General Psych teacher...he's great! very helpful and enthusiastic!

Awesome teacher. Made Psychology fun! Loves teaching!
Great class. Great teacher. He's a good guy and he knows his stuff. If you go to class, you'll do well.
He's a really loud talker but the class isnt bad.
Professor Dave is really nice. Take him for honors general psych if you can. Its no harder, you can actually talk/ask questions, and there are 1/10 the people. good class
By far one of the best professors I've had. You'll learn a lot in his class but he'll make sure you know how to use the knowledge. His tests are tough but you'll be fine if you study.
His class is really boring and he makes people think that his class is tougher than it really is. I don't know why so many people love him on this website, but everybody that I've talked to (including myself) can't stand him. Avoid him if you can.
Dave's class is very hard and you don't really know what is going to be on his exams and the book doesn't go with his lectures.
You know someone loves there profession when they actually use it on their pets! Ask him about his cat! = )
I really liked him. His tests aren't easy but he made you understand the material you were being tested over. I would def. recommend him as a teacher, wonderful.
Great teacher. Knows his stuff and gets his point across. One piece of advice: a lot of his stuff is from outside the book, so make sure you go to class or you will miss out.
Difficult, but very good teacher. Absolutely fair, helpful, and entertaining.
This guy is the bomb. He knows what he is talking about and has a ton of energy. Best of all he loves his students. The tests are pretty easy, and he always gives a major concept sheet before the test.
One of the best teachers I've had. GO TO CLASS, you'll ace the tests. They're all application, so make sure you don't just memorize things. It's college, not high school. He cares about his students and is always the happiest person! Thank you, Dave!
Class is very boring and unentertaining but it's pretty easy!!!
Awful, Awful man. The worst teacher at the U of A. Would not recommend him to anyone. Don't know anyone that had a good experience with him. Avoid at all cost!!!!
Go to class and you'll pass. The tests are easy and he tells you exactly whats on them. He's always in a good mood and if given the opportunity I'll take one of his classes again.
He is a great teacher and knows what he is talking about. The only bad thing is that his tests are really hard especially with the wording. going to class is a must to pass with a good grade.
great teacher! he knows what he's talking about, and he makes it clear. going to class is a must in order to get a good grade! start studying for the tests a couple days in advance!
I thought this was a hard class but he's a pretty good teacher. He knows what he is talking about and trys to help you understand everything.
Just go to class, and you'll be fine. He has very entertaining examples to illustrate his points, and he also gives extra credit sometimes just for being in class. Great teacher!
hes a great teacher. the class is easy and interesting. hes very helpful and gets his point through. everyone should take this class.
This guy is a wonderful speaker and very brilliant.... his tests KILLED me though! You have to be willing to put a lot of time into studying and you can't just now the definitions to the terms you have to actually be able to apply the terms to everyday life... I had to drop this class.
Class is interesting. Welcomes and answers all questions in class. Tests are not to be ignored-he does curves them. Dont bother reading the book; always attend class; sit middle, front, right- he teaches to that side. Always do the major concepts sheet & start early! I did it & easily got a high A.
The tests are long (70 q's) but aren't very difficult. Very few definition questions, it's all about applying the info to actual situations. Good teacher too.. he'll keep you on your toes and has some interesting stories.

This is the General Psyc. teacher to get. ESPECIALLY if honors!!!!
I fall alseep, and he is boring to me
I had him 1st semester of freshman year. He talked for 80 minutes about nothing that was on the tests! Then he'd put the major concepts out like 2 days before the test, not giving us any time to look them up and study them. I made a "D". My only D in my life!
he is a very good teacher. make sure you go to class everytime. i messed up by not going but you have to go. read the text and do the major concept sheets. if you know the major concept sheet then you will do good!
David Schroeder is the Psychology dept. head.......simply put he knows what he's talking about. His class is pretty hard and is really large but he's a great lecturer. If you can put up with a large class and have to take General Psych than there's no better teacher
he is an awesome teacher! always give examples!
This guy is horrible.
He's an awesome teacher. Treats you like college students and not 4th graders. Go to class because he gives bonus for attendence. His tests are not that hard, just go over the concepts sheet a night or two before the test and you will be fine. I did not open the book once the whole semester and got a B.
Dude.. his lectures were fricken' awesome. Funny funny man. Loved his class. Tests over the same concepts every year. Study his old tests and review the "ideas" that they cover and you'll do fine. His honors classes have a few essays on thier tests but they are not too bad.
I had him 1st semester of freshman year also. He talked for 80 minutes random things that were not on the tests to pass the time. Then he'd put the major concepts out like 2 days before the test, not giving us any time to look them up and study them. Overall, he is pathetic at best.
I had to study for this class, but it was really interesting and I learned a lot! He tests over concepts, so when you study look a lot at how things tie in together! Be sure to do the reading! Dr. Shroeder is a really nice guy and very fun! You'll enjoy the class!
I simply spent a good deal of time assembling a study guide with his major concepts sheet a few days before the test and ended up making a middle ranged A. I would also recommend going to the review session as the T.A. will yield additional helpful information. If anyone is interested in obtaining the three study guides, e-mail me at [email protected]
Awsome Professor. Makes a boring class for most a really enjoyable one. Make sure you go to class everyday though. I went over the Major concept sheet the night before the test and rewrote my notes and got A's on the test. This is the guy to take. Changed my major because of this class.
I never wanted to fall asleep.
Fantastic teacher! take good notes, and go to the study sessions and you're all set. He's wonderful, and really knows his stuff! definatly not boring!
I really enjoyed this class. He knows his stuff and gives amazing notes. Go to class! Dont miss the study sessions and you're set. His tests could be on the difficult side if you dont study in advance. I often studied only the night before and came out with a B. He gives you all you need to study
Best class I've ever had. He will make you more interested in psychology. He is very fair and fun.
Great Class and I have learned a lot
Really good teacher. Use the major concepts sheet! Take your textbook, highlight everything you can find on the concepts and read over it again. Takes a great deal of work but you will get an A. Do not take if you don't want to put in some effort, test are really hard if you don't study.
very good...loud. get about ten extra points if you go to class. concepts sheet is important. go to study sessions. very helpful
loved this class, made psychology really interesting do the concept sheet and you'll do fine
Phenomenal teacher - if you're not interested in psychology then the material is hard but he does an awesome job of explaining it. Use the major concepts sheets to review for the tests - they prepare you completely!
He is an awful teacher. I could not stand this class. . Do not get him as your teacher. If you do get out now. He gives you a major concepts sheet but it does nothing for you. He makes the tests too hard and does not teach well enough for you to do good in the class. I have never done bad in school until this class.
To study, pull out the class notes you took and *READ* the book. Fill out the major concepts as you go along. You will end up with about 6-8 pages of notes that are highly relevant to the test. Study that. You'll make high A's with no problem. I came to this class neutral to psychology, but he's an awesome professor and the content is interesting.
Honestly... Don't even do it. He's loud I'll give him that. He just isn't to clear. His tests are aweful. Needs to teach like a level 2000 class not 4000 level.
Schroeder is a brilliant professor. He uses examples, is clear, and makes it very clear the first week what you need to do as a student to succeed, and it's true. He's one of the best teachers I've had. Although I dont like school, I loved going to his class and listen to him lecture. He's a master in his field in teaching and research.
Excellent Professor--Course is hard, but thorough. He makes the coursework entertaining, but class discussions are always relevant. Tests are partially multiple choice, partially essay. Core concepts sheets are given in ample time to study. Attendance is not required, but if you don't show up, you will fail.--One of my favorite professors to date.

Go to class. He's a great instructor and some stuff he teaches is not in the book. I found that doing the major concepts wasn't necessary. He has a pretest available for download before every exam. Do it, it's very helpful. The tests can be difficult but if you attend class and study a little, you'll be fine.
Very very very good! He explains everything very clearly and makes the material easy to understand. I knew nothing about psychology before the class and I have become very interested in it after taking his class. Just make sure you go to class or else you won't get the material and do the major concept sheets (split them with others):)
He was a pretty interesting professor, but he tells you the first day that if you come to class and get all the bonus he'll help you if you are borderline at the end of the semester. Well I was 1% away from an A and he won't help me out. Its very frustrating.
Honors General Psychology: Dave is an excellent professor. He knows the course material very well and presents it clearly. Tests are challenging, but using the major concepts sheet GREATLY helps. I've never had a class where I've enjoyed learning the material so much. He's very kind and helpful, and cares about his students. Great sense of humor.
His class is awesome! He teaches us enthusiasticly and gives us lots of good examples.
I took this class as an honors class and it was really easy. He's really clear about what information you'll need to know for the test. If you go to the class and take notes and fill out and memorize the major concept sheet you'll be guaranteed an A. some of questions on the tests are straight from the practice test so take it.
He is a great teacher He teachers the information so it is interesting and easy to pay attention to. You have to take notes and go to class or you will struggle I haven't used my book yet and have a A If you study and fill out his major concept sheets before each test then your set to go He really wants you to do well! and the final is not comprehe
I hated this class. Schroeder does not care if you pass or fail his class and his TA is the only person you can talk to to get help.
He is very active in class and seems to really enjoy his job. He likes his students and wants them to do well. He is quite entertaining and he attempts to make the material interesting... Tests are hard, but he gives you practice study tests which help alot! Don't just memorize the sample test! The questions will be reworked with diff answers.
Take good notes and use them and the book to fill out major concept sheets and it will be pretty easy. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives around 10 bonus points (out of 400 points) for attendance.
Dr. Schroeder is energetic and cares about his students. His TA this semester Laura was awesome too! Tests are hard. Class isn't mandatory, but he gives out random attendance points and those extra points helped bump me up to an A. So go to class and enjoy the show!!!!!!!!
I did like Dr. Schroeder, though I must say going to class didn't truly help me on the tests. I completely recommend READING THE CHAPTERS FOR THE TEST! To be honest, I didn't really go to class much but I read the chapters fully and made notecards of the definitions and major concepts and got an A! :)
He's really a good professor, but his study guides contain too much information and the test are too broad! During the lecture he more specific.
I enjoyed the class & even thought I would get better than a C. His study guides contain a lot of stuff, but if you study in advance it helps. He always kept it interesting when you went to class, the only one I really enjoyed going to the semester I took it. If you want an easy A, don't take him but other than that I liked the class.
For a freshman required class this was ridiculous!!!! If you want a good grade and interesting teacher take Peters. He is boring, raises his voice, and does not teach!! Tests are incredibly hard. If you are not a psych major don't take unless you wamt to study your butt off and barely pass!!!!
Dr. Schroeder's psych class was quite interesting. I had it T/Th at 9:30 and was usually tired at the beginning of class but by the end was completely awake. He relates relevant and personal information to the material which helps considerably. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Tests come from lectures, study guides and old tests. Bonus points for attendance
Very interesting class but tough tests. I studied a lot for this class and couldn't pull off an A. If you want to learn a lot take this but definitely not a blowoff
It's been a few years, but it's good to see I wasn't the only one who found the info broad. Schroeder works hard to get your gears shifting, & I worked hard @ changing the way I thought @ the time; it pays off. & Yes, NOTES and EFFORT ar key in figuring it.
Schroeder is the best professor I have had at the University. I had zero interest in Psychology when I took his class, and he did a VERY good job getting my attention. He's a great professor with a lot to offer. Go to class, go over the review. If you can't make an A, something's wrong. These people below me don't know what they're talking about.
This guy very attractive. His wife is a lucky woman. Other than that his exerberance was very refreshing.
This is the best professor period.
Loved this class. Cool guy but not hot.
Crams WAY too much information into his lectures, tests are painfully over-comprehensive... don't take this as a freshman. It will overload you and make you hate college.
He is a great teacher and if you can get his class. He is fun and will always answer any questions you have. He isn't 100% serious all the time so he isn't strict. Over all great teacher to have!
I'm no psych major and I made A's on 3/4 of his tests just by cramming, he makes the information relatable and is very understanding. I enjoyed going to his class and the guide he provides is VERY helpful for taking notes, you don't HAVE to use the book but it helps a ton while studying. Overall I thought he was a fun, interesting GREAT teacher.
awesome professor. like most classes, you must go to get the notes and study. the book is necessary. he has very detailed study guides and is overall a great teacher. he even puts extra things to help you study online. extra credit is available at random for attending class.
He explains everything crystal clear, even repeats phrases you need to know. I didn't use the book AT ALL and got As on all exams. I took this as a freshman so don't be intimidated. The review sessions led by his student teacher will get you an A, guaranteed. Major Concept sheets are exactly the test. Great teacher! Very helpful
Great teacher! Occasionally difficult to focus in class because there is so much information packed into one lecture. Always willing to answer questions and help understanding. Tests can be pretty difficult, questions are asked in context-like form. Study as much as possible, there is no way you'll do good studying only the night before.
Schroeder is amazing. He's my favorite professor to this day. He uses funny stories to make complex theories more understandable for his students. He's always willing to help, just ask. Be warned - His exams are tough, but not if you truly know the material. I highly recommend him!
If you have to take general psych then I would take his class. However, the tests can be kind of hard. But for a big lecture class he helps you out a lot by giving study guides, practice tests, exam reviews, and bonus points. He is a great teacher, and always friendly to his students!
He was a great teacher, but I fell asleep a lot in his lectures because they were so long. You definitely have to take notes, go to the lectures, and read the book to be able to make a good grade in his class, but as long as you do that you'll make an A.
I loved Schroeder's lectures. They were very interesting and used a lot of great examples. His lectures are long, but he is very passionate about what he teaches- and it shows. Prepare for the tests, you will need it!
He is one of the best Psyc profs. in the department. His seminar course was fantastic and I loved going to class. Hate that I don't have more chances to take classes with him.
He's smart. His tests are tough. Dadgummit this guy is hot!
VERY difficult, mandatory class attendance, tests are beyond difficult. most people in his class struggle
He was a good teacher and tried to keep class interesting. He tried to be funny, but didn't always succeed. His tests are fairly difficult, but he gives you a test review that tells you exactly what concepts are on the test. Overall very good! I would recommend. Class isn't mandatory, but what he says in class is on the test, so it helps!
You have to go to class and keep up with the textbook if you want to succeed. Tests are pretty difficult but he gives you exactly what you need to do well on them. He really wants to help and makes class really interesting with personal examples, etc. You actually LEARN a whole lot from his class; this is the definition of "higher education".
Great teacher! Takes an interest in your success. Gives you all the material to Succeed in his class. DO THE MAJOR CONCEPTS SHEET!!! It has all the info for the test.
EXCELLENT TEACHER! He really cares about psychology and I actually wanted to go to his class every week. Teaches in a way that anyone can learn, tests are easy if you study the major concept sheet and attendance is not mandatory, but you will not do well on the tests if you do not go. I would recommend him over any other psychology teacher!
Go to class (you get bonus!) and read the book, it helps for tests. Really nice and can tell he likes what he teaches.
Very awesome person and professor! Answers and explains all questions very clearly. His tests are very difficult but if you go to class and take notes you will do fine. I recommend studying after each week of class
Awesome, awesome teacher. His way of lecturing is definitely my favorite! He is very good at explaining and incredibly willing to help at anytime. He is such a nice guy and has a great sense of humor. He does give random extra credit for attendance. Definitely pick Schroeder for psychology! He is the best and loves what he does.
Annoying because he expects you to get a c on all the tests when tests are the only grades.
Schroeder is a very difficult teacher. I took advanced psychology in high school and studied my butt off for every single one of his exams and could only get B's, which is fine except for your only grades in the class are the 4 test. If looking for a good grade in the course--I would recommend a different teacher.
Nice guy but he is one of those professors who won't lecture over everything that's going to be on the test, nor will he test over what's in the book. You have to take notes on his lecture and take notes from the book to do well. Even then his questions are quite difficult and it's very hard to get A's on his tests.
He is a great professor and I really enjoyed the lectures, but his tests are really hard and are really the only grades given. You have to commit your own time to reading the book and study a couple weeks in advance for these tests.
Really tough tests and you have to attend psych studies for no points
He is a good teacher, very clear. Going to his classes helps understand the material. He gives out a concept sheet before every test, its better if you have the textbook and the manual with you it make it easier. I recommend doing a review of all the major points before every test. He sometimes gives extra credit when you attend class.
Tests are difficult. Follow the reading plan, and really know the material. You have to apply what you've learn to different scenarios on the tests.
Interesting class and a good professor.
He's a very good teacher, makes the material interesting. Sometimes gives extra credit for showing up to class. Would take again.
He is a great teacher and writes everything down. Very good for students who are visual learners like me. He uses diagrams and examples for everything he teaches. Funny and respectable, I would recommend him!
He was very good, but very boring. Just study and you'll be fine.
His lectures make the topic pretty interesting , his test are difficult in a way you have to really know the material and understand it.
His lectures are really interesting. You need to take good notes and study a lot. Go to the reviews every time. A lot of people didn't go to them until the end. They make it so much easier. He gives extra credit points just for you being in the class on random days so GO.
He makes class fun and talks about real life examples and how we might have been affected. Class is interesting, but you won't pass if you don't pay attention and take notes. Study the way he explains in the syllabus and in the first week of class. Got and A and had a lot of good feedback from him with every question. Amazing professor
I took this class because I thought I would enjoy it. It ended up wrecking me. The teacher is great and the information interesting but the tests are pretty hard. Don't take it lightly. He does give extra credit just for attending and that helps.
I took this class because I was interested in psychology, and I actually ended up changing my major to it. You'll need to go to class if you want to pass. He often covers things that aren't in the textbook, but if it is in the textbook, he clarifies it. He relates topics to real-life situations and has a unique sense of humor.
He's such an awesome guy and teacher! One of my favorites. He understands when life gets in the way. Make sure to go to class because he gives a lot of extra credit. Also make sure to study for his tests the way he explains! Tests are tough!
Some of the lectures are interesting, but some of them drag on. The questions on the test were very tricky, but he does give some bonus points for going to class.
I enjoyed taking Dr. Schroeder's class my first semester of freshman year last year. His lectures were interesting and not straight from textbook pages. If you take his exam review outlines for each test seriously and study them you will do great on the tests. The random attendance extra credit he does also helps your grade a lot!
This is by far the best Professor I've had, he is very passionate about his course and could tell you about it in his sleep. He explains it very well and clearly. The exams aren't bad if you study, take his advice about study habits it helped me get an A.
Seriously knows his stuff! He says everything exactly how it is, from the material to how tests will be structured and how you should prepare. If you listen well and do what he says, this class should be a breeze. Attendance isn't mandatory but I highly recommend it because tests are in his own words, not straight from the textbook!
Dr. Schroeder is awesome! He really knows what he is talking about and you can tell that he enjoys teaching the class. He gives study guides which really help for the exams. Attendance isn't mandatory, however he gives out random extra credit for showing up to class and I studied off of my notes from class and made an A. Highly recommend him!
GREAT professor, but it is simply just an extremely hard class. The only grades are tests and they are difficult. You absolutely need to go to class because that is when he explains all of the notes and gives you a better understanding of the material that will be on the test. Don't take this class unless you are willing to put in a lot of effort.
He is the best professor I've ever had! His lectures go very in depth; if you go to class, you won't need your textbook if you pay attention to what he says and take good notes. There are 4 tests total, they can be difficult if you don't know the concepts. You can't just know definitions, you have to know how they are applied. Overall, take him!
Professor Schroeder is a fantastic lecturer. Psychology is super intimidating but he simplifies it so that it makes a lot of sense. He is hilarious and knows psychology very well, I wish he wasn't retiring so I could take another one of his classes!
His lectures are absolutely amazing! I did not expect to be so engaged with psychology, but he made it so interesting! There's so much to brag about this professor, but unfortunately, he is retiring. Sorry future psychology students! You won't be able to experience the most incredible psychology professor at UARK.
