This dude lectures on just about anything that comes to his mind...his tests are not on any of what he says half the time...you must read the book!! But he curves the tests very well, so he's cool with me.

Very funny guy... will talk about anything! Understanding and always helpful!

This professor talks about a lot of things that has to do with Psychology. He also tells stories. He is not boring. He made me like psychology.

He is great and very easy to learn from, however, if you do not attend class you will be lost because what he teaches on is more from life then the book at times, hes great though!

this guy is a hoot and halla. he tells stories in class that have nothing to do with the test. if you read the study guide and the online study guide from the book you will make an A. he also drops your lowest test grade.

HUGE scales on every test, If you want to make an A and only get half the questions right on a test, TAKE BALL. hes the bomb.

Developmental psych is cake with Ball...I had over 100 average without ever studying. Take his class for an easy A.

Dave Ball is a friendly guy who'll work with you if you seem to care at all. Go to class, ask a couple Qs for participation points and you'll get an easy A. I would have prefered him to have left his obvious Christian bias at home, but hey, it IS Alabama.

He is so fun and informative. There is a lot of material so the class is still difficult, but if you study, you will do well. He kept me laughing the whole class period.

Take this class form Dr. Ball if you want an A. He drops the lowest test garde. All i had to do was sign my last test, and i din't attend the last two weeks of class...do not take this from anyone else if you can help it

I can't remember the class I took with him, but I do remember him. He is one of the coolest people you will ever meet. Attendence is a must, but you want to go because he has so many cool stories to tell!

He is a very nice man who really enjoys teaching. His class is very interesting and EASY. He give you the sections out of the book to read and tells you that at least 20 questions will come from the study guide word for word. This class is very easy and interesting. Take his class!

Great teacher...makes learning a lot of fun. There isnt a boring moment in class.It isnt easy to take notes during his classes because his lectures mostly consist of stories and examples, but he does follow the book.

His class is interesting but the tests aren't easy.It doesn't matter if you go to class or not because he doesn't really talk much about what's going to be on the test of anything about psychology.The best thing to do to pass is read the book and BUY THE STUDYGUIDE. Most test questions come from the study guide. He can be unclear at times.

Ditto most the other comments. He makes the material real, and seems to actually care what people do with it once they go into their fields. He tests to the study guide, but the lectures are useful for life in general. You can skip all but test days if you really feel like it.

His lectures are interesting but...completely unrelated to what your tested on. I skipped a lot and wound up with a B, perhaps had I gone to more than five of the lectues I would have gotten an A. As long as you read the book and do the little quizzes in the back and in the chapters your pretty much set.

I highly suggest taking this class. I took it during the summer 9-week term. All of his test are essay format and he lets drop the lowest one. Overall, the class is easy if you try. I got an A in the course.

I love Dr. BALL!!!! HE IS SO AMAZING!!!! He is always so helpful and open to any ?!! He was there to help me w/ any career issues and even curious about my cultural background! What a sweet and awesome man!!! He makes tests so straightfwd by them coming from study guides and vocab from book! He is different from from many apathethic profs!

Really great teacher. Very pleasant and interesting to listen to. He is interesting without being insulting like alot of profs are...you know how some can't seem to tell the difference? He's a genuinely nice guy and makes the course nice for a change. During lecture he talks to you, not at you. I didn't snooze in his class. Highly recommend.

Mr. Ball does not appear to be an easy teacher but He is definitely not hard. I have yet to figure out just how he tests or how he is grading these tests but I always end up with a better grade than I expected. He is very knowledgeable, helpful and just an all around neat guy. I would recommend his class to anyone of any major.

Tends to get off a subject alot. Gives a list of test questions up front. Short essay format for most. Overall good class. Dont be too lazy and you will do fine

Professor Ball is a very good professor. He may have gone off on tangents, but who doesn't. If you are paying attention, his tangents sometimes gives you some real life insight into the subject. He is also helpful if you actually put some effort into talking to him or asking. His 101 class is not so great, but his culture class is very interesting!

The class gave me a new perspective on other cultures. The class is very easy. I got an A without trying too much. I attended every class, took notes, and followed him in the book. I read the chapter before coming to class and that really helped. The tests were sometimes spur of the moment, but it basically echoed what he said in class.

Ball is a great teacher. You will learn alot from his lectures but they are not directly from the book. You must read the book though, because the tests and quizzes are from the book. His lectures are very interesting and his is open to class discussion.

Lesson plans were well organized, has a sense of humor so lecture material doesn't get too heavy, exam difficulty is relative to note-taking skills, some reading of the text is recommended for exams, professor is very helpful (not condescending if you have a question). He's one of the best professors I've had at UAB.

I think Professor Ball's online PY 101 class is not hard at all. His lectures are a little boring and you need to read the book if you want to pass the tests. The tests are hard and require you to APPLY the knowledge learned. I have a high B in his class. He is a really nice guy and I he always answers my emails.

I am in his online class, and it is a fun class. I enjoy Mr. Ball's teaching style. He has a great personality and is helpful. His tests are very hard; however, if you read the chapters carefully, you should be fine. I would recommend taking his class.

Great teacher. He does ramble, but his stories tie into whatever lesson being taught. To really pass the class you just need to read the book.

Dr. Ball is a great teacher. he is very enthusiastic about what he teaches. I enjoyed his stories because it helped me relate the class material to real life situations. You do have to look over the book and review your notes for the test, but no more than you would for any other class.

I took this class online. It wasn't completely terrible, but I found myself skipping forward in the lectures quite often because he would kind of stray away from the topic. Not a bad class though.

I would definitely recommend taking his class, especially if you are a psych major. Lectures are based on his experience as a psychologist which is helpful, but his notes will not benefit your studying other than an outline. Test questions come straight from textbook. Interesting class, I attended about 5 times and made an A

I love the way Dr. Ball teaches this course online. This was my second online course him and he provides great information both through the lectures and the lecture notes, not to mention the book. He is very willing to help, also.

I thought Dr. Ball was really helpful, he took the time to relate the material to real life examples. In my course the people that are complaining are the people that consistently have problems in their other courses too.

I've taken his class 3 times. All you have to do is read the textbook and you'll get an A on the tests. This is college, don't expect a study guide. I don't understand how he's getting so many bad reviews. All 3 classes were read the text = A on test, rarely listened to the lectures and do the discussion boards... that simple.

Professor Ball was organized, dedicated, and put a lot of effort into his online course. I loved it, he uses the book for everything so READ IT! He is willing to help in anyway so always ask questions. I didn't get the best grade but I liked the class! Id recommend him.

I took both PERSONALITY & PSYCHOPATHOLGY. He is very organized with his lectures, assignments, groups for discussion posts, and tests. We had several test and discussions; so a lot of opportunities to make a good grade. He lets you participate in the online lecture hours which is neat. He is helpful. I enjoy his class and you can tell he does too!

I do not understand ANY of the negative ratings - Culture and Psychopathology was AMAZING.
