In an online class both midterm and final are on campus (both UP and BBC - it's up to you). A lot of hard material but the professor is an easy grader and he is willing to help by proviging online evening hours to chat. Not demanding, but you have to be disciplined and read. :)

Great prof., concerned about your basic learning of Law. Just a mid-term and final, and if your well prepared, not terribly hard to get an A or B. Highly recommend, favorable grader, and keeps class interesting, and relatively short, which is a huge plus if your a full time student. I took this class in person, don't know about the online course.

Take this class with him in person. He is a real lawyer and knows so much about law that it will blow your mind. But he does keep it fairly simple and understandable for the sake of students who are just there to meet graduation requirements. He wants everybody to pass. Only gave two exams and usually made it fairly obvious what to expect.

One of the best profs at FIU! EXTREMELY helpful and accomodating. 2 exams 45-55% each, as long as you come to class and write down what he says, you should get a B very easily. Class are not boring, he knows the stuff AND usually lets us out earlier.Take him!

I'm taking Prof. Barman for Criminal Procedure and let me tell you; he is one of the best professors at FIU. If you're planning to go to law school after college, definitely take him. Very knowledgable, extremely helpful, and on top of everything he's a practicing lawyer. I am very happy I took his class regardless of what my grade ends up being.

I took 2 classes with Prof. Barman.(Crim Pro and CJE) He is an amazing professor! He is a practicing attorney so he really knows the material. He is very considerate of his students and always responds to emails and sticks to his word. Go to class and take notes and study, you'll do well. I got an A in both classes. He's GREAT!!

This Professor knows his materials. Allot of materials to cover. Approximately 10 chapters per test; one midterm and one final; no reviews so don?t expect to get one. You will learn allot from this class. You have to invest allot of time and start to study early and not the week before exam. Overall it?s a class where you will learn.

He's a great professor. He doesn't take attendence but you have to attend because a good portion of class discussions/examples are on the tests. There are only a midterm and final. If you read and go to class it should be a breeze.

On campus Midterm - Online Final, quiz every week, 5 discussions. Study the book thoroughly and you will pass with an A! I think he's the best BUL prof. out there. He takes his time to write back but he helps you out if you need it!

Took In-Person @ pines Center, VERY good at explaining terms and lecturing. Powerpoint slides very Helpful. Only 1 Midterm and 1 Final, so its a gamble. But I studied one week before each exam (about 7-10 chapters) and got a 90 on midterm and a 87 on final, which goes to show if u study, its EASY!

The class covers A LOT of material (2 Chs per week!). There is also a weekly quiz and two exams, 30% each, so this is not an easy class. However, I found Barman was an above average professor in person: excellent lecturer, very enthusiastic about teaching law, and even after reading the book there were other things to learn from him (this is rare).

I can't speak for the students taking his class online. But if you take it in person you will definitely learn a lot. He is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent communicator. Class is a bit challenging but nothing out of the norm.

Prof. Braman is very passionate about the subject he teaches. His lectures are interesting and he's very lenient. You have to do class discussions, about 5, based on materials covered in class. Weekly quizzes on each chapter which is not difficult at all. Attendance does count bc you use an iclicker to collect points. Also, the tests are fair/easy.

We had to take him remotely due to COVID but he showed up to Zoom classes in a different outfit and made class enjoyable to come too and learn about law, something that isn't so easy. Professor Barman truly does look out for his students especially in the middle of this pandemic. However, beware that this class does have A LOT of material so you really have to be prepared. Professor Barman goes above and beyond explaining the concepts of the class. The course can be easy, but you have to work for it. We had five discussion assignments, 6 quizzes, and 3 tests. His lectures can get lengthy, but he makes things interesting with poll questions so stay focused. The tests are the only assignments that are tricky.

David Barman is one of the best professors I have had. He genuinely cares about his students and his lectures are always interesting. He never failed to entertain us. He even had to switch to zoom for half the semester and would wear a fun costume for every class. The class consists of discussions, quizzes, and tests mainly based off his lectures.

The lectures are long, and there is a lot of content covered on the exams. You WILL NOT PASS THIS CLASS IF YOU DONT STUDY. There were 3 Exams, 6 Quizzes (weekly), and 5 Discussions. This a class that you have to study I recommend paying attention to all the cases and all examples that he gives in class they come up. He may be strict about certain things but he is a good professor. Solid choice you just have to trust the process tbh.Summer term more compressed material

Professor David Barman is one of the most amazing, inspirational, and fair instructors at FIU. He cares about his students. He is very professional. He does not allow students to approach him before/after class to protect student privacy. Communication is only by email. No big deal ..He responds to emails quickly. I strongly recommend him.

If you can follow instructions like an average person, you will pass. It's not that hard to listen to his requests. Tests and quizzes are strictly on what he says IN CLASS, if you do not show up, you will not pass. Will curve at the end of semester. Not very kind or informative when he replies to your emails but is straight to the point.

Not as awful some of the reviews make him out to be. He's very blunt and is a harsh grader but tells you EXACTLY what he's looking for. Tests are based on lecture examples- if you take him online you have an easy point of reference. No tolerance for late or incorrectly done assignments. Do the work, do it right, you'll be fine.

READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!! If you make the slightest error you will get a 0 for assignments. The class load is small, just discussions quizzes and exams. Tough grader but clear on expectations. Follow instructions carefully, as even small mistakes can cost you. Attend class, study the PowerPoints, and use resources like unstuck study to prep - you'll do well.

He is VERY strict about being on time for class (not even a minute late & he will be mean ab it) and his assignment deadlines/instructions, but the assignments themselves were easy imo. I think he is a fair grader as long as you follow instructions. Normally, class would end much earlier which I liked. Pretty rude but I didn't mind the class itself

Strict abt his class (syllabus is very important), and fast lectures, everything he says is on the quizzes/exams (exam 80% of grade). Fair grader, very blunt person but he's pretty decent. I like finishing class before the 2 hour mark.

Professor Barman is a great professor, he uses real examples about the law topics he talks about in his lectures. He is just very strict on deadlines since there is no makeups. Quizzes and Exams are on respondus lockdown, I highly recommend listening to his recorded lectures because what he says will be on the quiz/exam.

He is strict and expects students to follow instructions carefully for good grades. Pay close attention in class, as his lectures cover exam material. His lectures are informative, and he clearly knows his subject well. Stay focused and diligent, and you'll succeed in his class.

I was scared going into this course because of the reviews, but the professor isn't that bad. The workload of this course is not much, just discussions quizzes and 4 tests. The discussion posts were the easiest to do. Pay attention to the syllabus or calendar because it doesn't say when assignments are due in the to do area. The exams can be hard.

His lectures are fast, interesting and he makes it easy to understand. The test are weighted a bit heavy but if you do good on the other assignments which are easy you will pass. Test are 100% based on powerpoints and examples he mentions. BE ON TIME! He treats the class like the real world and will not let you in if you are late.

I understand the ratings for this professor but just understand that if you just DO the work and take the TIME to understand the context you will not do badly. Atleast a C guranteed if you just try.

This class was very easy. The only things you'll need to do for this class are the exams, quizzes, and show up to class ON TIME. 4 exams throughout the semester that aren't proctored, weekly WSJ quizzes that are very easy and attendance grade. Easy class, hard for you to fail. Class always ended early. Will prevent you from entering if you are late
