Great Teacher! There are a few tests which cover lectures and reading. DO THE READING! You might even want to read a chapter ahead of what is supposed to be on the tests. I found a few questions we hadn't covered yet. He's the best teacher I've had.

Hard as hell, but great teacher.

Serious polisci majors trying to get into law or graduate school-take polisci professors with last names that begin with "W"--Woodard and Warber are tough and demanding but they will prepare you well. I took both of them and would not have been confident about law school in the fall without taking their challenging courses.

Great teacher and lecturer, makes boring material interesting. His tests are hard, and he grades them even harder, but its definitely worth it.

Great teacher! All poli sci majors must take him! Test are hard but you learn tons of information. "Grades don't matter, its about knowledge." That's Woodard's favorite saying but he is willing to help at any time.

Take Woodard if you wanna be a lawyer or poli sci major. If not, RUN FAR FAR AWAY!! Take sociology, phychology, anything but this class. No point in putting in a whole lot of work for a class that is pointless for your major for a FREAKIN C.

Woodard had classic good looks, charisma, and a voice that flows like silk. Added to his endless knowledge -- what more could one want? Watch out James Bond!

"Life is hard, Woodard is hard." Study for his class! He is very helpful, but you have to be willing to ask for it. Woodard seems unapproachable, but he is not! Go to his office and ask for help if you need it. It is a difficult but managable course.

Tests are not that bad if you take good notes, which means you must attend lecture regularly. You get a grade for attendance. He does curve the tests. Homework is easy, takes about 30 minutes to complete. Woodard is a nice guy, very conservative. It isn't difficult to get a good grade. If I can, you can. Take him, you'll learn a lot.

I have both Woodard and Warber this semester and have never worked this hard in my poli sci classes before. I admit that I do no always like the heavy workload in these classes and I have heard horror stories that they are the toughtest graders in poli sci but I'm sure I will appreciate their methods of teaching later when I am in law school.

Woodard was the best Poli Sci teacher I've had at Clemson. He is very difficult, but I studied my butt off and got a 99 on the first test so it's really not impossible. Just take REALLY good notes and listen when he makes lists of things.

Woodard is a difficult teacher but you will learn more from him than in any other course. If you are not afraid of work take him.

Great guy, very helpful and humorous. If you can keep up with the readings and go to class then you will have a chance, if you don't, then don't expect much. Likes to joke around with his students I wouldn't recommend him if you aren't able to take a joke.

Woodard is my favorite professor OF ALL TIME! He was amazing, funny, and I learned so much for him. If you're looking for an easy A, stay away from his class. But if you're looking to learn about the subject and don't mind reading a lot, his class is certainly the most rewarding. I wish I wasn't transferring so I could take more of his classes.

Extremely friendly guy -- reacts well with the class. Course is difficult but I don't regret taking it. If you read and listen to his lectures, you shouldn't struggle too much. Also, if you're a liberal... expect to get ragged on.

No Dr. Woodard, I will not give you a chili pepper. Class is really hard, tests are impossible, the paper's ridiculous and he's a crazy Republican. But if you can get past all of that without crying, you might like his lectures and youll learn a lot. Dont take his class if you have a GPA to protect, he'll destroy it with a smile. VEEEERRRY Hard, if your not willing to work your butt off to make a decent grade then this class isnt for you. He claims he is the "prince of darkness" and it is true. but he is an interesting teacher and he knows what he is talking about

Very sweet and helpful, his door is always open, but I won't lie his class is killer. He even told me that "it's an easy D if you're willing to work." Worth the effort though because he knows his stuff and genuinely cares for his students. Very Conservative so watch out Democrats! I would recommend him to those willing to work hard.

Wood, I refuse to give you a chilipepper. His class was interesting, yes, however he can and will destroy your GPA with a smile and a pat on the back. ROTC and others with a GPA to protect... stay away, stay very far away. He proclaims he's the Prince of Darkness and it's not far from the truth. On the bright side, he is extremely helpful.

he will not hesitate to say your papers are full of head diarrhea, or that we aren't in tiger high anymore. great teacher--knows his stuff. what else can you say for someone who went jogging with H.W. bush?

Woodard and I, we have a love hate relationship. He knows his stuff! I hate it because I can't do as well as I usually do, but he's absolutely fantastic! Be ready to work if you are in his class! He's ALWAYS open to help you. One of my favorite teachers, but he's ready to crush you anytime of the day. Be ready for criticism.

He is extremely tough but is brilliant!! Be prepared to work your butt off in the class, but it is well worth it. Study groups are a great idea if you want to pass the exams. Papers will be ripped to shreds regardless of how well you write because "this is college and we are learning college things." Dr. Woodard here is your chili pepper lol!!

Dr. Woodard is extremely tough in Political Theory. Do not take him if you aren't willing to earn your grade. If you are willing to work, enjoy a good joke at the expense of a democrat take him!

Overall, Dr. Woodard is a very good professor. Despite his claims of being, "the prince of darkness" he is very understanding and compassionate. I learned more in his class than I had in any prior class. Be aware that he is a tough grader, but a little hard work can earn you a B in his class.

Dr. Woodard is the best professor I ever had in college. He will admit he is a tough teacher, but at the same time he truly cares about his students. Demands quality and solid arguments. If you want to learn and show it, you will do fine. Liberals be warned, he will eat for breakfast. Awesome instructor who has become a great fiend and mentor.

Dr. Woodard was a fantastic teacher. He is difficult and you definitely have to keep up with your reading in his class but it's worth it. He makes the subject very interesting. He is really conservative but he isn't going to hurt your grade just for being liberal. I would definitely recommend taking him

He made me want to drop out of college at first, he was so hard. But if you are willing to learn, he will reward you. By far one of my favorite professors. Incredibly difficult for a 100-level class, but I learned much more than American Government. He is a GPA wrecker, but he will teach you how to learn.

It would be a lie to say this class was easy, but despite the grading this is a professor whose classes I enjoy taking. It's worth the work to feel as though I am actually being challenged to learn and write more effectively by someone with intelligence and practical experience. And he deserves as many chili peppers as he can get!

Dr. Woodard is a great professor, but prepare to work hard. His tests are no joke, but if you go see him he'll point you in the right direction.

Dr. Woodard is probably the coolest professor I have had yet. He could run for the president. He knows his stuff. This is not an easy class, but of you want to know more about American Politics than you thought possible, take his class. He is sooo funny. Don't be scared of him. He may seem a bit intimidating at the beginning.

If you want to experience what college is actually supposed to be and have a very knowledeable professor that will challenge you to grow, then Dr. Woodard is your man. If you're wanting an easy A and don't really care about the material, you may want to look somewhere else.

I had him my freshman year in college and his class is amazing! It's hard but be attentive in class and do your readings and you will do well. He's a hard grader and will definitely challenge you. I didn't make the grade I wanted but I learned a lot and had a ton of fun.

Woodard is the best professor. Clemson University is lucky to have him. It should me mandated that every student take one of his courses, political science or not, before they are allowed to graduate. You will never work so hard or learn so much

A true conservative, hard to come by at Clemson, who refuses to water down the material. If you graduate Clemson with a political science degree and never took Political Theory with Woodard then I feel sorry for you, your degree is useless. He may knock your GPA down, but you'll walk away feeling accomplished.

I absolutely love Dr. Woodard, he is so brilliant,and challenges everyone of his students regardless of political affiliation, his passion for teacing is amazing, Take him, a C is like an A in his class but, his classes are rth the GPA hit!!

The best professor around. After 3 degrees at 3 different schools, I never encountered a better teacher. more than 25 years later, I still remember what he taught me. Tough class, but you'll actually learn the subject. Super nice guy who will help you all he can if you just ask.

TAKE WOODARD. Sure, you might work really hard for a B, but if you establish a relationship with him, he has connections in whatever career you want. Sincerely cares about the lives and goals of his students (not your GPA) and gives great advice.

BEST TEACHER YOU WILL EVER TAKE. Hands down. He truly cares about the lives of his students and wants you to succeed. Has connections in every job market and will help you toward your future goals. You haven't had the "Clemson" experience if you haven't taken Woodard.

Challenging but worth it

Dr. Woodard is by far the best teacher you or I will ever take. His experience as a political science professor and political consultant for some of the south's most well-known politicians, makes him the most influential and interesting professors. You learn more about how to obtain knowledge then how to inflate your GPA. He is a Clemson legend.

TAKE WOODARD. I am a straight-A student and perfectionist, so his class has actually demoralized me at points. However, it all doesn't seem so bad when you realize just how much you learn, and how well prepared you are for civil service after this class. He is tough, but show effort, and maybe he will show mercy! He is a true college professor.

Best professor I had at Clemson. His classes were also the hardest. He'll challenge you, but if you get an A - you know you EARNED that A! Other profs you take the classes to pass and move along. Woodard's classes - you take to learn and carry it with you.

Very knowledgeable and vey engaging. He makes the class by fun by telling jokes, giving current updates, engaging the class and good lectures. While his health may be waning, he still has a lot life left in him. If you are want a good grade, work hard, and work with him. NOT AN EASY A or even B!!! I learned so much from his class. Very, very hard class. Tests were borderline ridiculous with the level of detail expected memorized from the textbook. However, the Woodard is excellent as a professor - personable, funny, tells stories about working in politics. He helped me become interested in my political science major again. Great professor - just expect a C

I love Dr. Woodard!! He might be a tough C but he is worth taking if you have a chance here at Clemson. He is a very passionate, honest and hilarious professor. Don't skip class, you'll miss a lot more than you think. Read. Read. Read. Read. It sucks but I promise it's well worth it when it comes to the papers you'll have to write and the midterm and final. I considered switching into a different theory class after the first day of class but I am so glad I didn't.

Dr. Woodard is by far the best professor at Clemson University. His tests are the hardest thing you will ever attempt (studied for 24 hours and made a 75), but the way he runs the class motivates you to only do better on the next assignment. The best thing about Woodard is that he truly cares about his students and you actually learn!
