Very interesting class, and Prof. Wied. is a cool professor. He is clear on assignments and instructions. If you show up, participate and do the homework you will pass easily. He gives bonus assignments that you must complete if you need a quiz reopened.
This guy is your classic fitness nut teacher. Squeezes the most out of a 1 credit class. You'll have to show up to work out 3 times a week, take a quiz once a week, write a paper, a few other BS assignments like track what you eat, and then hope you have at least a B in the class before the final because its impossible to pass and will hurt you
This guy is kinda crazy. The class is 1 credit three days a week and he does the absolute most that you can possibly do. Quizzes every week, MUST be at workouts, cause even if your workout log is complete he will find a reason to not give you all the points. Tough grader on the extra assignment as well. He allows a not card on the final.
really cool teacher, very straight forward and very clear instructions for his assignments. took his class as a mini mester and it was really enjoyable!
I took proffesor wied for a mini may and I got an easy A . His homework assignments & 9 quizzes are super easy if you read the book. 1 easy essay & Attendance is mandatory & He does offer bonus assignments. Overall he was a nice and funny professor. Does take of points for late assignments. (5mns is considered late). Final ismultiple choice
Prof Wied is a great instructor! I took him for a May mini-mester (3wks) and he made his class easy for you to pass. He gives bonus assignments and responses to email within 24hours. Physical activity is required (duh! its a phys ed class).
I took him during a May mini-mester and he is such a great proffesor! if this is a mandatory class I 100% recommend him. There's some homework but it's easy, makes class interesting, never boring, just do what is asked.
Not a big fan of the guy. Hes pretty annoying and has some stereotypical views of women which gets quite bothersome when you are a woman. Apart from that, hes a pretty easy grader. Just do the work outs and the hw. Btw, the workouts are based around resistance training. Hes not a cardio guy... at all..
Attendance is a must. He has a great personality. You have to workout, mostly weights no cardio but he explains why and it makes since and its true. Homework is easy and as lttlevas a half sheet of paper. Test and quizes are easy and simple.
Attendance is mandatory during the summer. You will be working out everyday you're in class. There's 3 quizzes and 1 final. He has a few lectures. He shows all the students each type of exercise and the different ways to do them. Students are required to keep an exercise log that is given in the beginning of class. Wonderful teacher. Lots of fun.
He is overall great! If you want to get an A in this class, take him. You will have to attend every class and put some effort during class hours, but it is worth it. Quizzes are easy and the final is comprehensive.
Fairly simple class! All about the strength training, absolutely zero cardio! Start the paper early, read the powerpoint presentations, don't dip out early in the "gym", and increase your intensity on your fitness log. Follow those rules and you'll be able to get an "A" for sure.
Really chill class, he was funny and i really enjoyed attending it. The class did have exercising but i would deafeningly take it again.
Hes a great professor, you learn about your health and how to workout. You dont do cardio in here you do weightlifting and its a good start if youre planning on going to the gym. If you ask me, I think he should get a six digit raise.
He's abrasive and sarcastic but not in a bad way. Pretty good guy over all. The course was not hard, just don't miss and do the work. It is gym so there isn't much to do anyway.
Kind of a "Tough love" professor. I though he was funny, and knew what he was doing. It's an easy A, you just have to put effort into getting it.
Definetly a tough grader, just do the assignments and you'll be fine. Make sure to follow the rubric. Make sure you show up!
Kind of confusing, but cool and really funny.
Coach Weid has incredibly entertaining lectures and I enjoyed his class very much. He is very patient when teaching new exercises. His humor is a bit abrasive, but it is not abrasive in a bad way - he's just really sarcastic. Good class and I definitely recommend.
He is tough grader ever. I regret to take his class. Do not recommend.
He is very knowledgeable in weight lifting, safety and health. I learned to do workouts with proper form. Highly recommend his class for those looking to start working out!
Took his class in the May Mini 4 week, and while it was annoying going to school every day for hours at a time he made it very enjoyable. He made jokes most teachers don't but in a way you have to laugh because they are still good jokes. Very loving guy. P.E is P.E so take it for what it is.
I took this class in a regular 16 week and it was not enjoyable at all. Attendance is required, so make sure you NEVER miss class or you will have to make it up on an off day. There is a super easy weekly textbook reading and quiz. Wied is a tough grader and takes points off for the smallest things. He is VERY strict about gym workouts as well.
8 week course. Attendance is mandatory! if you skip a workout you MUST make it up! online HW & book, just read. Prof Wied is a total biased "BRO", sometimes contradictory to what the textbook teaches. Make sure to follow specific directions or he will take points off. Overall, great Prof, learned a lot and please dont be scared of him, ask question
Really enjoyed this professor and while the class was pleasant, the work itself took a lot of time and was very tough. He definitely knows what he's doing and was a very instructive teacher.
WORST. CLASS. EVER! Unorganized, and not willing to help clarify. If you don't understand something, it's your fault and he will let you know. Took this ONLY because it was REQUIRED! I Won't be graduating because of this professor.
This teacher was great at first. Everything was going smoothly and it wasn't too hard. It all went downhill when it went online. The teacher made everything a puzzle to find where to submit stuff and how he wanted it submitted. He also took forever to send feedback saying I was doing the workouts wrong. DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE EVER. I barely passed.
I took him for a 2nd session minimester in Summer 2019. His class consists of teaching physical education principles and then working out for the rest of class. He would always help answer questions and help with form while in the gym if asked. He knows lots of exercises in case you need the variability and has an emphasis on cross training.
Very unprofessional and emotional when it comes to grading. He will fail you simply because he wants to and because he can. I was an A and A+ student in his class but barely passed the class with a B- because of his pettiness. The textbook is required, there are a total of 14 chapters and quizzes you have to complete or he will fail you. DONT TAKE!
I took his class right before the pandemic hit and was in person once we had to stay home the class was awful. He didn't want to compromise in the tough times. There was a paper on hypokinetic diseases and if your family has them and I didn't know part of my family and he took points off my essay because I didn't know enough family members.
I enjoyed Professor Wiederrecht's class. Attendance is mandatory but will fail if you don't make up missed days. Textbook is required for online assignments that must be completed. When grading and in class he gives constructive feedback if necessary, he answers emails. Assignments are graded on time. Would take his class again!
I just took this class to get the credit; overall, his D2L layout is super confusing, he would occasionally make inappropriate jokes/ talk about things that made people uncomfortable, and he would take off points on things without explaining why. I do not recommend taking this professor, but it was not hard to pass his class in person.
I just took this class to get the credit. overall his D2L layout is super confusing, he makes inappropriate jokes that are uncomfortable, and he would take off points on things without explaining why he marks in such a way that he counts attendance towards your grade that missing a day of class lowers your grade. This professor should not be taken.
David Wied is actually a good Professor! Very blunt but funny at the same time.
Throughout the class, he's apparent in wanting you to succeed. Not only in the classroom, but he strives for you to take what you have learned and use it to move away from a sedentary lifestyle. Attendance is a part of the grade. He took time out of his day to allow me to make up missed sessions due to work. Overall, I learned a lot from him! 10/10
Very fun to be around, You'll pass the class as long as you show up.
He is a very difficult professor, but I heard he's one of the best ones. I thought this class would be much easier but it wasn't, but it also taught me how to work out in a good way and motivated me to continue going to the gym. He is a good professor because he actually teaches you about health, but be ready to actually work really hard and sweat!
Funny Prof and while a tough grader has has clear rubrics for the assignments in the class. He seems a bit depressed but is a overall all positive person and really wants everyone of his students to succeed in life.
I took Professor Wiederrecht during the 4 week summer course. He was very thorough and knowledgeable in health and fitness. His syllabus was accurate and he got back on emails very quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed his course and he is very passionate about what he teaches which made the course more enjoyable. I would take him again.
If you plan on taking his class in person, just be prepared to give your all (or the best you can). also to lift weights, and do pullups. I will say, that while his D2L is somewhat confusing, it is not impossible to navigate. I think he truly just wants to help us be healthier, and I will continue to go to the gym after taking his class.
Professor Wiederrecht is a great professor. He gives great lectures & is funny without trying as well. He pushes you to succeed as well & is real with you. You do have to show up to class on time. The class definitely puts you in a great position of doing workouts you didn't think you'd be able to do. I definitely recommend!
The slightly depressed middle-aged man who's in a constant, internal battle between his love for pizza and need to be fit. He has one essay (5 paragraphs) based on Cronometer and some of the material he teaches. Hardest assignment was this chart that outlined a specific exercise. Do the quizzes, please you'll have to do them eventually.
Dr. Wied. is a funny, sarcastic guy who genuinely wants students to be happier and healthier. The workload is fairly light, just make sure you turn assignments in on time. His D2L CAN be difficult to navigate, but as long as you pay attention in class and follow directions you'll be fine. He's a great professor when he isn't contemplating his death
Having Professor Wied was an amazing experience. During the lectures he would be clear about the info that was given and would teach in a way that I personally thought was fun. During the workouts it was mostly independent, but he would also help if you needed it. You didn't need a textbook which is a plus! I'd 10/10 take him again!
I've been an all A student for the longest, until I took this class. I turned in an assignment on time only for him not being able to see it and just blaming it on me. It happened to be a very important one. I resubmit several times to see if he could see it but it wasn't working and he took points off for being late and for being "incomplete."
Professor Wiederrecht was a very good professor in my opinion, and genuinely cared in his own ways about our physical health. He can be funny and also sometimes awkward, but his class is very informative. If you show up and always participate you will pass this class also their is one essay but it is not difficult at all. You will learn here.
I just took the class for the credit. He's a very tough grader. How he graded assignments didn't make sense, and he focused on every detail. He's knowledgeable when it comes to actually teaching and being in the gym and can be helpful, but the grading is unnecessary. The D2L was very unorganized and frustrating if you needed something done fast.
Mr. Wied is a different type of professor. Many low ratings here say he's a bad professor, but that is subjective. If you don't take him too seriously he's a funny guy. You should pass the class just fine if you do everything instructed. It's your fault for not paying attention if you miss quizzes in d2l, he explained how to access them on day one.
Mr. Weid is different from most professors (in a good way). As long as you actually participate in the class and try, you will get a good grade. He is a little tough on grading, as he sticks very close to the provided rubric. The people that are complaining about the D2L layout didn't listen, he explained everything on the very first day of class.
Professor Wied is brilliant, he wants every student to pass.
The Professor was pretty cool, and I learned a good amount from him. However, I feel like the class was a lot harder than I thought it would be because the workout was a lot shorter than I thought it would be. I feel like there is something wrong with my grade, so it has been pretty stressful for me to take the class, but it is fine.
Conveys what you need to do and how to do it clearly. Also is willing to help if you ask. Only really difficult part of the class was the workout, but you don't always have to fully complete your sets. Other than that, the class is easy if you do your work before the due date and correctly. Overall, a great professor.
Dr. Wiederrecht is a great professor ! Everything is straight forward and expectations are set on the first day of class. He stands by what he says, so make sure you participate and do the assign work and it is a easy A in the class. He does not fail students, students fail themselves by not following directions ! So make sure you give your 100%.
A well structured and managable class. Dr. Wiederrecht is the best professor for any kinesiology majors.
Professor Wied is my favorite professor at Lone Star. He grades fairly, and as long as you show up, participate, improve your lifts, learn the Turkish get-up, and write a simple essay, you'll earn an A. His dry humor made class enjoyable, and I looked forward to every session. His teaching style was engaging and motivating.
Be prepared for the turkesh get up and make sure you pay attention in class becuz its going to be on the test.follow directions on the 5 paragraph essay do not put any details or he will take away points.
Prof Wied is funny and entertaining. The assignments are easy if you listen in class, so just pay attention and you'll do well. He's always willing to help with exercises and anything else in the gym.
Prof Wied is funny and engaging. If you pay attention in class, you'll do great. The assignments are pretty easy; just make sure to listen to when the deadlines are and exactly how he wants them to be done. He's always willing to help with anything in the gym, including showing you new exercises and other proper ways to do the required ones.
I enjoyed taking Coach. Wied's Phed class. He was funny and cracked jokes all the time during class. His assignments were sometimes hard but for the most part pretty standard stuff. You definitely want to complete the quizzes on time or else there will be more work for you to do than to just get it done! Overall a pretty fun and easy class to take.
Dr. Wied's class is pretty easy as long as you pay attention. He's very straightforward about how he expects assignments to be done. Pay attention to it and keep track of the due dates. If you stay on top of those things, you'll do good.
Prof. Wied is a great professor, all his jokes are hilarious with witty humor and he has a friendly personality. He also shows you how to do any exercise that you may need help with and he makes sure you do it properly and makes sure you're being safe and careful.
Overall, I would definitely recommend taking this class! I enjoyed it. The professor is very funny, and lectures are interesting. Just BE SURE TO TURN YOUR WORK IN ON TIME!! A quick overview of this course for my Dual Credit kids: 9 Quizzes 1 Essay 4 Training logs 3 Day food log Several SMALL assignments Final Exam Again, overall great class!
Great speaker, his lectures are engaging and helpful to learn the course material. You CANNOT skip a day of class or you'll fail. You dont want to be like me and have to make up 8 missed days in 2 weeks. All in all a good professor who'll get on your ass for not applying yourself.
Lectures are helpful for learning the material. Attend all classes you have to do all days of training or you'll fail. He's a good professor overall that I would recommend.
Overall, Professor Weid. is a good choice for any course he might provide, as along side hai sense of humor he also stays on point with his lectures and demonstrations. You should definitely stay on track with your assignments however, as if you do not follow the syllabus he gives you, you'll be stuck doing bonus assignments.
Prof. Wiederrecht is a very good professor and I would recommend him for anyone taking PHED 1164 in the future. He has very clear grading criteria and due dates for every assignment. If you just follow directions, you'll do great in his class. If you ever need help don't be afraid to ask, his tips for workouts are very clear and helpful.
Amazing lectures, amazing personality, and well teaching too. All I can say is to please be on top of your assignments if you plan on taking this professor, but otherwise, good teacher overall. Lectures are always filled with jokes here and there as to not make it bland but entertaining. Fair professor all-around.
Good professor and he's very active and funny
Good professor and explains stuff pretty well, plus he's funny
Honestly This is class is easy if you pay attention and do your work. Everything you might possibly need is on D2l. Some assigments are a little confusing but if you do your work on time and pay attention to what he says you should be fine.
This class was very enjoyable, I geniunely feel like I gained more knowledge on how to exercise. The work isn't diffcult, just make sure to do it on time.
Only reason he has a lot of good reviews is because its an assignment to go on here and review him and then email him your review. The actual work is pretty straightforward, But he makes it unnecessarily hard.He used to be Ex-Navy so be prepared for super strict and stern. he does help you with stuff when you ask which is great.
Ensure you have time to complete and turn in your homework on time.
Kinda easy class, learned a lot about weightlifting. He yaps a lot and makes weird jokes. Odd attendance policy, I'm a dual credit student and my high school doesn't even care that much. Just keep up with assignments,it's manageable. Oh and yes he does have a bonus assignment where you can write a review here, so that is why he has a high rating.
Make sure you have time to read and complete assignments on due dates. He is a good instructor, but he is very strong on completing assignments on time.
saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
He's an overall good professor, just make sure to show up and do the work. If you do that you will be fine.
Very good professor that communicates clearly and has great lectures. Also is a funny professor that helps you change your life.
He was really good. I learned HIGHLY valuable information from this class that I WILL use for the rest of my life. If I had any sort of trouble in this class it was my fault (at least ALMOST entirely). As long as you can follow simple instructions and listen you will learn and you will be happy.
Very nice professor that's also funny. The class has multiple quizzes and the workouts are easy. He gives you lots of opportunities to get extra credit.
too much for just 1 credit
He is a nice professor. His class is super easy as long as you do the homework, which isn't a lot, and the daily workouts. If you missed an assignment he gives you an opportunity to redo it. He's funny too. Just know you are actually gonna do real work out thats gonna have you sweating and burning those calories!
Great professor, he's really funny and is very clear and thorough with his grading. He gives great feedback and advice when you're working out.
He's very funny, gives clear grading criteria and gives great feedback and advice when it comes to working out. He's very knowledgeable about his field!
Easy class when the work is completed. 29 day of training is a requirement to pass the class. Don't skip any training days. Easy A, don't be lazy.
