Professor Andersson is a great teacher. I knew a lot about Rel DB's prior to starting the class, but he forced me to learn to write the perfect paper! He is online constantly, grades assignments immediately, and fairly and is very helpful with questions. Even after the class he sends very important and useful links. Great guy and teacher. A+++++

Prof. Anderson did well in delivering the material in the course. He gave credit where credit was due. He also gave good info on jobs in the IA field.

GREAT PROFESSOR! IF you do you work, you will do great! He TOTALLY goes above and BEYOND for his students! If anyone has a problem, you did not try or e-mail him. I sucked at the class work, but he helped me through it! I was totally stressed and had the worst semester ever, & Blanchard was the only Prof I had that seemed to really care!

He is knowledgeable of the subject but be warned; as mentioned in other reviews he does have his own idea of how the school should grade, I just finished a lengthy appeals process because he changed my B to a F due to some work I didn?t submit. Luckily AMU agreed with me and restored my B. Just watch out for this guy.

Let's see...Dr. Anderson is probably one of the more intelligent professors at AMU. As a teacher, however, yikes! I am always an A student.. with the occasional B... but I will admit I had to work more in his class than I usually do - it's a 16 week class crammed into a 8 week class. Others do better though. Take this class.. I do suggest it!

The class is a bit intimidating at first. It quickly warms up, he tells you EXACTLY what to do to pass. Do the weekly assignments, use the APA format and any idiot can get a good grade. He is extremely educated and knows the subject matter.

The first class I've had where the instructor did not simply copy quiz questions from each chapter for the quizzes - we had to go out and find the information. Not enough teachers like this.

I had an instructor that would repeatedly tell me that I needed to review the APA guidelines, but would not tell me specifically what was wrong. Dr. Andersson explained the areas that I needed to focus on and also provided the link to resources I could go to so that I could research the APA guidelines.

First instructor to tell me about hanging indents and fonts. A quick google search and now I know how to make them :) Makes you wonder what the others are looking at.

This was my favorite course that I have taken to date. I personally think that the course was well designed and all objectives of the course were met.

This course has provided me with information and tools that I can utilize now and well into the future. This course is an important part of our education, because we live in a world where technology is a huge part of our everyday life.

The learning experience provided was a positive one for me. I felt that this class would be a little over my head since my background in IT only consisted of networking and a few years in security. By the 6th week of the course I was able to install Snort on the CENTOS image.

The concepts learned in this course will help me greatly in my responsibilities as a network auditor. Understanding the tools and tactics used by an attacker helps to identify suspicious transactions or packets. The course provided a great deal of understanding of what network monitoring is and went beyond just intrusion detection.

This has not been a course where only minimum requirements will give you a desired grade.

Overall I found this course very enlightening. The vocabulary alone will help.

Overall experience during this course was good. I was able to grasp a vast amount of knowledge in what appeared to be a very fast eight weeks.

The absolute best online professor to date. Grading was done very quickly, and there was always great feedback given on assignments. You can tell Dr. Andersson is passionate about what he does, and actually cares about the online classes he teaches. If I can have him again, I wouldn't hesitate.

This was a very good course that covered a wide swath of different Network Security Monitoring. I really like how the book focuses on open source tools, this allows one to follow along at home in their own test lab with out having to shell thousands of dollars.

The class provided some excellent examples of how individuals are exploited and security breached. The requirement to find out what information is on the Internet on yourself was a surprise to many of us.

I really liked the questions that the instructor came up with. He also included several optional/extra credit discussion forums that were really interesting. Well "Interesting" may be a bit off, but this is my major. In the end I enjoyed the class.

The most thought-provoking class I have taken so far in my graduate certificate course in Information Security Management.

Each week the more I learned the more I realized that I did not know. For example, when I studied the NSM tools and tried my hand at using them, I realized my UNIX knowledge was nonexistent. I now have two computers running platforms that are conducive to the NSM tools.

The material was an eye-opener. The weekly discussion forums are something that I actually looked forward to participating it.

Dr. Andersson is a professional with an impressive list of credentials. I learned a great deal. You will need to work, but as long as you adhere to guidelines & put forth real effort, grades are very fair. I wouldn't hesitate to take another of his classes! Participates and asks provoking questions in forums. 1 complaint 2005 book is getting old.

This course increased my knowledge of the intrusion detection process in general and in the Network Security Monitoring (NSM) approach in particular.

He went out of his way to provide excellent career specific advise. Better than most APUS professors. Did not deduct points for petty reasons, clear and fair grading.

Each assignment and forum discussion was directly related to the week's reading. I accidentally uploaded a wrong file, instead of giving me a zero, he allowed a follow-up submission. Professor David Andersson is a hidden gem amongst professors. He worked with our online class week in and week out, taking the time to reply to almost every single forum post. His feedback for all assignments were constructive and unique. One could tell that he really took the time to review one's assignments. I would take another class with him.

Very good professor, For the final project I had some issues likely with my computer's security settings and could not complete the lab as assigned. After about a million hours of trouble shooting and trying to find a solution I managed to find an alternative method to complete the lab and Dr. Andersson was very understanding.

With an online course, if you do not have that you do not have anything .He did not respond to a question with a question or with an elliptical answer you have to put on a milk cartoon to find. I am a very binary and literal thinker and I understood him.

Professor is good, knowledgeable, and quick with grading and posts. I believe I've taken two courses with this professor and have never had a problem with weird or unreasonable grading criteria. Do the work, review your work, and do it on time and you should pass.

Dr. Andersson is extremely knowledgeable - He doesn't just provide feedback, he READ the papers including your punctuations, and provide effective feedback. This professor is readily accessible and grades super fast. Don't hesitate to register for his classes, you will learn a lot.

The course he taught was really outdated, but he did a good job following up with feedback and providing useful insights. Many topics had specific criteria (for instance: must be 2 pages long) but when I turned in 2 pages of assignment, he would make comments like "this is too long" or whatever. Not a huge deal, just weird. Good instructor.

This class was very informative and interesting class. Doctor Anderson has an interesting writing style with emoji which makes for a great class. Just make sure your thoughts and statements / positions are written correctly because he will poke holes in them if they are not.

He also calls people out for poor grammar and improper usage of words and their meaning. I don't know if grades were affected. He provides good insight into each week. Makes you think.

I completed Prof Andersson's ISSC641 course in Spring of 2020. He was fair, attentive, responsive, graded assignments in a timely manner, and resourceful. You will have to do the work (i.e. complete readings, submit assignments on time). He does not issue "busy work" masked as legitimate assignments, and he offers extra credit occasionally.

Very solid professor. Firm but provides clear guidance and ways to success. For this class, we had a weekly paper for the first six weeks, weekly discussions and a final paper. Parts of the final paper was due throughout the class too. Its a lot but if youre a good writer, its nothing too difficult. I would take a class from him again.

It's rare that a professor will grade papers and assignments so quickly, so that was a great help when trying to get ahead with some work. A little more feedback would be good, but that may differ between subjects.

Dr. Andersson class is great. There is a lot of assignments but as long as you put a little effort and follow the instructions you will be fine. Make sure your papers and discussion post are proper formatted or you will lose points. Other than that great class and very flexible. He will help you if you need more time.

I took ISSC641 & ISSC642 with Dr. Andersson, and I would do it again. He holds students to the master's level of expectations in coursework and communications. If you read and understand the material, follow the instructions exactly, and demonstrate your understanding in a well-thought out manner, you will pass with an A.

Fair but stern grading. Do the work, ensure your sources are properly cited and you will earn your grade accordingly.

Write 150 -200 words for 4 of your peers, not two peers, because that's the minimum. "Do not come into this course doing the minimum; give maximum effort!!!! Overall he is very responsive. Dr. Andersson is highly flexible, so please let him know your citation.
