people grasping the concept then giving hard tests. Definitely take notes, you can find answers in the book, but it's easier from his notes.GREAT CLASS

He makes class really easy but completely interesting, he really has a way of making you sit up and listen and even if you are quiet you can not help but take part in the class. You have a couple big assignments but not to hard. Pay attention and have fun you will do good I promise

This was an Ethics course. Dave is an awesome teacher and not only would I love to have him as my teacher again, but I am now formally interested in Philosophy. (He is a philosopher at heart.) He is sarcastic, amusing and very intelligent. Class was really enjoyable, the best way to learn about ethics.

Dave Monroe is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. He has a perfect mix of humor and information in every class. It is rare to see someone bored in his classroom! And the fact that he is gorgeous doesn't hurt either! May the force be with him!! Haha! I hope he reads this!

Awesome teacher, do the work and you get an A. The assignments he gives he gives full points just if you do it. Answers could be wrong and still gives an A. Best teacher I have ever had hands down. Just wish he taught more classes.

I was blessed with him being my first teacher at SPC, for early college dual enrollment. Was very helpful, always had time to answer questions, understood why you may not be able to make it to class if you e-mailed him ahead of him, and graded easy for completion expect on gordon rule paper! take that seriously.

I absolutely LOVED this professor. He made the class intersting and entertaining. thoroughly enjoyed it. Easy A if you put the work into it. Gives opportunity for extra credit/bonus points. Took his ethics class and loved it. Focuses a lot on philiosophy and gives out weekly assignments which are EASY.There are no right or wrong answers, just do it and you get credit for it. Has one major paper and will make you give a presentation, but it's not all that bad. He's also very friendly and wants his students to do well. Take him!

Mr. Dave is awesome.. easy going and super friendly! he is great with responding to email and practically gives you an A if you do the course work. The mid-term is long but fun and the final is short and simple. If you need to take an Ethics class, Take Professor Monroe's class...

Mr dave is the best teacher ever!! I took him for studies in applied ethics and it was my favortie class yet! very entertaining and was fun to debate to other people in class about situations. Very laid back and attendence is up to u, he lets you have at least 10 unexcused absences.u can tell him ou wont be there even if its 5 minutes before class

I would advise anyone to take Mr.Dave for studies in applied ethics and i beleive you will like him. He is very nice and easy to approach. I took him at 9am and the class was not boring at all.

Wonderful! I love his examples and how he makes everyone understand what he's talking about. Very down to earth and he will understand if you have a bad situation. My class had some awesome debates that were civil and respectful and I think its so cool how he does it!

Monroe was a great teacher. About 6 homework assignments. Only hard part of the class was the CTAP paper. 2000 words on a terrible topic assigned ever single ethics student must take in college. He is a great teacher highly recommended

Great guy, extremely helpful and clear on the course material. He barely uses the textbook, he is one of the few who actually teaches you something. He'll even tell you the book is WRONG! I dread writing and ended up with a 99 on the CTAP paper. Get this guy for anything he teaches, you wont regret it!

Professor Monroe is a wonderful professor, and his first priority is his students. He cares about them and their education, and does his best to remain completely unbiased as he presents the various ethical theories. He is very knowledgeable, and his class is well worth the time and effort required to put into it.

Professor Monroe was great, his lectures get everyone in the class involved. The quizes and test were easy if you paid attention in class and read the chapters. This class was never boring. I highly recommend taking Monroe, he's AWESOME!

Online. Be very careful when submitting assignments. Follow the instructions he asked or expect a low grade. I found the quizzes to be somewhat manipulative as well. Ok class, but wish there was more creativity to it. Found it to be average.

Hands down one of the nicest guys I've ever met. His passion for ethics and philosophy is obvious...you can tell he really loves his job and the students. He's funny as well and extremely helpful. A decently easy teacher. He is motivated to make sure his students learn. He has a great sense of humor and he knows how to captivate an audience. Most of his assignments are easy, and he is most willing to help. He definitely made a not-so-fun class enjoyable. Fabulous!

Most of our class was his "cult following" (and I hope he reads this and laughs) because we all had him for ethics. This was a new class this semester, and I really enjoyed it. You learn about the ancient greek philosophers - loved learning about Plato and Socs. DB postings, 3 tests and a paper is all you will do. Great class, even greater prof.

His test can some times be a little hard, but he usually allows you to fix the mistakes and gives you points back. Take him, you will not regret it!!

Best teacher i have had at St Pete thus far. He keeps the class moving and also keeps students intrest in the subject matter.He gave real life events and how they influence our own decisions. I took this class online during the summer. His due dates are very strict, so be aware of when everything is due. That being said, even though my class was accelerated, he didn't load us up with too much work and was helpful. The mid-term only is proctored and a bit difficult, but the final is not. The CTAP paper is very important, work hard on it!

This was my second time taking Ethics. The assignments he gives were pretty easy if you follow the directions. I got a C because I failed the midterm it was very hard and there is no study guide! I also didn't do so hot on the CTAP but if you ask for help he's willing to help you! The final was much easier then the midterm. I would take him again.

I am so happy professor Monroe taught a class at the Tarpon campus. His exams are not easy. But if you study, and especially pay attention to his notes you will pass! I got a B on the final and passed the class with an A. He offers extra credit, take advantage if that. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be taught by him. He's awesome.

Really cool person, but an awful lot of assignments for an ethics course if you ask me. You'll have to work for an A; however, he offers tons of extra credit so take advantage of it. You won't realize how much you need it until the end. The course moves slowly at first then picks up speed. Quizzes can be tricky.

Do your work and you will pass with an A. Lectures are more like funny personal stories. Finally a teacher that can relate to the information that is being taught. Funny and gets into his stories with a big passion. Very handsome fellow.

Best teacher at SPC

Honestly such a cool teacher. The tests are real easy and even if you don't do well on them they don't have a huge impact on your grade, allows you to re-write the first paper for a better grade, gives so many extra credit opportunities, and his lectures are hilarious. Even if you have no interest in this subject,take the class.

He's a Great Professor and a Nice person.

One of my favorite professors ever. He remembers all his students and genuinely tries to help you get the best grade possible. Discussions were short, papers were graded fairly with an opportunity to rewrite the first if you review it with him. Would take him again! Enjoyed this class a lot!

The Critical Thinking papers were hard for me to get right but there were so many other assignments I was still able to maintain a B. He is a good professor.

Took him online, and like any other online class it requires mostly self-directed learning from the textbook. However, he provided weekly updated quick and to the point videos of himself, which were helpful. LOTS of EXTRA CREDIT opportunities. Very organized, extremely fast grader, and was always there to help when you needed. Got an A :)

Prof. Monroe is a very good teacher in an online format. Took his class during summer online and he went so far as to have a face-to-face class tutorial one Saturday that was very helpful in completing his course. The class required a little bit of reading, but nothing unexpected. Emails and concerns were addressed promptly. I highly recommend.

Critical thinking papers are roughly graded. Do your assignments and you'll at least get a B.

His lectures are basically group discussions so everyone is involved and it makes class fun. The test are pretty hard if you don't study.

His classes are a lot of fun, with a main focus on discussions of topics. You can tell he has a real passion for ethics, and is very knowledgeable about philosophy in general. I had an interest in the topic coming into it, but the classes made me really think about ethics in a much deeper way, and examine ethical issues from many different angles.

Dave Monroe is a VERY good lecturer. He keeps you completely involved and actively entertained while he's talking. I've never seen a head down in his class and by the end of the semester, everyone wanted to participate. Tests can be hard if you don't take notes, but that shouldn't be an issue.

I took it online. One assignment or discussion and a quiz each week. Midterm is proctored but he gives you the info of exactly what you need to know for it. Final isn't proctored. He is a very grader an gives very clear expectations. Great class to take online, I actually learned a lot from it.

I took Professor Monroe for applied ethics during the summer. He only has you write two critical thinking papers (which if you follow the outline and rubric you should get an A) and gives you one in class test. Also the final exam is online and is only 30 questions max.

This class was truly a pleasure. Prof. Monroe clearly has a passion for the subject matter. His lectures are engaging and entertaining, and he is very respectful and encouraging. His grading criteria is incredibly clear and laid out for you, and as long as you follow it you should get an A no problem. Grades and responds to emails fast. Nice guy!

Mr. Monroe was flippen awesome. 100% Cool guy. Though most of every class is spent in lecture, it's a fun class! He makes lectures actually interesting because he cares. Dave was by far one of the best professors I have ever had. This class made me look at the whole world different, my relationship and my friends. He speaks so poetically and really makes you think outside of the box. I'd take this class again and again if I could. Very funny and down to earth as well. I'd highly recommend him to everyone.

I'm bad at attendance in most of my classes but the only thing that inspired me to get out of bed in the morning and come to THIS particular class were his entertaining and educational lectures. This guy is such an eloquent speaker and uses many effective examples. He really knows how to inspire his students to study. Pay attention and take notes!

The best class I had so far because of Prof Dave. He is inspirational, fun, approachable, and engaging. But he does expect work: 2 essay projects, presentation, and 2 exams. However, Dave encourages class participation to earn points and the final can be eliminated if enough points are earned. Extra credit is available too.

pros: his lectures are great. he makes things interesting. almost no homework. extra credit is offered. cons: entire grade is based on 2 papers, 2 small tests and final. tough grader.

This was an intro to logic class and I loved it! This is my third class with Dave and I would take more if I wasn't transferring with my AA. If only all teachers were this amazing :)

Strengths of this course: engaging, interactive, and downright hilarious! This was a very enjoyable experience even though it was early. Always had me thinking. The examples were thoroughly explained to make the most confusing of ideas plain. An endless supply of clear, concise, humorous, relevant, information. I love you DAVE you are the best!!

Test questions directly from his online notes so study them.

Monroe has been one of my favorite professors so far. He knows what he is teaching since he has taught for many years. He made Ethics interesting and tries to be interactive and understanding. There are many ways to get extra credit. He does a lot of lectures but there aren't boring. I would recommend to anyone who doesn't want boring lectures.

He was a very down to earth professor and he loves whst he does. Very clear grading criteria, two papers worth 20% of your grade each, I got a B on both and managed to get an A in the class. I would definitely recommend him

Super educated and down to earth. He's funny and barely gives assignments. Theres 3 main papers that are a big part of you grade. Gives lots of extra credit to help boost your grade at the end of the semester. Makes class enjoyable, the only teacher i would attend an 8 AM class for.

Mr. Monroe is one of the best professors here at SPC. His fun personality makes participation, which is mandatory, a breeze and effortless. He has great insight into the material and allows for it to reach everybody grasp. The textbook is used a few times throughout the semester for big points including a bunch of extra credit. It is relatively opinionated because it is ethics, the teacher gives you feedback. 1 critical paper for the semester. Teacher responds to email and grades you well. professor Dave is the best! I took summer semester for PhI1600. He is funny and he gave so many good examples for his students. He loves to talk and share his experience to every student. he teaches by his passion. you won't be regret if you take his class. Also, extra credits are available.

Definitely recommend Prof Monroe for PHI1600. The online class required a discussion/reply, 1 short paper, and usually a quiz each week. But he's always willing to answer any questions via email. Material is interesting. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities and 1 critical thinking essay due during midterms.

Had a great time in Dave's (that's what he prefers to be called) Intro to Philosophy class. He does an excellent job of explaining very abstract ideas while making the class entertaining, as well. If you have an interest in philosophy, you will probably find this class invigorating. Just make sure to show up and submit the (few) papers he assigns.

Dave is by far my favorite professor I've ever had! His essay assignments are VERY straightforward - with step by step breakdowns of what he expects for an A. His lectures are interesting & engaging. He's incredible at explaining concepts. There's only one quiz, a midterm, + final. He has nearly TWO letter grades worth of extra credit. Take him!

Dave was a great professor, I learned a lot from him. This class is easy to pass however you must work for an A. Test can be hard if you dont study and papers must be perfect for 100%. He once showed a documentary that was so boring I almost cried but besides that you should definitely take him.

Don't worry about attendance for attendance purposes, he won't take points off for absences. He has a very good attendance policy. However, it is IMPORTANT that you show-up for class. Attend his reviews. And the HW is required, it is also helpful for study purposes. He's an excellent professor and will help you understand.

I had Professor Monroe for an ethics class online and immediately chose him for another ethics class I took the next semester. His grading criteria is clear and he gives good feedback to what you are doing correctly or what you can improve on. For one of the ethics classes he even provided video lectures that were very helpful. Great overall.

Dave (he goes by Dave not Mr. Monroe), is a really great lecturer and his class is really entertaining. Readings are long. Test heavy, they are multiple choice but can be a bit tricky. No study guide but he posts his lecture notes and they are the best tool to study. Definitely worth taking as he is an interesting and genuinely great person.

Where do I begin?? I love Prof. Dave. I took him for ethics and again for philosophy at SPC Gibbs. These were easily some of my fav classes I have taken at SPC. He is very lecture heavy, so get ready for that. He really cares about his students and is really good at remembering names/occupations/special interests. Fun class with great atmosphere.

Nice professor, responds to emails quickly. Is there to help students whenever. Class basically consists of reading, quiz, and extra credit. Quizzes and exams are open book. Easy class, just stay on top of your reading and you will pass.

I took this class as a half-sem on top of being solely online, so yea there was a lot more hw due at the end of the week compared to someone who took the regular paced class. It wasn't the hardest, but it wasn't the easiest either. Time management is key because you definitely need to read the chapters to pass the quizzes and to understand the hw.

This class was very interesting, it relates with psychology as well. It talks about ethic morals and how behaviors occur. It requires reading from the book. It was tough in the beginning but it got much easier. Just be ready to read like any other class. Professor Monroe is very awesome and hilarious, he will give you opportunities to redo.

One of my favorite teachers I have ever had. As others said- he does understand you have a life outside of the classroom. He brings great subjects to the table that are relevant and easy to follow. Really such a great teacher. The one and only thing I can think of that is negative about Dave is that he uses a lot of movie references I didn't know

Professor Monroe has been an amazing professor! He completes recorded video lectures for online classes. He poses excellent and thought-provoking ethical discussions. He gives a lot of EC opportunities. The reading is interesting. I really enjoyed the class and Professor Monroe.

Dave is one of the best professors I've ever had. He has an extraordinarily laidback personality that is easy to get along with and he is more than accommodating with absences and anything else you need him for. One of the few classes I have that I genuinely look forward to every Monday and Wednesday.

I took this course during the summer (16 week course in 10 weeks) and it was more than manageable. Every week a discussion, quiz, and assignment was due but I'm sure the workload is much lighter during normal semesters. Professor Monroe was fair and quick to respond. Fair warning: this course requires an online textbook that you have to pay for.

definitely one of the best professors I've had. he is so understanding with late work if you tell him the situation and gives very good lectures. only 4 papers all semester, and they're really easy ones. not too many tests, and the tests are easy. I recommend flashcards to memorize theories. definitely would take again.

PHI2103 is an introduction to critical thinking and ethical decision making class. I could not have chosen a better teacher to take the class with. Professor Dave is very fair in his grading, and expects you to participate in class. I enjoyed learning in his class and genuinely looked forward to every lecture and felt prepared for the tests.

Professor Monroe was awesome! All of his writing assignments come with videos that he has made that provide specifically what he is looking for from each assignment, so you know exactly what he is looking for. Each module has reading, an open book quiz, a discussion post, and a writing assignment.

Professor Monroe was great. I took this class as express so it was a bit faster paced but that was expected. He included detailed instructions for all of his assignments, gave great feedback and was very quick responding to emails.

Honestly, Professor Monroe was an amazing teacher! Not only was he funny but he tried to make every class enjoyable whether it was corny dad jokes or interacting with the class. All jokes aside, Professor Monroe was very thorough in his lectures and also provided notes along with other learning materials for each module. I really enjoyed his class.

I would definitely take his class again but one thing is you cannot miss an assignment, this class is very hard to catch up in because it has assignments that take some time to complete. He does allow you to submit some writing assignments late but you have to submit them to pass which is understandable.

I loved Professor Monroe he was a great teacher. Very understanding if something comes up and you can't make it to class all you have to do is email him .He wants to see all his student's succeed. I would definitely take him again. He also offers extra credit so much that it will bump you up a letter grade!!

One of the best professors I have had! He is extremely caring, on top of grading, and is extremely gracious. I took this class with two hurricanes and wasn't stressed at all. Make use of all the extra credit if possible and if you stay on top of the work it will be fine! This class is a must-take, it has great information and a great experience.

I took this class online and loved how this professor allowed short videos/written summaries (your choice) of the weekly lessons to count your participation. Despite 2 hurricanes and working full time, I found the workload very easy to keep up with. Textbook is provided online and feedback is quick and helpful. Lots of extra credit. 10/10 professor

'Ancient Greek Philosophy.' Do it! Also took his Logic/Critical Thinking courses, informally audited others. Tough materials but follow his system, show up, take notes, participate. will be easier than appears. You'll have learned a lot. Professor is brilliant, very personable, cares. Best part: Dialogue as play with student actors. Extra credit.

Super interesting and funny, the class is very easy and Dave is very forgiving for late work.

This teacher is both relaxed and funny. His class is mainly him talking but he is very funny and engaging. If you need to take ethics take it with Dave and take it face to face.

Take his class! I've learned SO much thanks to his class and yet it wasn't insanely difficult or hard to keep up with. His lectures are very interesting and he has brought me close to tears several times because he's very funny, so definitely take him in person. He grades really fast, leaves insightful feedback, and loves to teach. TAKE HIS CLASS.

Professor Monroe is a really good professor! His work is quite easy and he grades fairly quick. He is also really leinent and understanding. The atmosphere is the class is really positive and he's very kind. I learned a lot being in his class. He is very passionate about ethics which makes it 100x better. I would definitely take it again. 10/10!

Summer Ethics class- 2 chapters a week- EASY workload. Online textbook quizzes are go until you get 100%. Easy discussion posts. Quick grader, quick responder. He and other teachers wrote the textbook. Take notes! Watch the videos he provides.

He answers you promptly, and even if the question is silly, he is chill about it. He's super understanding, so just email him if you need anything. He offers extra credit that makes a difference (at least 100 points worth). Our final was open note, God bless. Took this for a summer class, so it was fast paced, but his course was manageable, 10/10.

10/10 professor. He grades promptly, teaches very well, and overall cares for his students. His class is really fun and entertaining. He genuinely wants to see you succeed and has no problem helping you better understand things so long as you reach out for help. He offers tons of extra credit and that also helps greatly.

Professor David was a very funny and understandable professor. He would do 4 in class writing assignments for the semester along with some quizzes here and there but for the most part, just do the work and you easily pass! If you weren't able to make it to class for whatever reason, he wouldn't count it against you. Overall, definitely recommend!

He is an amazing professor. You can tell he really loves his job. The class is an easy A as long as you do your work and show up!
