Mr. Besst is a really good teacher. He will do all he can to help you pass the FEE. His homework is not hard at all and a big percentage of your grade are the practice FEE's, which are done in class. I also thought he was kind of funny.

Mr. Besst was so cool! He made the material very easy to learn. He wanted everyone to do well and he made sure of that. I probably would have never passed the FEE without him as my teacher!! And he was funny too!

Mr. Besst makes the class fun but teaches you how to write on the college level. I never knew this stuff before but he was very clear about what to do.

Very hard to get an A in that class though. 75% of your grade is based on the practice F.E.E.'s you take. The grades he gives you in your practice f.e.e.'s are most likely going to be your grades that you will get in the real F.E.E.

This class is hard. You must attend the class and do all the homework. He gives like 5 practice fees and you must read what he writes and that is the key. The handouts are great because you can take them to the fee. The fee is just another paper at the end of the year so it is not that bad. I would recommend taking him again.

If you want to pass the fee, I suggest taking this class. Not at all hard and very clear on what he's talking about.

This professor is serious about his subject and knows the importance of good writing skills that are necessary throughout our college careers. I now feel prepared to write whatever I am asked and am no longer afraid/embarressed by my writing abilities...thanks to Mr. Besst. Was on waitlist for this one, was worth the gamble!

Great teacher! Getting a b- thus far in the class. I'm awaiting the dreded FEE but I feel im prepared. Gives lots of hand outs, drops lowest scores, extra credit, and great feedback on graded work. I have improved a lot. Dont miss class read the assigned readings, and do your journals, always announces the pop quiz an tells you what to study.

He repeats himself alot. He tries to be funny, which works sometimes. I enjoyed the class. he drops some low grades at the end if you pass the FEE. If you're bad at in class esseys, this class is not for you.

Professor Besst was really the best! He helped me go from a 3/4 essay to a solid 6 by the end of the semester. He gives a lot of work, but it is easy. I got an A for the class, and I hate homework. He is also very funny! (in his own way) Just to the work and look at the comments he writes in the essays because he gives great feedback.

BESST! this guy is amazing! he keeps you awake & alive during english (funny jokes, & stories) Yes you must do the work, its do-able, attendance is a MUST, keep up with the readings. Mr Besst was one of the best english teachers i've ever had. No pun intended. Just a great guy with a good sense of humor. Work consisted of take easy take home essays, grammar worksheets/quizzes, and quizzes on the short stories from 75 readings. Lots of group work, some online work but that was baby stuff. Syllabus changed often. Take this man!!!

The best English professor I have ever had. Helps you understand everything he teaches very well and clearly. Plus he is hilarious. Quizzes are on lectures/readings, if you keep up with the readings the class will be easy. Highly recommend taking him if you are scared to take English because you dread it like me! Actually makes the 2 hours fly by.

Mr. Besst is truly the best!! I passed his ENGL B50 class like nothing with an easy A. When I took his English class, it was in fall 2010. He would talk about his cat Mr. Bates and his life in college. He would be funny and outgoing; thus, he would do all that while teaching the material and doing an excellent job. He was very helpful and knew what he was doing. He helped me a lot!! Thank you Mr. Besst for the great help. Thanks to that, I've become an awesome writer!

I just took him for summer school and he was a really good teacher. All the quizes were easy if u kept up with the reading. Very funny, and text books are cheep. Test are open book and notes. Very helpful lets you redue papers if you see him in his office.

Great teacher, funny and very helpful if you ask questions. Reading books are cheap. You can always revise a paper if you see him first. Quiz are easy,exams are open book and you can use all notes. He is very helpful and funny! I enjoyed taking his Eng B50 class.

Mr. Besst is a great instructor assignments are clearly stated and he gives you the tools necessary to succeed in the class. Show up take notes ( that you can use on tests and quizzes) and read the material and passing grade is a given.

He's super EASY and laid back ! He gives quizzes on every chapter but he gives you the answers if you pay attention to his lectures. His grading style on essays is great! He gives you the opportunity to redo an essay if you have received a low score on it and gives you up to a 10% higher grade if you do so. He makes time fly by fast in his class.

I love Professor Besst, he explained what he was asking and was always there for you. Lectures go by quickly, 1 minute class started next its been an hour and time for a break. There our a lot of quizzes, but if you read the books you will do just fine.

This professor is great, he's really friendly and very funny and doesn't make any moment awkward. he is very easy to understand and picks great topics to learn. i'm in the service so I appreciate he picks meaningful and educated topics.

he's super helpful and very laidback!There are 2 essays.750 words and 1,000 words. Both books are based on the Vietnam war. they're interesting. he explains EXACTLY what to write on the essays. easy multiple choice quizzes on books. the final is multiple choice and lets us use notes. allows extra credit through out the whole semester.

He really cares about his students succeeding in this course making it easy to improve your writing skills. The main things in the class are the essays. As long as you do well in the essays, you will easily pass the course. He is a very nice guy, and the topics he chooses are interesting. I def recommend David Besst. He is the BESST!

English is not my favorite subject but he makes it very interesting and easy to understand. He gives tons of examples and helps on anything people need help on. He is a very nice guy and is easy to approach when you need additional help. He offers extra credit and keeps the class interesting. Just show up, read and do the work and you'll pass.

I highly recommend this prof. He goes over most of the homework assignments in class, so it will be very clear what you have to do for the assignments. He offers feedback, essay revisions and is very descriptive in his fun lectures. For book use, just buy or rent the reading books and keep up with the reading. Dont be lazy and stay ahead, easy A

Kinda burnt I got a B, yet tried really hard for an A. Anyway, I learned so much in this class! You learn how to use commas, semicolons, singular/plural words, apostrophes, and so much more. This class made my college papers go from C's to A's. He takes his time teaching you proper English. Definitely recommend!

Sometimes he gives the opportunity to use open book (Textbook) and notes. Show up and you will pass and possibly get extra credit.
