Really boring, the classic absent minded college professor. Math smart but tough to stay awake.
i hate calc but he dosent hate me for it. he was a good teacher and kept my interest most of the time even though calc hella blows.
2much homework, doesnt give any kind of study guide for test, which makes math even harder, lot of material covered on tests, HW is only 25% of grade, rest is the three tests and the final. This class is ruining my GPA and even though it's my prob, fact that i do all my homework every week and attend every class and do every lab should mean somethin
very hard class. tests are hard...the whole class doesnt get anything. theres a lot of hw and labs every week but it pretty much doesnt count for anything. :( it sux i just hope i get a C. thats all i want.
Class started out bad, but through class suggestions it has changed for the better. He now gives out study guides before tests, is clearer when lecturing, started a study group and is available anytime he's not teaching to answer questions. He is also open to student suggestions to make his teaching better.
This class is not an easy class, and he is not an easy grader. Every one in the class have to work very hard.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! HE IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! SUCKS AT TEACHING!!!
I liked his class. I never studied and got an A in the class. He is willing to help students on his free time. He is not for everyone though, many kids in the class didn't catch on to what he was teaching.
Be prepared to use your book...alot! He doesn't actually teach you anything. Instead, he takes a random problem from the middle of the section and does it, without any instruction or context.
If you're not a fast learner and can't catch on really quickly, this isn't the teacher for you. He's good if you're quick and good at math. He's very willing to help if you need it and he hands out a study guide before tests that is REALLY helpful. I am getting an A so far, so he must be doing something right.
Oh man, where do I start.. Really nice guy, hardest tests I've ever taken, buy the stats answer book when you get the text, it will save your life and grade!
I have always done well in math...except when i had badal. got my first F!!!! descent guy but really really bad math teacher.
Nice guy, but really hard to understand. He is not the best teacher. I had a tutor, did all the assignments, studied for every test and I got a B. I definitely had to work in this class.
This class was just okay for me. Ive always been really good at math. Ive taken high levels of calculus and i really had to work at this because he forces you to teach yourself. Watch out for hard exams! Try to persuade him to make it easy and he can be a pushover. However, you MUST study hard. Stats is just weird and pointless overall.
I am usually really awesome at Math, but this class was ridiculous. His tests are SO HARD and doing the homework doesn't help. I did my homework, was never absent, but because I did poorly on tests, I got a D. Get a tutor if you take his class, that's the only way you'll pass.
Nice guy. He knows his stuff but it's kinda boring. Most of time on class he would do stuff on his calculator or write notes on the board. Lots of homework but it's easy once you get the main idea. Grab the book and teach yourself, ASK QUESTIONS whenever possible. Tests aren't that hard. LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR CALCULATOR!!!
like some other people said he is nice, but don't take his class unless you are either already good at math or have taken a similar course to math 55 before. he shows you examples but they are only a fraction of what you need to know. if you cant study math from a book, then DONT TAKE HIM. his tests are also really hard.
Really nice guy. Willing to help. The problem with this is he needs help teaching. A LOT of help. Be prepared to learn from the book and learn how to use your calculator. Exams do NOT reflect notes/homework. Allows 1 full pg. back and front & has study guides for Exams but this doesn't really help either. Good luck taking his class.
Worst math teacher I've ever had. Nice guy, but if you are not good at math, do not take this class. He will mislead you with study guides that have nothing to do with the actual tests, so you feel that you've wasted your time. He will expect you to apply concepts in different situations. TERRIBlE
Horrible. He doesn't use good examples and if the example is too hard or too long, then he won't even finish it. Quizzes are unannounced, so be prepared to have a quiz based on something you learned a month ago. Test questions are really tricky. If math isn't your thing, then skip this professor unless you can teach yourself from the text.
This course started out simple but became increasingly hard. Mr. Badal is nice but he should have spent more time w/ the students who didn't understand than w/ the students that did (some had taken the class before). Many students dropped as a result and those who stuck in there had to refer to the book 4 most activities. Not recommended 4 most.
horrible math teacher. i have had many bad math teachers in the past but this one is the worst. first class i have ever had to drop due to a extremely bad teacher. do not expect to learn anything at all from him.
He knows what he is talking about, but can get a bit boring. Not a good speaker, but can explain things in multiple ways. I found this class quite easy since I've done statistics before, but if you have no background in it, you might find it tough. He does allow one page of notes for tests, which makes them relatively easy.
He is weird gets off topic a lot and is a hard teacher. Don't take this class unless you are awesome at teaching yourself.
Nice guy! But be really careful on his hard exam!!!!! You should do the hw every time. In the first day of the class, there are full of people...but on the final exam day, there are only 10 people left!!!! I worked really hard on his class, but still got a poor grade!!! Think carefully before taking this class.
Very boring, I mean I know math is supposed to be boring, but this was ridiculous. He is super willing to help you any time you need it, however, the explanation is not clear at all! Sometimes he goes off track and confuses you. He will teach you a technique to solving a problem, then tell you not to ever use it again. Strange/nice guy.
Badal is a really nice guy and if you have a good handle on Math you might do well, if you struggle in Math this is not the teacher for you! He is smart and has a hard time bringing it down to 65A level. I think he struggles with teaching someone who is not as smart as him. He teaches one way and tests are opposite way of what he taught. Confusing
Super nice, pretty awkward, and makes a lot of jokes that aren't funny (unless you're into algebraic humor). Unless you can teach yourself the material or have a tutor, chances are you will struggle. I made that mistake, however he WAS kind enough to let me add into his class. He's very nice, yet confusing and a tad boring... You've been warned!
Nice guy, very smart but one of the worst teachers I have had.Easily off topic, does not plan ahead, skips steps or does not complete example problems,Tests problems way over complicated and not in homework or covered in class. Will ignore you if you raise hand bottom line terrible.
Words of advice if you take this class with him get a tutor RIGHT AWAY. I waited and took two tests, failed them, then got a tutor. He is such a nice guy who you want to like but teaching is not his thing. Tests are extremely hard and he actually grades your HW for accuracy. Try your hardest to take someone else for this course.
Mr. Badal is an overall nice person, but if you aren't keen on math, prepare to get a tutor. He does not cover the material as an instructor should. He even said at the start of the semester that a significant amount of students failed his class. Not a quality I want in a teacher..
His class was fine for the student who wants A. If you do homework and ILC assignment, you'll get good grade on test. I just reviewed homework and assignment before test and got over 90 on every tests. When you are stuck, ask him! You need to make yourself clear. He helps you.
Like other reviews, he is a really nice guy. He seems like he truly wanted the class to pass. I will admit it was hard to understand, he seems to go over the content very quickly and it was a lot to process every class. All in all, not too painful. I recommend a tutor!
I just have to say he is an awesome guy, super easy to get along with. Wants his students involved and if you try really hard w/o a doubt you can get at least a B if not better. I missed two weeks of class and I still passed. If you think he's hard then go ahead and take another pre-cal prof. Let me know how it works out lol.
He was extremely nice, but not the best math teacher for someone who doesn't understand math. he gave hw in advance and tests were straightforward. IF YOU UNDERSTAND MATH WELL TAKE HIM, if not maybe try a different teacher. He does try to help his students out though.
Three words: HE CAN'T TEACH. That is all you need to know about him. Don't take him if you can't understand math on your own. He is very inconsistent at answering students' questions. Sometimes he doesn't answer them at all.
As many other people have said if you understand math go for it. If you can't I would advise not taking it. His lectures aren't clear, and personally I can't even pay attention in his class because of it. I don't understand math at all, and taking this class was a mistake for me. But he does make an effort to help
Badal is a good teacher yet sometimes he can be confusing. However, that being said, he will answer all your questions and will help you with anything you need help on. But doing all the homework and going to class is a must. Other then that, he tells you what will be on the test and gives practice problems before the test.
Mr. Badal you are seriously the best teacher ever. I got a B in your class and all i did was pay attention and go to class. (I hope you read this because you rock) He really wants you to do well and he's so nice. He gives you a study guide before the test and its literally almost the test. Tell him if you don't understand and he'll go over it again
Mr. Badal is a good teacher! I failed though (by 1/2 pt) because I was struggling personally and my attendance was poor. I have a pretty good understanding of math and was able to follow along pretty well in his class when I attended. Study guides are provided for the test, just don't expect it to match the test material. Know your stuff and STUDY!
Badal was a pretty good math teacher. It was a cut and dry class, nothing fancy. He just walked you through the problems on the projector. Gets distracted easily, goes on tangents. Expect cheesy (but sometimes funny) jokes and puns. Uses Mathlab for homework and quizzes. He is a really nice guy and will help if you ask for it.
I took statistics in high school the year before I took this class which made it easy. The MyStatLab homework is easy and straight forward and it's possible to get 100% every time. Tests are easy if you do the study guides he hands out. He always offers extra help if you need it. Lectures were kind of boring.
Mr. Badal was great. He gives worksheets every meeting about the topic we're about to cover and before exams he gives out review exercises which is almost going to be similar to the exam that he gives. Really helpful!
I thought Badal was an amazing math professor. He allows you to have cheat sheets during all this test which is really helpful and always provides you a study guide which is really an exact duplicate of the test. I always struggled with math, but taking it with him actually made it really easy.
He is a very caring teacher, he says a lot of corny jokes that were actually kind of funny. He would take his time to explain and is always willing to help. I hate math but I passed with a B because I did all my homework and actually payed attention. Great instructor if you actually do the work, but not if you are lazy.
Mr. Badal genuinely wants his students to pass and do well. He gave us so many extensions when the quizzes and homework were due. He's also really funny but the most students in my class didn't pay attention so it wasn't received well. It's a shame since he really is a good teacher. He will definitely help you any way he can if you ask.
Badal is a good teacher. He wants the class to have decent grades and thus does everything in his reach to make that possible. He provides cheat sheets on tests with an additional sheet every test. Unlimited attempts on HWs, 3 attempts on quizzes. The tests are almost the exact same as the study guides. Should be an easy A for hardworking students.
He's a little awkward but he's so so nice! He makes the class pretty fun to go to and he's super caring and make the study guides for the test super similar to the test. Definitely recommend him!
Mr. Badal was seriously my fav professor. He was very understanding of everybody's situations, and would not only help with stats, but also with life. Go to class, do the homework and online quizzes on time, participate, and ASK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT. Mr. Badal is very helpful, and his study guides are basically his exams. Take his class!
Gives homework every week. His tests are easy to get ready for because he gives practice tests that you can can take home and they are the same type of questions that will be on the tests. I would definitely have him as a teacher if I was going to take a math class again.
Great guy! fair amount of homework. Lab can be painful but if you just ask, he'll tell you exactly what to do. quizzes are online and you get multiple tries. All the questions on the quizzes are from homework. PRACTICE EXAM IS EXAM! do homework and study the practice exam easy A. 1% extra credit on the course if you spend require time in math lab.
Be ready to teach the material yourself
On the first day of class, he couldn't even thoroughly or clearly explain the syllabus! When he's talking he keeps repeating the same things, stopping in the middle of his sentences and laughing to himself? After reading the syllabus he seemed strict but when it came to disruptive people in class he didn't even care. I dropped the class after day 2
He's a very sweet guy, and he really truly cares for your grade. Tries to work with you if you have unexpected problems in your life affecting school. Easy class as long as you study those study guides. Literally the same thing as the exam but changed numbers. Homework is fairly easy, make sure to stay on top of it cause it's easy 20% of your grade
His lectures are pretty straight forward. Corny jokes here & there, but he really does show that he cares about you & your grade. The homework in his class was much more difficult than the test. The study guide is very similar to your test. Do it backwards and forwards until you get it. Drops lowest test & he offers 3% extra credit. Business Major.
Badal was one of my favorite community college professors. I got an A in his class because I studied for the lectures and got an A on all his tests. I would recommend him to anyone.
I was skeptical at first from what I've heard on how he teaches. He's an okay professor and doesn't give a lot of hw. Kind of awkward but still nice and will be happy to help you if you ask. Most of your grade is based on exams.
The material itself is very difficult, he teaches stats and calc, but every class is lecture for 30 mins, then he helps everyone but you have to ask, if you don't you won't pass. The study guide is the same as the test, so do that and you'll get an A. HW allows unlimited tries but there are 2 a week at least, whole sem to do them. Badal was my fave
i took busn calc w/ prof badal. he is very understanding and pretty lenient. hes always happy to help and work with you on the work, due dates, and time constraints. as long as you do most of the work and try, youll do good! plus he allows cheat sheets on tests and there are extra credit opportunities.
The biggest sweetie. May not be the most clear with lectures, but I had him for Business Calculus (only 6 chapters) so given that it wasn't a lot of material compared to other maths, I got the gist. He's the absolute nicest and is absolutely ready to explain anything if you need extra help. He never makes you feel bad for being behind or confused.
Professor Badal is a great professor. If you pay attention to his lectures and ask questions stats will be a breeze for you. He's always willing to help after class and on lab days. He gives a study guide pretty much like the test, study that and you will be golden. Homework is due on test days, and easy quizzes. Plus he's a nice and funny guy!!
Professor Badal is AMAZING! I recommend him to everyone and not just for Math40. There are pop quizzes but take good notes and you're good (show up to class). He also lets students work together on quizzes. The study guide looks exactly like the test. Allows notes for test and final! He is available outside of class and no way you can't pass.
Professor Badal is a great Math teacher! He does his best explaining the material during the time of virtual learning. More than anything he is understanding and gives time on homework. For quizzes and exams he gives you two attempts & enough time with the second attempt only working on the incorrect answers. Thnx to him I understand Stats!
Professor Badal was awesome. I had his course at 8 am online for my first semester of college! He did a great job teaching us. Class participation was low, but I learned a lot. We used Connect Math on the McGraw Hill website for homework and tests. He offered retests and drops your lowers test grade! Amazing guy, makes a lot of puns and jokes!
Professor Badal is amazing!! I took his class last semester and I really enjoyed it. Everything he taught is easy to understand. He gives enough time for students to do the homework, quizzes, and tests. I definitely would like to take his class again!
Great professor to have. Boring lectures sometimes but you get used to it. Its fun when you participate! Whether you laugh at his humor or not you have to at least appreciate it. Kind professor, takes time to explain if you have questions. Makes sure he is available to help always. Gracious. So grateful to have him for this subject!
Badal is one of the sweetest teachers I have had at Las po. I'm not sure if his teaching style was 100% for me but I think it would've been more engaging in person and I took on zoom. I still learned everything though. He is very accommodating if you need to turn in late work and he will help you out if you ask. Very quick response to emails too.
I LOVE BADAL!!!!! PLEASE TEACH BUSINESS CALC I NEED YOU!! But seriously Professor Badal is a great professor and if you need to take stats take his class.
Badal was really chill, quizzes were actually similar to practice tests.
Very easy going professor and because of that the class is not hard either. You have multiple weeks to finish homework assignments and quizzes. Tests are literally just the quiz questions with different numbers and you can have a page of notes for the exams. Stats is not bad at all. I thought I would fail but Badal made it easy and enjoyable!
I took this class in summer which is why it was very intense, yet I got a B. I think Taking his class during a normal semester would be much easier! however, if u decide to take this async, then get ready to explain and teach yourself everything, literally. he gives videos that explain things for each section, but with no relevance what so ever.
Finally passed with an A In stats after taking it twice. His teaching style is boring and he gets off topic really easily so I didn't pay much attention in class. The best part was that the exams were literally identical to our quizzes we had to do for homework. He allowed us to have a one sheet of paper with our own notes for the exam.
I really liked this class! I was intimidated at first but it ended up being somewhat easy. The homework is easy if you read the free textbook he provides as well as the youtube videos that go along with the lessons. Just be on top of your work and you'll be good!
The course is organized. Assignments are strongly based on videos attached to each lesson so they are quite easy to understand. Late work can be submitted up until finals week. Provides a practice test identical to the final. Takes a day or two to respond to emails so if you have questions, make sure to ask ahead of time. Stay on top of assignments
Don't fully believe the comments which said that this is an easy course. Stat is hard, he is not, and he doesn't offer any test retake anymore. There is no penalty for late work but that doesn't mean that you should do them all at the end. Try to keep up with the "due dates" otherwise, it's going to be a nightmare at the end of the term.
Scatterbrained professor who doesn't understand how to convey information to his students. He doesn't engage his students in the class. He doesn't understand what went wrong when 13 people in the class score an F on his test. He doesn't keep the class accountable for homework and will not grade until the end of the semester.
Great professor, but difficult class due to the subject. Like many other students have said, you can turn things in as late as you want as long as it's before the final; but don't procrastinate because it can get out of hand really quick. The quizzes are literally the same as the exams (just different numbers) so be sure to keep retaking them.
Professor Badal actually made Stats quite fun and a bit easier. Since it was fully asynchronous you did have to pay close attention to the material given and teach yourself a bit but he gives lots of room for late work and is very understanding!
Excellent professor! Calculus II was asynchronous. Tons of homework and exams were moderate. Follow the review quizzes, and you will do great on the exams. Professor Badal, you rock!
I had Badal for Math 34, it was certainly difficult, but it was not impossible. He was available if you had to ask for help, whether after class or through e-mail. Be prepared to study outside of lectures and do lots of homework. He graded everything as the class was ending. Exams are in person and he allows a full page of notes.
He is a really great professor ane you can tell he cares about his students. Attendance is mandatory, he drops after 4 unexcused absences. You got the whole semester to submit online quizzes and homework, for tests you're allowed 1 paper front and back for notes. His lectures aren't always the clearest imo but the textbook does a good job helping.
Pretty chill professor that communicated well during the summer course. There are about 11 chapters worth of assignments on MyOpenMath and the exams are nearly identical as the homework assignments, just worded differently. There are 4 labs that are 10% of your grade and 3 plus the final exams which are 40% of your grade.
