Berkovitz is the man! He has turned a dry subject like business law into a fun-filled discussion in every class. He is very clear and helpful at getting students to understand the material. If you're lucky, he brings donuts for the class.
great bus law teacher, clear and makes up fair tests, got a B and deserved one, definately a class worth taking
SO BORING!!! bring a pillow
Awesome teacher! Very structured and clear. Makes it easy to understand. Tests are funny. Even though the tests can be long, he is a fair grader. He is interested in you learning and not in boosting his ego. He has good insight and cares.

He is fair and easy that even though it was a class that needed a pillow, I got a B+ on the exam since he gave us his notes. I want my money back for his thick textbook that I never looked at!
Must take his class . meet once a week, supposedly 3 hour class but he lets us out an hour or half an hour early. He tries to be funny too, cusses every class
He's such a great teacher..He tries to make the material interesting and funny. The test is funny. He always let us get out from class earlier and sometimes,he gives us Krispy Kreme and candy. He's also caring. But, the class is sometimes boring though :o
Best teacher I've ever had in my life! Forever cussing and making the information fun. Who else makes test questions about Michael Jackson and Eminem!? He made me want to go to law school. MUST TAKE!
Probably the best teacher i've had yet.
AWSOME! There is no other way to describe this crazy ****. Take this class even if your not in Business, it is simply the best course ever with Prof B.
I think everyone else summed up my feelings towards Prof. B. Best prof. @ chapmand so far. More teachers should be like him.
This prof is awesome. Always keeps things interesting, gives us large amounts of sugar to keep us awake, and doesn't give any homework-well not yet :D
He is awesome!
This guy is the best professor at Chapman. Teaching is very clear and to the point, and when it isn't he doesn't care if you fall asleep. Keeps you interested in the subject. Very comical. Homework is optional, you really don't have to read, and everything is spelled out for you.
****ING AWSOME! BEST TEACHER EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. He really cares about his students. GReat teacher, but more importantly a great guy
He is the best professor I have ever had! He'll pick on you if you are in Greek life, but he is the best! He's very personal and giving... CANDY every class!!
awesome class, cares about his students greatly... tries to be funny and keep the class interested, amazing note packets are given to help keep the material clear... highly recommended
He is so sweet, would bring snacks for the class and one day bought pizza. Talk to him about your grade and he will try to help. Also you do not need to waste your money on buying the book or take notes in class, he gives you an outline with everything you need. He likes to swear and tell stories.
EXCELLENT TEACHER!! cares bout students, really funny too, hates the dean, exams are common sense, NEVER used my book, gives out outline of notes that are USEFUL
awesome guy. one of the most understanding teachers at chapman. talk to him... he'll listen. he cares so much. he makes business law fun, its not a tough class if u attend and put in the effort.
Prof. B is a ****ing awesome teacher(u will find out what I mean by that). Picks on the Dean, Sorority sisters and Accounting majors. Very helpful and understanding. Personalized tests will put your name on the test and stuff. Best thing no homework, or reading. Outline is awesome.
Really cool guy! Picks on you if you are in a sorority or accounting major. Was a lil tough becuase of Chapman's stupid business school curve, but definetly take the class. He usually ends class early and its really entertaining!
Hate the stupid curve which will throw you off into a lower grade. your grades depend on three tests and one quiz, which if you fell one test you are likely to fell the rest of the tests because you'll never know where is your mistakes. Hate the lectures and teaching method, but cool teacher though. Try not to take him for this class though.
You'll have to study for the tests for sure. Great teacher! Knows that you really dont want to be there so he tries to make it fun. Picks on you if you are in the Greek System. Good class, take it.
He is an amazing teacher! Anyone who is lucky enough to be in his class will learn a lot and not have to work too hard! Do not bother to buy the book...his outlines are sufficient! Berkovitz will have you laughing the whole time...he is hilarious! ***k the dean!!!
great teacher really nice
I swear, this professor is freaking LEGIT. Amazing teaching style - uses real life examples putting the students themselves into context. Very humorous, great lectures - the ones that are spontaneous, yet structured and doesn't use lame powerpoint or overhead notes. Down to earth + REALLY cares about his students. Great class regardless of major!!
Great guy. His class is hilarious, there is no homework. He gives you an outline you can use(he says in tandem with the book, but i never opened mine). Three tests... he does grade on a curve, but he likes giving high grades and looks for ways to give you points. I wish he would teach another class so i could have him again. Best teacher i have had
he's the greatest teacher I've ever had. I love him and his passion for teaching.
AWESOME, amazing teacher. He makes law interesting for everyone. Lectures can get boring but he understands and tries to make them interesting, using real world examples, etc. Exams are MC + essays, not hard but consider reading the book for MC help. Outlines are VERY helpful, MEMORIZE them for tests. Great class, made me want to study law.
Best teacher i've ever had. he is awesome and always there if you need help. I definitely recommend taking this teacher he will help you in life!
Class itself not *that* easy if you want the higher grades. But even if you don't crack a book at all, his lectures and outlines are super helpful-MEMORIZE THEM, as mentioned. Not clear at all about how he grades, or what he will test on, which annoyed me a little. But personality wise, he's the KINDEST, NICEST teacher ever. :3
Most inspiring professor I've had at Chapman! He is a teacher I will never forget. Makes class really fun and interesting.
probably one of the best teachers i've ever had. he's a great person and you'll learn alot.
One of my favorite professors at Chapman. He really cares about his students and you learn a lot. I did not open my book once and still got a good grade in the class. Pay attention to the outlines he gives and take notes to what he says will be on the test and you will do fine.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! He cares a lot about his students and he is always willing to help with the material. His lectures are great and really engaging! He is probably the best professor I've ever had, take his class!!
I wouldn't recommend taking this class over interterm. 4 hours of business law is incredibly boring. However, Berkovitz makes it as funny as possible. He really cares about his students and makes an effort to make sure everyone understands the material. Even if you don't need BUS215, try to meet Professor B; he's a brilliant person.
One of the most inspirational, amazing, and hilarious professors I have had at Chapman! He truly cares about his students, and goes above and beyond to help them out. The class is extremely entertaining- I loved going to it! The tests are a bit difficult, but if you know the outline backwards and forwards you should do fine.
Great lectures, and really funny. Makes potentially complicated subject matter extremely easy to understand, and he really cares about his students' well-being. One of the last few truly great professors left. Loved this class.
Great lectures, and tests are mostly from lecture material. Assigned reading, but very few test questions from it. Berkovitz is an awesome guy, and really seems to care about his students. Highly recommended.
Berkovitz is a great teacher and he really cares about his students. If you are shooting for an A, you definitely have to work for it because of the curve he uses. His outlines are very helpful, but I still used the book a lot because I had trouble focusing in class. Tests are straight forward and there's no homework!
hilarious guy
Awesome professor! Inspirational guy who takes the time to go the extra mile. Cares about his students and adds in lots of humor to the dry material. Loved this class, super easy if you pay attention. Tests are all based off of the lecture.
BEST PROFESSOR! Super knowledgeable and truly cares about his students! Even though Berkovitz is a GREAT professor, the class is extremely difficult because of the curve. You will learn the material but it takes a lot to get an A in the class. Overall, great professor and great class.
Professor Berkovitz is awesome. He is able to keep the class pretty darn interesting with crazy and wacky true stories where a legal situation arose. He's got a great dry sense of humor, gives the class wonderful life advice and is very open to helping and mentoring students. He was one of my favorite teachers in college.
AMAZING!!!!!!!! TAKE HIM NOWW!!!
Not only one of the best professors I've ever met in my life, but one of the best HUMANS I've ever met, period. Take this class whether or not you are even a business major, just to be in the presence of such an inspirational man.
This guy is one of the greatest human beings I've ever met. Even though I was (and still am) the pit of most of his jokes throughout the semester, he is such a nice guy and will pull you aside and talk to you to congratulate you on your achievements or ask how he can help you. TAKE THIS CLASS
Outstanding. Take this class if you hate law or love law. You will learn (if you go to class) and enjoy it. Berkovitz is a really great person and cares about his students. You don't get that all too often in college. In class lectures are more voluntarily interactive and entertaining/interesting. You will absolutely not regret taking his class.
For a attorney, Berkovitz is a silly man. He has his favorites and may never call on you, but I cannot complain that he isn't fair or nice. He gives study packets which is far easier than reading the book, and puts more points on the essays. Honestly if you focus on the essay and do average of the mc, you can still pass....
I love Berkovitz! Takes dull content and does his best to make it interesting. He'll jokingly picks on the same people in class. Group project had unclear instructions, but he ultimately is an understanding and fair grader so all that mattered was effort. Tests are very fair, especially when he gives the best study guides I've gotten at CU.
He's absolutely amazing!!! He's the reason I'm considering going to law school - his lectures are fun and interactive and he takes a seemingly dull subject and makes it very fun!! He makes his tests almost feel like "games" in a way - I recommend him to all my friends who haven't taken B-Law yet - great professor!!! TAKE HIM!!!
best teacher i have ever had at chapman. by far the most helpful, resourceful, and actually knows what he is doing. take his classes and you will not regret it.
Great professor! Has a really dark and dry sense of humor that I loved. He really makes an effort to make legal concepts understandable to accounting students. He understands that accounting students are taking a lot of classes at once so he does not make the class crazy difficult but still rewards students who show up and study hard.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFS! he truly cares about his students and whether or not they understand the material. This was my favorite class to go to, his lectures are so funny and he really gets the class to participate. he puts his lecture outlines up on blackboard, and that's basically his test, however go to class because his examples are helpful
Super interesting guy. He is a lawyer which was nice since this is an introduction to business-law course. However, the textbook is very dry, and he really does test you from subjects in the book. He is funny, but it throws you off because he acts carefree and then you have to study super hard for this class.
If you're searching up Prof. Berkovitz on rate my professors because you're debating between him and another professor... TAKE BERKOVITZ. He is by far the funniest professor I've ever had. He recognizes hard work and actually cares about his students' success. I've had a close relationship with him and he has helped me so much with jobs, life, etc.
He's hysterical, and gives examples that make you really understand the subject matter. I would definitely take him again. He's the best professor to learn law from, despite the material being a little dry he manages to make it fun. I've yet to go to a class of his that I haven't cracked up in. He's also really caring and learns everyone's names.
Very clear and interesting lectures! You really don't need to take notes in his class, just listen. BUS 215 is not a difficult class: 2 midterms and a final.
Only 2 midterms and a final. If you mess up one, be prepared to loose any chance of a good grade. Besides that it's like having stand-up comedy for 2 hours, this guys is fun to be around.
TAKE BERKOVITZ! There are minimal grades (2 midterms and a final), but the tests are not hard as long as you read the assigned chapters and listen in class. That being said, this was probably my favorite class I've taken at Chapman, Professor Berkovitz uses a lot of real world examples, keeps the class engaged, and is quite hilarious!
Berkovits is a very funny prof. Im taking his class once a week for 3 hours. He integrates comedy in all of his lectures so the longevity of the class goes quick. He has a group assignment where you pick an estate and try to convince him to invest in it and you add onto it each class, tests are easy and he doesnt grade harsh.
The entire grade is only comprised of 2 tests and a final, so if you're not a good testtaker, good luck. He is extremely funny, but makes REPEATED jokes about Fraternities and Sororities. It was funny at first, but now it gets a little annoying. His lectures are very informative and he knows what he's talking about but can get very hard to follow.
grades on how much he likes u. u get 1 question wrong, then its automatically a B. Then you get a B on 1 exam, then there's no chance of getting anything higher than a B in his class. good luck. Take Jolly!!!!
Loved this guy. He is super funny and if you meet with him outside of class he goes out of his way to really get to know you. Instead of memorizing terms he has you learn how to use them. The tests aren't that scary .
Nothing but lecture but David makes it interesting with his jokes and made-up scenarios. Make sure to read the book and pay attention to get a good grade. Tests include a lot of writing and there's no homework except to read the book.
This professor is very unique and hilarious. There are only two exams and a final for your grade. Do not be fooled, this class is very difficult and the exams are basically all graded on writing. It is a law class with countless terms and requires a lot of studying and reading the book. The fun lectures are definitely worth it though.
Worst Professor I have encountered while at Chapman. He thinks he is hilarious with his small little comments and life stories. I did not learn a single thing from attending his class, but I did learn a lot from the book/packets he hands out. Not once in the actual class period does he teach you about Business Law. DO NOT TAKE
He is the reason why I transferred out of chapman. His multiple choice is literally 10 questions taken out of ANYWHERE in the book (literally - as HW you are supposed to create MCQ). For the written section if you get ONE wrong you will get a B for the entire exam. If you get one B on an exam, your final grade will be a B.
A king so funny yes law is boring but he makes it fun just pay attention
Professor Berkovitz is super hilarious and engaging. You have to attend his class but you will definitely look forward to it. The material is sometimes difficult and you must study hard to do well. Take his class! He's awesome!!!
Great professor and great and funny guy, however his grades are based off 2 exams and a final and it's very hard to get an A on them. Tends to play favorite by using the same people in his scenarios so if you want a good grade, then participate. Also a little quiet so it's hard to hear him sometimes. Some days are slow, some are quick
Great guy, super funny and not shy with jokes which makes the lectures engaging. However, you're only graded by 2 midterms and the final and you have to read the super boring textbook on your own time if you want a good grade. You have to study the notes (which he makes for you) and read the textbook but you actually end up learning the material.
Favorite Chapman professor! Very entertaining. Super test heavy - 2 midterms and a final - but don't let that fool you. As long as you stay engaged in class, take notes, and stay on top of the reading material, you'll be fine. He also gives out his written lecture notes that help for studying. Exams are mostly based on essay questions.
Dr. Berkovitz is the best Professor I have had at Chapman. His way of teaching is extremely effective because he uses man real life examples to help you understand the material. He rarely gives homework because the class time is very crucial to learning material. Dont skip this class or else you will be confused. Hes also funny and very engaging.
Professor Berkovitz is probably one of the best professors at Chapman. Let him know who you are and your life story. Makes jokes throughout any of his classes. This is the second time having him as a prof and I would love to have him again. Such a great guy and gives great advice. HIGHLY recommend.
I genuinely love this man. I took his class at 7 PM for 3 hours on Mondays, and somehow I was still excited to go to his class. Not the easiest grader, but his lectures keep you alive and your stomachs hurting from laughter. If you go into his office hours for help, he'll give you hints as much as he can on the next test material! 10/10 recommend
I took business law over interterm so the course was based on a study guide/notes, case studies, and exams. The material is interesting to learn about and the tests are hard, but Berkovitz makes it enjoyable. He is HILARIOUS! Take the time to go to office hours or talk one on one, even if you don't have any questions. Would definitely recommend!
This guy is wonderful. Hes very nice, and he makes jokes to get us to feel relaxed. Hes a great teacher, and you will learn a lot with him. It isnt a very difficult class even though there is a lot of material, his teaching method makes it a breeze. Take this professor if you can you will not regret it.
I thought this class was going to be boring but it was actually my favorite class of the semester. He made jokes and related all the content to real life, which made it easy to learn. Reading the textbook and taking notes helps a ton. You're almost entirely graded on tests which apply the concepts in short answers. STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING
Favorite Professor at Chapman so far. Very interesting subject matter that keeps you engaged. The way he teaches the material keeps you interested the whole time. He also is a pretty funny dude and gives some good life lessons you can really learn from.
Good at teaching, really personable. Graded based on 3 exams, all writing (expect to be writing for the whole class). Pretty strict on the grading but he puts aside a whole session for review. He doesn't lecture with any visuals but sends a powerpoint out at the end of the unit. I wish he'd just teach with it so it'd be easier to follow along.
My favorite class at Chapman. Berkovitz is super engaging and hilarious in his teaching methods. Use the notes he provides to study for exams. Tricky stuff but reviewing what he gives you will set you up well. Textbook is helpful for mastering the content but not necessary. Very caring and wants the best for students. Highly recommend taking him.
My favorite professor at Chapman so far. Amazing lectures and sense of humor. Class is graded on 2 midterms and a final. He grades extremely tough but I have learned so much about the subject and every lecture was something to look forward to.
terrible professor, dont take him if you want to fail.
Amazing Professor! I would definitely recommend. you would assume this class was boring but it keeps it fun and interesting. Highly recommend if you go to class and pay attention you will do just fine!
Berkovitz is the best professor I have ever had, he makes class fun and I always left feeling like I had learned a lot while also having had a good laugh. He takes time to connect with students and goes out of his way to be engaging. This is not an easy class by any means and he is a hard grader, but you get so much more out of it than a grade.
Highly recommend taking a course with professor Berkovitz! Just be warned that he does base your grade entirely on 3 exams. However, he does a great job of preparing you for each of them. Lectures are always super fun and engaging, and he also provides very helpful advice for matters outside of course material.
His lectures were entertaining and I feel I learned a lot from his class. His test are hard. I felt rushed and unable to write everything I needed to. On top of that he is a tough grader. But as long as you pay attention in class and use the correct terminology, you will do well. Overall he is a nice and funny guy and makes his class enjoyable.
This man is the actual Goat. Incredibly humorous but articulates/conceptualizes law really well so you can understand it. 3 tests, thats your grade. Pro tip: Print out notes like he tells you to and bring them to class and follow along with him, thats how I did really well. Cannot go wrong with this guy, wish I could take another class with him.
One of the most entertaining teachers in my academic career. Makes seemingly boring topics very interesting and he's sure to keep your attention in class. You need to go to class, you need to study for tests, because your whole grade is dependent on tests. However, he'll make all of the test material crystal clear to you on review days.
Berkovitz is a funny professor, and it makes up for how monotonous his lectures can be. I had him for a 3 hour night class, so it was a little boring. He does let the class out an hour early. Class is based on two midterms and a cumulative final, all SAQs. He gives notes but listen to lectures and read to help boost your chances to pass the class.
I would take this class every semester if possible. Professor Berkoitz makes these concepts easy to understand and how to apply them which comes in handy on the midterms. Only 2 midterms and a final, but if you show up, you will succeed. His office hours are really helpful as well. Love this class and would definitely recommend!
Awesome professor, super funny and class is chill. No homework. Only thing is that his voice puts me to sleep every class. He's not boring, but his voice literally makes me fall asleep.
His lectures are good, but the class is just very difficult. You need to pay attention to everything he says and know everything on the notes and what he writes on the board. He is a very hard grader, you need near perfection to receive an A. At the end of the day though, he is effective and a great teacher.
By far the most entertaining class ever as well as informational. I love being in his class, unfortunately your grade is solely based on tests. It is extremely hard to do well on his tests by his standards. I always went and asked for help and he would tell me that I seem to know everything and then proceed to get a C on his tests. So funny though.
Berkovitz's Bus215 was very entertaining because of who he is and the stories he tells to keep the class interesting and applicable. The only grades are the 3 tests which are closed notes and he's a tough grader. I would take Jolly's class, it seemed like she grades easier than Berkovitz.
If you will show up to class and take tests well, should end in B range. def favorite teacher in 3 semesters at chapman, but 90% of grade is midterms and tests. never read from the book once.
Great professor and a super fun class. If you have to take Business Law definitely take it with him
prof B was great. however, if you do not show up to class, be prepared to be super lost during class. grade is based on one midterm, one final, and 10% participation. gives great lectures and provides notes prior to each unit. super helpful when students have questions. just come to class :)
Worst professor I have ever had
Professor Berkovitz keeps the class entertaining, though the course is challenging. Tests are the only grades, so attending lectures and using resources like Unstuckstudy for review are key. He's a tough grader, but an effective teacher who makes the material engaging.
Prof B is amazing. The class is hard, but he is very straightforward with what will be on the exams. You get graded based off two midterms, participation (only 10%) and a final so tests matter. He made the lectures interesting and used a lot of good examples and fact patterns.
This professor was honestly one of the best I've had at Chapman so far. He made the class very interesting and was humorous with his lectures which kept students engaged and really helped to grasp the materials and think for yourself. This class requires you to think critically about the subject, and he really helps facilitate this growth. 10/10
You're only graded on two midterms and a final. you really need to grasp the concepts and have a solid memory and understanding in order to do well on the exams. every exam gave me so much anxiety because of how much pressure there was to do well on them in order to just pass the class. he has engaging lectures, but you still need to study A LOT.
