Biddle is an outstanding math teacher. Offered great insight into topics in calc 2 that most professors would breeze over, like a derivation of rulers formula in multiple ways. He appreciates math, not just teaches it.
Biddle loves math and his love for this subject really shows. His passion for the subject comes onto the students and truly cares about each of them. He teaches calculus very well and tries to make you understand the fundamental nature of the subject. He is a great Professor.
A great man. Take this professor if you want to have a good time in Binghamton Calc.
Best course I've taken at this school by far. Biddle knows his stuff and is with you all the way.
David is the best professor I've had at Binghamton. I would take any math class with him. He's very caring and helpful and accessible outside of class. He makes math really fun and interesting.
Biddle is the best teacher I have ever had for any subject in Binghamton. He is caring, sweet, respectful, and a wonderful person overall. He truly cares about each and every student, and is willing to spend hours with you until you understand the material. I highly recommend taking any class with him, he will make sure you pass!
Third time taking this course, FINALLY got a teacher who goes out of their way to give great feedback.
Third time this horrible class, Biddle is the best.
One of the best, take something with him. Few work as hard, makes everything so clear.
Biddle worked with me every week, I stink at math but went from a D to a B+. Above and beyond, nice guy.
Dr Biddle subbed for a month in complex variables and things finally made sense. Instead of just reading problems from the book like some other profs, he engaged the entire class. Likes to give the history of the subject too which was nice for a math class!
Actually returns work unlike other teachers. Class discussion is less lecture and more conversation.
Just because attendance isn't mandatory you don't want to miss these classes especially if you want to succeed. Was nervous about this course and TBH didn't like this type of math (I'm actuarial), there's a lot of writing involved. Take 330 with Biddle
A lot of work, doesn't really use the textbook but gives good notes. Take this class but be prepared to write a lot.
Biddle is the man. He is a sweet guy who really cares about the well-being of his students. He is always willing to meet with his students outside of class and is an extremely fair grader. He does an amazing job explaining mathematical concepts as seen through his student's test scores. His classes do significantly better than the average! Take him
Biddle is a true gem within the Binghamton University math department. Not only does he explain everything in class very well, you can tell that he truly cares about his students and their success. Would definitely take a class with him again.
David Biddle is the greatest professor in Binghamton. He teaches very well and grades very fairly. He relates to college students and understands it's tough so he doesn't give a crazy amount of work. He tries often to make himself available outside of class. If you can take him for any math class you should choose him without a doubt.
Biddle is by the far the best professor I've ever had. This class is tough, but he actually wants his students to succeed. Going to his office hours makes the difference. Take this class with him
Professor Biddle is just a genuine, caring guy who loves to teach. He has plenty of office hours every week and although Math 226/227 (Calc 2) is a fairly rigorous course, he makes the tests as easy as possible by going over possible test questions in his review sessions. Honestly cannot say enough good things about Biddle and his teaching.
Professor Biddle is the only reason I passed 227!!! He holds review sessions that other sections don't, goes over basically every question that could come up on tests, and is always available for office hours/extra help. He's passionate about his students doing well and is just a great guy. Definitely take him if you can, he's an absolute gem!
Awesome Professor. You can tell he remembers what it was like to be a student. Cancelled a ton of classes for my semester but Im not complaining. Unique, naturally funny dude.
I cannot say enough good things about David. He was my first ever professor at Bing and ended up being my best. No one else could hold a candle to David.
Dr Biddle is a godsend in this department. I had almost given up on this course before getting into his class. He sets aside time to meet with almost every student, I don't know of other professors like that, he really really cares. Take whatever he is teaching.
I ranked the course as hard because this was calc 2 and math has always been my weak spot. Started at the back of the classroom (lecture hall), moved to the front row to join in more, Biddle teaches math in such an enjoyable way it's hard not to love it too. Lots of office hrs/review sessions. Still go to his hours.
Uses the textbook to an extent, but lectures are far more important and clear. Go to office hours, he is extremely accessible.
He is by far one of the best math professors in Binghamton. He made this class as clear and easy as possible. Take his class if you can!
Tough class, prof was the only reason I made it through. Sat with me every wednesday and friday and worked with me one to one.
Very tough class, terrible textbook. Instructor gave us bunches of additional notes and review sessions and spent tons of time with me and my friend. Woulld not have made it without him.
Coordinator was horrible, Binghamton math dep is a mess with this course. Take linear with Biddle, makes it clear, works with you not against you
So relieved with this class after a horrible experience (with anoter prof, so many are bad). Funny and knows his stuff
He makes the complex concept in 330 easy to understand. He is one of the best professors in the math department. I have learned more than I expect. His personality is a plus.
I would have Biddle for all of my classes if I could. 10/10 would recommend
Can't say enough good things despite this being a really tough course. Second time with Prof Biddle was great.
Best experience, A.
very horrible class, this professor made it a true favorite
Reviews, exam preparation, office hours, reviews - he prepares the whole class for tests like going into battle but is with you.
if you're taking 330 take it with david, he's incredible. the class is really difficult but he makes a real effort to help his students. he's always available outside of class and gives great feedback. made difficult concepts much easier with his explanations. also made class go fast with his humor 10/10 professor
I'm a math major because of Biddle: take anything with him!!
Professor Biddle was always accessible outside of class during his office hours. He is the sweetest professor and only wants the best for his students. The week leading up to exams he makes sure to hold several review sessions to help students do their best. If you have the choice of taking his class, you should! Make sure you get to know him
I took David for 3 math classes and can honestly say his role in my career choices were the most pivotal. Ask for his advice and help, you will always get the best. I'm doing math now with ym economcis major because of his support and guidance.
Not sure I could have gotten three this course without his help every week. No one has the patience or passion at BU
Would take for any and every class.
Always office hours. always go, every week.
I had 2 class es with Prof Biddle, number systems and complex (I'm graduating this emester!). Theses were my favoraite classes I've taken at Binghamton because of the care of this Prof. Take anything with him!!
Technically Prof Biddle wasn't my instructor (my instructor just stood at the board reading from the book) but was the only reason I got through this course. Also, use as many videos as you can, the book is useless.
350 characters is not enough to say how great of a professor Biddle is. I'm not even done with 304 yet but I couldn't wait to put a review up to encourage everyone to take a class with him. Go to him for office hours every week, he'll really sit down and make sure you understand what is going on. Genuinely one of the nicest people I've ever met.
Professor Biddle is the most caring professor I have ever had. Havent even finished linear algebra yet but needed to write this review. Even during a national pandemic, his priorities remain with his students and making sure they are doing okay. Easily one of the best professors at Bing, and if you show effort youll do great.
Hands down best prof I had at Binghamton. I was ready to give up on being a math major before meeting him. Used to spend hours in his office talking, he relates to his students really well and genuinely cares about them. Take him for whatever you can. If you go to his office hours and put in some effort, you will do well.
I meant to write this a while ago and feel bad that I remembered because of what's going on. Prof Biddle has been reaching out and checking on me - I had him for fall 19 number systems and he's still helping me. Nicest/most helpful prof.
I'm always looking around and thinking that's linear or that's not linear and understanding the importance and mechanics. Not an easy subject but if you get a chance to read his lecture notes (someone scans them) you'll go by far.
I was really worried and anxious about the whole transition. Biddle was with me almost every day and sometimes night through this. He is committed and a real teacher.
I'm completely moved by Prof Biddle's dedication especially during a crisis. He clearly is a humanist and dedicated to all of his students. Hated zoom but loved thinking in to linear.
Amazing professor. Very caring and easy to talk to. Wish I could take more classes with him
I have yet to ever give a rating on Rate My Professors, but Mr. Biddle is an exception to this. He is a compassionate, smart, and extremely dedicated teacher. He will work with you on anything you ask. The support he offers is second to none, whether its extra office hours, review sessions, etc. I think the Binghamton Math department is VERY lucky!
Find Biddle and follow his advice, its the best way to deal with the mathematics at bing.
Great communication, support and resources. He will work with you as much as you need if you make attempts.
I cannot praise him enough. This course was so difficult for me and Biddle made it very doable. He was always willing and happy to help. I don't think I have ever had a professor who seemed to genuinely care as much as he did. Having him during Spring '20, he helped our class a lot through the online transition and was always very patient with us.
I have nothing to say that other people haven't said already. He's just a wonderful dude, the star of Bing's math department. Take him if you have the chance!
Greatest math prof at this university. He is truly passionate about math and is willing to help you learn. He does everything he can to make sure you succeed. Gives feedback and allows multiple submissions for all the homework. He has problem sessions where he gives very thorough answers to guide you through the homework. Absolutely amazing person
Took Calc 2 fall freshman year with this professor, bombed the first test and was really close to withdrawing, Professor Biddle convinced me to stay and spent time working with me. Finished the class with an awesome grade thanks to his help. I went to him for extra help for all my other math classes even when he wasn't my teacher. Amazing guy
He's the best professor you'll ever have.
Absolutely amazing instructor. Pay attention to the math worked out in lectures and keep up to date with homework to assimilate what is being taught. Most importantly, attend the review sessions to guarantee a great grade. Extremely approachable instructor that will work with any problem you have. Truly lucky to have taken this course under him.
Keep up with the homework, attend review sessions, and there's no way you'll not get a great grade.
Biddle is one of the best math profs I have ever had. I HATE math and he made math less dreadful. He is very good at explaining and cares about his students.
a king
amazing human being
My favorate class this semester w/Biddle!
I don't think I can add much more to what others say other than take anything with him. He is very devoted and interesting, is willing to work with you on anything. I'm not even a math major.
I highly recommend anything that Biddle teaches even or especially if you struggle with math. Get to know him which is very easy. I'm looking forward to stopping by his real office in the fall.
I had Biddle for 330 and 304 and he is the best professor I've ever had at Bing. He is a great lecturer, fair grader, and cares about his students mental health above all. I had a panic attack during a midterm and he let me retake it a week later. He is always willing to give extensions for any reason and he's always willing to help you out or chat
Prof Biddle is one of the most caring professors I'd have ever had. He understands what it's like to be a student and was very personable. This was my second time taking this course after spring '20 the reviews and practice sessions were the best.
Take any class you can and/or get to know Prof Biddle.
Absolute gem in the math department at bing. Very understanding guy and taught linear algebra in a very natural way that is easy to understand and apply
Professor Biddle is amazing!!! He is an understanding, warm, and caring professor who really makes sure that everyone follows and comprehends the material at hand. Wonderful human being in general, I would recommend him in any class you could possibly have him in, you will have an amazing semester! I couldn't say anything ill of him at all.
Honestly helped me in the fall as much as the spring with things online and in person. Take anything you can with him and if you can't just get to know him, he'll help you in ways you can't possible imagine. Very kind and supportive and give his time.
Hard class made super accessible. Biddle is the nicest hands down.
Prf Biddle goes above and beyond. Calc 2 is not an easy course a real challenge, but take his notes use his resources, you'll succeed to your optimum.
the purest soul i've had the pleasure of interacting with. fills the classroom with warmth and excitement every single class period and his passion shows 100% of the time. homework is consistent and often substantive, but every problem counts and really helps you to understand the material. best professor you could ever ask for, king of math @ bing
The best professor I have had at college. He will do everything he can to help you and succeed in his class. Super caring and gives a 5 minute break during class. He always willing to meet with you online or in person even outside of office hours. If you are checking to see whether you should take this professor vs a different one, choose Biddle.
Super nice, actually cares deeply about his students. Makes time outside of class to help, and very kind. The material is naturally fast paced but he is your best shot (was in another class for 226 and switched). Recommended.
This guy is so kind, and actually care about whether the students understand the material or not. And he even ask ppl who's not going home/in town to his family Thanksgiving activity! Really out of words to recommend this guy
God must be merciful if I received such an amazing professor for such a hard class and he made it easier than it should be
Prof Biddle is kind, organized, always accessible, the best. His course made me a math major, take anything you can with him!!
If you ever have the opportunity to enroll in a math class taught by Biddle, take it. To keep it simple: he's enthusiastic at keeping your attention, assigns useful quizzes that helps prepare you for his tests (do the sometimes annoying homework and you'll definitely do well), and is passionate about his job. Kindest Prof.
Biddle is the best professor you will ever have. Great at explaining concepts, quizzes, tests, and homework are fair and useful, extremely understanding if you need an extension, high availability. He's a really caring guy, he even invited students that didn't have plans for Thanksgiving to his house. Truly awesome professor.
The best professor I've ever had in my life. Please take any class you can with him, he is so kind and genuinely cares for every one of his students. The best grade you can get in math will be from him.
As a math major I may be baised, but easily the best prof I've had, and was the reason I switched from ECON. Office hours are extremly flexible, common, and helpful. During the finals week he answers any email for practice question review, and helped me get an A on the final. Caring guy, invited students over for Thanksgiving and overall must take.
Professor Biddle was by far the best math professor I have ever had. He is good at explaining complex concepts and is well prepared. His lecture notes are a huge help. I wish he taught more courses in higher math levels. Very kind.
If you ever have the opportunity to enroll in a math class taught by Biddle, do it. He's great at keeping you interested, gives lots of review that helps prepare you for his tests (keep on top the homework and you'll definitely do well), and is very caring and sweet.
Biddle is so kind and always supportive, I'm really glad I took his course!!
The best.
Best math professor, he explains everything until he's sure you understand. Very clear about what he expects and never blindsides you on exams or quizzes. His friendliness helpes the class move along.
If Biddle isn't a 5-star professor I don't know who is. He is super helpful and wants everyone to be successful. His lectures aren't interactive and he basically talks at you for 90mins. He will frequently make mistakes that completely mess up a proof since he never prepares notes to teach from. Clearly has favorites but is nice to everyone.
He is the best professor I have taken at BU and I haven't had a class with him in almost 2 years. If you have the opportunity to take a class with Biddle Ipromise you will not regret it! I cannot thank him enough for all he has done for me.
He is an amazing professor. I've never quite enjoyed math until I had him. He makes everything super easy to understand. I had an A until the last exam. However, it was truly my fault for slacking off. His reviews area epic.
Three exams with lots of review sessions, multiple problem sessions each week, homework collected every three weeks, somewhat tough take home quizzes every week that prepare you for the exams. Not an easy course but Biddle makes it fun and interesting and always makes himself available.
He is that guy
Biddle clearly loves math, but he also loves his students. The professor we need, even if he's not the one we deserve
I love Biddle. He is extremely caring of his students and does his absolute best to make sure they succeed. Lectures are very clear and office hours are abundant + incredibly helpful. It was a blessing to take 330 with him. Absolutely get a class with Biddle if you can. He deserves the world.
Biddle is an amazing professor. He goes above and beyond to offer his time to students and his lectures are generally easy to follow. However, you can get lost easily if you don't read the text. 330 is difficult, but if you read the text, go to a lecture, and do the homework without Googling and only using notes/text, you should do well!
Before I had taken this course, I had read almost all of his glowing reviews. It wasn't until having taken the course when I understood. Biddle goes above and beyond, I couldn't ever tell him how much he has impacted me. Even being under incredibly strenuous circumstances, he did everything he could to accommodate me. Professor Biddle, thank you...
Best professor I have ever met. He is always on the lookout for his students and ready to answer questions through email. Explaining everything very clearly in his lectures and is patient with students. Great professor, and you should take his courses!
He is a very caring and understanding professor. If you attend the classes and pay attention in class you will be fine. His class was one I looked forward to. It was always very chill and I really appreciated how kind he is.
Biddle is a very caring and understanding professor. If you attend the classes and pay attention in class you will do fine. His office hours get very crowded, my only complaint.
The best professor you could hope for, seriously my favorite ever professor. So much more caring than any other professor.
Biddle is one of the best teachers I've ever had, his lectures are enjoyable, he goes into topics in a very intuitive way especially given how complex the material is. He constantly checks on you and gives opportunities to improve your grade, nicest person.
The best professor at Binghamton hands down. Super caring for all of his students and is very accessible outside of class if you ever need any help. Also his lectures included the history behind the topics we were learning which made it more engaging. Biddle is the GOAT
Good professor. Tends to be an easy class and grader. As long as you put in the work, you should get an A, but for number systems, consider a different instructor, as you will need a difficult professor to get you ready for the harder upper level classes. Still would take him again as he is good too.
This class was pretty easy and super interesting. Biddle grades very leniently and is also very helpful in office hours. I would recommend taking the class.
Biddle is amazing. Attend class because he will round up your grade if you do. Hard content for business calc but he makes it manageable. Overall amazing guy and I actually got a lot out of this course. I'm not a huge math person and I would 100% take Biddle again. He is very accommodating, I should've gotten a B- but got a B+. Love him!
Biddle is a great professor. Unfortunately for me, his teaching style for business calculus was totally incompatible with my learning style. He obviously cares for his students and grades leniently. However, if you are someone who needs a structured lecture rather than his more "intuitive" approach, I would choose a different professor
Math is not my strength, I took this as a CS major, but after completing Biddle's class my math skills are much better. Super kind guy, good feedback, great communication.
Biddle is an awesome professor. I struggled with calculus and statistics before but found this class understandable and enjoyable. Take home quizzes, review materials before exams. Grade is almost all exams but they're not too bad. He clearly enjoys teaching and is very kind.
I really enjoyed complex analysis with Professor Biddle and I thought he explained the topics very well. However, I wish he put more emphasis on proofs because that would have made the class even more interesting.
Thoroughly enjoyed taking this course with Biddle, can't recommend enough. I'm now doing a double major math because of him!
I would not consider math to be my strength, but after finishing Professor Biddle's class I feel capable and confident with my math skills. He is a very kind person who truly loves teaching math, very positive which perfectly balanced his patience and kindness. Made me interested in AI as a business major.
One of the best professors I've had here. Gives fantastic lectures that make immensely complex topics easy to understand. He does even the small things well: Clear & concise answers to questions, grades fairly, is kind, reassuring, relatable, well prepared, knows the material well... the list goes on and on. Would love to have him as a prof again.
Biddle is a great guy and cares about his students. Calc at Bing is hard in itself so I would definitely take it with Biddle. The class is all exams and quizzes though. There is no homework grade or participation grade.
Biddle is an awesome professor, I can't recommend him enough. His lectures are organized with lots of examples, his review sessions are what got me through the course. He's really the nicest most supportive person I've ever met, wish I went to office hours more in hindsight.
Biddle could not have made this class any easier. The content was a bit dull at times but Biddle is so fun to talk to and tries his best to make it fun. The papers seem daunting at first but they are super easy to write and he's very helpful with the feedback he give. 10/10 class and 11/10 professor.
Extremely caring, kind, and fair. The homeworks are very challenging but you get 3 attempts. Makes mock exams which are very similar to actual exams and allowed us to use an index card for exams. Very fair grader as well. Extremely helpful in office hours. He is truly there for his students.
He truly is the GOAT of the math department. He is caring, kind, and truly there for his students, wanting them to succeed. 3 exams and weekly take-home quizzes, all of which were fair and based on stuff demonstrated in class or mock exams. Homeworks challenging but were graded for completion. Accessible and helpful office hours 5 days per week.
Biddle is a great person to talk to and very passionate about math-adjacent topics. The writing assignments for this class were interesting and I enjoyed the movies he showed for the class.
My favorite math teacher so far :D
I would not consider mathematics to be my strength, but at the end of Biddle's class I feel stronger and confident with my overall math skills. He is an extremely kind person who truly loves teaching math. Funny and sometimes British.
Biddle is a great professor who makes the challenging content of business calc manageable. While the class is mostly exams, his helpful teaching style and use of resources like Unstuck AI make it doable. Attend class and you'll likely get a nice grade boost.
MATH 108. The best math teacher I have ever had. Very passionate about math and explains concepts very well. He is funny and has a great British accent at times. I would 100% take a class with him again.
Omg I pulled out my hair dealing with this class and dropped my math major when I was done with it. Each of the 8 homeworks took a week to do the 4 questions. Only plus is the tests are wayyy easier than homework's and he's lenient but never again. He's nice though.
I had him for the mandatory freshman seminar for scholars and he was amazing! Besides the fact that the class itself is pretty easy, he's an easy grader and makes the discussions very funny & chill. He offers great advice outside class as well. You can't go wrong with him as your professor!
This class is meant to help you adjust to college; Professor Biddle makes every student feel comfortable with this new transition, and I highly recommend it.
I took Number Systems last summer, my only complaint is that it was online. But Prof Biddle made the online experience as smooth as possible! Go to office hours, do the readings.
One of my favorite math professors ever. Teaches the concepts clearly and concisely. Gives exam reviews that really prepare you. Funny sweet guy.
Literal saint. This man cares so much about his students and is passionate about his work. I have actively sought out his classes since taking this course.
I had a lot of fun in this class! We had some good discussions on a bunch of topics.
Not good because he's bad.
Teaches concepts exceedingly well. Cares about how his students perform and provides great assistance outside of class. Really nice person.
I don't have much to say that hasn't been said on Biddle's page before. Apparently this was his first Calc 3 class in a good couple of years, but was great and he definitely knows what he's doing. Very lovable guy, I'm sad I couldn't get him for 330 next semester, but I sincerely hope to see this guy again. Very generous with grading.
Really nice professor even when I was struggling throughout the course. Proofs didn't come naturally to me, so this class was really difficult but Biddle was always supportive and wanted us to do well. Homework is 20% of your grade and are challenging, while Exams are 80% in which you can bring an index card which are fair. Def recommend to take!
Biddle is funny and prepared. I also got great advice on math classes for my minor. Highly recommend
The best, don't think I'd be adding anything that hasn't been said here.
