His lectures are easy to understand, but his tests are okay. You have to memorize a lot of vocabs and read the ch. Make sure you do the practice quizzes. It was worth taking that class, but it was a lot of studying for me.
He is a very nice guy and a GOOD teacher. He knows his stuff and makes sure to help his students as much as he can. The class may not be the easiest, but it is definitely worth it.
Had Wyatt for Lab portion of Intro to Bio. Great, funny, highly intelligent professor. His passion for biology and learning helped us students develop a passion for it as well. And I really hate science. The "big project" was a pain but I got an A. I highly rec. Wyatt for lab.
Dave is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He always smiles and radiates positive energy, causing his students to catch his love for Biology, whether they wanted it or not. I got an A!! He is funny too, with great stories to tell! Field trips were great also. I highly recommend Dave Wyatt!
I only took the class for GE, so I wasn't interested at the start. But I learned so much in the course both in and out of the realm of biology. An overall great guy who keeps class interested. Uses a fair grading method system.
He is the nicest teacher I've ever had in college. Tests are reasonable if you study the vocab and the stories he tells are worth going to class for. Have recommended him to friends-he makes biology a lot of fun for non-science people.
good teacher
If you like going on field trips with a really cool teacher this is the class for you! Dave is great! Ask him about the ringtails!
good teacher
Dave is a great teacher, class is fun, field trips were fun, test arn't too bad. He is a tough grader on the research paper, so get started on it early!
He knows a lot of people need this class for Gen. Ed. and managed to make it interesting
David is wonderful!
His class is very interesting and he teaches good. He's nice, friendly and very helpful.
Fabulous! So full of life &gets excited when teaching. Wish I had gotten to know him better & that I could still take classes from him - transferred out. Highly recommend him. Tests are easy so long as you pay attention in class. Never read. Got
Wow! Great Teacher. He may look like a booring science teacher when you first see him, but get ready to have a great semester!
He is a wonderful teacher. i love the way he gets excited about teaching and having fun even though sometimes i feel bored but it is not because of him it is because i am not that much into biology but dave makes it fun for me and i listen to his lecture and stead of sitting there acting like i understand and dont
Wyatt has become one of my all time favorite teachers. Goes over everything and prepares lessons very affectively. Very helpful. Makes biology a fun and very interesting subject. He shows his passion while he teaches the material and has had a lot of experience. Definitely my first choice if i had to take another class in the subject.
really awesome teacher, i took enviornmental biology...you learn a lot of cool things and its a really easy class if you read the book, go on the book website, and just listen! he basically hands you out the lecture nots...hes really cool though, awesome person!
Wyatt is cool! He's one of the best teachers I've ever had. He makes the material interesting and tells stories to go along with them. It's possible to get an A in his class! It's not that hard, he hands out study guides and notes, do those and you'll have a good shot at that A. Field trip was awesome! I highly recommend him!
the best teacher out there. personable & exciting. go over study tests on line and read occasionally and you can pass. he has experience and passion and he tries to adjust to every student. take this class even if you don't need it. i loved bill nye the science guy has nothing on david wyatt.
VERY HARD CLASS, IF YOUR NOT A SUPER SMART SCIENCE PERSON DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.EVERY LAB U HAVE A QUIZ, HE GIVES YOU 20 TERMS BUT THERE ARE ONLY 5-10 QUESTIONS, SO HE PUTS THE EXTRA TERMS ON THE QUIZ TO TRICK U.THEN AFTER THE QUIZ HE EXPLAINS THE LAB ONCE THEN LEAVES THE CLASSROOM. THERE R OTHER CLASSES U CAN TAKE THAT WILL FILLFIL YOUR GE REQU.

He is a great prof. Very funny and gets you interested in science. He is enthusiastic about biology and keeps you awake. Very helpful and clear in his lectures. Highly recommended!
best professor i've ever had. his enthusiasm is infectious. cares about material and students.
As usual, Dave is great. One of the best teachers at SCC. Great sense of humor and fun to be around. You won't regret taking this class and will most likely end up as a bio major.
Dave is a brilliant, enthusiastic teacher. His classes are somewhat difficult, but you can get an A if you try--just study well for the quizzes and tests (don't wait until the last minute). His lectures are well-organized and fun, and he keeps the class interested. Go on whatever field trip he goes on--he's even more fun outside of the classroom.
David Wyatt is an extremely effective teacher and I can honestly say this man changed my life and the course of my future, all he requires in his class is that you put in what YOU WANT TO GET OUT! Even if you aren't into science-it doesnt matter. The class is intersting and informative and if you have two brain cells to rub together, take this class
Fantastic teacher! He made me want to change my major from Soc to Bio. He's passionate, laid back, funny, and easy to talk to. Take advantage of his office hours to get to know him-- especially if he offers "five for five" (five extra credit points for five minutes of talking to him).
What an awesome class. While this class didn't turn me into a tree hugger (as that's not Prof. Wyatt's style) I definitely came away with a better sense of how vulnerable the earth really is. Daily quiz (or weekly for the 16 week classes?), hands out the notes, drops lowest three quizzes and the lowest exam. One research paper. Awesome!
He is simply great. You will not regret a minute if take him. Don't bother with the book, it's terrible anyway and he's not using it, although promises to...;)) Read all the handouts and lecture notes, he asks smallest details sometimes. Don't miss a class, his notes are priceless. Come, relax, meet extraordinary person, and learn something new.
This guy is awesome. My sister took from him and loved him and I'm taking from him and I love him. He's approachable and he's really open for you to visit him in his office. He's very helpful if you have a question on the material (which is tough stuff!). He's passionate about what he's doing and makes lecture, field trips great!
Mr. Wyatt is one of the most inspiring, helpful, giving, and compassionate professors I've had the pleasure of taking in my undergrad or graduate studies. Take him by all means -- he works hard to ensure that each student succeeds, and is simply one of the most generous and kind people I've had the pleasure to meet. He's not easy, but he's great.
Mr. Wyatt is one of the best teachers at SCC. He is truly passionate about what he does, and it really adds to the whole learning experience. He is SO nice, funny, and approachable, and he's always in a really good mood. The class is not easy nor hard. It's very FAIR. Honestly, I enjoy going to his class. Take him if you can.
Knowledgeable, informative, and helpful. Professor Wyatt is the greatest biology teacher I have had the opportunity to take. He tells great stories that keep you entertained and into the material. 4 quizes, 3 tests with the lowest one dropped, all in all a very easy A. Take him and learn valuable material while getting an A.
Great teacher! Explains what we need to know, where to find it, and is clear about what information we will be tested on. Not much in terms of homework, just read the chapters. Content was actually very interesting. Practices quizes online contributed to about a third of your grade.
Dave is great. He really wants his students to do well. He models integrity and commitment to his work. He is a wonderful professor and you will want to do well in his class, it won't be difficult because it is so interesting and fun!
Best Professor I've ever had. The guy really cares about his students.
Professor Wyatt is a great professor. He is always available to his students with any questions and really does care about his students. Used the book like a bible all semester. Take his hints seriously.
READ textbook, listen, attendance, and do good good on quiz! Very interesting teacher and I never fell asleep once in his classroom. Quiz are based off of the book. Exams are a mixer of notes and book; very easy. Thought I was going to get an F on a exam but got a B! ALL NOTES, he prints it out and hands it to you. I RECOMMEND! Great field trips to
Great professor, no tricks up his sleeve, very easy to approach, only tests on material covered, interesting lecture, gives hand outs for every chapter.
Best professor I have ever taken, seriously! Not only does he grade fairly, he actually cares about his students and wants them to do well in his class. Biology is a scary subject for some people, but if you come to class and take his hints you will do great. I had him for 350 as well and loved it.
GREAT TEACHER!!!
AWESOME TEACHER!! I LOVED HIS CLASS TAUGHT ME ALOT ABOUT THE ENVIROMENT AND HOW TO SAVE ENERGY. FOR THE FUN OF IT I WILL TAKE HIS CLASS AGAIN!!!!!! TAKE HIM!!!!!
OH MY GOD BEST SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE! He finds a way to make the material interesting so it's not forgettable. Easy quizzes and exams if you read the text and he TRULY cares for your education and he is very kind.
Dr. Wyatt is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is so kind and passionate about his field. Your bio 305 lab grade is based on in-class quizzes and 1 project. Ask if there's anything you don't get. He makes learning fun and I'd take him again in a heartbeat!
I don't know how he has time for anything. He's a workaholic. He really loves his job and inspired me further. I am really glad I took him. I took him for two classes spring 11, and I wish the class had never ended. I had to study hard because you never know what the word problems on the exams will be but I am glad I did.
Amazing professor. Best one I have had yet, by far. He may be hard, but he makes this subject so interesting (I had no interest before) that I get lost in his lectures. 10 Quizzes (drop 3) 5 Exams (drop 1 except Mini and Final). He is SO PASSIONATE about this subject, and can answer any question you throw at him. Wyatt is an example professor.
Dave is a fantastic prof! No textbook needed, midterm, project and final, all have study guides/ex. to make it doable. Fun field trips round out a great class experience. If only all of college was like this.
Best teacher ever. Changed my major after this class. Everything is really clear no unexpected material on exams/quizzes. He is approachable, funny, and really cares about your education. I want to be just like him when I grow up!
Really good professor. He's passionate about his subject and knows it well. He explains it very clearly and there is nothing unexpected on tests and quizzes. There is practice quizzes available and he reuses questions on quizzes and exams. Very easy class
Professor Wyatt is very friendly and approachable. Although reading the book is a must because questions on the quizzes, tests and exams are all based on the readings. Extra credit is provided on the test. Overall, the class was very interesting.
He is too awesome. Went into the class with zero knowledge about biology and came out loving it! I learned so much from this class. He is very helpful if you are falling behind! I came out with an A in the course and I am not an A student. I recommend this class for sure!
One of the best in the science department! I never dreaded going to this class. He's funny and tries his best to keep you interested. His tests and quizzes are straight out of the textbooks and online quizzes. As long as you study, you will do great. I used to hate biology, but Wyatt made it so fun! He also has a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Wyatt is a very good instructor. He really helps you understand the material while make it easy get a high grade on his exams. Pretty easy class if you just pay attention and review the material ever so often.
Great teacher. wonderful attitude, helpful, and funny. love his life stories which connects with lecture and lab. would recommend anyone taking his class take his lab also. best science instructor ive ever had. and field trips were awesome and fun
Extremely nice teacher; very helpful and inspiring. He's great. Take him!
Very easy class. 1 test is dropped. Half of final is the previous 3 tests (word for word). 1 required field trip. Knows a lot about the subject and is very cheerful. 10 quizzes, 3 are dropped and 1 easy project. Looks like a lot, but he makes it fun. Highly recommended.
Awesome professor! Even if bio is not your favorite subject this will be an easy class to take. Everything is black and white. Some extra credit, weekly quizzes. Drops 1 exam and 3 quiz scores at the end of semester.
Dave is a rare example of an teacher. Someone who is passionate about the topic that it changes peoples lives. If you struggle with school. Take his class... you will find the courage to succeed in life from him. He does not make it easy for your, but he makes is possible and that is something that is lacking at SCC.
Best professor i've ever had, PERIOD. He's so knowledgable & really wants to share everything he knows with you. i took an 8 week class, so basically a quiz on a chapter every class. but he's the type of prof that WANTS EVERYONE to pass, so he makes things very simple. All his stories relate to topic and are very interesting. I can't say enough!
Dave is the second professor at SCC to have a profound impact on my life. It is rare to find an instructor that not only LOVES the subjects he teaches, but loves them so much that he is genuinely thrilled to share his knowledge with you. Friendly, animated, outgoing, highly intelligent, engaging, humorous, communicative, helpful!
Best Bio Teacher! Wyatt actually makes the class fun. I hated Bio and i thought i would of never passed it any Bio course but he made that possible. I wanted to go to his class every week just to learn. He gives you all the materials you need. Read the book because it is Key. His guidelines are pretty much the test. Love this guy.
It's been a full year and he's still my favorite professor at SCC! If you get a chance, go on the yosemite trip! It's a lot of fun and he's a really funny guy to get to know. Keep up with the reading and you'll do fine. Make sure to come for the weekly quizzes also. Tests are easy and the material is interesting and applicable to everyday life.
This class is VERY VERY time consuming. If you take him for this class and lab, I'm going to let you know now, you will struggle. You cannot take him if you have a busy schedule. This class will take over your life and all of your time. You MUST make sure you study. Don't skim through anything. Be thorough. This guy is so over-rated.
A professor that has impacted my life. Took his 8wk course, and never did I think I was going to end up with the grade I did. I loved how passionate he was about his lectures. Every story he tells relates to what you're learning. He gets so excited about little biology things that he loves to share w/the class. Need more profs like him!
I agree with one of the previous raters who said he is so over-rated. He is really a nice guy and loves the subject. But however, he explain things like I know the material already. I am a non-science major so, I need time to adjust the info that was given out and its hard to follow when everything is taught so fast. Test are taken every week.
This professor is alright Taking Biology 305 with lab is like taking 2 different classes. So basically, you have to study for lecture and study for lab separately on different topics. I wish the lecture and lab were on the same page, so studying would be easier. It would be nice during lab that the prof. goes over the answer to the questions.
He gives you packets to study and asks questions that aren't even in the packets. His handwriting kind of poor and lacking legibility. Kingpin lord of sactown and he gets bridges built. !!STUDY FOR THE LAB QUIZZES!!
His knowledge level is god tier.
Dave is a great professor. If you take the time to talk to him you can tell he really wants to help guide students to what they want to do with their life. He's very insightful and an easy going person. I definitely want to take his field courses because he provides essential knowledge for biologists. Great guy and teacher.
David Wyatt was a great Professor. His class isn't the easiest but by far not the hardest. Has very engaging lectures with exciting stories to match. He is able to build an interest in the subject. Class had one field trip, with 3 Exams and a final. He gives you all the material for the exams and tells you what to study before the exams. Loved this
For this class, you really have to work for your grade. There is no way you will pass if you don't study. You HAVE to study to pass this class. His tests are okay because the stuff he teaches is actually on the test but there is a ton to study. Do the project and DONT procrastinate and BS it. Trust me, put in work for this class and you will pass
Dave does a great job teaching Natural History. He makes it interesting, tells funny stories, and wants students to be engaged. He's very easy to talk to and does well explaining concepts in a way you'll understand. Lots of extra cerdit opportunities. If you show up every class and pay attention, it's difficult to not do well. Lab is mandatory.
Weekly quizzes that are based on reading. Three midterms plus a final. Attendance is mandatory as is a field trip. Very fun and interesting class. Dave promotes discussion on the topics that will be discussed in class. He's also very open to questions and really easy to talk to. Lots of opportunities for extra credit.
Great professor his lecture are funny and interesting. He gives you everything you need to pass the class from lecture notes to reading the chapters its comes down to the student. If you have a hard time with science i would recommend using the online course from the book when you buy it. it will help alot through his course.
Is an amazing teacher. His regular students (we of the Church of Dave) have had their lives changed by him, including myself. Good person, great lectures, good teacher. Is a must if you plan on Natural Sciences.
Dave Wyatt is great! The full time Sac City students worship him with cultlike adoration, which is a little weird, but a testament to how beloved he is. I took his Mojave Field Ecology course and thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned quite a few restraining techniques for wildlife that have been useful to me since.
He was a very interesting prof. he always had a funny story to tell; it made the class go by faster. His tests where based of the material he gave you not always off the lectures. In his lab it was super important to do the lab assignment, the quizzes are based off of them.
LOVE DAVE! My sister took him, so I took him. Loved the class, passed with an A. Tests can be tricky, you really need to study. He's great for the lab portion, too. He really wants you to succeed, and he clearly loves teaching. Inspiring. Funny. Approachable and helpful. The best science class I ever took. Serious work, don't slack, but it's fun.
Professor Dave is ok on teaching, his test is hard but you can get some extra credit on your test. By the end of the semester he needs his students to turn in a insect project. To me i'm not taking him.
Amazing Lectures!! So funny and truly cares and LOVES what he is teaching. This teacher is 1 of 100 in college. He cares about his students and loves every aspect of teaching and the material he is teaching. Questions from quizzes and tests come straight from lecture and lecture outline sheets. Lab is fun and organized.
Dave is absolutely amazing. One of the greatest professors on campus. I took BIO 350 with him and I am currently taking BIO 305 with him. I just wish I could have studied more this semester. The only way you will succeed in his class is if you study. He is very passionate. I will definitely miss him!
Amazing professor. His lectures and labs are detailed and he posts them online as well if you want to review materials covered in class or if you happen to miss class. There are quizzes every week in lab, which he explains what will be covered on the quiz. My advice is pay attention and read the materials that are given.
Highly recommend him! He really cares for his students and you could tell he's passionate about the subject. Study the textbook like crazy, all the quiz and exam questions/answers are from there. He gives quizzes almost every week and 4 exams (counting the final).
I found his lectures very interesting. He can be pretty funny and loves to talk about his "adventures in the wild". However, it is not an easy class. Be prepared to read and study. Overall I enjoyed his class and I would recommend it to anyone willing to work for it.
Best class taken so far! I never dreaded coming to his class. His stories are really funny and entertaining and make time fly by so fast. Although his class requires a lot of effort, lab included, he makes it easy for you by "hinting" what will be expected on the quizzes and exams. Pay attention to his hints and you'll pass. I definitely recommend!
His lectures are an absolute delight and I honestly learned a lot. Quizzes are easy if you study the reading, and he gives you lecture notes that help a lot with exams.
One field trip is mandatory and it's not that bad. Was actually pretty informative. The textbook is used in all chapters and that's where the tests come from. Exams cover the lectures and textbook material. He's a must have if you're a biology major. Even otherwise he is a great professor.
Prof. Wyatt's BIO350 class Is a real joy. EC opportunities on every quiz/exam, clear grading criteria, and awesome field trips. Read the book and review the handouts for an A. He's approachable and friendly, too. Oh, and he likes to tell stories. Take him for your IGETC bio requirement. And If you're just interested in the course, take it!
His lectures are fascinating and meandered in the good way. He supplies packets, which are thoughtful and extremely helpful, but I strongly suggest taking your own notes or record the lectures. For the field trip and final project, come prepared, and invest in a camera as its pointless to kill bugs for trophies.
Dave might just make you change your major to biology. Great professor!
Professor Wyatt is an AMAZING Professor I took him for bio natural history and he is funny, gives great hilarious biology examples that are relevant to the lecture and good life stories as well. His quizzes and exams are lecture note heavy and are on the PowerPoint notes. We rarely read our textbook and he is very nice and respectful.
Professor Wyatt is an all time great professor. This man is so incredibly passionate, knowledgeable, and helps you realize the beauties this world has to offer. His lectures are so interesting and hilarious. I was able to get an A by paying attention and studying here and there. He gives a lot of hints about what is going be on exams.
Very easy class, but you HAVE to do the reading. 10 quizzes - all book-based, 3 exams and a final. One third of the questions on the final come from the previous three exams. If you do badly, you really didn't try at all.
Professor Wyatts has been one of my favorite professors in Sacramento City. His class was amazing and I genuinely learned something from his lecture. Tests can be difficult if you dont study or look at the slides he provides you. He will give you the answer to certain test answers in class BUT PAY ATTENTION!
Professor Wyatt is amazing and he's very knowledgeable. His lectures are inspiring and you get to know interesting facts every single lecture. He always have some funny stories to share. There are some field trip offer to couple amazing locations. Classic quizzes and exams, read the textbook, attend class, and study will get you through this class.
Although I had a great experience in a previous course (Bio 305) with this professor, Bio 362 was an exercise in frustration due to disorganized field trips, unclear expectations on the final project, and a lack of focus during class meetings. Classes do not start or end on time and the learning objectives / agenda for each class is unclear.
He does not even post grades online so you don't know how you do and his projects are extremely heavy and not specific so you have to take your time thinking abut what to write rather than actually following specifics of a project.
An absolutely amazing teacher. I learned so much and he is so inspiring. You can tell he loves what he does. He is hands down the best teacher at sac city. If you need to take any bio or environmental science class he is the best one for you. There is a research paper due at the end of the semester about a given area (dessert, estuary, etc)
Hands down my favorite professor at SCC. Dave has been my professor in a couple different bio classes (305,350,360,364) and I loved every class. Initially I was pursuing a different major, but changed it after taking his 350 class. He's awesome and he really knows his stuff. Take notes. Notes align with exams. No surprises, he's pretty fair.
Dave is a MUST if you're taking a BIO class. His assignments and lectures are so engaging. His assignments are lots of fun, super creative, and if you like hands on work, Dave is where it's at. I personally hate science, and I'm not good at it, but I had a blast in Dave's class.
If you want to take a class where the tests have multiple correct answers, this professor is for you. Tests were hard and not always in line with the material. Did not grade any of the work besides tests until finals week so it was hard to guess how you were actually doing in the class
goodluck if you have a family emergency. He is the only professor i know that does not offer retake of missed exams. I had 3 back to back deaths in my family in one week and totally missed one exam, he did not let me take it. Not empathetic at all. but other then that easy to get a A. Just not caring
Professor Wyatt was great. Everything was posted Monday morning at 6am and the homework was due every Sunday night at 11.59pm. His lectures consist of power points in which you must download in order to hear his narrations. He provides worksheets that help you study that you may fill in for notes. Definitely take him! This class is great for anyone
I actually met Wyatt prior to covid, but did not take his class until much later due to conflicts. Yet even in a purely digital setting, he was a joy to learn from. While his tests were a bit tough due to the slightly confusing format of the class (we learned from presentations and various sources), I would take him again in a heartbeat. Great Guy!
Professor Wyatt was a truly wonderful instructor. He is passionate about the subject which is infectious. I appreciated his style and the structure of the course. He was very clear about his expectations and set up all up for success. He connects the concepts of the course to our own lives, which ends up being deeply impactful and memorable.
No communication for the entire length of the course. I wasn't able to complete a homework assignment on time due to an emergency and when reaching out to explain my situation I never got a response, even while other canvas assignments were being graded. Quiz times are unclear and there are no reminders until late in the day that they are due on.
Too much work, not a great communicator for online students, not engaging.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Lectures are personable and casual, makes it easy to remember content and enjoy class. Very structured course based mostly on quizzes and gives feedback if asked. He's easy to reach and incredibly understanding and supportive of personal matters.
No communication for the entire length of the course. I wasn't able to complete a homework assignment on time due to an emergency and when reaching out to explain my situation I never got a response, even while other canvas assignments were being graded. Quiz times are unclear and there are no reminders until late in the day that they are due on.
this professor's quizzes are online some from Quizlet. his exams are from reading and previous quizzes you take before the tests. he does drop the lowest quiz and gives you opportunities to raise your grade. THERE IS A SEMESTER PROJECT AND FIELD TRIP TO ATTEND to get full credit. the project is 2 parts and the trip is paid.
Do NOT rent the text book for the lecture unless you find you actually need it. It was a waste of money. Halfway through the semester the readings (that he provides for free) become so much more intensive. The readings are scans and my TTS didn't like it at all. Good class, just messed up my groove for the semester.
Hard to follow lectures
Professor Wyatt's BIO350 class is engaging and well-structured. The lectures are informative, and the quizzes and exams are reasonable if you stay on top of the readings. unstuck AI was a game-changer for exam prep. Overall, an enjoyable course worth taking.
Don't take him if you know you won't do well under big pressure and stress. He give us lots of stress bc no grading throughout the sem untill the last few days (weeks) no replying to emails, not helpful at all. LOTS of work are required!! He doesn't accept late work or family emergencies but he doesn't grade on time and go travel all the time, so:)
Dr. Wyatt is absolutely amazing for this course on Environmental Regulations. You learn quite a lot. I like how he provided embedded narration PowerPoint lectures. Grade is based on weekly homeworks and the exams. His exams can be quite tedious in a way because they are just free response questions, but he provides quite a lot of extra credit.
Great Professor.Course is straight forward, attending lectures and READING the textbook will go a long way. Consistent workload, with a short multiple choice quiz each week and 3 exams throughout the semester (70% multiple choice, 30% short answer).A lot of the final is copied from previous exams. Tons of extra credit opportunities if needed.
- Lots of reading - Complete semester project or you don't pass - He offers much extra credit make sure you take it - quizzes are timed and first half multiple choose second half if you writing a response to question - lectures are boring but what he talks about is on quizzes - attend zoom lectures for extra credit
