In a 200+ student class, he knows most of them by name.
Best teacher in Science dept, really cares about his students, supernice guy!

Made the course material a piece of cake...Hard Tests
clearly knows the information and displays it well. No surprises, he will tell you what you need to know. Has review sessions constantly. Excellent teacher.

made learning chemistry, my least favorite subject, a blast
you can realize the real meaning of "TEACHING" in this guy. Although I think he doesn't make his tests hard enough.
One of the best professor in VCU
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Made very difficult subjects much easier.
awesome teacher ... one of the best @ vcu
Good teacher, homework takes a little while to do but he posts the solutions beofre they are due.
koool...
Very good teacher, Physics was not one of my best subjects, but he helped me understand it better than I would have with other teachers. I look forward to taking Circuits with him.
Dr. Ameen is a great guy. Not only does he genuinely enjoy his students, he truly cares about teaching. Very helpful, and knows his stuff. Also takes the time to learn all his students by name, before you even talk to him!
Very helpful and understanding
I love Dr. Ameen. He is one of my favorite teachers at VCU. He loves to teach and makes class VERY interesting (LOTS of demos). His quizzes are kinda tough. Tests aren't bad. You learn so much! Amazing...amazing! Dr. Ameen is wonderful!
Dr. Ameen is great--willing to go to any length to help you out. If you don't understand something he's willing to sit with you every day after class and just teach the material to you one-on-one. He's hands-down one of the best professors at VCU.
One of the best professors I've ever had!!
good teacher
Dr. Ameen is the nicest, most informative prof I've ever had. He never makes you feel dumb for asking him questions, to the contrary, he loves it when you show interest in his class and he does his best to make you understand the material. He;s great!
great teacher!! prepares VERY thoroughly for his lectures and courses. his physics I class was hard but I worked hard and I used the office hours to my advantage
You've got to be kidding me.
DR. Ameen is one of the best teachers at VCU HANDS DONE
DR. AMEEN IS THE GREATEST TEACHER OF THE UNIVERSE... EVERYTHING IS CLEAR AND EASY IN HIS CLASS>>> TAKE HIM.. FOR REAL
Dr. Ameen is one of the sweetest, most caring profs I've ever had. He is always willing to work with you to ensure you understand the material. He is very smart and can relate things on a student's level.
He was very professional and clear when teaching. Whenever we had a question he would try his best to answer it. He always wanted to hear our opinions :)
Outstanding Professor. Cares more about the students and how much they learn than any other professor at this university. Is supportive of you even after you are through with his course. Never had a professor learn everyone's name in such a large class in such a short amount of time. The Best!!
Dr. Ameen is a great teacher. He is dedicated to his studentsm which is evident in him being at school at the crack of dawn and leaving around 7 PM. Love the effort he took to learn everybody's names. He treats us like we are a person and not a number, which is nice in such a large class. He rocks!!
Cares about students. Explains things well. Easy quizzes and tests, but you have to know the information
Dr. Ameen is one of the best teachers at VCU. From the large lecture (~200 students) he knows everyones name and still knows my name even though i took his class three years ago. Study the quiz info because the tests are very similar.
Very awsome helpful teacher. Recommend taking physics with him.
Great Professor. Very helpful. Can take the most difficult class in the world and turn make it easy. Just pay attention and study the notes and you will ace his class. Also took Phys 207 & 208
Simply put ... an amazing professor.
Dr. Ameen is the best professor ever! He's an excellent teacher and downright awesome :)
Straight up one of the best Professor at this university. Really cares about the students. Its amazing that he can memorize names and faces of such a gigantic class. Bottom Line: Best Professor if you want to learn ANYthing. TOO BAD he doesnt teach Electric Circuits b/c of SCREWED UP VIRGINIA LAWS.
Dr. Ameen is a great introductory physics course teacher. Whether you're in it to get some understanding or just to learn how to do the problem, Dr. Ameen wil teach you both without an overwhelming amount of the other.
Great professor!
Perhaps the best professor I have ever had. He makes physics easy. I understand! :-)
Dr. Ameen has been the best professor I have had since coming to VCU. He really cares about his students and does everything in his power to help you. Took the class almost a year ago and he still knows who I am! Just a SWEET SWEET man!! HIGHLY Recommended!
Makes an tough subject into an easy one. Quizzes are lil bit tough, but the tests are just like past quizzes. Lab and HW is pretty much a free 100%. Doesnt pull any tricks. Very very good guy. He never gets smart with ppl, even if they have a dumb question. Cares about his students dearly.
He is the most awesome professor i have ever had. You will leave the class feeling like a genius
He's a brillant man who loves to teach and actually knows what he is talking about. His class can be tough if you get behind, but he will go the extra mile just to make sure you understand.
Dr. Ameen is honestly the best professor anyone can ask for. He made something as annoying as Circuits, easy to do. For Phys 208, the study sessions he has on Fridays at 5 are very helpful, they guarantee an A on quizzes and tests. He pretty much tells you what you need to know in there. For EGRE 206, just do the homework and you'll do well.

BEST, all one needs to say
great phys teacher, class was difficult.
He uplifted my spirits when I had nothing left inside me to give.

he's a great man!!!!
Awesome guy for both Physics and Circuits, very punctual and tries to make the class as easy a it possibly can.
Excellent teacher! You can tell that teaching is truly his passion. He memorizes all 200+ students' names before the first day of class. His courses are also very structured. And although they require a lot of effort, the work is well spread out throughout the semester. Dr. Ameen is my hero.
Great guy! Very structured class. If you keep up with all your work you will succeed.
You couldn't ask for a better professor and person! Thank you Dr. Ameen!
Not only an exceptional professor, but a wonderful human being, as well. Everyone at VCU should be so lucky as to have the experience of working with him. He learns all his students names and which makes everything more personal and you realize he really does want everyone to do well. This is very rare in a college professor. LOVE LOVE LOVE him!
Wow, a profound inpact in the way I view professors, what-a-guy! Though his courses were demanding, I was able to get the most out of everything he taught!
Just "wow". I mean "wow". No complaints. He's an awesome professor. Everything is clear. Gives you all the necessary knowledge, nothing more, nothing less. Great class.
Amazing guy. Wonderful.. looks out for you as much as he can! Simply amazing
In terms of describing Dr. Ameen's character, everyone is on the ball- he's a great guy, cares about his students, and presents difficult material in a way that even a second grader could understand. HOWEVER, YOU WILL NOT RETAIN ANYTHING that he will teach you in 206/208. He's good for an A on your transcript, but not good for the MCATS.
Soft spoken, laid back, really encourages questions. Homework answers given so you can just copy but if you want to pass class HAVE to understand. Cumulative final! WAY too much information to cover in a few months. Prepare to feel lost as he rushes through material each class. Most learning will happen in voluntary study session..if you have time.
Dr. Ameen was one of the first teachers I had at VCU, and I have yet to find a better one. I took his PHYS 207 & 208 classes freshman year and now 4 years later he will still stop and chat with me on the street. He remembers EVERY STUDENT he has ever had and cares about them. Work your class schedule around taking this man's class.
GREAT TEACHER! Knows everyone by name and is such a nice human being. Very structured class. Go to review sessions--they help A LOT! Material is difficult but he does teach you everything you need to know for quizzes/tests. He is one of the best teachers at VCU and one of the most pleasant people I ever had a chance to know.
BEST TEACHER AT VCU!!!
Dr. Ameen is a great professor. His notes are superb, he answers all the questions, and is a very kind person. He learns everyone's names. Made me feel really badly that I wasn't completely awake for his morning recitations or even miss one or two... Tests are not too hard, but there are quizes every week
I took one of Dr. Ameen's courses the summer after my first year at the University of Virginia as a then pre-med student. When I thought that pre-med had me beat, along came a teacher who made it his mission to make sure I understood the material as well as made himself very available. He didn't spoil us but challenged us with encouragement!
Very good teacher... At times difficult material.. but this teacher will do everything in his power so u understand.
Very caring teacher and always willing to help. His classes are a lot of work but the tests and the quizzes come straight from the hw problems. I would definately recommend Dr. Ameen!
Really breaks down the material so students who don't know what the heck is going on in the material can do well. The material was awful - electromagnetism and lots of other horrendous things - but Dr. Ameen made it probably easier than it should have been. Lectures are optional, textbook not necessary.
One of the best classes I've taken at VCU. I'm not a fan at all of the physics of fields, or physics at all, but he was able to make it comprehensible and interesting. If you're doing the HW, and looking the notes enough, it's an easy A, though it is a lot of work and definitely requires 5+ conservative hours a week outside of class doing work.
The Best prof VCU can ever find!!!!!
Great professor for Phys 208 & Egre 206. Great guy, answers any and all questions. Remember, if you have a question, just ask. =) peace
Awesome teacher. Demands respect and attention. Always willing to help after-hours, as long as you come prepared. Definitely a fantastic person to look up to!
Dr. Ameen is a great guy! He is smart and always willing to help. Don't talk in class or goof off. He'll memorize your name after the 1st week of class. He goes fast at times so hold on to your seat, and be prepared to work. The work load is only 2nd to dynamics.
Excellent professor! Really wants to help you learn. As long as you do the work (yes, do the work) you will do fine in the class. It makes me wish I had him for PHYS 208 :( Would be best if he taught all my classes.
Dr. Ameen has easily been my favorite professor ever... And more than that he's simply just a wonderful person... He's a great teacher but truly cares about the students and wants them to learn... I would trust him completely; he's just a very wholesome and caring individual... Always ready to lend a helping hand to a student in need....
I loved this class. Easy A with little work. Labs are guarantee A's. Tests are just the quiz problems again, and quizzes are just homework problems again. So everything is very self explanatory and straightforward. Go to class since then you won't need to study at all.
Really great teacher overall. While the material is challenging, he teaches very well and spells everything out for you. Make sure to complete and study the the hw and notes and you should do good in his class.
I agree with all the comments. He is a really great teacher, he is very organized. you will always know what is on every quiz and test, because it is all from the homework, and the homework is just copying. Its an easy A.
You take notes in a fill-in-the-blank workbook which feels a little like elementary school. Good teacher, easy homeworks that will boost your grade. Labs are graded ridiculously easily. Study for the quizzes, study for the tests and you'll be ok.
This incredibly hard class sucks. His notes are gibberish; he found one symbol to represent half the alphabet. Best way to succeed is to forget about learning the material, and instead, copy the homework, memorize lon capa, and find a nice friend who has taken this class and borrow all of their old quizzes/tests. Old tests are necessary to pass! :(
Those who say he's good, what are you on? He's terrible. He makes up garbage as explanations and requires you to follow the most convoluted, complicated steps to solve simple problems. It's near impossible to actually learn anything because the class consists of filling in blanks. Worst professor ever.
If you enjoy filling in the blanks and listening to George Bush's Voice in a dark classroom, as well as taking quizzes every week that are pretty much impossible to learn other than to just memorize the homework and spit it back out on paper, then he's just for you!
Absolutely, no exaggeration, the worst professor/teacher I have ever had in my entire life. No exceptions. He doesn't know anything except the equations. He doesn't care if you know anything except how to solve the problems in a precise yet counterintuitive order. The only thing I learned in that class is how much I hated that class. Take 202.
Worst professor I have ever had. Notes are the equivalent of copying my friend's homework in high school. Terrible handwriting makes the notes difficult to understand. Doesn't upload a thing onto blackboard to help you study. SI sessions may be the only thing to help you get through this class.
He is the worst teacher possible. I have not learned one bit in his class. He does not give partial credit, he freaks out if you write something slightly off. Like if you say A - B = 0, instead of B - A = 0...you get full points off. Its fill in the blank, so if in real life you are given a circuit, it would be impossible to solve because of
does not teach well doesn't explain thing well. Fill in the blank notes suck. There is only one way to solve anything and there is no partial credit. easy homework. I learned more in the SI sessions than i did in the actual class.
Professor Ameen is not a very goodteacher at all. He does not help at all, his notes are useless. The only way to pass is memorization. You dont learn anything
How does he expect us to learn with useless, fill-in-the-blank notes and his lecture is, "Now this is how you find the thevenin equi... HEY! I ask that you stop talking while I'm talking. You need to learn to respect others' rights to an education. Learning respect is more important than learning circuits. I'm going to wait now until you finish."
This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. He is the worst teacher I have had yet. His notes are hard to read, everything is taught from a workbook, and having old tests and quizzes is a must!
Simple algebraic mistakes on the first few sections could get you in trouble and cause you to fail an exam. HA - i twice i expected A's on 2 exams and ended up with C's and D's because of carried mistakes. If we aren't allowed to use calculators, then at least give us partial credit.
I learned NOTHING. He is the worst! I was stuck taking him for two courses. Worst physics/egre professor. He is so structured in how he teaches, but offers very little help outside of his strict way to solve circuits. I heard he was better several years ago...I would avoid him at all costs.
It does not really matter if you learn or not (you probably wont). His quizzes and exams follow EXACTLY the way he teaches. Just memorize(A LOT OF MEMORIZATION) concepts and procedures for his problems and you will get an A. He is helpful in person but you will find your better off just memorizing rather than trying to understand the material
Dr. Ameen is awesome. In 208 it is such a big class that it is pretty impossible to really see that he is a great teacher. After taking 450 though, I really like Dr. Ameen. He is very willing to help students and a really friendly person. If you struggle in his class....go to him for help, it will make a world of difference.
Holy crap, one of the worst prof's at VCU. He doesn't actually teach the concepts. He copies notes that you're required to regurgitate word for word about extremely abstract material on a very illegible overhead projector. Too bad he's the only PHYS 208 prof right now...
Ameen is absolutely the worst professor I have ever had in my life. The entire class is a gigantic "mad-lib". You fill in blanks, and he doesn't explain anything. Expect to go through about 7 pages of notes per class, and you might understand one page. His quizzes are ridiculous, and he is absolutely useless!

Dr. Ameen seems to really care about his students, however his teaching style is simply fill in the blank in a lecture guide, and he fails to explain things well enough to allow students to grasp the concepts. His quizzes are conceptual and theoretical, rarely using actual numbers in the calculations. Not a good choice if you need a good grade.
Went to class the first day, never bothered to go back again. Seems like a nice guy, but I never bothered to go to him for assistance. Just memorize the homeworks and old quizzes (though VERY time consuming), and you will do fine. It's a bummer he will not be teaching next semester.
he's a nice guy, but the class is really hard
hes a great teacher and a really nice guy. his class is hard until you catch on to his pattern and teaching methods. hw isnt collected or graded but doing them is the sure way to an A in that class. if u have him for ur lab ta ur guaranteed 100 for ur lab portion and hes really helpful. great guy
You are the best... AROUND. Dr. Ameen is simply the best physics professor. He is clear and to the point. Plus, he provides you with all the previous quizzes and tests. Make sure that you show all your work!
Very helpful in recitation, and is very good at answering questions and explaining things. And he learns everyone's names too. Very very nice guy, and a helpful professor. If I were to take another physics course, I would definitely take one with Dr. Ameen
After a semester with this guy, I'm 90% sure that he's a genius. He memorizes everyone's name within the first two weeks of class, is never too busy to talk (whether it be about physics or basketball), and takes you through the history of physics like it's a story. Take him if you have any interest in higher level physics, you won't regret it.
Had him for physics 208 couple years back, have him for physics 320 now (have no other choice). Same old Ameen, lot of unnecessary work, just memorize old quizzes and exams will get you an A. Worst thing now is that he grades your attendance by asking you questions on the spot in class. If you got it wrong, he takes points off your participation.
One of the best, if not the best, teachers I have ever had.
