Great man, very funny-even at 9pm.

Always fair and willing to help his students

awesome teacher, by far one of my favorite teachers ever
He is a hard teach but at the end he was good to me.
Hard, but if you follow his instructions, you'll do fine. He responds to emails quickly and is available during his office hours. His lectures are a little scattered, but he gets his point across. He is fair. He seems to enjoy using profane language.
Very boring but VERY easy and he does have favorites.
Good looking but not much between the ears. No work, listen to his stories about his vacations & u get your A.
Good teacher, a little hard but learned a lot from him. He is very funny with all of his stories and stuff.
Good teacher, whips his idiot students into shape. Very clear, obviously knows his stuff (esp. Logic). Bit tougher on papers than other hum profs, but still easy as are all ECC classes. Very accessible professor and apparently a Renaissance Man.
Very boring listening to stories about his vacations. Easy grade but not much is learned in his class.
One of my favorite professors ever, totally changed the way I think about the world.
Loved him. Plus he's a cutie!
Anyone who is not learning from Zacker is not listening hard enough. The man is logical through and through, and able to organize the world into logical schemes of thinking. Take full advantage of this Prof--ask questions, and pay attention.

"Cabana Boy" think a lots of himself, but most I know do not.
Very awesome teacher, very difficult teaches you how to write a very sound paper. Learned alot from this class
Terrible teacher. He is hard at grading and i swear he says the same things over and over. If you need to take this class, don't take him.
Into himself and not much up there.
Worst teacher at ECC. Just likes to brag about his family and their adventures around the world. Why did I have to pay to hear this instead of learning about the subject?
I suppose some might think he is OK. But for me, this guy should be a personal trainer, a tour guide, a bartender. Anything rather than a teacher. He simply stinks at getting ideas across.
Very intelligent man. He knows what he teaches, and if you pay attention, you will do just fine.
Wow I'm surprised people didn't give Dr. Zacker better ratings. He is very knowledgable of his subject, relates the material with interesting examples, and does an excellent job of answering questions. I had him for ethics and logic. Both classes were favorites of mine. I actually looked forward to going to his classes.
I took a few classes with Dr. Zaker, all pretty good. His tests are not easy or very hard, somewhere in between. His lectures are very easy to follow and he is very helpful. If you go to class everyday and take notes, getting a high grade shouldn't be that hard.
good teacher, I learned a lot and he is very helpful. Do the work and you will be fine
This teacher is really good. Hes smart and he definitely knows his stuff. There are only 4 tests and 3 papers, but you have to work very hard in his classes. He can be boring sometimes, but he's kinda hot so I didn't mind. If u really want to know about the subject...take him.
If you're looking for an easy class, do not take him. His tests and papers are pretty hard. My advice is to send him your papers, he gives really good feedback that will def raise your grade. He can sometimes be boring, but he's kinda hot so that makes up for it. He's a good and really smart teacher.
Great teacher. Very easy on the eyes.
Excellent Teacher. Test cover the material in class. Tests require essays but he goes over them very well. His tests are a bit challenging. If you attend class every day, you will have no problem. Highly recommend.
Be prepared to work in this class. He has high expectations for his papers and tests. I enjoyed this class, but you have to do the work. His class is very organized, and he was very clear on his guidelines and expectations.
His class is boring and he always teaching about the trips he took. His tests are hard and the papers are hard as well. I would not recommend this prof....
He is an amazing teacher. Very easy if you just study the material, it's logical. Doing the homework keeps your grade up with very little effort.
He's a really fun guy. Easy to listen to and real helpful. He's pretty cute, too. I recommend him so hard.
logic class online. if you are interested in debating someones logical structure of arguments in everyday rhetoric, or the rhetoric of famous persons this class is surely not for you. it is one big word-math problem lots of obscure terms to remember and sentences are structured like a math problem. simple stuff that keeps getting more silly.
This is not an easy class but it is interesting and DR. Zacker makes the class fun.
Pretty good teacher. His online logic class is easy. As long as you do some of the homeword and know some of the material, you will have enough time to take the tests and quizzes. You can also use your book for backup, which makes it easier.
He was alright. Just made me mad when he talked. All he does is review what the book says. Ehhh. Not a fan.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Takes more time to email you about possibly going on strike because they don't have a settled contract than helping with questions. Makes no effort to help people strive. I barely passed, and I get straight A's. Take him if you want to lower your GPA and receive no help if you get in any sort of slump.
Bad Teacher...He makes you read the book and take the homework, And then he'll teach you the material. same as if this was an online class. That way, he doesn't have to teach the class since "everyone should already know the material since they read the chapter last night"
Awesome teacher. Really a fun guy who loves what he does and presents philosophy in a learnable way. Tests aren't that hard if you use the study guide and pay attention in class. The papers are what's difficult but that's because they're about philosophy. And btw ladies, he's taken :/
Good Professor. Can be hard on his attendance policy but makes said policy clear at the beginning of the course. Fun subject but just pay attention and out in the effort and you should pass.
Fun, energetic, kind and respects the students and heavily encourages sharing of opinions and participating.
Dave is a very knowledgeable and fun professor. He loves what he teaches and it shows. He's very personable and willing to help out in any way he can. As long as you come to the lectures, you'll do great in the class. Highly recommended!
I would not recommend Zacker. He seems to expect a lot from his students yet the first two essays I tried so hard and got low B's on them -- the last essay I did I completed in about 3 hours and knew it was terrible yet I got a 95%. Dumb your papers down a lot to get a good grade. His quizzes are unnecessarily verbose and confusing.
He is very inconsistent with his grading. Started out with a D on the first paper and ended up with an A on the last one (for essentially the same paper). Ask for help and he will give you a better grade. His quizes do not make sense and it seems like he purposely trys to confuse you with his questions.
He is one of the funniest and most upbeat professors in all of ECC. Unfortunately, he is also somewhat vague in his lectures. To get a fuller grasp of the material, it really helps to talk to him one on one. Still, his knowledge doesn't always translate well for students.
LOGIC(online).Ugh! one of the hardest I have taken at ECC. There were 4 exams and a cumulative final exam.HW is done online & it's EASY compare to the exams. You must do the exercises of each session if you want to pass. I didn't pass the 1st exam but I got really good grades on the other ones. KEY: Go see him if you have questions & read your book!
I took An honors course with David and I can honestly say it was a great experience. You won't get tons of physical work (except for a ten page paper at the end). However, his class is open to argumentation and discussion, so you do have to know the material.
Professor Zacker is a totally awesome teacher, philosopher, and person. His lectures are so interesting and everything he has to say is critically thought out, and really gives you a chance to look at the world much differently, and relate to what others may interpret things as. His tests are fairly hard, you really need to memorize theories.
Fantastic teacher. He makes class interesting and keeps you interested. Class discussions were fun and always helped in understanding the material. He knows what he's doing.
Dave is a good guy. He loves what he teaches and is as helpful as someone can be. However, his Philosophy class is just plain hard. It requires immense studying and showing up to class. Tests are in three parts, if you pass the first then you automatically pass the test with a 70% the book is useful but you dont NEED it but might want it.
he was a good teacher, communicated the concepts well, told a couple good jokes, and was genuinely into the topics. the only thing was that he was lousy at letting you know what your grade is. unless you directly ask multiple times, you won't know whether you have a "c" or a "B".
Dr. Zacker is an okay teacher. You absolutely need the textbook! I believe he had too many responsibilities this semester and our class got neglected. We weren't clear on what we should be studying, and our tests did not reflect what we covered in class. Work was not graded in a reasonable amount of time. Disappointed in how we were treated.
Read the book, print out the power point prior to class to take notes on and you will do fine. His timed quizzes are unnecessarily confusing, but take all the time provided to work on it.
I'm a Nursing student who took this class as an extra Humanities for my Bachelors. I was a fish out of water and didn't understand this class. But Dave is a great teacher, funny and know's his logic!
Took this class online, the book can be very confusing and the CD that goes with the book is a definite NECESSITY. I would NOT have passed this class without it. Lots of assignments and most of the time you have to use all five attempts to get the score you really want. Hardest class i have ever taken. Zacker is good about getting back to you quick
Fantastic professor who's knowledgable in every area he teaches in. Your grade will reflect the amount of effort you put in; This is not a "show up and pass" class! Zacker makes the experience as easy as he can, and he's very clear when answering questions and setting expectations. I really enjoyed this course and having him as a professor.
He is a great teacher, everything was fun and easy accept for his papers. He doesn't let you put you're name on the paper so he gets very critical. he's very smart and knows a lot abut the subject. Exams are fun, and the structure makes sure that if you listen or study a little you will at least pass.
Zacker is smart and highly knowledgeable if you are seeking a high-caliber instructor. However, at the same time he expects a lot from his students. You have a lot of reading and A LOT of homework with time constraints to do. I was in his Logic class and loved his class and his teaching but was unable to cope up with his online assignments.
Zacker was amazing, funny and laid back. Logic is a tough class and if you don't keep up with the online assignments then you will have an awful and difficult time. Make sure to read the book also. Offers extra credit and he's very clear about what he expects. Only take Logic if it's a requirement for you, otherwise it's not worth the frustrations.
Probably one of the hardest classes I have taken, but also extremely useful. Dave is one of the best instructors I have had, he is always positive, treats students with respect, is very smart and makes the lectures fun. Make sure you read the book, your grade will depend on it.
Hes a pretty good teacher! I learned a lot in his class and I enjoyed going. As a person, I didn't like him that much, but he was a good professor. HAVE to go to class. Class time is super helpful. I wish I tried harder! if you try, a little bit, you should be able to get an A!!
Honestly, Zacker is a phenomenal professor. He knows what he is talking about and is very clear about what he expects from you. You need to go to all of the classes. He gives extra credit opportunities, take advantage of that. Stay on top of the homework and definitely go in ready to work.
Took this elective and found it really interesting. Zacker is super cool and knows what he is talking about. As long as you have time for the homework you can do well. Lectures are really helpful so make sure you show up. Would definitely take a class with him again!
so hes funny, a good teacher, and gets back to you fast and is super helpful, but tests and papers are hard a.f!!! He wants to make sure you know the material. its a good thing but make sure you have time to study or you wont pass!!
Zacker's class is a lot of fun. There are 3 papers that are worth the majority of your grade. No tests, just online quizzes.
Zacker truly enjoys teaching Logic and is available for extra tutoring during his office hours. He's designed the class slightly differently in that the online homework assignments are due BEFORE lecture on the section, he swears it improves grades overall, it worked well for me. Zacker is a professor who went into teaching for the students.
Although Zacker is somewhat a tough teacher, everything he assigns has a purpose. If you are prepared to work a little bit, you will come out of this class an entirely different person. He genuinely cares for every student and is a great human being overall. His lectures are always interesting and the work load is very manageable.
Logic was a tough class but Zacker is just a naturally good teacher. Super organized, great professor, answers emails. You do group activities that determines ur daily participation grade so that was a little annoying but other than that hes a great teacher if youre willing to do the work for the class
The topics can be tough but if you pay attention and attend regularly, you'll get a good grade. Really funny guy, which makes the class interesting. Very straight forward.
Dave is truly one of the most unique Professors I have ever had. He is an incredible combination of hilarious, knowledgeable, and devoted to academia. He is an incredible teacher, but hes not going to sugar coat the material with extra credit. You get what you get. There are no effort As in his class, nail your tests and your good.
RN taking online class for BSN pre-req. Homework takes 10+ hours every week. Quizzes are lock down browser, and tests require webcam. Class doesn't teach any application outside of the field of logic. If you're looking to casually go through your pre-req, pay the extra money somewhere else for an easier class. Teacher is alright.
His subjects can be difficult but he is a great teacher. His lectures always helped me understand the subject better and he is great at explaining and answering any questions you have. He only had a handful of tests and no quizzes so it can be a bit of a challenge to keep a good grade if you slack off, but he gives a lot of extra credit.
Zacker is an awesome teacher! The subject matter is often difficult but his lectures really help you understand it! Show up to class, pay attention, and do the homework and youre golden! Hes also funny and makes class fun!
Humanities / Logic - this was the hardest class I have ever taken! Not because of the professor, but because the material was hard for me to self-teach. I do not recommend the online class--go on campus and have your questions answered. I also recommend doing all the extra credit that is available! Professor Zacker was personable and intelligent!
He's extremely knowledgeable about the subject and he show'd enthusiasm for spreading that knowledge to his students. Classes were heavily discussion based. He told some good stories. I expected the class to be a boring gen ed box check, but to his credit, I became surprisingly interested in the subject matter.
Professor Zacker was a really good professor to me. He was very smart, nice guy, swore a lot to make the class funnier, and didnt make class too difficult. Unfortunately for me, I didnt do too well in his class mainly because I slacked off towards the beginning, but if you actually put effort in his class youll do really well
Took this class online and the subject matter was extremely hard to comprehend. His layout of the course was simple. HW that took me basically a whole day to complete due every week and quizzes every week also. Gives 5 attempts for the quizzes. Test weren't too long. Didn't have any communication with him so don't know how helpful he is.
A good professor. But test requirements weren't ever quite clear. You had to do extra studying to do well on these tests. I have a feeling I'd do a lot better if I had done this.
Zacker is one of the coolest guys at ECC and this class was really interesting. It's not difficult material, but a lot of people struggled because they didn't keep up with homework. And a word of advice: buy the access code from ECC because you need that to do all of your homework so skip Chegg for this class.
Although Logic is a challenging course, Zacker really cares about taking the time to make sure students understand the content.
I'm sure he's a nice guy, he gives extra credit. But do NOT take his online class. I study for hours and still can't do it well. Homework he assigns takes hours. You have to do lockdown browser WITH A CAMERA for all tests. I'm surprised there wasn't much said about it.
Looked annoyed when I went in for office questions, stayed in for a lecture and he kept using an example including a 'dog taking a sh*t'. The homework takes my entire day up, exams need lockdown browser and camera which is so uncomfortable. Hardly no extra credit, especially if you work full time, it's hard to sit in for a 'Socrates Cafe'. Avoid!!!
Do not take the online class! A supposed three-hour course was taking me several hours every day. I took an online class to have a flexible schedule but it turned out to be worse than an actual class.
The teacher is amazing. Hands down an amazing professor and person. I personally had a hard time with the class because it is alot of translations similar to a foreign language. IF YOUR WEAKNESS IS FOREIGN LANGUAGE TAKE ANOTHER CLASS. If you can handle foreign languages youll do just fine. the class is overall interesting and engaging.
He was a great professor and person. Dave was willing to meet with me outside of class and truly showed that he cared about how I did. By far best ECC professor there is
This is one of the only classes where I felt like everything the professor said was something important. I never felt bored and if I misunderstood something, he will gladly help you with it and make sure you understand it before moving on. The only negative is that the extra credit is at certain times. If you work or have another class, you're SOL.
I am taking Logic and the class itself is very difficult for me and there is only one tutor on the campus and she was equally confused as I am. Zacker is a great professor, very interactive and fun class. Homework is intense and can take a lot of time to complete. If you take this class only ensure that you are not enrolled in many other classes.
I am honestly surprised that Zacker's RMP rating is so low. His class has a lot of homework, but it is all necessary to understand the information., which he also goes over thoroughly in class. If you take notes and ask plenty of questions, it isn't that hard, and Zacker is always more than willing to help. He also gives plenty of EC opportunities.
One of those unique teachers who is so knowledgeable and amazing to have. I had no idea there was so much to logic, the class was a really fun experience and professor Zacker would try his hardest to get everyone to understand the concepts. Also the discussion group he runs just expands on ideas used in the class, highly recommend!
Taking this class online is beyond difficult. Please just wait it out until its available in person. Also, prof doesnt really care about you struggling in the class, and stated theres always another semester to retry.
This guy think this is graduate class. homework can take hours to complete and it's due Monday and Wednesday. Each section of homework can be up to 40 questions. Unfortunately ECC only has this professor teaching logic. I see why people hate college. He suck the motivation and excitement out of you.
To start honestly one of the worst professors I've ever had. He is one of the world's toughest graders ever. If you ask for help he will give a very sarcastic response. Very rude for absolutely no reason. I ask him for an example of how he wanted a paper to look like and he gave the most sarcastic response ever. Not worth taking for the credit.
Very difficult, very hard to understand the context.
He seems like a good professor but when it comes to his online class the experience was horrendous. His papers are very specific and if you don't meet one criterion it's very difficult to get the grade you want. Such a tough grader and if you ask for help he seems like he doesn't care. The only good part is his flip grid discussions.
He was a good guy, I emailed him multiple times outside of class and he would respond within a few hours most times. Hes aware that what hes teaching can be confusing at times and does everything to help students understand it, but you have to ask for the help. Passionate teacher, good energy in class, definitely worth taking the class.
While i cant blame Professor Zacker for the subject matter, i did find it hard to understand and really had a hard time understanding the subject matter. I am a 1+12 person and if you are the same do not take this ethics class. Zacker helped me out and met me outside of class to help but I just got too overwhelmed for the class and dropped it.
One of the best in-person professors I have had. I feel he does a great job laying out the material and allows for engaging participation by student's and is always open to help whether it be the material, grades, or feedback on papers. Ethics is a hard class but he manages to make it easy to understand by using the textbook and outside sources.
A really good professor, just make sure to participate and do work on time and you'll be fine. Attendance wasn't really mandatory but it was in the grade book. I felt like it was heavy on papers since we would do like 2 a month and papers are big in the grade book.
Hands down. Best professor I ever had at ECC. He's direct, efficient, and passionate for what he does. His lectures are structured based off of logical application of his experiences in life that everyone could connect to in some way. Attending his class is overall very fun and interesting.
Dr Zacker creates great lectures and class activities to understand the material. I would say he grades papers tough but it will only make you a better written/thinker. I would highly recommend taking him for any humanities course as he makes learning the material enjoyable.
Dr. Zacker is a very intelligent professor. I am amazed at the kinds of stuff he knows sometimes, but he is a professor. Very interesting classes, wonderful teaching styles. I wrote papers upon papers because he is a tough grader, but in a way that helped me understand aspects of myself and the decisions I make. No one can regret taking his class.
It's really like this professor doesn't want you to succeed! Papers every other week and a very tough and particular grader. I wrote an A+ paper and got MULTIPLE points knocked off because I forgot to italicize one thing. Also, the class was focused more on art and artifacts than humanities in general. I wish I checked Rate my Professor prior.
Is not clear on directions until it comes to grading. Emails are rude, short, and un-clear. He gives you no room for error when grading assignments even if you get a passing grade you don't pass unless you cover every single requirement basically a 100% is what you need on each assignment to pass.
He's a okey person, but as a teacher his not that great. The formatting of his online class page is overly complicated, with important information not being bold or even easy to find. He also takes off so much credit on assignment when you only miss one thing. I recommend finding another teacher if you plan on taking the online course with him.
Terrible professor for an online course. Ridiculous weekly requirements make this feel like a 30-credit hour class instead of a 3. Assignments are tough and you lose points for the smallest things. Do yourself a favor and don't register for this course, unless you plan to drop it. Too much busy work and work for a gen-ed.
I liked Professor Zacker, but this course was very difficult. There's a lot of reading, lots of homework and lots of papers. For the papers be sure to follow the criteria to a tee, otherwise you won't receive a good grade. He does give good feedback however and the flipgrids are really great for this online course.
This professor is very specific in what he wants. Read all of the requirements/directions and make sure you follow them. Be warned, a lot, a lot, a lot of essays. Never did so many papers in my life. (2 pg every 2 weeks, 7pg mid/final) Easy but busy busy busy work.
Nothing against the teacher here. But if you are taking this class online, oh man you are in for it. The online homework assignments throughout the course get more and more convoluted as you go on so prepare to have your mind absolutely numbed for 2-4 hours at a time every Tues. to Thurs. Some of the sections have you answer 90 prompts at a time
Such a tough grader, I feel like I was getting points taken off for every comma or missed italicized word. I always reached out and every time I fixed the issue, there was always something different he would nag at.
Great teacher! He's really funny and sounds like the "this is Audible" guy. The class is wildly easy if you keep up with the work :)
Dr. Dave was super chill. He made lots of jokes and his class was generally fun. However, you pretty much teach yourself the criteria and then go over whatever doesn't make sense in class. Its not a super hard class as long as you stay on top of your work.
I'm terrible at writing essays but i still got an A in the class so its not difficult to pass. He says attendance is mandatory but alot of the times i found myself saying i definitely couldve skipped this class. Easy assignments though. He offered extra credit if you attend socrates cafe but i didnt have the time
Extremely tough grader with no option to re-submit, so if you mess up slightly it will tank your grade.
I had Prof. Zacker for Honors Ethics. His lectures are so fun! I recommend participating, he will be more accessible and willing to help if you show interest. Weekly online assignments and essays that build up to a a group presentation in the Jobe Lounge, but he makes everything pretty smooth.
Must read textbook and do homework. No discussions. Tests are open book. Extra credit offered. I took this class thinking I would learn about critical thinking and logic in terms of my thought process but this was so technical, lots of rules about the subject of logic that I had to memorize.
Zacker was very funny, but what wasn't funny was the attendance he took the first 5 minutes of class. Felt like I was in high school again. If I missed the attendance, I wouldn't get credit even if I was there for the rest of the hour, so I always contemplated if I should even go at that point. Other than that he was a chill professor.
I had a great semester with Dr. Zacker, he is very funny and personable. He creates a very fun and easy-going class environment.
Decent professor overall. He assigns three papers and weekly ethical theory sheet/readings/QUIZZES (OCCASIONALLY). He has engaging lectures, and in-class assignments make this class low-maintenance. We barely touched the Dalai Lama book. Meditations are graded. He's accessible outside class via email. He also has PowerPoints for ethical theories.
Not even a ton of work, but the Artifact Appreciations get very annoying, grades tough on them and is tedious to cite every single line when I haven't had that problem in other ECC classes that involve research essays. Rubrics sometimes don't make sense especially on the final. Inconsistent grading on citations. Overall just tedious and annoying
Feel like I'm the only person who doesnt like him, but he's just too needy.
The topic took me longer to grasp, but overall, I enjoyed this class, and the professor was always kind. He takes the time to really make sure students understand what he's teaching. I recommend taking advantage of his office hours and definitely doing the extra credit he offers, since it really helps.
