Mr. Archer is such a nice guy who really wants us to gain from the course. EDUC 406 is such an easy, useless course - automatic A if you go. It won't help you decide whether to be a teacher. You read cheesy books, teach a lesson, and give group presentations on things you already know about. Great guy, but I've felt I wasted my tuition in this.
He's really just the greatest guy, this class is a blast and sooo easy, basically an automatic A in a 400 level class, it doesn't get much better than that. You also learn a lot about the current state of education. I really can't recommend this enough for someone looking to get into education. Archer is fantastic!
hes awesome. take the class it is interesting and fun.
The reason this class is easy is Professor Archer leaves room for a lot of discussion and free thinking. That freedom plays a huge role because even in all the responses and essays you write for the class what you think is important. So do ALL of the work as outlined in the syllabus and you'll definitely have fun while learning in his class.
Mr.Archer is absolutely amazing. His class is only easy because he makes it so interactive. He isn't a hard grader but he isn't a pushover either. Does not play favorites, he is fair to all. When he tells you his life story, you'll be blown away and amazed by all he has accomplished. This class wil absolutely help you determine if u want2teach
mr.archer is the greatest teacher! he loves what he does and is amazing at making the class fun and educational! best class i took at bing!
This is hands down the best teacher at BU. Loves teaching and even if you aren't interested in being a teacher he will make you reconsider. I had him at 8:30 am and I have always had a problem attending class but I enjoyed waking up extremely early to go to his class. Unless you have a fear of presenting in front of people, TAKE THIS CLASS!
HE IS THE MAN.
This man is my role model. SERIOUSLY. He's done so much with his life and he's the best teacher I've ever had. Excellent class, excellent professor, if you have any interest at all working in schools in any capacity TAKE THIS CLASS. You won't regret it.
AWESOME
He is tremendous...was as a high school teacher and continues to influence others at the college level. The best prof at BU and truly cares about people.
You will never meet a more engaging professor at any university. If you are remotely interested in being a teacher (or having kids one day who will have teachers) Not taking this class would be a huge disservice to yourself and you would be missing out learning from one of the best.
Mr. Archer is by far the most caring and passionate professor I had at Bing. He loves the subject, cares about his students and makes you think about education in an entirely different way. Take this class!
Seriously the best professor I've had at this school (and I'm gonna be a senior next semester). If you get anything less than an A-, its because you don't participate enough in discussions, which is the entire class. No tests, very little homework. The man knows what he's talking about, and knows how to teach it in an enjoyable way.
FANTASTIC professor! loves what he teaches and knows how to keep us interested in the class
Archer is the best prof. I've had. He's an awesome guy, knows what he's talking about... he keeps you INTERESTED, does it in fun ways, and is just fun to talk to (I still sometimes shoot him email to ask about random things). Even if you don't think you want to be a teacher, I recommend this class. Excellent learning experience :D
Everyone should take this class. Attendence is mandatory but it is a very fun class. David is one of the best at Bing, they need more like him. No exams but there are small assignments and such. TAKE HIM
Professor Archer makes this class great. He really sparked my interest in education and is extremely helpful and easy to talk to. This class has a lot of little assignments but as long as you do them you're good. They're not hard at all.
Amazing teacher and truly loves what he does. Inspired me to continue my education to become a teacher. He cares about all his students and is a great professor.
He cares more about his students futures then any other professor I have had at Binghamton. He is knowledgeable about the field and tries to make class interesting and helpful. Definitely take this class!
Mr. Archer really cares about us and wants us to do well & succeed, and loves sharing about his passion of teaching. He has done so much with his life and is an incredible role model for students who want to go into education and those who don't, either (he's been a mayor and is a dad/grandpa and talks about those both a lot too). Take this class!
Archer is easily one of the best professors at Bing. 406 is class run on the interest of the students taking it and Archer makes the class fun and engaging. Would recommend him and this class to everyone interested in education.
This man is one you dont come across too often in your lifetime. He's such a pleasure to talk with, and super inspiring.
Professor Archer is a one of a kind guy. Very passionate and animated educator. It's by no means a class you can phone in; it's an "easy A" if you get into the material and put your time in. Always available to help, and his assignments allow you to be very creative.
No tests. Just some individual and group projects. No papers either. He likes everything in bullet form. no textbook!
Archer is the type of professor every teacher should strive to be. You could tell he really enjoyed teaching and by the end of the semester you will feel inspired to join the education system. He assigns group projects and easy homework assignments (bullet format) that you can copy and paste from the web. Education minor or not you should take him!
Archer is not only the best professor I've ever had, but he is one of the most inspirational people I've met. He truly cares about all of his students as well as the future of the education system, and he instills that passion into all of his students as well. Interesting class discussions that always made me want to make a difference in the world
Archer is the man. I highly recommend this class and this professor. There is some work here and there, but as long as you put in some effort you'll do fine. Awesome class!
One of my favorite professors ever. He is so understanding and you can tell he cares about all his students. Everyone respects him and class discussions are interesting and keep you engaged. He gives homework and a few projects, but they're all easy and not too much work.
Cares more about his students and making sure they learn/understand the material than sticking to the book. Great professor & class is easy to do well in if you show up and do the work.
The most amazing teacher I have ever had! He genuinely cares where you end up in life and is so passionate about his students. I teared a little on the last day saying goodbye to him
He is amazing!! So inspiring and really cares about the field of education and his students. I am hoping this class will help me to decide to become a teacher or not. Really nice.
As a senior, I can easily say he is the most fantastic professor I've had. He will help you understand if this field is right for you, and if it isn't, you will still learn so much and have a wonderful experience. He is so genuinely caring, and will provide great advice no matter the situation or your career path. I can't say enough- take it!
If you have ever considered entering the field of education, you MUST take 406 with Professor Archer. This is one of the only professors that I have come across at BU that cares about each and every individual. He has so much passion for education and is one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. This is unlike any other class I have taken!!
The most amazing professor you will ever take at Binghamton. I wish this man was my father. He is so intelligent and genuine. He loves what he does and his class is interesting and exciting.
Professor Archer is a wonderful professor. His lectures are inspiring and his ability to remain personable with each student is incredible. You will find yourself excited to attend each lecture. Professor Archer will change your college experience if you are interested in education take this class!!
Take his class and you won't regret it! He's an incredible and inspiring man. His classes are mainly discussion based so be sure to participate. Participation is not even intimidating because the discussions are so easy-going and refreshing. Assignments are easy. Highly recommend taking this class!!
Hes basically the closest thing to God
Literally the best professor that I have had here at Binghamton. Extremely inspirational and caring about his students. The class is overall a great experience; I would recommend taking if you can. The lectures are furfilling and the discussions are fun and engaging. There are no tests and if you do your work(easy) you will do well.
Please take his class and get involved in the minor as well. Archer is a caring, passionate, intelligent man who will always be understanding and make an effort to get to know you. He has done amazing things for the ed minor and always lets his students create their own paths. I am so lucky to have known him and appreciate everything he did for me.
The best professor you will find at Binghamton University. This man has no flaws and I honestly wish he was my father. Extremely knowledgeable and understanding. Class is fun and not too much work. Show that you are interested and care and you'll get an A. He's the best!
When a professor is able to convey within a lesson the genuine importance and value beyond the classroom of what you do in the classroom, it's something special, and Mr. Archer does just that on a consistent basis no matter how bad his day has been.
Archer is the best professor at Binghamton. He makes every class extremely interesting and is so caring for his students. He gets to know every single one of his students.
Never have I met a teacher better suited in their job. He is confident and knowledgable, but lacks any arrogance. Genuinely cares about every student and wants to help them figure out their future, whether in teaching or not. Assignments were fun, discussions were interesting, and my eyes were opened way more than I expected. An absolute pleasure
Everyone says that Archer is the best teacher they have ever had, and I will confirm this. He is caring, inspirational, and I never missed a class because I enjoyed going so much. Don't miss out on taking a class with him.
He has confirmed to me that I want to get into the education field. The class is very easy but he makes the class interesting and worth going to. His care for every student I have not seen here at Binghamton by any professor to this level. He has also done so much for the minor which is great. Really good class and an even better person.
By far the best person in the world. Cares about every student, gets to know them, wants them to succeed, even if it's not down his path as an educator. Never wanted to miss class because I looked forward to it so much
Archer is a great professor. You can tell he is truly passionate about education. He is also very fun and he keeps a discussion interesting, you can tell he truly cares about your opinion. He is also very flexible when it comes to assignment. I asked for an extension for a project and I got it because he understood that it happens now and then.
Best professor I ever had
Amazing professor. He is so very helpful and makes class very interesting and enjoyable. I always looked forward to his class and he is such a genuine and wonderful person. I recommend him to anyone who is interested in the education field.
Archer is literally the best professor at Binghamton. He cares SO much about his students and you will learn more than any other class. He makes you want to go to class and actually put effort into your assignments. The class is what you make it, you can get a lot out of it if you want to. This man should teach every class in my opinion.
mr archer is the best professor at bing! he wants everyone to succeed and is willing to help you . determine what type of education career you want. participate and try, you'll get an A
Not bad not amazing.
Amazing man that everyone looks up to for his genuine desire for everyone to do what they love and provides you with life experience and kindness no other professor possesses
David Archer is one of the most amazing professors at Binghamton. He is caring, compassionate, understanding, interesting, and inspirational. TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM. You will not regret it. I learned so much from him and really enjoyed EDUC 406. One of the few professors that seems to truly care and root for his students.
Mr Archer is the absolute greatest professor at Binghamton. He truly cares about every single one of his students, and makes learning fun. He takes the time to get to know everyone, and that always stands out to me. Greatest man, and he's full of wisdom. If you get the chance, take his class you won't regret it.
I really liked Archer throughout the entire semester. My only complaint is that the class felt a little disorganized, and it never felt like he and his TAs were on the same page. This made assignments and grading criteria pretty confusing, but assignments were pretty easy so it wasn't a huge deal.
Mr. Archer inspired me to become a Social Studies teacher. His class put me on my path to be an educator and his inspiring words still ring true today. I give him so much credit for going above and beyond the role of professor.
A literal king. super flexible and understanding and the classes are never boring
this professor is one of the reasons why I still feel passions in the things that i study. he is truly one of the most caring and intelligent people you will ever cross paths with and taking a class with him is one of the best most mentally revitalizing things you can do for yourself. show up, participate, and enjoy the fun projects of the class.
Professor Archer is by far the best professor Binghamton University has to offer. Hes such a wonderful person and I thoroughly looked forward to attending his class. I am genuinely sad that he doesnt teach more of the Education classes, because he is THAT good. He cares about all of his students, and makes an effort to get to know all of them.
Everything positive to say about this professor has already been said, and it's all true. Assignments were focused on creativity, like coming up with questions from articles, designing infographics, and presenting without slides
Everything that has already been said about Archer is accurate. He is not only incredibly kind, caring, and funny, he is amazing at conveying the topics of education. Never have I ever had a professor that cared about his students and goes above and beyond for them inside the classroom and outside. He deserves the absolute world. TAKE THIS CLASS.
Archer is the nicest and most down to earth professor I've ever had at Binghamton. He cares about his students and knows the material of the class so well that everything just feels like one big discussion about education. Attendance and participation mandatory but hardly any homework or assignments. Definitely take this class.
mr. archer is clearly extremely passionate about his field. he just wants to see his students succeed and the class is a nice break in the day. no tests, just some assignments and 2 presentations. highly recommend. a gem of a man.
Mr. Archer is an absolutely incredible person and professor. He is so passionate about the field of education and is genuinely concerned about the well-being of his students. Attendance is pretty much mandatory but every single class is so fun and engaging. He deserves the world--love him so much and absolutely recommend!
Professor Archer is by far the most amazing professor I've had at Binghamton. I learned so much in 406 that can be applied to almost anything. He truly cares about his students and the class is so much fun, primarily discussion based with projects that have a lot of flexibility. My only complaint, I wish he taught more classes so I could take them!
Mr. Archer was by far the best professor I've ever had. He is the most caring and kind person you will ever meet and is so understanding. He is very knowledgeable in his field and gives very good and interesting lectures. The class itself was easy - only a few assignments and projects that are fun to do. I wish he taught more classes!
Amazing professor!!! Definitely take this class if you have the chance, Archer is a wonderful teacher!
Best professor at bing. Wants everyone to do well. Cares about you as a person. Wish I could take a million classes with Archer. Gives grandpa vibes.
By far the most amazing professor I have had so far. He's passionate about education and is the nicest man. Just show up to class, participate, and do the projects he assigns and you'll get an A! Great classroom environment. I 100% would recommend taking a class with him! I wish he taught more classes!
Archer is the undisputed goat. I came away from each lecture feeling like I genuinely learned about education and life in general - all without tests and overly stressful projects. Archer creates a unique and extremely special class culture and I will miss this class with all my heart.
By far the professor I've ever had, cannot recommend him enough. Genuinely cares about everyone and tries to get to know everyone. Super understanding and accommodating. Also very funny, overall amazing guy. The class consists of a couple of presentations, a few projects, and mostly just class discussions. Take this class!
the best professor and person overall at Binghamton by far- if you have the chance to take this class, take it and you will not regret it.
Mr. Archer is such a genuine person, and great teacher. He cares about all of his students, and wants them to succeed. His class was very informative, and useful for the real world. His classroom environment was super comfortable and supportive. Please take his class if you can!
Mr. Archer is hands down one of the best professors at bing. He loves what he teaches and has great relationships with students. He is simply the best. So sad he doesn't teach 410 because I want to be in his class again.
Impossible not to like Mr. Archer + do well in the class
Professor Archer was the best teacher I've had at Binghamton thus far. He cares about his students and wants to see them exceed. He is an easy grader. If you have the chance to take one of his classes, do it. You won't regret it.
Archer is iconic. Participate and be engaged in class and he will love you. Small class so easy for him to get to know every student individually.
Not sure why everyone is so obsessed with him. He is so full of himself
The best professor you will ever have. Cares deeply about his students. Great class. As long as you show up and complete the assignments you will get an A. Super fun and engaging class. Could not recommend his class more.
took 406 in the spring bc i heard that everyone loves him and to be fair he is funny but he assigned a ton of projects and took off points for the most random things. also consistently misogynistic
He is the sweetest soul. If you do the work, you will get an A. Does not use brightspace so much and you turn things in via physical copy. Graded on participation so only miss maximum 3 classes. He truly gets to know you and cares about what he does, awesome guy to have met. He loves what he does and takes the class in whatever direction he wants.
He has made many disparaging, disrespectful, and gross comments towards female students in the class, making me, a male, feel uncomfortable and negatively impacted the learning environment. There is a frustrating amount of busy work that is harshly graded on criteria not on the rubric. Unfortunately this class is mandatory for the EDUC minor.
This class was honestly a waste of time.
very nice professor. very easy A as long as you do the work. sometimes not clear on what he wants. grades based on vibes. grading can be unclear at times. doesn't use brightspace. everything is paper copies. barely any homework assignments. sometimes disorganized though. does care about his students and wants to get to know them.
Easiest class, nicest man, loves to make a connection with students. Show up for class, participate. It's like a breath of fresh air, very chill and completely discussion based. Interesting topics related to education and any occasional reading was super easy. No tests/quizzes.
Mr. Archer is the goat. Class is super easy and its very easy, you just have to somewhat participate in discussions. There are a few presentations but nothing hard. You will enjoy this class!!!
Archer is everything that people tell you. He truly cares for every person, and wants you to LEARN, putting less pressure on getting high grades. Super easy to do well, just participate in discussions, hand in assignments, and you will be just fine. Mostly just discussions every day. Also, Archer was the mayor of Endicott, how cool!
Kind chill dude. No real syllabus. Fun class. Easy grader. Passionate about Education.
Might as well be a class on politics. Really nice though. TAs are way too much.
SO amazing and kind learned so much.
Absolutely amazing professor. Take this class!!
