Professor Solie is a difficult grader and is not very lenient on what he grades. He is also not specific on what he wants you to know for tests. The midterm is difficult and the final is difficult as week because we never go over information in class and we're expected to know it all. Tough grader on presentations as well.

It is more of a psychology class than a speech class. I am not really sure if we have learned any specific vocab words all semester. My first two speeches were terrible and I got high B's. Third was really good and only got a low A. Two tests all year, midterm and final. Really easy, but he doesnt really tell us what to study so you are on your own

The content in the class is not difficult to comprehend, so he compensates by talking about the importance of basic principles. His lectures get repetitive, but he really is there to help your future. You only perform three speeches so it's not a lot time spent on the podium. Definitely one of the most dedicated professors I've had.

I loved David. He was always peppy and made me feel inspired at least once a class. You have three speeches which are fairly easy, and one of which is a group speech on a organization in La Crosse. As long as he sees you improving, coming to most of his classes, and doing your work you'll do just fine. You HAVE to practice your speeches for an A.

Solie likes to push his students to do their best, but he makes everything too complex. I have friends who have taken the same speech class, and they've done nothing in comparison to what I had to do. If you're going into communication for your major, take David as a professor. But, if you're just taking it for GE's, choose a different professor.

Dave is a super nice teacher and understanding. Loves when you participate & talk in class. His class does get boring at times and hard to pay attention to especially at 7:45. Strict on outlines for paper. He's one of the only professors that gives a midterm and final which was a little annoying.

Professor Solie really cares about his students and during the group projects he tries his best to make sure everyone shows up and helps. His lectures can get long and rambly but you can tell he is passionate about the material he teaches. Make sure you follow the outlines as he grades harshly and if you don't follow them your grade will suffer.

The first speech is rough but once you understand the grading its much easier. Connect with him on any level and i promise you will do better if you try to have genuine conversations with him outside of class. Take good notes and the mid term and final exam should be easy.

Very passionate and cares about his students. There are three speeches throughout the whole semester, a midterm and a final. The midterm and final are both open note so it's easy to get a good grade. Lectures can feel a bit long because you learn a few new things but usually it is just a repeat of previous learned content.

We had 3 speeches, one being a group speech, and a midterm and final. Which are both open note. The class itself is easy, the rubrics are easy to follow but he is a hard grader, even when you follow all of the directions there is still something that you "didn't do right". Attendance isn't really mandatory barely anyone ever showed up. Easy overall
