He makes the workings of government interesting to learn. It's not a "softball" class, but not hard either. We got out early 2/3rds of the time, but still covered what we needed to. Perfect guy and class to take at same time as History 112, the two classes back each other up and make each easier.

TAKE HIS CLASS. This guy is a really cool laid back guy. His tests are easy if you study, he gives you the essay question in advance! we were let out really early every class. The time flew by. I liked how it was easy and i still learned something. No homework and an easy essay on the legalization of marijuana.

This teacher was not easy but made the class fun. He let us watch videos, do extra credit and kept the assignments real. If history is not your thing this is the professor for you. I am actively voting and love it.

Attend class and take good notes. Your notes will come in handy for the essay portion of the exams. Be sure to study for the multiple choice quizzes because that info will help you on the essay portion of the exams as well. He is a cool instructor and not bad on the eyes as well depending on what your taste is. Have fun!

He was really enthusiastic and fun teacher. A pretty interesting guy when you start asking him about all his other jobs. Doesn't expect you to memorize dates just to think about your government. His lectures were captivating, humorous, and thorough. Two tests which were reviewed extensively beforehand, one essay, and extra credit. I couldn't afford a textbook, but I recommend getting one if you can, because some of his questions(although not many) came from the text.

the lectures are very important so i reccomend you show up to class. he is a very nice teacher and will spend the extra time to help you. it was really an insightful class that helped me better understand the technicalities of US government. he really wants his students to understand the government and think for themselves.

Andrus is a fun guy. He really tries to get the class into the lectures. His lectures however are very easy to drift out of. His tests are kind of challenging seeing as they don't really relate to the lectures...I thought it was the subject that I hated, but he got a sub when he was absent and that guy was so funny and explained everything so well!

Fantastic teacher. Took his PoliSci 150 over the summer. The only problem was that the course was too short (5 week session) and I wanted it to continue. Prof Andrus is an excellent communicator who obviously loves his subject matter and imparts information clearly. He replies to texts and email immediately and makes you love the class.

This teacher made me LOVE polysci. I used to hate it, but his passion for it just made me see that I can take an interest in politics without falling asleep. Although the class was AMAZINGLY interesting, it was SO hard fo me to pay attention, because he is like the hottest teacher/older man I have EVER seen. No joke.

great guy. already a politics buff but did learn a lot more. didn't use the book at all other than some studying if i was unsure about something. 3 quizes (lowest gets dropped), 1 midterm, 1 final, couple easy group class assignments, and an analytical paper (i don't suggest procrastinating on that) then there is xtra credit for 3% pts -- TAKE HIM!

Take him, he was seriously one of the professors that changed my world. A little flaky sometimes, but you can use that to your benefit. If you put in the interest needed for the class, you'll realize that he is a truly inspired lecturer and instructor. I've taken 2 of his classes, both had 3 quizzes but he drops the lowest, 2 tests and a paper.

I took him over winter. Best/worst decision. It is a lot of information to learn in 5 week, 3 hour long classes. Although there is a lot of information, he explained it well. I took Prof. Andrus this past winter. He was great! It was all online and he made it easy to follow. The only complaint that I have is that it was quite a bit of work. There was a couple chapters worth of information due every couple days. However, it was a winter class so I wasn't entirely surprised. Tests are straightforward.

Class is easy if you do the work. Lots of reading, quizzes after reading assignments but ample time. 40 questions in 2 hours. all test are multiple choice and you can redo same quiz except for mid-term and final. two op-ed essays.

Took the 5wk winter session course. Pretty easy. Discussion board and hw assignments are mostly completion grades, tests are pretty easy and test questions can be found in the textbook. Gives a 10-page paper due at the end of the course but for some reason didn't even incorporate that assignment into my grade. Helpful when you ask him questions.

Took it during winter intersession online. Material was well organized and he managed to cover key material in the short time. With that said, the workload was fairly heavy (to be expected for a short term class). Expect chapter assignments due every couple days, a few small research projects, and a 10 page research paper due at the end .

I took PoliSci 150 online with Professor Andrus. His class is extremely organized and he provides amazing lectures. As long as you do the reading and keep up with the assignments an A is reasonable. There is a big essay at the end but it is fun.

Andrus is a great professor who has a passion for Political Science! I recommend this teacher because he is very clear in his grades. Assignments are due every other day. His class consists of many discussions, two major tests (75 questions), and one opinion editorial essay. Overall, prepare for alot of work, but it is worth it for a 5 week class.

I had the best learning experience in his class. He is the nicest most laid back teacher I've ever had. There's no tedious homework and if you listen and are actually interested in the material it's easy. A lot of people seemed to struggle and complain, but I ended with a 98%. 1st online class I ever took at PCC &was not as hard as I thought it would be,He does Take forever to grade, but as long as you do the work u shudnt have a problem getting an A. He has the soft chalk lesson which can be retaken unlimited times for points weekly. exam questions were easy to find the answer for. The assignments can be time consuming

I'm really not one to like Political Science; however, Professor Andrus makes class interesting. He's is really heavy on lecture (all we do in class), but it's not boring. He gives you many opportunities for extra credit. He tells you what he want, in terms of turning stuff in. He is very caring for education. I would definitely take him again.

Really good teacher. You will probably like him and learn a lot in his class. That said, he does grade pretty harshly and 50% of your total class grade will come down to the last week of class between your final and your term paper, so slacking off isn't an option.

this class was definitely not easy, but it was manageable. your grade was based off of 3 quizzes (drops lowest of the 3), midterm, final, 10 pts of in class participation (usually answering a couple questions on the reading/lecture), and term paper. the class is out of 100 points, so its super important to stay on top of everything.

Took his political science 250 class that was 8 weeks. Lots of reading and lectures were 3 hours, but hes a fantastic teacher and it was relatively easy if you study and know the material. One of my favorite professors Ive ever had and certainly will take his IR class.

I hate politics in every way so I was dreading this class but he made it enjoyable! This was honestly the one class this past semester that I looked forward to going to. His lectures are thorough and very understandable. There is homework but its not too much to make you have to spend a whole day on it. He gives you all the tools to succeed.

I thought the class was boring :/ This could be because I enjoyed theory so much more. The exams were easy, the quizzes were easy. Honestly you should be able to get an A if you try a little. I disliked the group test on geography and noticed issues for the group paper that was 10 pgs long. Many people didnt do their part which caused struggles.

His class is very interesting. He has great stories, and he is really easy to follow and understand. He is more than willing to answer questions, and keeps you interested. There are a lot of quizzes and long papers, but he is pretty easy on grading the papers.

Professor Andrus is my favorite professor at COC, he has made learning political science more interesting. His lectures are never boring and are always interactive. COC is lucky to have him.

The second class I took with Professor Andrus. He is passionate about the topic, interested in seeing you succeed, and always willing to help. Failing the class is impossible if you do not reach out to him and ask for help.

One of my favorite professors ever!! On the first day in class you can tell he loves his job and loves to interact with his students. He rates quickly to any changes and ensures his students are aware of the class and the out side world as well. Join this class if you want to learn and have a laugh. You will not regret joining his class!

Great professor and had a lot of fun discussions during class. I ended up dropping the course once we went online amid the covid crisis but I'm planning to take him again once we are back in person.

Took this class over summer. There are 3 modules due per week and they just have some reading, a few 2 question quizzes, and 25 question quiz. There are lots of discussion posts and a group paper due at the end (the paper's not that hard). A few times I turned in something late and it didn't hurt my grade. Has study guides for exams. Prof. Andrus is amazing! I was dreading PoliSci but he made this course so easy to get into and feel safe in. I feel so much more confident within politics now. Extremely supportive, always ready to listen and talk, gives great feedback, and really helps a person learn. Would totally take another class of his just for fun!

If you watch all the lectures and take notes, you will get an A on the midterm and final because he asks the same questions he gives you answers to! You can pass without the book. Class consists of discussion board, assignments, lecture quizzes and geography quizzes. There is a large paper at the end of semester that can be done with a group!

The quizzes are the easiest part. Group work is what a large majority of your grade relies upon. The little work like the learning quizzes was tedious but I actually enjoyed this class and learned a bit about our government. He is responsive to e-mails and gives great feedback on all assignments.

This is the second course I have taken with him, and I would take another if I could! His lectures and reading prepare you for the midterm and final and teach you so much! So take notes as go! There are lectures, quizzes, discussion boards and analysis sheets. There is also a group powerpoint and paper due towards the end of the semester.

Very kind and gentle in his demeanor. He gave great feedback and answered questions when I had them. 100% would take again.

Took political science 150 as a summer class and it was fairly easy. 3 group assignments in total and most other assignments were short discussions and quizzes. Quite a fair bit of reading but overall quite easy to understand

PoliSci 270 was my first polisci class and I was prepared to be overwhelmed with confusing concepts that required a heavy amount of outside reading, however, Prof Andrus explains concepts in a clear and concise manner. Truly cares for his students and gives great feedback. Lectures are engaging and memorable. Considering changing my major from Bio.

Great for an online class. A lot of group work, including discussions and a group paper. Tough grader on tests, especially the written sections, but gives clear and genuine feedback. He doesn't sugarcoat, if he says you did great, you genuinely impressed him. Study the content and apply outside knowledge and it should be a breeze.

Professors Andrus was one of the best professors I've had at COC. His lectures make it so easy to soak up all the info as he relates everything being taught to current events. You can tell he's truly passionate about what he does. I looked forward to class each week because I was learning so much! I'd recommend his class to everyone!

This class can be a mixed bag, but Professor Andrus is generally fair and responsive. The group projects can be tricky online, but the quizzes and readings are manageable. I found unstuckstudy really helpful for study prep alongside other resources.
