this "teacher" had me in tears on several occasions. it is obvious that this class is not about Ethics but merely about david alexanders opinions and ideas. i didnt take his class to learn his life story.. he is unhelpful and very confusing and seems to make up his assignments and grading scales as he goes along. SAVE YOURSELF AND DONT TAKE HIM!
This clas.. was interesting. Some of his lectures are okay, others are just what the guy b4 me said. Too many papers. Do not ever take HUM and ethics w/ him b/c they are the same class. If you do, take them at the same time and you can just hit print twice on your class notes. But then you might have to do 2 different 5 page book reviews.
The man asks for a 500 word review of the notes that we took in class, which during the summer term he says is two classes worth of notes so we have to do double the reviews and we have chapter summaries of 500 words every few days, so all in all we have about 1500 words of typing in about a 3 day span. Please God save yourself do not even think ab
this teacher had most of my class very upset, he was rude. it was not discussions but rather him pounding his ideas into your head and making you agree with him, if you did not you would have a difficult time in his class. i passed with a decent grade, but i would strongly agree against taking his class, ever!
I don't know why the others had such a tough time with him but I enjoyed coming to classes. He was very opinionated but I don't feel that he forced his ideas onto us. I guess that's why this is just an opinion. I would take him again if given the chance.

Dude he is ****ing awesome, no ****ing tests or finals ever...
Had him for one class, loved him so much I took him again!
Well, this class was fairly interesting. I enjoyed hearing some of the professor's many opions, but he got other students upset with some of them. Plus there was far too much writing. I don't even recall doing this much writing in any of my English classes. I wouldn't recommend this teacher to anyone, to be honest.
This man is a left-wing oxy-moronical self-proclaimed "christian". He is completely unclear with his assignments and leaves you to figure it out yourself. He will verbally attack and attempt to embarrass anyone who disagrees with his views. Howev

David Alexander is a horrible professor. His classes were about teaching you how to think like him. He threw two girls out of my class the first day, and many more the rest of the semester simply for disagreeing with what he said.
As was previously stated, Dr. Alexander's class is not actually about Ethics; it is about what he thinks and feels and believes personally. He talks about his own life, telling the same stories over and over, and then asks you to write papers every few days based on what he has said. He is such an ass that I dropped his class once, then later, deleriously, thought I would try again with him. Like a bad boyfriend, I dropped him again and never looked back. Save yourself some strife and just avoid him!
Interesting lectures, but way too much writing.
He is awesome!! His lectures are really good and i get a lot out of them. He's very insightful and gets the point across very clearly. Never a dull moment intellectually.
He can be very rude and abrupt, especially if you do not agree with his views. He thinks he is the smartest person in the world, and he will remind you of that every day. If you can put up with his absurd behavior, **** remarks, and racial profileng, you will do ok in his class. It's pretty easy....(Homework tip)...he loves to see his own quotes
This is the most time consuming class I have ever taken. It is easy, but there is a lot of writting. The class is all about his opinions on barely ethical topics. He will flat out tell you that your opinions are wrong. This class is good for an easy grade and that is all. If you want to learn, take someone else.
he was effing awesome unless ur like hardcore christian...not really christian but u have like old timey beleifs or typical beleifs
Alexander is certainly from the old school, bad 4 some not most. He has experienced life and is trying to prepare his students for the REAL world, where most everyone has their own opinion. If you want a learning challenge that will better prepare you for life in the big city take his class. He's an enlightened man who is willing to direct the lost
Totally talks down to you. Don't take it unless you have to. Tons of writting.
GREAT teacher. Loves to talk and talk and talk some more. Just raise one topic and he will talk on it for hours. Keeps it interesting. Watch films here and there. One "secret" final and project. Just do your freakin work, don't be a slacker and do your at least B best and you can get an A. I got like a 60 on final. I did everything else A.
Excellent teacher
His World Religion class is a joke. He can't seem to get over his own personal bias and prejudice against conservatives, and 'white Christianity.' He preaches more about spirituality and personal ethics then about the structure and functions of religion so if you are serious about learning about world religion then take a different professor.
I took this class with hopes of learning about all religions, but instead I was mostly taught about Christianity, which I was trying to get away from. I think that a teacher that teaches a religion course should be unbiased. I have also emailed Dr. Alexander on many occasions and have yet to get a response from him, its the end of the semester an
Worst teacher I ever had. Kicked me out of the class, then brought me back in with out notifying me. I had to go to the board of trustees to get a "W" on my transcript. Terrible don't waste your time.

With Dr. Alexander, you either like or hate him...no middle ground with this guy. If you want an easy grade, then this is the class to take. He's straight forward with what he wants and the only way you will fail his class is if you do not do the work.
Anyone who bashes this teacher is an illiterate. The only people who hate him are those who do not understand what he is teaching. You must do your part to read. He will not lecture you like a 2nd grader!
Read the syllabus! If he likes you the rules change. If he doesn't like you he will stick to the rules that are designed for you to get a low grade. He is very smart and nice somedays to the guys not the girls. He's a country boy.
He is very passionate...seems to be misunderstood at times. I enjoyed his lectures and the conversations that followed. Not hard to make a good grade. A little more reading and writing than I prefer.
Hes talks off the wall sometimes and is really bias...If you dont have his beleifs to him ur wrong...Made humanities too hard for no reason...Final was bs he said that there would be 50 questions but really was only 8. and two of them werent on the final test reveiw...Take someone eles...
he is extremely demand of your time. he makes you treat his class as if you did not have other classes or work.
He is a biased professor who does nothing but lecture you on his own beliefs. He turns a World Religion class into a Christianity class & only talks about what HE believes Christianity is.He assigns a lot of writing about other religions in your book but never discusses it.When asked a question he goes off topic and doesn't answer.I learned nothing.
He struggles to answer any question posed and then in an effort to answer it he goes way off topic. Class time consists of nothing but lecturing about something that you are never tested on. Lots of work out of the book but it's never discussed in class. He is biased and turns a WORLD Religion class into Christianity. Waste of time. Poor professor.
This class is mostly about the personal opinions of the professor. So if you are more conservative minded, he'll probably drive you crazy. But he is generally a friendly man. He doesn't like contradictory opinions, though. (HW tip: restate his opinion and then tell your own.)
Professor Alexander's class is really easy. He definitely lets everyone know what he expects in order to get an A in his class. His discussion are kind of biased but hey it is an ethics class. He's pretty helpful if questions are asked. Very easy going guy!
Alexander is a great guy and is incredibly smart. If you are looking to learn specifically about humanities and art and all that stuff, take someone else. this guy will do lectures on LIFE. He will try to open your mind. I enjoyed it.
I was awed by Alexander's "intelligence" and his creative thinking. I was one of his favorite students and took several classes with him. BUT....look into what he spouts out as fact. I was so disappointed to find out that 90% of what he told us was proved false by a five minute internet search. Class is super easy though..you can't fail.
This is a very easy class. If you do the homework and turn it in on time you will have no problem. A lot of lectures but attendence is not mandatory.
Please do not take this professor. If he doesnt like what you are saying he talks over you or says that its not a valid point. If your not a far out there left wing and a southern baptist then you are ignored. Please if you value your sanity dont take this class!
Just say no...he's rediculous.
Very mixed about him. He's a bit...eccentric. I'm usually a fan of easy busy work to help boost grades but having to do class notes summaries and chapter summaries every single week got annoying and eventually I fell behind. Then you have 2 5pg book reports at the end, but I got so tired of the work I just bs'd it and was happy with a C. Not rec
Pretty easy, gets boring. I would recomend him!
PROFESSOR IS GREAT. MAKES THE ASSIGNEMENTS VERY CLEAR, NOT HARD, ONLY USE YOUR BOOK FOR CHAPTER NOTES (10-500 WORDS), YOU HAVE CLASS NOTES (10-500 WORDS) YOU REALLY CAN'T FAIL THIS CLASS. GREAT GUY, WILL HAVE YOU LAUGHING....
The Prof. is very easy but his class is BORING! Every class he lectures and that's really just it. You have an assignment every class which is to just fill out a sheet saying what he lectured about the class before and once a week you write a chapter summary. At the end of the semester, you have one VERY easy project of your choice. EASY GRADE!
He is an awesome professor! He gives you a syllabus the first day that lays out everything you need to do (great for people who want to get a head start on assignments.) He's pretty lenient about when you turn these assignments in. Plus he's just freakin' hilarious. Lectures are great; lots of discussion. I reccemend highly.
A very kind and gentle man, however he likes to relate a lot of his teachings back to Christianity. I wish he would of spent more time on teaching the structure and history of other religions rather than focusing more on spirituality. Lots and lots of homework writing, but it's easy.
Super easy however don't expect to learn much. There is alot of writing involved but all you have to do is bs it and you got yourself an A. Boring class.
This class is the easy. He tells you exactly what you need to get an A. Just be good at typing papers. He looks for the amount of words, not the quality of the work. ALSO!!! the only thing you need the book for is the chapter summaries so you can easily get away with using the previous edition (the current ones are always like $140)
He is highly intelligent and a kind person. I enjoyed his lectures because you can sense his point of views. Lecture are slow, but if you participate by asking questions or tell him your point of view, it makes class goes fast and you will enjoy the course. He is not an ass, sarcastic, or acidulous person, like most prof at POLK. I.WOULD.TAKE.HIM.O
Lectures seemed pointless, but are mandatory because of the class note summaries required. Most work is done outside of class. Lots of reading, lots of writing because he said he's preparing us for higher level classes. If you are NOT a procrastinator, then this class will be an easy A for you.
Great professor! Very kind and explains exactly what you need to do to get a 'A'. I would definitely take him again.
Alexander is such a joy! This class requires ALOT of work (500 word summeries every day.) but he offers alot of extra credit and hes a really fun teacher. You will want to go to class just to see what he'll talk about the next. You have to stay up to date on the reading and always take notes!! But its really easy I got an A+ :D
I love Alex!! Great Professor..I barely showed up and still made a B and that was only because i found it pointless to do the 5pg book report on les miserables..I love alex and took him for ethics as well it was an experience i will never forget because he is soooo quirky..Alex is a wonderful teacher..
Took him for religion and ethics. Such an easy class if you want it to be. Only need to go to 10-15 of the 30 classes. Weird man, but very smart. 500 word summaries from 10-15 classes, 500 word summaries on 10 chapters. Tons of extra credit. Optional book report. Seriously, so easy. Take him for anything you can.
I would not recommend this professor. His lectures are terribly off topic and boring. If you do end up with him make sure you do the textbook summaries. I didn't realize how in depth they were and put them off, ended up with a D because of it. Just do your work and you will be fine, but don't expect to be intellectually stimulated by this class.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS 10 500 WORDS CHAPTER SUMMARIES AND 10 500 WORD NOTES. THEN TWO CREATIVE PROJECTS. NO TESTS
Super nice, easy class. Just do 10 chapter summaries from the book. The summary is at the end of the chapter so just re-word that. And also 10 class notes, super easy. and 2 book reports; one on whatever you prefer and the other on les miz. EASY CLASS!
He is a wonderfully easy and laid back professor. This was basically a class just to meet an AA requirement, so I wasn't too concerned with really learning everything. The assignments were really easy, and you can turn two or three in at a time if you would like. He's not strict at all.
This class was cake. The only thing is he requires 1000 words a week for 10 weeks and a final project for a B. if you have the time and the patience to read the required novel for the class you can get an A. He will spend most of his time talking about random things, playing music, and talking to his mother during class but worth taking.
This class was cake. The only thing is he requires 1000 words a week for 10 weeks and a final project for a B. if you have the time and the patience to read the required novel for the class you can get an A. No test!! He will spend most of his time talking about random aspects of religions but is open to other perspectives of it.
Loved this class! He has so much knowlege and is very interesting! If you keep up on the work(which is so easy) you are guaranteed a 'B' to get an 'A' you must do the book review. If you are happy with a 'B' this class is simple and interesting. He gives extra credit and gives you a easy way to fulfil your project. Take the opportunity!
Very easy. 1000 words a week plus class notes! No tests! Very nice guy.
Easy enough class for Summer B , 1000 words a week plus class notes and a quick book review. Must do a second book review to receive an A. Nice and understanding prof, he is courteous not to offend anybody and never got out of character in our class. Nice Guy.
Great Professor!
This man is the best teacher at Polk State. He is understanding and completely fun. He likes it when you engage in the discussions. Easy B. Take this class. I say B because the only way to get an A is by doing the book report.
Dr. Alexander is kind, understanding and extremely qualified; he's traveled the world studying religions. (I took him for World Religion) He accepts late work, the book for class only costs 25$, the class discussions are engaging, we always got out an hour early, and he offered around 300 pts of extra credit, as well as fun alternative assignments.
Professor Alexander was one of the most enlightening professors I have ever had, and I graduated a year ago. He opened my eyes to new art, movies, and plays. He taught me different ways to view them and different ways to take in life. His relaxed teaching style, and personality made me make sure it was the one class I had perfect attendance in!
Alexander is an awesome professor, although he doesn't shy away from his beliefs he makes sure to never degrade beliefs that differ from his. 1000 words a week plus a book report and a short project will get you an A. Take this man he is wise beyond belief, knows his subject, and will challenge you as a top notch professor should.
THE easiest class I have ever taken. I took prefessor alexander for humanities, ethics, and world religion. I made an A in all 3 classes and barely ever showed up. Final grade is comprised of 10 class notes, 10 chapter summaries and 2 book reviews. again, SO EASY. Just do the work, and you'll get the grade.
I love this professor. He tells you straight up what you need to do to get a good grade in the class. Plus, there is no midterm or final. Each week 500 word chapter summary and 500 word class note summary. He's a crazy, liberal, extremely knowledgeable professor! Love it.
Alexander is not only a great professor but person in general. I call his classes thinkers classes because he challenges you to evaluate everything around you. He is Liberal but is always objective and never disrespects opposing views. Do 10 class notes, 10 chapter summaries, 2 projects & or 2 book reviews & you get an A. Would recommend to anyone
Mrs. Alexander is an amazing guy. Loved everything about the class it’s a real eye opener to the world.
His class is really easy and very interesting, his work is not hard and you will definitely learn A LOT, very nice man.
One of the easiest professors you'll ever take. He's very simple with assignments and offers plenty of extra credit. I would highly recommend taking him. There were few assignments and he's very lenient. Sometimes a little kooky, but a great filler class.
I took him for ethics. He's a little weird, but he cares a lot about the subjects that we go over. Class is not mandatory, but there are writing assignments. A total of 10 chapter reviews and 10 class notes plus two book reports or a creative project. Pretty sure he didn't even read any of the work. Easy A unless you refuse to do the writings.
Great class! He is very easy and you don't take tests.
Great professor! There is a lot of writing assignments but as long as you do the work and turn it in you will receive an A. Attendance is not mandatory. There aren't any tests. He is very clear about the assignments. On the first day he will give you a syllabus with everything you will ever need to turn it. He also offers extra credit.
Easy class, but hated it: I turned in a few remaining papers, including a necessary book report if you want an a, on the last possible day to turn it in. Well he lost it the papers I gave him because he said he didn't get them but I know I turned them in. He hasn't changed my grade yet, and he's the kind of guy who would forget to.
Dr. Alexander is a piece of work. Tells you exactly what you need to pass and what you need for an A. Lectures are sometimes insane, but I enjoy them. Definitely is the type of professor that you need to experience at least once in college.
Professor Alexander is the most amazing professor I have ever had. I would highly recommend his class to everyone. Polk State is blessed to have him. I don't even care what my grade is because this class is actually life changing. He will open your eyes and his lectures are so captivating that you won't be ready for the class to end.
I took Alexander for Humanities. There are 10 chapter summaries, 10 class summaries each a page long, and like 2 big 5+ page essays. But, that's about it. There are no tests, you pretty much just show up and do your work. There's TONS of extra-credit opportunities too. I probably got 100+ percent with 3 extra-creditGoogle these actors assignments.
I adored this class and Dr. Alexander. He's a kind person and grades pretty easily. Lectures are long but unnecessary to passing the class. Just do the assigned ten chapter summaries and the final project and you've got an easy A.
Sit back and have fun, Professor Alexander is so fun and easy to understand, his classes are super. Professor Alexander will go to great lengths to explain the subject at hand so you will understand. I personally learned a lot and had a great time! would hand down recommend his classes if you want to learn something!
He doesn't believe in tests and thats what made me take him but he is a wonderful teacher! So funny, does not give a woot what he says or who hears him. Homework is set from the beginning and I got it done early on so I got to sit back and enjoy the class so much. He opens your mind up to whats really going on in the world. Best ethics teacher!
Clear expectations! Finish early and sit back and enjoy his lectures. He's a hoot! Book report is a must to recieve an A. Interesating class.
THIS GUY IS GREAT! By far one of the best professors I have ever taken. No tests or quizzes, but his homework assignments help you learn! I will be taking him a gain no doubt!
I absolutely loved his class
Professor Alexander is just wonderful! Great man. Made class and lectures exciting!
As long as you do the required assignments, it is not difficult to pass this course. Showing up to class is 100% necessary and if you don't show up you WILL fail. Pay attention, do homework, you'll do good. I will admit, it is a lot of work, but it is not daunting.
First time he spoke I knew I would like his class. He is very laid back for the most part, loves to joke around, and ask us our opinions. If you love to debate, this is the class to take. I could hold off on doing assignments in his class because it's not due until the end of the term. I loved his class and teaching. I strongly recommend him.
I took him for ethics and his class was awesome. He is very passionate about the class and if something isn't well understood he will reverbate it until you understand. There were a few moments where my jaw dropped from something he said, but it is always in good will and meant to just provide humor. I would take him again.
his class is divided in to three grades. -lecture notes- he expects ten 500 word papers on a topic discussed in class. turning them in any later then a week a week after the topic was discussed makes it worth half a paper -reading summary- another 10 500 word papers on the any religion in the textbook -extracurricular- 5 page book report/experience
Would never take this Professor again. He assigns over 20 papers that are due at the end of the year. He is confusing and does not answer questions. Does not have tests but you have to sit in his class for an hour and listen to his boring off topic lectures every single day.
Best class I've taken. His lectures are very interesting and its supposed to be a class discussion rather than a lecture. You have 20 papers total due. Very easy stuff if you actually do it but if you put it off until the end of the semester like me, it will hurt you. Very interesting class. Tons of extra credit opportunities too.
Basically you have to show up to nearly every class to pass. This alongside 24 essays and 2 book reports calls for a busy semester. There were no tests, but the amount of work was absolutely too much.
If you don't want to write 30 papers I would not recommend taking this class. 2 of the 30 papers are 6 page book reports. He doesn't even grade some of the papers. He would lose homework often and when I called him out on it he got really mad. Would not recommend taking him.
He loves doing creative projects but he is not given a good explanation of what he wants from the projects. Sometimes his lectures are interesting and other times I find myself doing bored. He lectures every day in class. You have to do 12 chapter summaries and notes. Do them on time!! Easy class but he makes it difficult
I enjoyed Professor Alexander's Humanities class. He does long lectures and not so many visuals BUT his lectures are not boring. If you are not good at time management and organization then I wouldn't take his class and if you do not want to read don't take it either. I WOULD highly recommend him though.
Prof Alexander is amazing! You do a 500 work chapter summaries for 12 chapters, one chapter per week essentially. Also, twelve 500 work lecture summaries due after the lectures of your choosing. He gives no test, and no quizzes. He takes everyones opinions into a discussion. he even lets classes pick their own lectures some days.
This professor is among the best at PSC. I've taken him for Humanities and Ethics and I wish he taught more classes I needed. He loves questions and he touches so many controversial topics in Ethics to get you to think about society and yourself. Truly a eye opening experience being in his class.
Professor Alexander is actually a pretty cool guy. He talks about a bunch of subjects and gives you great material for his notes. There are a lot of assignments you have to do, but he gives you chances to improve your grade if necessary. He is open-minded and willing to work with you if you need help. Be respectful and he will be respectful, too.
David Alexander takes frequent smoke breaks, interrupting class. He tends to go back on his word, so if you take the class & he explains specific details that may affect your grade, go home & email him to verify what he said so you have it as proof. He's lectured before on a specific religion, & I later researched it & found that it does not exist
The guy is a super cool person, extremely intelligent. He gives awesome lectures, but every class is a lecture. Each week he requires a 2 page paper on what we discussed in class. He gives u the option between a textbook exam or a creative project for the final. Has two huge 6page book reports as well. Don't recommend if u want very little work.
Each week there are 500 word summaries due on what he lectures about. 2 six page book reports on books he chooses. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. The only test he gives is the final. Not hard to get an A in the class.
Theres no class discussion. He talks the entire time and is very hearing impaired, seems irriated when someone has something to say. Other than that ethics class is really easy, just write your summary in class as hes talking. Also hes hilarious sometimes.
Alexander is an intelligent man, but this class was so irrelevant. His lectures were just whatever he felt like talking about, and although he was educated in them, he often made mistakes in what he said. His final is completely off topic to the class, every week there is a 500 word class summary due, and two 6 pages book reports.
Terrible do not take him if you do not have to. Does not go over important material, unclear grading, and you do not know your grade until the end of the course. Two 6 page book reports a semester any class you take.
Alexander has some fantastic lectures, but sometimes can be offensive. He is an easy A. There are two book reports and you can opt out of the final by doing his creative projects. If you do the final you are allowed a cheat sheet. You also have to write 500 words about one of his lectures each week. No other tests. He grades pretty simple.
There is A LOT of homework. At least one 500 word paper on a lecture each week, but you can turn in two or three in at the same time. You need at least 12 lecture reviews. Tons of extra credit. 2 book reports, can pass with only doing 1. Tons of extra credit. Creative final or normal. Normal final is random, don't expect much. Lecture varies daily.
His final is literally nothing like the class, if you like writing papers and professors not showing up to class then take him.
He's a great professor with a good heart!
Not even sure how these lectures are relevant to humanities. Weve apparently been having the same discussions as his religious art class which is not what Im interested in. Really good at shaming his students if we dont answer the way he wants us to but then shames if we dont participate.
I took this prof for humanities and ethics because of the easy A. If you enjoy writing rather than quizzes and tests this is the class for you. His lectures never make sense and are pointless but you need to go for the homework assignment. Two book reports, 12 500 word class notes, and an optional multiple choice final OR 12 out of class projects.
Just dont. Thats all I have to say. If your opinion varies his in anyway then youre automatically dumb but he still expects you to participate and answer his questions. So over this guy and I wish I could ACTUALLY report him.
Alexander was awesome for Humanities, I'm taking him next sem for Ethics. He has a different lecture each class and relates a lot of things to your life. I enjoyed listening to him, and it's so easy to get an A. Textbook is not necessary UNLESS you opt to take the written final rather than do the out of class experiences. I recommend him to all!
Mr. Alexandar is a crazy dude. His classes are extremely lecture-heavy. However, the class was a real easy A. The textbook was used for a cheat sheet in the final but you can access it in the library so don't waste your money. Other than that, we didn't crack open or acknowledge the book the whole class. Definitely take this during the summer!
Hes really laid back. The class is mostly small one paragraph papers but he doesnt grade hard. His class is all lecture but hes hilarious and the stuff he talks about is really interesting. class is not mandatory but you need to show up about half the time in order to get the info about papers. I loved this class and overall it wasn't a hard.
If you're ready to hear a professor ramble and have no coherent lecture path, you're bound to enjoy this professor. While he seems to be knowledgeable in his subject, he tends to dumb down the content and give examples that don't make any sense. I'm not sure if he does this deliberately or not. Also, he grades your class notes and attendance.
Prof Alexander is a pretty cool guy. If you go to PSC, he's a lot like Derry in Econ. He tells you on the first day what is expected of you, and everything that he grades on, (12 notes, 2 book reports, and 12 extra writings or final). The content is great, he tracks attendance but doesn't seem to effect unless you don't do your work. DONT BUY BOOK!
The class is not hard just tedious. There are a lot of writing assignments, 12 class summary papers, 2 book reports and a final exam. He is pretty senile but kinda funny. An easy professor but not the best
Be prepared to write in this class! 12 class discussion papers and 2 six page book reports. Also if you take this class wait to buy the textbook you will only use it if you decide to take the final instead of the other assignment he offers. As long as you do the work and attend class you will do just fine!
Professor Alexander is amazing! He is very laid back and talks through out the whole class. 12 papers in total are submitted but it is based on what your thoughts are from the discussions in class. They are only 500 words, really not hard i promise. Midterm and final are research papers, really good class.
He is a laid back great professor. His classes need 12 papers on class discussions only 500 words and 2 book reports which are not hard at all. Don't buy the book, listen to the option he gives you about the final. Really an easy class if you finish the papers. He is not a tough grader but he does read the papers. SUPER GREAT!
Fun and entertaining no ending exam if you do all the optional assignments
Class lectures are everyday and kind of all over the place. One day your talking out pop stars, next you're talking about ancient greece. Every week, a 500 word page "paper" is due. All i did was type everything he said in class on my phone until i got to 500 words. Book reports were pretty hard and time consuming. Final didn't make much sense.
Your grade in this class is entirely determined by how you do on the papers that are assigned and is a lot of writing. Overall the course was fine but I would not take him again as there is so much writing.
Great professional
He only had 4 assignments up for grading but 2 are split into 6 small "writings" and the other 2 are book reviews. The book reviews were a bit difficult but the 6 small writings were not, however, if you put in enough work you can finish the class early and easily pass this class. It is not difficult and his grading is not harsh. NO FINALS!
You have to be able to pay attention, but if you can, you will pass. His daily quizzes were based entirely on his lectures, so I mean it when I say that you just have to listen to him. The exams were a cumulative set of the same quiz questions; just skim the textbook for review. Papers were straightforward and easy. Felt like I learned, good class.
Wonderful Teacher, best Professor I ever had had 4 assignments two book reviews and two creative projects work hard and you'll do great i did I got an A highly recommend David Alexander for Ethics!!!
He will go on and on about "the good ol days" yet when it came to grading papers my papers where good.(I would know I got an A on them in other classes I took) but he made no sense to what he was grading and he changed his mind to many times on how many words the essays had to be.
There were only 4 assignments the entire semester; they werent hard assignments just a bit lengthy but it is so worth it. 2 were creative projects the other 2 were book reviews, I got 100s on all of them. His lectures were pretty cool too, if I could I would definitely get him as a professor again.
I am not a fan of humanities classes in general, so I did feel like my time was wasted in this class. That said, I cannot blame Professor Alexander for the field he teaches. His lectures are very interesting and entertaining. He is a very gracious grader and not strict on attendance, but attend because it is graded. Homework is time-consuming.
I am not a fan of humanities classes in general, but ethics was fascinating thanks to the lectures. His lectures are very interesting and entertaining. He is a very gracious grader and not strict on attendance, but attend because it is graded. Homework is time-consuming.
he is absolutely not good at all. worst professor ever. so odd and is way too opinionated like we care at all. smells way too much like cigarettes and has a starring problem. really weirded out.
He's great!
Amazing professor! Very knowledgeable information was provided and we also had enjoyable activities.
Professor Alexander's class was entertaining and fun. That being said, I suggest that students should participate in class. Also, there were very few assignments. They were heavily writing based, I'm pretty sure all-in-all it was a few thousand words. Easy class, pay attention, and keep up with the assignments, and you'll make an A! Good luck!
Professor Alexander's class was an interesting blend of topics, from pop culture to ancient history. While the weekly papers were lengthy, unstuck study was a lifesaver for efficiently completing the writing assignments. Attend class, take notes, and you'll do well in this engaging humanities course.
I waited 30 minutes for him to show up on the 1st day and then walked out to drop it because I heard a couple students talk about how he is late consistently. I dropped the class before ever meeting him. I did not think a teacher who's late all the time is right for me.
I took PHI2600 in Spring 2024 (I just found this website) and it was definitely a class. Man does come off as crazy and opinionated at times and will definitely be late some days but overall it's not that difficult of a course. Attendece is part of the grade. His lectures were actually funny sometimes and once I fell asleep in the front row 10/10
He was great. Loved his lectures. Only things I didnt care much for were that he was usually late to class and the format of the assignments which were pretty much like 4 papers due at once. But other than that, I would highly recommend.
