Techer is funny + very nice- helps when you need it-grades very toughly, but fair, pay attention and use effort and passing w/ A isn't hard.

He is a really good teacher. He is tough, but that only makes you a better. He made me a better writer and taught me a lot about grammar..

I like professor Anson alot. He is really funny and his humor is nicely sarcastic. But you have to know how to be with him. Highschool coolness won't do with him. Thank god!

Although, he is an older man, he is a brilliant professor. Confusing and difficult at first, but that is just his outside. He truly wants to help his students and he taught me how to write really good papers. I would recommend him to anyone.

As long as you apply yourself and do the work, his class can be considered easy. He definitely knows his stuff! I have known him to help students even after they complete his course. He is certainly one of MCC's jewels!

I thought he was an excellent teacher. I had a 4 hour class during the summer and he always let us go early. Has a very sarcastic humor and can be misunderstood at times. He really wants to understand the reason that you might write a particular piece and gives great comments back.

David Anson is an Excellent teacher. He challenges you, but not too much. How else are you supposed to learn unless you are challenged. I would recommend taking his class if you would like to be challenged and learn. Otherwise you will fail. If you keep up with the work you will do fine.

I miss professor anson! I wish every teacher was like him. He made people feel nervous in class because he randomly calls on people, but that is what made me actually learn something. if u say u dont know the answer, he doesn't get mad, & doesn't embarrass you, he tries 2 teach u. Good professor!

Do your homework, don't miss deadlines, and be there - in his case that's the key to success. I learned more than I would have expected in his class, and he was a boost of motivation to me. If you want to improve your skills and take learning seriously - go for him!

Professor Hanson is a great teacher. I was a very bad writer before taking his class. But being in his class taught me alot and I was able to write like I never thought I would be able to. He's challenging, but i'm very glad that I took his class. =o)

He is a great professor. he knows what he is talking about and if you ask for help, he will give it to you. He does say exactly what he thinks of students, but its a good thing if you are on his good side. He likes students who voice their opinions

This class is not an easy A, but all you have to do is listen to what he is saying and use the proper format for all the papers and you should be fine. He will challenge you but as long as you try you should wind up with at least a B. He comes off kind of mean, but is helpful to all who need it. There are A LOT of papers though.

Definetly made English skills a lot better than what they were. Very clear on what he wants you to do. I took him for 1101 and 1102, just use your previous papers as a guide to improve and you'll do great in his class. not to mention a funny man.

Great instructor!! Be sure to voice your opinions, he doesn't like it if you don't answer with a content. Even if you don't agree, tell him! Pay attention to all his grammar and English style corrections and you will learn a lot. Enjoy the readings!! (especially in 1102)

Outstanding instructor. One of the beast professor I have had at MCC. Classes are not easy; however, if doing all homework assignments and attending classes then there is no reason for failing. I strongly endorse him!

One of the best professor I have had at MCC. This is not an easy A class. Essential is to complete all reading assignments.

The hardest part was meeting the Gordon Rule in 6 weeks. Mr. Anson made sure that I ( and the Class) understood the first topic before moving on to the next. Would recommend any one to take his class, maybe not the summer class, but definately his class. Was the first English class I passed with higher than a D since eighth grade. Loved It.!!

Prof. Anson is an awesome teacher! He is seriously the best I've had at MCC in the 3 years that I've been going. You just have to do the work and you will get a good grade! I wish all teachers were like him! LOVE HIM! TAKE HIM! And the best thing is you actually learn in his class!

Professor Anson was extremely helpful. He picks favorites, but overall he is a great teacher. He doesn't move on unless the class has learned it. He is very clear, and makes class interesting. A lot of work, but not to difficult.

hahah I loveeeeeeeeeeee hiiimmmm is the best teacher ever! he was my first english teacher in Mcc and i came from Colombia, so i had really hard ESL issues, he isn't easy but if u follow his deadlines, u will rock. I RECOMEND HIM TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO LEARN.

he does occastionally pick favorites, but if you work hard and listen in class, you will become one of those favorites. he's a cool guy. willing to help you outside of class. Not an easy class filled with essays, but if you listen to his instruction, you'll be just fine :)

He makes sure that you know what is on his quizzes by going over the material several times. His grading is fair because he doesn't take points off your paper for little errors. He is funny and likes surfing and rock music. He lets you out a half hour early when there is nothing left to discuss. He remembers the name of his students too.

He's really funny and helpful. Unfortunately i had to withdraw from his class but i will be taking him again next semester. MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERY ESSAY and dont half ass the research paper or else you wont pass the class and if it's before the withdraw period he will withrdaw you because of the Gordon Rule.

Mr.Anson is really nice, funny, enthusiastic about his job. He takes the time to make sure everybody is on the same page. He helped me and i learned a lot from him. Im glad i took his class this year. Yes there are papers due every week. Its a lot of work but tests are easy. You only fail if you dont put forth any effort to try.

Anson was awesome in 1102 and creative writing. His focus on great lit writers enhances writing and that is an effective means to learning it. He has a no BS approach to teaching which I think a lot of MCC students struggle with but I appreciated. I went to college to get treated like a college student, not a HSer. Professor Anson was great! I was alittle unsure about him when class first began, but i'm so glad that i stayed in his class. You don't have any major tests, and the only quizes that you have are from the reading. Only had 2 major papers to write, and they were very easy. Exam is exactly like the review. I highly recommend him

Anson was a great professor. His in class discussions were enlightening (even when I didn't agree with him). Unfortunately he expects alot, but it all comes back to you with experience and insight. Just do all of your work and speak up. Remember you're in college to learn, not to get a better job.

I took professor Anson for 1101, 1102 and Creative Writing. He is probably one of the best at MCC and I hope to find more like him when I start at FSU in the Fall. His classes were challenging, but worth it.

Great professor. If you don't care about learning and only care about earning a quick degree for money then he's not for you. Also, don't take his class if you are easily offended and have no sense of humor. If you want to be one of those people who are fantastic at grammar and research papers then take him.

I have Prof. Anson for ENC 1101 and ENC 1102. Had I not moved to Tampa I would have taken him for creative writing. He his the best teacher I had to date. English is not my strong subject and he helped me every step of the way. Very intelligent individual and I would recommend him to anyone taking English at this school

One of the best professors I have ever had.The class is very hard if you are a procrastinator and/or do not come to class.There are a lot of papers due but if you keep with it he will give you the grade.I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM if the only reason your there is to get an easy grade.If you want to learn he's your man.

Great teacher, I look forward to taking him for 1102. As with the rest of the comments on this site if you are slacker, you better go to one of the laid back teachers. He truly wants you to learn and is willing to help you every step of the way if you are willing to help yourself. Summer classes can be quite difficult if you are a working stiff.

I read on this website before taking Anson as my teacher. I was basically forced to take his class because there were no other night classes available. He turned out to be an awesome teacher. He taught me a lot about the mechanics of writing. I'm taking ENC1102 and my teacher is absolutely impressed with how good my papers are.

A lot of the comments on here are from people who don't try. If you put forth the effort Anson will give you a good grade. Take the knowledge he teaches you into your writing and you'll do fine. Oh, and the final exam he'll bump you up if you're a few points off a higher grade. If you work a lot I wouldn't recommend taking him during the summer.

When i first started going to his 1101 class, I thought he was mean. But after the people dropped that werent doing the work he was nice and even funny. He knows his stuff and helps A LOT! I am currently taking him again from my 1102 class :) I'd reccomend him to anyone, and HAVE when asked :)

Without a doubt the best teacher I've had so far. He knows English but more important he knows how to teach it. If you want to learn he is the best, if you intend to skate by find a different professor. There is no bull do the work and he'll do everything possible to get you though. I've got to be completely honest. I absolutely LOVE Anson and will never forget his class. If your young, never show up, and just want to pass, he will crucify you. Best English teacher but not the easiest. If you go to the ARC to get your english papers proofread, your sure to get an A in his class. Would take him again in a heart beat!

The hardest class I have had at SCF but the most helpful too. He is a strict teacher but the most smartest teacher I have ever had also. You will learn so much from him. But you have got to do the homework and go to class or you wont last a week.

Even though this class was a bit difficult, I found him to be really cool and quite entertaining. He is scary and intimidating at first, but if you do the work and put forth the effort, he will do all that he can to give you the grade you expected.

Extreme and Limosine Liberal - (always right), but he can be dealt with. Pretend to share his views & feign interest in him personally & flatter him. He’ll drip complements, up yr grades, & be available thru email & IM for proofreading & chats. Then you will get past "no excuse absences & no make up" policies. I got As in his 1101 & 1102 classes.

He's a tough teacher no lie he seems a little intimidating at first but he's a great professor I learned and am learning a LOT from him. He gives you all of his expectations and rules but as long as you follow them you should do fine. DONT let the bad essay grades fool you, you might do better then you think if you apply yourself.

Mr. Anson is a great teacher. He thoroughly explains everything. He will expect you to know everything from ENC 1101 if you are taking him for 1102. The tests are easy and the essays are graded fairly.

David Anson is a very unique professor. He is great at writing. He does not like late work,or talking(students). He is very serious about the class. Knows everyones names and will call you out when not paying attention. Class were you have to read and write in large amounts(almost every class),the class ended up writing 9,000 words. Fair grading.

Prof Anson was amazing. His tests can be difficult if you didn't read the stories in the textbook (so you definitely need it!) or if the story confused you. His class was always entertaining. He made me WANT to go to class!

His class is amazing. He is super easy, he doesn't even count attendance. He grades super easy on the speeches, if you go up there your are guaranteed a B. His lectures are very exciting, you wont even realize how much time has passed. He makes a lot of jokes, hes a pretty laid back guy. Definitely take notes.

The readings he chooses are excellent, he will whip your grammar into shape, and he is extraordinarily clear in his explanations. His teaching style rewards both discipline and creativity. His affect is a bit flat, and maybe that puts people off. I wouldn't be the man I am today if not for what he taught me. He inspired me to explore literature.

Professor Anson is a good teacher but, his grading scale is terrible. His quiz questions aren't very specific leaving students confused even when asked to clarify and most of his quizzes out of 6 or 7 questions. If you get 1 wrong on one of those quizzes you automatically get a C on his grading scale. (67 85% which is a C+ on his grading scale)

Amazing teacher (funny, clear, fair, and smart guy). On ENC 1101 he helped me a lot to improve my English communication skills, so I am taking him for ENC 1102 class, too.

Prof Anson is an amazing instructor. Very difficult but worth it. My writing has come very far. If you need help, ask for it. He will answer questions and help you understand. I plan to take his 1102 class.

He is a really good professors, he makes sure you get the basics detail in writing down. He is very straight farrowed. If you're looking for a class that you can act like you're in high school and be irresponsible then that not the class for you. He is understanding but not going to baby anyone. He explain materials every well, ask questions!

I took Prof Anson's class fall 2015. Coming from the Army, he took the time to move from military writing to collegiate writing. Always accessible for assistance when I asked, which was often. Very tough, but fair grader, that will make you a much better writer. Do not take him if you are not a serious student, you won't pass the class.

I took Professor Anson for both ENC1101 and ENC1102. That was my freshman year, and I am now in my senior year. His classes still stand up as the most effective and positive learning experience so far in my academic career.

David Anson is without a doubt a tough grader but only because he holds a high confidence for his students. He will give very fair feedback, help you any time you fail, he forgives your mistakes the first few times you make them and you get what you earn. He's an amazing, fun and extremely intelligent teacher. You take Anson when you want to LEARN.

I am really enjoying professor Anson's class. He is an easy grader, as far as the quizzes go. You have to read a short story before each class, and then take a quiz, and the quizzes are not surface level. In-class discussion is thought-provoking, and he explains his grading willingly. He takes his job seriously, and he wants you to do well!!

Professor Anson was by far one of the best professors Ive ever had. His lectures are incredibly interesting, and he shows a real passion for everything he does. Breaks up your reading and writing assignments to make ENC bearable. Nothing is by surprise, everything is planned out on syllabus.

Anson is a great professor when you show your motivation and respect not only to him but the subject he teaches as well. The start of the semester involves a lot of course work, but as long as you stick to it you should be fine. As a professor he is well trained in his subject, and a good person but mostly based on the type of student you are.

He is a very good instructor for a senior in college, but being a freshmen, it will not end well. Dont get me wrong he is kind, but he grades too hard. And there are quizzes every week as well as essays. It is very difficult to pass his class because of how he grades.

Professor Anson is an amazing teacher if you intend on being an amazing student. If you want to learn this is the professor for you! Although be warned, you must be diligent. He does not like to use canvas for communication or online grading/ submissions. Be prepared to talk to him in person about mistakes and things that you are struggling with.

This professor has been the only English teacher that I have enjoyed. That being said ALWAYS do the assigned readings as their will always be quizzes on it. His lectures are genuinely interesting, and although attendance is mandatory his class goes by fast. Respect him and he will respect you, talk to him outside of class he is very kind.

Yes, Anson is probably the toughest professor you can choose for ENC .He is also the best choice if you want to improve your writing. I took him for twice and struggled, but I could only respect the struggle. Anson is classic example of iron sharpens iron. He is not for everyone, but you will know if he is for you. I never found Anson to be rude.

Anson is one of my favorite professors. He makes English fun by adding in personal stories and including students in the lecture. There are quizzes for each story you read, so almost every class. There are reader responses you have to write that are due every 2 weeks (4 stories). Would take again if I didn't have to drop the class due to schedule.

He uses his own grading criteria, you have to read short stories every week, and there are quizzes almost every week. However, the work is pretty straightforward and the quizzes aren't too confusing as long as you read the stories. Overall, the class is tough, but definitely passable if you try.

There is so many good things I could say about Professor Anson! If you want to improve your writing, grammar, and punctuation skills, then this is the guy for you. Absolutely love how he connects his personal life events (which are inspirational) to lectures. Quizzes every class, so be prepared (fairly easy just ask for help if you need it).

He is a really difficult professor when it comes to grading, but it definitely helped me a lot. His grading is different, I would get 90 points on a paper and for him that will be a C+ or a B-. He is really specific on how he wants the papers to be written. He does lots of quizzes, but he usually gives a lot of help before the quizzes.

Prof. Anson is a no-nonsense professor that will show you how important personal discipline is. He is strict on students. Quiz every class. On average I spent 2 hours for each class studying for the quizzes (on stories in the textbook). Heavy work load. Personal essays and one research paper during April. Oral presentation after paper. Easy final!

Professor Anson is one of the best professors I have taken. He is very knowledgeable in English, he is very strict with his grading but he is very generous with points. He has a quiz every class on a short story. There is an Oral presentation at the end of the semester but you have the option to present it to him.

After reading all these reviews, I walked into his class terrified, and I left pleasently surprised. He is not rude like people say he is, and he is helpful to those who need it. I will say, he does grade differently than any other teacher I have had, but if you follow directions and try your best you should not fail the class.
