Super solid! Super comfortable with his material. Super smart and clear, makes you interested. It is a shame that he is not a full blown instructor for I think he drives you to a solid interest in physics.(even at 8am)

His first time teaching the physic B lec-and it was summer. He really has so much knowledge, even outside physics; hes funny & friendly. He would go over details in his office hours that class time did not allow for. He went MORE THAN out of his way to help out students who asked for it. His (3) exams were difficult, but the material is what it is.

Berk is awesome. In PHYS 100AL he was not only relaxed and funny but everything he taught made sense the first time he said it, so I wanted to take PHYS 100B with him. It was his first time teaching that class and he made it interesting and easily comprehensible. He was ALWAYS available to help and extended his office hours all the time for us.

Berk is a really fantastic prof for 100B. I got a B in 100A and managed an A in 100B. I had him during the summer session and he was extremely helpful. He wants you to understand concepts instead of memorizing how to do a prob. His tests consist of conceptual questions (no numbers involved) and problem solving. He's hilarious too. Great guy.

A truly amazing professor who actually takes the time to teach you the material in a way you won't forget. Especially helpful for MCAT prep. Class felt more like a discussion than a typical dictatorship-style lecture. I won't lie: exams are tough (conceptual-based rather than plug-and-chug) but doable if you study. Hands-down the best physics prof!

Professor Berk is by far the greatest professor I have ever had. The material is difficult, but Berk walks you through it as if it was basic arithmetic. All jokes aside, Professor Berkowitz is hands down the best professor at CSUN. He puts in so much extra time just to help his students. The course is difficult I'm not going to lie, but again he gives so much extra help there's absolutely no way someone can't pass the course. Also, attendance isn't mandatory. Trust me take him, you wont regret!!!

He's a great teacher and is always willing to help, he really understands the students perspective which is important for physics. If you go to class, write down his examples and understand the conceptual analysis questions, you'll pass. He's also great about meeting with you and giving you extra help if needed.

Berk is AWESOME! If you hate math, take him he will make it 100x easier, and he's so funny. The only teacher who has no filter and that you can text any time that I've ever met. He grades EXTREMELY fair. He will even help you with other math classes. I will definitely be taking him for physics! GO BERK!

Top notch professor! teacdhes you in such a manner where its interesting and easy to understand plus he very approachable. I would suggest reading the text heavily it helps breakdown difficult concepts and his exams arent exaclty easy but if you do your reading and attend class theyll seem easy definetly recommend him for 220b!

Take him, take him, take him. His tests don't produce high grades, but he is more than fair when adjusting grades overall. Also, very helpful, very entertaining, and very funny. I would recommend him to everyone!

There's no getting around the fact that this is a tough subject, but Berk is great. Answers questions by email, phone, in person, by smoke signal, etc. He also gives huge amounts of partial, but you need to study hard and ask questions to do well. Don't have to attend class, but not doing so is a huge mistake, cuz you'll really fall behind.

This was my second time taking this course because my first professor wasn't any good at teaching. Professor Berk was a really good teacher, who knew what he was teaching and how to help you understand it rather than memorize everything. He was very helpful and encouraged everyone to come to his office hours, which helped a lot.

I took this class in the winter because I was repeating it. We did the course in a total of 2 1/2 weeks. I was happy to have a teacher like him since he was one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He was really funny and helped you understand the steps and want to learn. I got an A in the class! Make time to do the work! In the end it counts

The best professor I have ever had! David Berkowitz is a genius! He makes everything so clear and relative to real life that you'll contemplate switching your major to physics, I know I did. I wish I could take more courses with this professor. If you can take him then you 100% should.

I was pretty nervous about taking Calculus in college but it has to be said.. Berkowitz is one of the best!!! He's beyond helpful and is EXTREMELY fair and has one truly funny sense of humor! He has normal casual conversations with students before class and we'll get to the bottom of any question asked! Would love to take him for Physics!

First class I took with him and even though he goes quick, he's a fantastic professor. Very helpful when you need it and you can text him! I wouldn't mind going to a bar with him either. I'll miss going to his class every other day. Almost forgot! He's pretty funny too! (make movie and TV show references, he's a huge movie and TV fan)

Tough subject, but he is a straight forward person.Just do the work,read the book front to back, and attend class.His test are very easy and straight forward if you have a basic understanding of the subject.I found that out after he reviewed the test in class.Grades very fair.

Physics is obviously a tough subject, but Berk does a great job at explaining the material. He is also very fair and extremely helpful. Definitely recommend taking this class.

I rated him a 4 in easiness because his tests don't push too far into the difficult stuff. Don't let that fool you though, you can't coast through this class. Studying is mandatory. Overall he is a great teacher who is clear in his instruction and easy to get along with. I would definitely take him again.

220B could have been a rough class, but Berk made it relatively easy. He teaches you what you need to know and his notes are very concise. Take good notes, read the book, attend every class and review session, and work hard. You might actually enjoy physics after taking one of his classes.

Berk reminds me of Ernst Hemmingway. He is a boxer, a bull fighter, and a borderline genius. However, 220B requires a great imagination in order to truly understand the material, but with that being said, it is all formulas so anyone can pass it. By the way, Berk's curve at the end is huge

Really good teacher. Great at explaining the material, helpful, and funny. The quizes and tests are more or less based on the homework. This class is somewhat challanging, but he does grade on a curve. If you do your homework and study you'll be fine. Highly recommended!

Berk is awesome. He's the first math prof I've had that doesn't make you want to fall asleep in class due to boredom, yet is still very serious and you learn something. He tests on things we've covered in class or in the HW, so no surprises.

Great professor, tests are more conceptual than math based. That doesn't mean you can skip that, you MUST understand all the material. No tricks, easy to approach and talk to, always raise your hand if you know the answer even if you doubt yourself just try. He will give you a better grade the more effort you SHOW even if you are failing. 50%=C!!!

My First Time attending class in an auditorium and it was a Good one. He is a very amusing and smart professor, His work on the board is so Godly, he turns a simple class session into a religious cult gathering (Based on Physics). He makes our learning environment very comfortable and his curves are very reasonable. It has been an honor learning.

Berk is da bomb. The man simply gets how to teach things to people. Physics, however, is a tough class. You can probably get a decent grade without learning too much, though, since he curves based on the entire class' performance. TL;DR: good prof., physics hard, curve good, can get A.

This course was extremely tough. But Berk really knew his stuff. He also has a sense of humor. He curves the grade like there's no tomorrow! Really put your time into this class and ask him questions because he is willing to answer it with full explanation. Glad I took him, but wish I had done better.

Professor Berkowitz is by far the most caring and supportive professor at CSUN. PHYS 100B was a very rigorous course but Professor Berk made it manageable. Not only was he ALWAYS available to answer questions after class, but he was also ALWAYS there to just talk to me to help me not give up. He's an amazing professor!

I have had the pleasure to take Proff Berkowitz for both physics A and B. He is extremely intelligent, helpful, goes above and beyond to ensure student success (if he sees you're trying obviously) and he's hilarious so class is enjoyable to attend. Exams are 20 MC questions. If you truly know the material it shouldnt be too difficult. Recommend!!!

Took this course as a summer class so he gave tons of homework but it was helpful when it came to tests. Tests were easy as long as you paid attention. Lectures for about 15- 20 minutes and the rest was groupwork. Good professor overall

Cool guy, most important thing is the homework, if you can do the homework then the midterms and the final are easy. always ready to help and explain stuff during office hours.

His course is a bit difficult but that is understandable when taking a high level of mathematics. He give you his phone number to text him when you need help, he is by far one the best professors at this university. Pay attention and study up, he makes his tests tricky which is what was challenging. Take the course if you want to learn.

Professor Berkowitz is awesome. He is one of the most brilliant professor I have taken and his classes are enriching and entertaining. He is involved with his students who show interest in the class, and is a very fair grader. Homework is optional which is great bc it gives serious students a great opportunity to separate themselves from the pack.

Doing the Homework is essential in understanding the course. During office hours he is more than happy to explain the math homework as well the proofs.

All I can say is that Berk is a great professor and an awesome friend. He really wants his students to succeed. I have taken him for Math 102, Math 250, and Math 341 and I got an A in all three. Mind you that his classes are not easy but if you work hard, do all the homework and go to office hours, you will pass the class.

Berk is the nicest guy you will ever meet! His classes are not easy going to lie. Las semester, was one of the hardest semesters of my life, and because of berk I was able to stick it through, His knowledge of Mathematics and Physics is superior, and he is one of the few professors who enjoy and are happy to be in the classroom at CSUN.

He is tough. He's tests are hard and he doesn't give students enough time to fully solve the tests but he cures the grades so if you are smarter and work harder than most students you'll pass and might even get a good grade. He wants students to think rather than just plug in numbers into formulas. He cares about attendance more than anything.

Three tests and the final. All the tests were allowed one double sided cheat sheet. Material is very hard so attend every class and take notes! The tests are based off the notes. Homework also helps understand the material but the mastering physics program was really expensive. Tests are hard but he curves so it helps. He sometimes has extra credit

E A S Y. 3 exams (easy& short esp. if you know the information). Mandatory homework by mastering physics which I believe is why I passed. Allowed a full page cheat sheet. I have NO idea how I passed with a B, didn't attend lecture after the 2nd class and didn't pass any of his test. He curves the class based on the class average. TAKE HIM.

This class is NOT an easy A. I worked extremely hard and received an A in this class. For reference, I got a B in PHYS 100A. Berkowitz is HILARIOUS and makes a difficult class entertaining while still teaching. He takes his grading seriously and makes you work for it -- meaning study hard -- but if you do, it will pay off.

The funnest class I have ever taken. He always throws jokes in the class and he is hilarious. Great teacher in general. He teaches the material clearly, if you listen and practice, you will pass the class with at least a B. I wish he gave study guides and let you bring cheat sheets like other Math103 classes. Up to 5% attendance extra credit.

Berk has a math background and shows it at every lecture. The exams are curved but are still extremely difficult. syllabus needs specific exam dates and a timeline of topics with chapters/sections covered. Engages with students for every lecture. lots of material, then again it's summer physics...

Physics is a challenging subject. Not impossible to get an A but you will have to put in work. Read the book and practice problems out of the book. He gets his test questions from other physics book but those books haven't changed too much. Do the homework and attend lecture. cheat sheet allowed for every exam. Curves based on class grades.

I think his tests are a lot more challenging then what he actually reviews in class, but thats just me. I studied day and night for this class constantly reading the book but I still didn't do as well as I hoped. That being said I did a hell of a lot better than most students in the class and the curve saved my a$$. He's amazing take him.

When I entered his class, it was not going to be an easy class because he actually led us to learn what physics is which means you have to read the book, solve the problems, and understand the concept. If you don't put effort, you will get F for sure. However, he makes fun jokes and is the very fun guy, so you will not get board. Highly recommend!!

Great Professor, very passionate about his subject and funny too. His tests are difficult, but are designed to challenge your learning and skill. Special curves adjust for this difficulty however and allow the mildly interested student to still pass as long as they put in some effort. Getting an A in his course however is not an easy task.

Professor Berkowitz is awesome! His lectures are very clear, and he always takes time to answer even the dumbest questions. He's hilarious, reasonable, and cares about his students. His exams are easy as long as you know the material. I usually finished in 5-10 minutes with an A. DON'T SKIP CLASS! If you miss, you'll lose your shot at an A!

To prepare for exam: do some end-of-chapter problems (each difficulty level) and do each problem from class over again. Physics is hard but he really wants you to do well.

Berk is a phenomenal professor, he moves quickly through his lectures but will meet with you at your convenience if you're struggling. His lectures are clear and his tests are easy, so long as you do the homework and show up to class. Berk was a blast to take, he managed to make math easy and somewhat enjoyable.

Absolutely hilarious, and makes you hate math just a little bit less. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you can earn up to five points of extra credit for attending. All MATH103 classes have the same requirements so you can't hate him specifically for how the grades work--he just makes it easier for you. Definitely would take again!

You'll be lucky if you find a seat in his class! This guy understands math in and out! When he teaches the concept, you will get it because he knows how to teach! Hated math, now love it! He made me realize how math is fundamental for keeping the brain healthy! Probably the smartest teacher I've ever had in my college career.

You should definitely take this professor. He is really funny and makes the class something you wanna go to. He teaches the subject super clearly. The tests are not hard at all. Took him for 103 last semester and loved him. Currently in his stats140 class, and i'm so glad I had him again. Really knows what he is talking about, and goes over anything you don't understand. He's super easy to talk to, and I never had problems asking for help. Curves tests which is helpful because stats can be tricky. 10/10 take him!!

This professor was my favorite. He is very funny and he's really good at what he does. There is quite a bit of homework but he extends it if you need more time.
