Excellent teacher. He definitely enjoys his job and if you would like to take a Literature class, and do not really enjoy the subject, take him.
This Professor truly cares about his students. He can help make a good paper, great. His online instructions were crystal clear and he was available for any questions, problems or concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to take another class w/him. He gives additional sites for help and if he offers to proof-read your work - take advantage of it!
He is a wonderful person with a kind heart. He is very intelligent and has a great sense of humor. Coming to class was such a treat. He explains the material very well. Everything that is on the exams are discussed in class. For all English and Literature needs - he is the professor to see.
Took him for LIT2120 and then ENL2022. This professor literally changed my life. I have such a great understanding and appreciation for classic literature now and feel like a more well rounded person as a result. If you like reading, writing and philosophy, you can't go wrong. He is quite funny and eccentric.
Bets english teacher ever! If you want to learn and actually get better at writing he's your guy! He is very helpful and a great person overall. ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS EVER!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
So much reading. Quizzes (which are 20% of your grade) pretty much every class except for poetry. Exams are 80% of the grade. Consists of 20 multiple choice and 20 short answers. and a paper no less than 500 words usually comparison/contrast which is 20% of that 80%. pretty arduous. You have to study. He's really nice and is funny.
Three exams (the last exam is not cumulative and has a paper to go with it) and daily quizzes. He goes over every story and poem in depth. The longest story is Huck Finn. It's about 200 pages. Maybe less. Take notes if you're not an auditory listener. You must study. He has a good sense of humor and is so nice.
EXAM-2O MULTIPLE CHOICE, 20 SHORT RESPONSE AND A PAPER. QUIZZES ARE FOR PRETTY MUCH EVERY STORY AND ARE AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH CLASS. HE GOES OVER WHATEVER STORY YOU READ AFTER THE QUIZ. LOTS OF READING FOR THIS CLASS. VERY NICE TEACHER. SO NOT MEAN AT ALL. VERY KIND.
He is a good teacher =)if you go to him he will explain evrything very CLEARLY..=)he gives you tipes... he is really nice..=)
Great professor, one of the best. Really out there to help. All you have to do is read the stories he assigns, which really isnt much, and you will pass with ease.
If you are easily offended you might not want to take this class. We read Huck Finn which uses the N word so many times I lost count. A Countee Cullen's poem uses the N word. There's alot of stories that may bash or seem to bash christianity and religion in general. He's white but says the N word only in context to the subject matter.
nice guy, originally from NY, his quizzes are EASY but his exams are HARD, very dry sense of humor, could use some new clothes, intelligent, helpful, made the class more interesting than it should have been...he's not one of those teachers who you'll think "this guy rocks" but it'll be a good experience...
I took this class online and I got my first F in my whole life. I do not recommend this class because when you try to contact the teacher his replies are generic. When I inquire about my grade I was told that I need to follow the procedures for this online class and unfortunately he does not have the time to go over with about it.
He is really entertaining and makes the class pretty fun with his dry/sarcastic sense of humor. Quizzes (easy) are given just about every class so you need to have regular attendance.
Prof A is awesome!! I am an older returning online student and Prof A is very helpful. Great teacher, do the work and follow his advice and you'll get an A.
AWSOME TEACHER!!! best literature professor i have ever had, if you have considered taking a literature class, take it with him, you will not regret it :) has huge compassion for his field, was one of my favorite classes this semester
Great Teacher!!! Very helpful! You have to read the stories he assigns, and the quizzes are right from them. I hate reading (and he didn't make me enjoy it) but the class was def. tolerable.
Drinks lots of coffee b4 going to his class, or else you will fall asleep real quick with his dry/ sarcastic sense of humor. I felt like i was in 3rd grade when i went to his class
Best online prof that I have had. Wish I could have taken for Lit. Gives plenty of example essays online and will proof read anything you send to the discussion board. Tells you what to fix in your essay before you submit it. He even helps the few who write like their in the 5th grade. If you receive anything less than an "A" you didn't try.
Great Teacher!!! Very helpful!i don't understand how someone can fall asleep in his class?!?%| His classes are very interesting! Take him and you will not regret it!
awesome guy. easy class. read stories or the summaries online, take EASY 10 question quizzes. Explains material. 3 real tests. makes jokes and has a great personality. made literature a lot better than it really is. certainly did not mind going to his class.
Nice guy, boring class. He cannot clearly get his point across without saying "Umm" about 10,000 times each class.
I took him online, very helpful, has a good sense of humor, highly recommended.
One of the easiest classes I have taken at PBCC. As long as you read the stories you can get an easy A. 10 question quiz on each story, multiple choice. Three actual tests. Attendance doesn't count, but you need to be there on quiz days.
Great teacher, one of the best I've had so far. Even though I took his course online I learned a lot. It was an easy grade if you do the work and write relatively well.
Best teacher. I've had him four times, and each time I've gotten an A. He get's into the stories, and usually sees some sick sexual thing in every story. Just read the stories and highlight quotes, and you'll pass. He's also funny which help's when you have to read the dryer stuff. He goes over EVERYTHING. There is really no reason not to pass.
As another student said, " He get's into the stories, and usually sees some sick sexual thing in every story." That's because he is SO hot and sexy, I can't help but fantasize about him. He needs some new clothes, however.
I totally have a crush on Mr. A. Not only that, but I enjoy his class. While not all of the reading is terrible enthralling, hearing him disentangle the deeper meanings really brings life to even the most boring stories. I would absolutely recommend his class. 100%
The most amazing and energetic teacher i have ever had! He explains things so well and in depth that it is fun to listen to him. Take him, he is a fantastic teacher. very funny too.
Teaches with great passion--when you look back, he will be one of the best professors you can remember. Test thoroughly, but covers everything in class. Sick sexual? Just great adult humor. Take him and enjoy.
Amazing professor! Listen, read, write a little, test, and pass. Great and enthusiastic!
Prof. Abbondanza was a great teacher. This online class was pretty easy if you can write pretty well. He gives feedback on paper drafts before you get graded. One grammer test and essay on campus. One final essay timed at home.
Very well taught teacher, test are a little hard, just make sure you read the material and you shouldn't have a problem. Attend class and listen to the quotes...those are majority of the tests.
He understands the readings. Very well taught teacher, test are a little hard, just make sure you read the material and you shouldn't have a problem. Attend class and listen to the quotes...those are majority of the tests.
great teacher. as long as you show up and listen and highlight the given quotes you will do just fine. i thought the class was going to be REALLY boring but he made it fun and found a joke in everything.
This is not a easy Class! He fells everyone should be an english major and grades papers that way. I got stright A's in Enc1101 and a c- in his class.
I took his class online and just had to write one 1000-word paper every 3 weeks and submit electronically... no busywork, no wasting time in class. You can submit work early and he will review and offer suggestions (optional but a big grade boost). Expect to spend some time reading.
I took this class online. Even though there is only 5 papers to write and a book to read do not expect it to be a easy A! There was only one time in which he gave us an rubric. However, he is a helpful teacher when it comes to questions. He did help me improve my writing; do not make any grammar mistakes he will take off 2 letters grades.
Took this course online. Awesome teacher. Gives plenty of opportunity to ask questions and even allows you to send in a draft, which he offers valid suggestions. Aced this with an A! Had to write 5 papers total - need to read a book and watch a movie, but overall... fairly easy!
I took this online and I got an A but this is NOT an easy class - so don't kid yourself. We wrote 5 papers in all and he grades rather hard but does give great instructions and allows everyone to submit rough drafts for comments - very helpful. Excellent teacher but not for the weak skilled writer.
Very good teacher. Gives everyone a fair chance. Took the express summer class and passed. Didn't use book at all, although it was mentioned to use. Prof. has a funny side and is very understanding.
took his online Summer A (6wk) class. Very helpful & allows you to submit essays for feedback before turning them in. He does grade a little hard but if you want the grade you will work hard enough. Very funny as well. Only used the book a couple of times. TAKE THIS CLASS :)
I have never been great with writing but truly enjoyed Prof Abbondanza class. It wasn't an easy class, but he will proof every essay before it is submitted for you and give you precise pointers to better your grade. Incredibly helpful and will be looking to take his ENC 1102 class next semester.
He ia a great asset to the student community. As a second language student, I was not a good writer. But prof.A definitely made me a better writer and develop an interest towards English. His willingness to proof read the essay with valid suggestions shoul'nt be missed.Totally devoted to his profession and cares about students.DONT EVER MISS HIS CLAS
Prof. Abbondanza is a great professor! His online ENC1101 course was straightforward and the assignments were actually interesting. There is quite a bit of writing involved (it is an English class). I took his Summer Express Course and did not find it too fast paced. I just wish he taught 1102 online as well.
He's great!! Runs the class smoothly and understanding! I would definitely take another class with him! You have to read the stories if u don't u will fail
One of the best professors you will ever take. He is relevant and makes everything fresh and interesting. Very straightforward tests and quizzes, but you must do the reading. Highly recommended--
He was a great teacher. Very helpful and is always willing to help. He want's everyone to try, but he is a incredibly tough grader. I work 10 hours per essay, and i could get B's at best. A great teacher but a nightmare on grading.
DONT MISS HIM.His willingness to help with positive comments has implanted an interest towards writing which I lacked as a 2nd lang student. As long as you are willing to WORK HARD,NO NEED to worry about your grade. His willingnes to go over your draft = Extra Credit.Prof A,is an irreplaceable asset to PBCC.Every time I have Prof I only get better.
Perhaps its because I <3 literature, but I had a blast in his class. I loved discussing the material as he always made it easy to understand (throwing in a lot of jokes along the way). His tests were all short answer, but so long as you attended class you got on fine. hw=3 essays. period. How easy is that? I can't wait to sign up for another class!
He is a very difficult teacher, but he is very helpful. He wants to see an effort and he is almost always available to help. I took him for both ENC's and he is great. He improved my writing drastically. His instructions are extremely clear and he is very helpful. If you want to learn take this class. If you want an A, take someone else.
I highly reccomend this class. I just returned to school after 9 yrs, and this professor made it a smoothe transition back in. You will never be bored. Great learning environment. You have to read in order to pass. He is always available for help, and he is willing to elaborate on anything pertaining to the class.
Have taken two classes with Professor A - he's a fantastic educator. Is always willing to help. Encourages students to sumbit papers before there due to offer suggestions to improve. Had him for AML as well, read the assignments and go to class you will get an A
I really liked this professor and wish I had taken him for the Honors Class, but sadly I hadn't joined the Honors program yet when I had him. He isn't hard, but you will need to read if you want to do well. If you listen to what he says, pay attention in class, and TAKE NOTES there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A.
Prof. is very clear as to what he wants you to know, and practically gives you the answers to the exam if you pay attention to his lecture and take notes. Quizzes are a bit annoying, but they're easy and his way of keeping you on track with the reading. Prof. is even pretty funny at times and really knows his stuff. I would DEFINITELY recommend--A+
Very sweet professor with a really cute and nerdy sense of humor. He gives daily quizzes on the reading assignments that were easy and 3 test that weren't too difficult. I literally sparknoted every single story and still got an A. take him!
Very nice guy. Anyone would enjoy his class. I'd like to take another class with him as my professor. Take his class. You won't regret it. Just read what he tells you to read, and you'll do well. He won't surprise you, or try to screw you over. He's a genuinely nice guy.
Love his class! very interesting and he keeps he class moving!
Prof. Abbondanza is awesome!!! Took honors with him. He is really nice and funny! He is also very clear and gives a great analysis on all the stories and poems. If you pay attention and take notes there is no reason why you shouldn't do really well.
The only teacher to give me anything less than a B. It's his way or the high way, altered my grade based on something that wasn't graded.
he is a nice guy and has a great sense of humor but his tests are nearly impossible. you have know specific quotes and meanings in the stories and poems. he doesn't return the tests and papers so you don't know where you went wrong. I don't recommend taking him if your major is not literature.
By far one of my worst teachers ever.. I guess if you're interested in reading poems and stories you may do well but there are 3 tests all which include an essay that he grades roughly. I am amazing at english, have had the hardest english teachers and have passed with A's but this class I received a D (borderline C but he didn't round me up).
Professor A is the best! He is one of the nicest teachers I've had at Palm Beach state. He truly wants all of his students to do well. Has a good sense of humor and really helps you have a deeper understanding of literature while making it interesting. His tests aren't bad at all - show up and pay attention and you'll do great! TAKE HIM!
Took him online, and even there I could tell he was a nice man who cared about his students. He was sometimes a little slow to respond to e-mails where I had to pretty much swim my own way around, but all in all, was worth it and it was an enjoyable experience. Got out with a B. :)
Great teacher ! If you honestly want a better understanding of writing/english take him. About 7 essays for the year, he keeps them very broad so you can write whatever best suits you. up to date and relevant topics. Trys to incorporate his humor in class, which makes him very easy going. LAUGH AT HIS JOKES AND DO THE ESSAYS YOULL PASS !!
This class is a easy A. All you need to do is come to class with the textbook and a highlighter and you just have to literally highlight what ever he reads out loud since that is what you are going to be tested on. Lit itself is a very boring subject but the prof personality and really funny and humorous jokes, i looked forward to his class evrytme
Awesome professor! would take him again, the essays are easy and very broad with the topics. He's very funny and helpful but a picky grader, make sure to show him your essays before sending him a final copy.
AMAZING TEACHER!! I have only had 2 good English professors in my almost 4 semesters at PBSC, and he was definitely a very good one. His funny, knows how to explain, his homework is pretty straight forward and basic, doesn't fill you out with spam work or tests. I would take him again for my next English course but he is already full booked!
I took Abbondanza for ENC1101 Lab, its a very easy class! He puts due dates for his work but I've turned things in late and still get full credit, but he hasn't contacted me once and doesn't really give you feedback.
Class is so easy that it's almost impossible to fail. There were no test or quizzes, besides the midterm and final exam. There were 5 essays for the whole semester, but topics were pretty easy.
Professor Abbondanza made what I thought was going to be a boring and hard class an enjoyable and easy one. His lectures are great, he adds humor but also really helps you remember the material. He is straightforward about what he wants in his essays and how the test will be, he always does a Q&A before the test. No final, just a regular test.
Amazing teacher! He is clear and concise and really makes reading a lot of fun! 3 test with essay and a quiz after each reading. Take him!
It's impossible to fail His class. Only 5 essays, and 2 graded in class essays with a final exam on grammar. He is funny, and before the essay is due he let's you show it to him Or send it, and he will help you. I liked his class and will take him again
Fantastic Professor. Read the stories and pass the class. It is that easy.
This Professor is FABULOUS! He sends you bountiful information on each essay and is there to correct your 1st draft so you're always sure to get an A. I learned so much from him, and attendance is not mandatory. Just check your email for his helpful notes, consult with him before you turn in your papers, and an A is all yours!!!!
He is a great and very helpful teacher. You will write about 8 out of class essays and 2 in-class, but he will go over them with you and guide you in the right direction. I'm not good at English or writing and I got an A, but I went to the writing lab for each essay and had him look over each as well. Showing up isn't really required.
Just started class but I would say by far the most laid back professor. 3 exams 80% of grade, Weekly quizzes 20%, and class attendance is only factored into the student's final grade according to the professor's judgment but participation is important because the exams are based on lectures. His humor is dry but entertaining. ThumbsUP! TAKEHIM!
Mr. Abbondanza is a great teacher. He gives you enough time to complete your assignments and guides you through it. Likes to make funny jokes. Extremely recommended!!
Great teacher. Very passionate about his area of study. I'm taking as many English classes with him as possible.
Would take this teacher again. He is very nice and helpful and will always have time to look at your essay. Attendance isn't mandatory but it does help. He sends everything he talked about in class in a email. Makes a lot of jokes and tries to relate. Consult him on your essays and you will get an A.
IVE ACED THREE OF HIS COURSES. Take him and you actually DO learn something.
i hate english and i still got an A LOL love him!
Literature was a big no-no for me up until I got to his class. Loved it. Makes everything so simple yet interesting. Pretty straight-forward with his tests and wants to help you out.
The class is not too difficult. You have quizzes every class but if you read the material then you can easily get A's on all of them (they are not difficult). He gives good reviews after the quiz so your prepared for the exams. Very funny and intelligent professor, I would recommend him to anyone for literature.
Glad I took him for English. Funny and very kind. He guides you through, step by step on every essay. No textbook, only one novel needed. No tests or exams, only 5 essays. Would 100% recommend.
Will try his best to answer any questions you have, however the tests can be difficult at times, and he is a tough grader when it comes to the long answers. No study guides and his reviews are based off your questions.
I took his online class for ENC1102 and absolutely loved it. 5 Essays in total; due every Monday which he will examples and excercises for beforehand. He also will read it over before you turn it in. He is great with answering questions and explaining what you don't understand. You have to read a book but will enjoy it. 100% recommend his class!
Great professor. His feedback helped me become a better writer. 5 essays, no final exam and plenty of material to assist you in getting an A. I am excited to have taken his class. I recommend it to anyone needing English!
Prof. A is amazing! He knows the reading materials are boring and tries to make it fun. Show up to class because there are short easy quizzes on the material and his explanations really help. TAKE NOTES AND UNDERLINE PASSAGES HE READS OUT LOUD. 3 exams all easy if you read and study a bit, 3 essays min of 500words, more for a better grade.
This prof is amazing! I was really scared of the exams and mini quizzes cuz my memory sucks but he really understands and helps! just pay attention in class, do the reading, TAKE NOTES! and study for the exams. Do the essays cuz they really help your grade. The exams are not open book, 20 short response 20 multiple choice, easy if you di the readin
He is a nice man, and sets the assignment due dates in a great timely manner. There are 4 in-class essays where you use the text book, one research paper, and assignments preparing you for the research paper. I went to class maybe 6 times the whole semester and still received a B+. Take him.
This was a 6 week course, so the work can be more intense being that everything is compressed within a shorter time period. I put effort into every assignment. All questions/concerns, were to be presented on a specific day and time-frame. I received an "F for excluding something as simple as a quote from the book. I wish I can explain some more...
He was a very nice man and helped me to improve my writing. I ended up with an A. however, he was a very tough grader and you need to be very conscious of his likes and dislikes. His online lectures are cringey and not helpful in the least, but they're just short intros to each essay (there r 6 very boring essays and a grammar test)
Took this professor for ENC1101 & ENC1102 and passed both with a B. Gives great feedback and gives you the opportunity to turn in your essay's early for proofreading and to make corrections. Definitely recommend this professor!
Take him! He's funny and super laid back. Makes the reading easier to understand mini quizzes and three exams! Take notes, study and read you'll pass. I love his style of teaching, would take him again. Only a few small writing assignments and I hate writing.
Was doing well in the class until I failed one major essay which caused me to do poorly in the class. Didnt really do well with explaining things in a better sense. Some days were pointless to come in class but he does try his best to keep the class upbeat. Wouldnt really recommend. Or take again
Super easy going! Make sure you read mini quizzes and three exams which are harder than the quizzes, take notes and study! Small writing assignments and I hate writing, wasn't too bad.
He cares if you pass his class. Will go through every assignment with you and gives you clear dates of tests and quizzes. He is available before and after class and is always willing to help. It's also an extremely easy class and instead of always reading he'll usually throw in a video here and there to keep us awake. I would take him again.
Amazing professor ! Very easy going, very lenient . Gets off topic sometimes but eventually realizes and gets right back on topic! Would definitely recommend him!
I've taken Professor Abbondanza twice and both times I was very satisfied. He is a very funny professor and really goes over the poems and stories in detail. Just read the poems at home because there are a couple of quizzes, but only 3 tests. I highly recommend this class it was very fun.
He's a really great professor, he makes lectures fun and is easy to talk to. His test and pop quizzes are easy just make sure to read the material or skim it and you should pass. The only thing is he's not flexible at all he will not let you remake any test or take it early if you're not going to be there. : I would take him again though easy A.
Slightly interactive, tries to engage with the students with some casual conversations. Homework is just reading, quizzes about readings are very easy, if you read youll definitely pass all quizzes and exams easily, he explains the concepts of the readings very well.
Good professor, was great with communicating with me via email, ect. However in class he is pretty much useless you dont even learn anything but he tries to be funny.
I took this professor for ENC1102 online. It was an accelerated course so we had a paper due every week but that wasn't his fault and he was extremely clear about instructions and great with feedback. He's a great teacher and I'm taking him again for LIT this spring. Just like ANY course in school, if you do your best, and the work--you will pass.
do not take this class. ENL 2022. you need to memorize random quotes from over 10 poems for tests. Take LIT2050 survey of literature humor instead with john ribar (online). lit2050 has no tests and all easy assignments. save yourself the headache for a literature class. lit2050 is such a joke.
I needed this class for credits... So maybe I'm just not the best at English. But, I would even ask my friends for help or advice, and they agreed that this professor is very hard... Gives great feedback of every essay. I worked my butt off, and passed this class, but it was VERY hard.
No real direction on how to write the essays, no "teaching", or any type of rubric at all.. the class was easy and the essays were short, I passed with a B. The only grades are 6 essays, one essay outline, and a test. The test (for online) is open book. The class is pretty easy if you're good with writing papers, not so much if you aren't.
Great Professor and great discussions! Don't necessarily need the books, could definitely find stories online and he goes over the stories in class with specific details that are on test. Tests are both multiple choice and short response with take home essay, makes getting an A super easy for you. Keeping up with readings is important for quizzes!
I have to say he is one of my fav professors. He makes you think outside of the box. I loved his lectures and how much he wanted us to learn the material from multiple POV. He also tells corny jokes/sarcasm. 3 take-home essays + exams very easy. If you dont take notes or only read and not pay attention in class you'll probably fail. He is awesome
Overall good professor, and has a good good sense of humor and is hilarious. But just be ready to study allot and analyze the things that he goes over in class.
Book not required, you can find the readings online. Prof will be slightly disheartened knowing that you didn't get the book. You can always print it out before class and read along with him. Quiz after every reading (10 questions) just to ensure you read it. 3 Tests (40 questions 20multi/20short response) 3 Essays (no citing or research needed)
Honestly I found myself looking forward to this class. Hes a great professor gives a reasonable amount of work and makes it easy to be successful in his class. Favorite professor thus far.
Great professor and extremely accessible. Perfect for English because all you really need to do is turn in the couple of papers and that is your grade. Prof Abbondanza really goes above and beyond to help the students - plenty of opportunities to turn in drafts so you know exactly what to do to get an A! Taking him again this semester!
Get ready to write! Regardless, he's a great teacher and gives you plenty of opportunities to turn in drafts and get papers peer-reviewed.
Best English teacher ever you wont regret taking him. Be prepared to write papers but its not difficult. He provides samples of essays to help you. He responds to you quickly. He wants his class to succeed. I would definitely take him again
Best. Professor. Ever! This class, of course, is nothing but writing essays. However, he gives you PLENTY of time to finish the papers. He gives you examples, outlines, and an array of information that helps tremendously. He also gives feedback on each paper which will help you improve on the next one. Take him, you will NOT be disappointed.
Class is graded by 8 assignments (7 essays and 1 citation test) but if you know how to write a paper and don't need to be wasting time in a lecture - this is the class for you. He gives you the opportunity to submit every paper early for feedback before it is due, which makes it literally IMPOSSIBLE not to get an A! I even chose to take him twice
He's kind of a tough grader. For this class you write 500 word essays every other week, final is 1.5k words. You definitely need the book. He answers emails quick, and looks over your essay if you turn it in early. Just keep doing your work, read ALL instructions, and you'll be okay.
Loved this class! All you need to do is be aware of deadlines. Gives AMAZING feedback
This professor is the amazing. His lectures are interesting, thought-provoking, and often comical. His class is easy to pass as long as you pay attention to the lectures and read the works. Also, he is fairly laid-back and friendly. I have no complaints about this professor and would gladly take another class from him!
I took his course online and I really enjoyed the class. Assignments were given at the start of the semester and he gave clear dates for when everything was due. Abbondanza was very personable and loved to make dad-like jokes which I feel like made the class more light-hearted. I wish I signed up for classes sooner so I could've taken him again.
Horrible setup for online classes. Content and assignments are post on discussion board with the wrong dates. Not only that but posting it on here causes confusion, especially with the misleading dates. Not ideal at all compared to other online classes. Tough grader when it comes to attendance even if your one minute late.
not a bad professor but no opportunities to raise your grade, i got into the course late and couldn't make up 1/3 test so i failed and had to take the course again with another professor. if you read the passages he assigns the test are easy and you'll pass. good lectures but please participate it makes him happy.
This prof was honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. He opens the assignments on the first day of school. He is very quick to reply to emails and very kind and encouraging. You can submit your essays for him to look over before submitting your final attempt and he gives clear, helpful feedback. Take this class you will not regret it!
Took him for ENL2022 and glad I did! He loves literature and really has a way of making old school lit sound easy to understand. You are given a few papers throughout the semester. Def have to read or else you won't pass at all lol but it's one of those classes you appreciate in the long run! He has a good sense of humor too.
He's great! Gives great feedback and he's very organized. A handful of papers throughout the semester but he's willing to read your draft! It's a breath of fresh air to basically receive feedback that in turn yields an A! One test the entire semester but you will definitely read a lot of material. Each paper preps you for the next.
AMAZING! I did generally well on all of the assignments and never felt like he underscored; in fact, I feel like he overscored some of my not-so-good work at least, and in the end, one assignment pulled me back but still managed to give me an A. I will be taking ENC1102 with him <3.
A very good professor who wants his students to succeed.
He is not that bad of a professor. He never gives a 100%. If you submit your work ahead of time he will read it and give feedback so you can change mistakes. Don't expect to get higher than 95 on the essay tho. When writing the essay view sample essays and never forget a heading or citations. Just have him review everything to get a decent grade.
I hated literature with a burning passion and I looked forwards to his lectures! If you pay attention in class there's no way you wouldn't pass. He's super caring, hilarious, and easy-going. Even if you don't listen, everything you need for this class is on youtube or online. Including detailed summaries and analyses. TAKE HIM. you won't regret it!
I took both ENC1101 and ENC1102 with Professor Abbondanza and I loved my experience in each class. He gave clear guidelines for how the papers were to be written, and provided meaningful feedback along with each grade. Definitely recommend taking a class with him!!
Highly recommend taking Professor Abbondanza. HIs course is all based on exam grades, but if you pay any attention at all to the lectures he gives you everything you need. Attendance on zoom did not require cameras on.
I took professor Abbondanza this summer for LIT100 and he was amazing. He made the class so enjoyable and easy I could not believe it. There is a lot to read yes and you have to go to class to take your own notes to succeed. Just take him!!
LOVE this professor. please take him. if you are extremely sick, he will take that into consideration. will grant extensions. overall one of the best classes I have taken online.
I took the online course and he gave a whole week to do each essay even though the word count was usually just 750. He lets you post your draft early and gives clear feedback so that you can fix it and turn it in for a better grade.
I loved having Professor Abbondanza for this class. He was so helpful and always gave very clear feedback. We had a total of six assignments for the semester: four 750 word essays, one grammar test, and one 1500 word essay. I recommend to always use the draft exchange because he tells you exactly what you have to fix in order to get a good grade.
I loved taking his class! He gives great feedback, especially if you post your essay drafts to the Draft Exchange Board. I'm already taking him again for ENC1102. The only thing I wonder about is how to possibly get 100% on any assignment of his. Even on assignments that only had a few comments (which were all positive) I could only get to a 95.
Prof. Abbondanza was my favorite professor of the semester. He has fair grading and gives plenty of time to complete each assignment. For his essay assignments, he offers a period of time for him to review your essay and give feedback to heighten the level of work that you turn in for your overall grade. Best Prof. Ever!
He is very communicative through discussion boards/announcements and he gives detailed instructions along with sample papers. He gives great feedback so you know your weak areas and he makes suggestions. You can also submit your paper for him to review it before the official submission. He also shares questions asked by others with his response.
I don't understand how this Prof. Abbondanza has a 5/5 before he is one of the harness graders I know, he doesn't work with you to make sure you can succeed in the course. He doesn't give extra credit to you so can't expect that from this class.
Awful. This professor has chosen a textbook with the most tired topics imaginable. Every topic is on something social justice related from the past few years that has been discussed to the point it's like beating a dead horse. I feel like I have brain worms after taking this class. Thumbs down, come up with some thought-provoking material.
I hate literature but this professor is super nice and caring it made me interested in reading, definitely take him.
This is the finest lecturer I've had so far, and the class is really simple. I did the 6-week course, and each week we were required to write a 750-word essay. He allows you to publish your drafts so you may finish with a higher grade. He was very kind and enjoyed speaking with the students when there were inquiries.
Loved this professor. Gave great feedback and wanted everyone to succeed.
Not an easy A class, but it's not the most difficult thing it's just so much reading, very strict on attendance, and if you miss class or a test, I hope you have a validated excuse because he won't care, also, the class is only graded by three tests 20 multiple choice, 20 short essays, and a min 750 word essay and attendance so don't miss class.
Was a really nice professor at least, just was a hard grader for essays. Also you have to read a lot of boring pieces of literature. Hes the only professor to ever give me a C on an essay, even when I really tried. No extra credit to help your grade. The time to take his tests wasnt enough. Even tho he's fun with his students, would not take again.
He is great. There are really only 6 or 7 graded items in the class. Most are shorter essays and the last essay is a 1500 word research essay on a fairly broad topic. He offers to pre-read your essays and will give feedback. He also posts every expectation for every assignment, so you know from day 1 exactly what to expect.
The class was relatively easy with 3 750 word essays and 3 easy tests based on the readings gone over in class
Absolutely amazing, highly recommend taking a class with him!
This professor is great. He gives clear instructions, provides essay examples and outlines, proofreads, and gives detailed feedback if you submit a week before the due date. You get plenty of time to complete your essays. He also gives you all day on your timed essay and grammar test. Take the practice grammar test and ask him to review it.
Great professor, responds immediately, is active in the discussion boards, extremely helpful, and goes into depth on what is needed. Going to be a lot of writing and reading, but other than that, he makes things pretty simple. Overall really enjoyed his class, even though it was online.
Overall, Mr. Abbondanza was a perfect teacher if you want to learn or if you struggle a little with writing. He shows exactly what you need in your essay: 750 words min and 1500 min for final. If your already decent in writing essays, you'll be just fine with him. Also easy to communicate with. Honestly, the best writing teacher I've ever had.
This class is overall pretty easy and consists of only 5 essays (about 700 words each) and a grammar test. After each essay he would then annotate it. You can submit assignments to a discussion post before the due date to get some feedback. He did single handedly ruined my 4.0 GPA tho. Learn from me don't miss assignments since there are very few.
Class is relatively easy. There are about 5 essays (700 words each besides the last one is 1400) and a grammar test. Before the due date u can upload ur essay to a discussion and he will give feedback. Don't miss assignments i missed the grammar quiz and it single handedly ruined my 4.0 GPA. He refuses to allow make up work even if ur grandma died.
This class honestly wasn't that bad. Only 4-5 assignments for the class and they are mainly essays. He has a draft discussion board to post your essay before it's due for him to look over and give you feedback. He gives great feedback. Definitely would recommend him. I took him for both ENC1101 and ENC1102. Great class and professor.
Rude.
enjoyable class. personally the class was difficult for me because i am not the brightest in literature and missed a couple classes. his class is 90% exams (essays are 20% of each exam, 750 words) and there are 3 exams, with 10% being attendance. be sure to pay attention to his lectures and take notes. you will need the lockdown browser, no camera.
Professor Abbondanza is an excellent writing instructor. He provides detailed feedback, clear guidelines, and plenty of support to help students succeed. Embracing the resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook makes this class manageable, even for those who struggle with writing.
Dr. Abbondanza is the best. He gives great feedback no matter what your writing level is. There are 6 total assignments, one being a grammar test. This class is easy if you manage your time wisely and put the effort in.
take this professor, it was so easy for me. i took express and it was like a walk in the park easy a
All of the essays came from material from the textbook which was slightly boring but made the assignment easier. He is a tough grader but he allows you to submit your essay before the due date and he will give you feedback to ensure you are going in the right direction. Overall I liked this course though it was stressful.
He gives good feedback and clear directions for the assignments. He is very supportive. The turnaround time for feedback on essays is commendable. There were samples of essays, and this really helped. I will recommend this class.
I took Professor Abondanza for three classes because of how great he is. He doesn't offer extra credit, but you get 2 weeks to complete each assignment/essay, which gives you plenty of time to do your best. He also allows students to post their work on the discussion board before submitting it for a grade and provides helpful feedback.
He really made me enjoy writing. He leaves comments on your papers that are critiques, but he also encourages you.
Prof A. truly wants you to pass. He gives such clear instructions and provides sample essays and other resources. He also encourages you to post your drafts so he can provide feedback before you submit the final version. Really helpful professor, and he gives like 2 weeks to complete the assignments. 10/10.
Not a bad professor at all but he does not give any opportunity to rise your grade so I ended up failing the course , the sad part is I knew all the books and tried my best .
Professor Abbondanza is very kind and caring. He gives 3 grades
I would not recommend taking this professor. He is not considerate at all, He is not reliable, every time I tried to reach out he never responded and when he did it was very vague and not helpful at all, He criticizes any small detail in essays and expects you to write a lot with an unreasonable deadline. Its his way or the highway. ANYONE BUT HIM.
