One of the best accounting teachers. Tells you exactly what you need to know for the test and yet still manages to encourage you to not just memorize, but to think. Funny guy with very interesting insights on tax policy.

Nice enough guy, although he talks a lot about his political views. Class is very straight forward, dont even bother buying a book he gives you study guides that the tests are based off of. Tests are kind of hard, he tries to trick you with easy trap answers.

The curve was set so that a C was a 54 on the midterm (same for final), and there were still people that he was encouraging to drop his class. The final only got harder and longer. The textbook is useless, you need to use his version of the textbook which is the note packets. You have to go to class.

I would not take again. He curves the exams but your gpa will still go down and lots of people dropped and failed. Lousy class. Exams are 100% of grade and use the fill in the blank note packet to study.

I would not take again. This guy crams too much material into an exam. So many students did poorly which is why he curved it and even so, many students dropped the class. He is also an old guy so he got irritable at times for minor reasons such as recording his lectures even though he specifically said it was okay to do so. I would NOT take him.

You gotta go to class and study hard. He does go fast and his "textbook" is basically his fill in the blank lecture notes.

David Roberts knows he teaches a hard class so he does everything he can to make it easier for the students. His class is really catered towards your success and preparing you for the CPA exam. His materials are a must-have for studying for the CPA exam after graduation. Not an easy class. 2 tests & 1 paper. He'll tell you what to expect on tests.

His notes are clear and include applicable examples. If you listen in class, you retain most of it, because he communicates the concepts well. I passed reg a month or so later, barely studying, because of his class.

Extremely dense material, so you better study hard for the tests. He makes his own note packets which are useful. Only grades are two eams and a paper, but the overal course is on a curved grade scale. Very tough, and it's a lot of material to cram over 10 weeks.

Horrible Professor ! At $4,000 a class, this is scandalous. He sits and reads his notes for 3 hours straight. No power point, no computer usage during class. His notes are unacceptable ! He knows the material, but has no clue how to explain or teach. Students literally learn the material on their own. He is useless, but DePaul takes your $4,000 !!!

Roberts is an expert in taxation, but I wish he would've left his politics at home. I felt uncomfortable openly disagreeing with him. Pretty straightforward course: pick a subject, read your material, give a decent presentation, be able to discuss it intelligently when he asks you questions. Easy take-home final and term paper. Show up on time.

Makes handouts which are very helpful, summarizes the rules and gives examples . Make sure you don't leave studying until last minute, otherwise you are screwed. I fell behind and had to memorize tons of material just a few days before the test and it wasn't fun! Cares about students and is available outside class if you are unclear on something.

Great professor! Lots of material but explains everything giving great real world examples. Has CPA review videos online that are verbatim of what he teaches in class. Don't wait until the last minute to study or you wont do well and will fall behind very fast! Great course

If you have an option DO NOT TAKE him. He pretty much only teaches with his notes. All he does is just read his notes, no technology usage at all. He's exams are so heavy in material that he makes 52 a C-. It is rediculous the amount of material that you need to cover compared to other professors. If you take this you will be teaching yourself.

This was a TOUGH course. Don't wait to study because you cannot learn this stuff the day before the exams. I appreciated prof. Roberts' handouts and CPA review videos but I still had a hard time learning everything with just his lectures. He does heavily curve the exams; I got a 64 on the midterm and it was considered a C+ with the curve.

All he does is read of his notes. Talks so fast, that I have no idea what he is talking about. The class was unbearable to go through. Tax 2 is already hard enough and he makes it way worse than it is supposed to be. Don't get me wrong the guy knows his tax, but he doesn't know how to teach. Paid $4000 for a class for teaching myself.

The lectures are almost pointless, as he reads verbatim from his lecture notes provided to you. The only way his lectures help you beyond the notes are the few times he writes problems on the board, and when he tells you what in the notes will not be tested. The difficulty is near CPA level, so expect to study more than you ever have before.

Robert's class gets you CPA ready. Pay attention to the quizzes/lecture notes he hands out. I stopped using the Gleim book after the midterm because I felt it was overkill. He tells you the topics that will be tested on the midterm and final. There's a curve, 80 gets you an A, you'll realize why. If you're 3 weeks out from the exam start studying!

Prof Robert's class was very challenging, but the pay off is enormous. Work the handouts and quizzes in and out until you can do them in your sleep. It's manageable if you don't fall behind. From what I've heard, if you're in the MSA program, this is the best professor to take for taxes I and II. There's no easier way around it to my knowledge.
